Hi guys, my phone is having issues with the camera, so I asked for the refund at amazon but, the bootloader is unlocked and the phone is rooted. I have to re-lock the bootloader and flash the original factory image, I suppose. How i can do this? Which one i have to do first?

Here's the guide. You need to return fully to stock before locking your bootloader.

So I think I know the answer but wanted to validate. If I leave the bootloader locked on my device and download a factory image from Google, cannot I just put the zip on the sdcard storage and run it through recovery to update? I don't think that I need to unlock the bootloader do I? I am trying to keep everything stock for now, but updates are a big reason I wanted this phone. Also don't want to break Android Pay. Thanks in advance.

locked or unlocked, you arent flashing a factory image in TWRP
Let me rephrase the question based on the article below. Does this still work with the Nexus 6P to do this with a locked bootloader?

Unlock bootloader officially or unofficially. White ASUS Splashcreen will appear if unlocked successfully. Then go to bootloader then flash your twrp and now you can install customs ROM.
You can still root your device without unlocking bootloader or flashing twrp. Just download a pre-rooted firmware then flash using commands.

Can this be done within the stock recovery of the phone, or are you talking about something else?

You dont need to be in the recovery to this, you just need to be in bootloader mode, connect your device to you computer then fastboot flash the parts of the pre-rooted firmware using fastboot commands.

Thanks, but I went with the one-click root and just unlocked the bootloader. I installed the Xperia rom and it's working really good. I've just waited to root this bish because I had to send it back to asus two times for repair " what a pain in the ****ing ass too "

Hi,
I want to root and install CM 13 but I have 2 questions about unlocking the bootloader in order to root.
- Can you relock the bootloader on the 551KL?
- When unlocking, will it remove all my stuff and factory reset my phone?
Thanks, tdm.
Sent from my ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser using Tapatalk
I assume that you can relock in fastboot, but I haven't tried it. As for the unlock app, it didn't wipe a thing when I ran it. Still, it's always wise to backup your data just in case.
1- no there's no way to turn back.
2- yes.
But you doesn't need to have a rooted phone to install CM13, just a phone with bootloader unlocked is enough

I already flashed the actual stock rom with twrp (https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/development/rom-eu-lg-h870-10n-rom-t3637828), but this zip was made to keep twrp. Now i´m wondering how to flash a full stock rom, inkl. recovery or just flash recovery....

Hey guys,
i still didn´t get it to work. Any Tipps for a LG Noob, how to get back to stock recovery?
plz give me a hint or throw a link in at me, If i´m missing something obvious :silly:
Can't you just install the official LG suite software on a desktop or laptop and then use that? It will probably detect the missing or "damaged" recovery and then automatically "repair".

Now I'm on stock rom with stock recovery, but the "fastboot oem lock" leads to a "corrupt device" that will not boot anymore. Can't the H870 (europe) be relocked, once it was unlocked via unlock.bin?
Isn't that the exact same procedure but then simply choosing "lock"?

i thought it was, but as a mentioned, it leads to a startscreen, that says: your device is corrupt and will not boot. after flashing the unlock bin it boots again

Is there a "lock.bin" file that can be fetched from the LG site maybe?
From the LG developer site:
4. Once unlocked, it cannot be undone.
There is no turning back once you have unlocked the bootloader. You will not be able to revert your phone to locked status.

I'm interested in buying a LG G6. Can you please explain a little bit more what you did to re-lock? Where did you get the kdz image (which region) and what steps did you do? I'm completely new to LG devices.
I Know this question probably has been asked a thousand time but.
As I only need root for my daily use (meaning - no custom recovery) I've searched the net for a week now looking for a possible way to