Have any of you guys tried this method of rooting your verizon on Android 7.0?

I want to try and enable google daydream and try out googles VR headset.
anyone have previous experience with this?!
Daydream is inferior. GVR has additional sensors and trackers for a superior experience.

Yeah that's true.. but the form factor for the daydream was touted as a lot more comfortable. Plus that Wii like remote is pretty slick...
To be honest.. I just want to play mini golf in VR with the motion tracking remote lol..

Just rooted my Verizon S7 Edge tonight on Verizon 7.0 QA4 and everything is going good so far?
[EDIT] After flashing the fix/debloater in flashfire, my phone went kind of wacky and telling me root is available but none of my root apps can gain root. Anybody have any ideas? I flashed the phone with Odin back to a factory QA2 and the phone still doesnt have root now. SuperSU is also telling me the SU binary is not installed. Trying to figure this out on my end. If you guus have ideas let me know
Edit: Problem fixed

So has anyone been able to get the Google Assistant working on there device? If so can you explain how you did it and if it is worth it? I have seen some threads saying it can be done but I would like to know if anyone in the Verizon S7 thread has done it? Thanks!

It's been done but you lose a lot of functionality like hot word detection and the ability to go into the assistant's setting menu. Not sure if that's for unrooted only though.
I've done it and have complete functionality it's kinda of a pointless feature does not give you much more then Google now does in my opinion I followed this to get it to work http://lifehacker.com/how-to-get-google-assistant-on-any-phone-running-androi-1787706402 I don't use it myself anymore because you have to have the newest Google app and I used the tbo edition that has not been updated yet

I tried out this guide for Marshmallow to get Google Assistant on my phone, but it looks like something's changed signature-wise in Nougat, because I get this error when I try to install the modded APK:
Code:
adb install -r Google/dist/Google.apk
3531 KB/s (48690418 bytes in 13.462s)
Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES: Failed to collect certificates from /data/app/vmdl1063868361.tmp/base.apk: META-INF/CERT.SF indicates /data/app/vmdl1063868361.tmp/base.apk is signed using APK Signature Scheme v2, but no such signature was found. Signature stripped?]
I can't find a way to get around that, and I'm hoping maybe there's another method to get Google Assistant on my phone without root.
I have the H918, so I can root, but I'm going to be busy with school for the next few weeks, so I don't really want to wipe and risk bricking because I have to rush the process.

It's better than Siri in everything I've compared, and it's fun to use too. I enjoy it a lot on my Note 4. Is this signature verification a new thing in Nougat, since the steps seem to work fine under Marshmallow?

You might be thinking about Google now. The hot word "OK Google".
The new Google Assistant is a Pixel exclusive for now. It's garbage.

No, I installed the Assistant Enabler Xposed module on my Note 4. I know that they're different, and I know what the differences are.
And please stop saying it's garbage. I've used it. It works well. It does what it says it does. It has fun games, and I enjoy using it. You may not think it's worth installing, but that doesn't mean it's low quality.

Why do you hate it so much? Give me some real reasons instead of "it's bad." Allo doesn't include the games or the functionality. I'm pretty sure I mentioned that I'm holding off on rooting for now, so that's not gonna work.

The thread I was following indicates otherwise. I was looking for some troubleshooting possibilities or an explanation, not a deprecation of what I enjoy using.
Well, let me put it this way.... no.
The only way I know to get it is to edit the build.prop to spoof a Pixel. That, of course, requires root. It'll also break things that are LG dependent.
In the XDA newsfeed, there have been reports that some phones are not behaving well with the mod. Those same feeds report most of what you can achieve with Assistant can be done with Google Now and Allo. I can understand someone's desire to go for those things that can't be done with either Now or Allo.
For me, it doesn't yet pass the cost/benefit test. I'm keeping an eye on things, hoping a dev can incorporate Assistant within the stock ROM without losing the LG stuff. Maybe then I'll step up to the plate.

Well I know it's possible to do. hsbadr made Google Assistant the default on CM14.1 for the Note 4, without build.prop edits. It's also possible with the Xposed module (so once we get Xposed on Nougat, it'll be simple). It's also apparently possible with the guide I've been trying to follow, but it looks like that needs root too on Nougat for some reason.

Can't do that. The hack says to copy the META-INF folder from the old APK into the new one. Resigning just gives me the different signature error.

Yes it's possible to add google assistant without root to LG V20.
https://beebom.com/how-enable-google-assistant-any-android-no-root/
or
http://www.xiaomitoday.com/get-google-assistant-on-marshmallow/
By now I read that google assistant is only available in USA and Germany.
I really want to root my S8, but the only thing holding me back is the fact that I sometimes watch Sky Sports on their Mobile TV app and it won't work on rooted devices. Every time I've Googled this - and it's been a few times over the years - no-one has had any solution for hiding root from the Sky Sports app effectively.
I was just wondering if anything had changed since I last looked - Google suggests not, but I thought some of the fine people on here might know something. To be fair, most of the posts I've found seem to be about some cricketer called Joe Root...
Bump - no-one?
I did this on my S7 edge and Note 5 to watch Amazon prime videos and Fios mobile videos and it worked. You can give it a shot.

I use BT sport app. It's similar to sky sports app where it checks for root and won't function if root is detected. However using magisk hide and hide BT sport app it works fine.

That's interesting - I use BT Sport on my rooted Nvidia Shield tablet (Sky Sports won't run on an Android tablet for some reason) and haven't had to do anything to get it working with root.
I suppose that different apps use different methods to detect root, though, so one solution for one app might not work for another...?
as already stated magisk will work and I can confirm that as I watch sky sports on my s8 that's rooted with magisk

Do you want to post links to the videos you mention? That would help people see what you're trying to achieve. AFAIK Bixby is a feature built into the new Touchwiz roms post S8, I'm running the latest official Nougat on my S7E and it's not present.

Try contacting the person who posted the video. Bixby isn't really a feature people want on XDA, most of us much prefer Assistant so you won't have much luck here especially without root.
that video post by Tamirda. one of the xda member here. and his phone is rooted. So nothing you can do on your non-rooted phone.
but who knows if this video might help you out...

Bixby Voice TURMOIL
It will be great if XDA reviews Samsung's Bixby Voice services, as they are the most annoying and started to make me sick. It is in the market for more than a year now, but Samsung doesn't know itself who has and who does not have. So far the Russian standard phones did not have this service, but recently I bought for my daughter SG S10+ Russian standard, and LO it had it, mine is SG S9+ and so far it does not have it. How to you explain this issue? I wrote to Samsung Members twice and did not get any clarifications from them. It drives me mad that with all the fame and glory Samsung has, this is a shameful issue for the company. Since SG S4 I am a faithful Samsung fan, but should I be anymore? It will be great to grill them for this.
I can't seem to find the app to connect my S3 Frontier to my 6t. It says the Gear app isn't compatible with my phone. Anyone have similar issue and/or fix?
Thanks.

Don't be a jerk. I understand this issue may be frustrating you but don't allow that frustration to cause you to be rude to those trying to help you. I've actually got both my Samsung Wireless Ear Buds and my Frontier watch synced and connected to my 6T. During the process I was actually led to the pages to install what I needed. I'm between classes right now. Let me get home later this afternoon and walk you through it. I can PM you or just post it here in case anyone else needs to see the info.
