Everybody with the boost model moto e (2015) chime on this thread to help everybody organize everything for the boost mobile moto e (2015)
never really saw any development for the cdma version of the moto e. maybe you guys can get a dev onboard to port what they do for the gsm version.

Could you provide me a build prop if you are rooted
I'm thinking about taking a look at what can be done to. I did some work on the xt1031 for boost before the variants were merged. Looking forward to some fun on this phone. Will help as much as I can I'm no expert but not beginner. So maybe we could get something moving forward as long we have them info we need.

Idk if the twrp recovery made for this the gsm model will work for the CDMA model.
Plus idk if there is a stock build out for the boost variant
i just read that verizon will also offer the moto e lte. the mods may want to break the moto e section into sub sections for the cdma and gsm varients so people don't get confused.
I also have the Boost variant; but I'm having issues with the BL unlock process. My # of posts prohibits me from dev thread participation, so I can't ask Q's there...and I don't want to hijack this thread. So if someone could send me a pm, I could go into a little more detail ..
Thanks!

i asked the mods if they can make a cdma section so people don't brick their devices if they flash the wrong mods and or firmware.
Cool...I believe I'm on the right track, just doing something wrong, or absent-minded...or both

I'm not even positive the boost one opens... just tore a nail into the quick trying.
MOTO E 2nd gen cdma, flashed to stock gsm. NO Network
I soft bricked my moto e 2015 surnia1526 on boost and accidentally flashed a stock moto e of the gsm type to my cdma boost-sprint type. The phone works but i have no network connection at all. only works with wifi. I have searched all over for the 1526 stock firmware, which i keep hearing isnt out yet or wont be leaked, any direction?
They ALL have sim card, it is located on the side of the phone behind the "binder ring'. The back is NOT removable. The "binder ring' pops off from around the phone. When looking at the screen, the notch is on the lower left hand corner. A finger/thumb nail will be enough to pop it off. Flip it over, locate the notch and use your nail to pull/pop it back towards you. you'll see the card slot on the side opposite the power/ vol rockers.
Peace,
Sox
its not the sim card the messed up its that i flashed a stock firmware for moto e 2015 1522 or 1524 i think.. how ever it erased my cdma boostmobile radio and i have no network connection because its no longer a cdma phone, i believe this is a verizon variant or tmobile.. how do i get my boost mobile network running again?
apologies, my post was directed to philiptrip and his issue of attempting to remove the back
I don't own the phone but I've been deving for awhile I could probably provide support and I know an xt1031 dev as well as soxtober (hey )

Yo, I also picked up today a Stylo 3 from Boost and would be happy to help you out. Used to work for radioshack back in the day and even a crappy little wireless store that's still in business, even though the Shack has all but dried up. Seems smaller is sometimes better eh?
Let me know what you can offer, as I'm all about rooting this thing and making it do fun stuff. Already tryin to cellmapper around the area where nobody has yet on Sprint.
I would like to give Root a try. Type boost 7.0

Good luck with rooting success on this phone. Alot of lg phones are looking scarce for root. Especially the LG tribute HD and other prepaid LG Android 6.x.x devices. It's crazy how locked up theses phones are. Check for access to the bootloader.

As I purchased this phone from Sprint I noticed it was missing the default player my other LG phones had. It comes preloaded with "Amazon Music" which is useless. I also noticed it came preloaded with "Google Messenger" as the default Messaging app. I have owned the LG Stylo, LG Stylo 2 Plus, and LG Aristo and what I loved about them was the customizability the messaging app had with chat bubbles and wallpapers. I know there is apps like "Go SMS" but I like the default better. What I loved about the Music Player app was how when you listened to a song, the album artwork would be a blurred background of the app. I tried using an app saver to save the apps to storage and sending through Bluetooth. When I installed it went through the install and then I get the message "Application is Corrupt". I may sound stupid but since they both had same OS version, are both LG, I thought it might have worked. Am I doing something wrong? I don't mind installing a random app for my music from the market, the issue is they all have ads. I tried to find one where if I paid a fee, it would remove them, but I had no luck finding one. I still rather use the original LG apps. Thank you.

@all
Ever since the death of my LGG3 I have felt so "powerless" on the Stylo 3. The device itself is great. But not having access to log files, system info. and the modest improvements that Xposed provided is a major let down.
I have never been one to do custom roms or such things, but appreciate and acknowledge the value of being able to use Titanium to back up my device.
So thanks for everything and I look forward to seeing what wonders will be revealed for the Stylo 3 in the near future.
Regards,
Joe

I talked to my friend who developed roms for the Samsung S3 I used, and he said we will have to unlock bootloader through adb to do amything. This thing is locked down tight. If we as a community can figure out that piece of the puzzle, we can achieve great things for the phone.
This device is way faster then the s3 I had but I really miss having @bilgerryan 's Wicked X Bare Bones. My processor was croaking and I cracked my screen so I upgraded. S7 still high dollar or I would have bought it. The stylo 3 is a superb phone and hope we can accomplish alot in the next year or two. Cheers!

The s3 was so much fun because of all the roms, overclocking, kernels...there was so much customization available and the wicked x rom was awesome.
How would we unlock the bootloader on this device? Custom roms can come later but let's first get root access first...any devs that can help out here?

its not that the bls are locked on these devices they are signed
without a decryption key or a bypass like g2 g3 loki and bump there is no chance the lg g4s and many other lg devices do not have any root insight which sucks. i just got a cricket varient and kinda like it
so more than likely a root is going to be achieved with a modified aboot or laf
not sure yet i got the cricket stylo 3
and was able to sucsessfully pull the build prop and edited a few things but as of rite now cant push it back to device .

haha yeah after a little fooling around i figured it out. Unfortunately the method wont work on the L84VL which is another Tracfone (Straight Talk) variant of the Stylo 3. It is more difficult and for the half hour or so I had it I wasn't able to finish any method. If i get a hold of the phone again and have free time I will take another crack at it. Not even hardware could remove it. That is how it is with most of these Tracfone/Net 10/StraightTalk phones.
I have the straight talk variant but my model doesnt match the last one you said. Mine is the LGL83BL software version has it at LGL83BL10a... Idk that helps you.

I just purchased a LS997 with ZV8 software version.
I am assuming that the 'recowvery' technique that I have seen won't work, and that dirty Santa only works to ZV7.
I read a number of comments on the LAFSPLOIT thread that made me believe that a technique may be available, but that it won't be released till the next version of Android (Oreo) is released for LG V20, or 2020.
I'm actually probably going to be OK with waiting, but, I would like to have somebody state, unequivocally that it WILL be released.
Alternatively, I'm not opposed to returning the phone to the seller, and purchasing one that I know will work with TWRP and Root. What model presents the easiest root? I like the 910 and the 918, as they have FM radio, which would be a cool feature to have.
At any rate, what are your opinions regarding both keeping the ZV8, or returning it and buying a different one, as well as, if I buy one, which should I buy for easiest and stablelest root.
And what are your recommendations for ROMS too? I previously had a LG G3, with FULMICS 8 on it, and really liked that.
Thank you, in advance for bot your time reading this, and possibly for the time you spent answering my query as well!

I had to go off the grid for a while due to a family emergency. Because of that emergency, I realized just how MUCH I used the ability to swap batteries. I refuse to buy a phone that is sealed.
The V20 is a little dated, but it is plenty speedy for what I do (if I want to game, I will buy a freaking 3DS or a Switch).
Now I am getting to the point. I have an H918, and as long as I have an H918, it will be rootable. Take that however you want

Brian,
I ended up returning the LS997 I had, because even though it was GSM unlockeď, I couldn't get MMS via SMS to work. It seemed like the MMS settings weren't being modified when I set up my APN for Virgin Mobile Canada. I am now hunting ebay for a H918.
I have been following your various threads here on XDA, and have to say that I appreciate the way you think through these things.
Also, I hope that your family emergency has resolved well.
Are the any specific 918s that I should avoid (ie: android or lg software updates, ARBs, etc...)
Thank you again.

As it happened, the LS997 wasn't sending MMS via SMS, and seemed to not let me update the MMS section of the APN settings. So I've sent it back. Am looking for a nice H918 right now.
So... thank you for your good advice!
Kevin
Yea, it makes no difference what software is on the H918.
The LS997 should be avoided like the plague. It will be rootable, but it will probably never be worth a damn. Sprint had LG flip additional switches in that models CPU (qfuses), so hardware wise it is different enough that it just isn't fixable even when rooted. For example, cellular bands being disabled at the hardware level.
When the 700Mhz auction took place, Google was able to get some provisions into the agreement for that spectrum where carriers had to allow other devices on their network, and had to allow for unlocking. However, if the phone doesn't have the hardware needed to work on other carriers, well, then it is moot.
Sprint is taking advantage of that, and making sure their models only work on their network. They need to keep as many customers as they can.

Hi Brian,
I have an unlocked LSS97, I'm not sure how they unlocked it as I bought it from a mobile seller.
But unfortunately, I updated the software from ZV6 or ZV7 to ZVA (ARB=1) , and now I'm stuck with it. I'm still waiting for magical happens on my device, so that I can root it and flash a customer kernel and rom, since the stock rom is messy for me. It's very laggy even when I play game on low graphic setting (PUBG is an example), while other phone with lower GPU can play it smoothly.
But you said that "hardware wise it is different enough that it just isn't fixable even when rooted", does it mean that even I root the phone and install another kernel, issue related to GPU/ CPU is still there? And how about the network?
As of now, I can't find any other phone has the reasonable price than LG V20 (for Camera quality, dual screen and speaker).
Thank you!

If you follow his other threads you'd know he's been working on a root solution for the 997 so be patient otherwise if you want be risky he has a thread here seeking volunteers to test just know you due risk a possible brick. Your issues won't be solved just by rooting, those issues are typically kernel, hardware, and rom related.

I am talking about using it as a phone on any carrier besides Sprint. Yes, once rooted, you can turn it into a fine tablet -- it is phone calls that I was referring to.
If it works fine for you now making phone calls, then it will continue to do so. The lag can be fixed.

King Root? Don't make me laugh.
When's the last time some 1-click root like that ever worked? 5 or 6 years ago? And even then it was malware infested. Current versions certainly are. There's a reason to don't see that crap on XDA.
If you installed it on your V35 you need to completely reset your phone, really freshly reflash KDZ via Refurbish mode.

The shop in China where I got my V30+ sells V35 with root. They gave me my V30 rooted as well. I did the TWRP myself. The V35 is really cheap and was even considering one. They're like 140 USD for 98% new.
Are you saying there is no root or if the phone is rooted, it'll be malware infested?

I'm saying any branded 1-click solution like "King Root" don't work on any recent (past 4 or 5 years) LG phones and are malware infested. Why are they lying? Because they want you to install their adware/Malware -- and you still won't have root.
But you won't think to flash full KDZ via Refurbish mode to clean you phone.
That's the reason you see all those websites falsely telling you that you can root using the files they entice you to download and install.

Yes you can buy already-rooted V35 from China.

The best way to root your v35 is to ask someone in the Telegram forum to do it for you remotely. I recommend @vbenkovskyy. Your other option is to lay out some cash for an Octoplus setup.

In Discussion sections like this, XDA does not allow advertising or referrals in posts for paid services like that. They prefer devs create procedures and share so others not only can do it themselves but can improve on it. XDA allows donations to Devs, but they can't charge money in advance.
There are Advertising sections on XDA, but not here.
The other way is to buy already-rooted V35 from China. But it won't be new.
Hey @ChazzMatt,
Thank you for the response covering xda policies.
The situation with the v35 is tricky. It seems prospects for a do-it-yourself, free-of-charge unlock are fading with each passing day. LG and QC have foiled some skilled devs. The v35 is even immune to the recently reported CVE2019-2215 exploit, too. Thankfully, there are other means to free this awesome piece of hadware. Sadly, they are less than perfect. Have you unlocked your v35?

Thank you both for the replies. I absolutely understand and didn't mean to break any rules if I did and apologize. I completely understand and agree with the reasons behind it.

No, I haven't. My rooted stock firmware V30+ (with Magisk and Xposed mods) is still my daily phone and I have a backup V30+ also.
My V35 was bought from XDA member who had SIM card unlocked it and flashed it to NAO firmware. Mint condition. I've not updated to Pie yet.
I know there was V35 TWRP floating around somewhere but not sure it worked with Pie? If I have root, I would like TWRP.
The 2nd V35 I bought was brand new in box AT&T V35, for my sister. SIM card unlocked but still AT&T firmware, as she's AT&T customer and wants Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE. Finally gave it to her last weekend.
Do you have links to rooted v35s sold in China? Better yet, a working TWRP for V35? I have a rooted V35 with no TWRP and gives a system warning or error message upon boot.
Thanks
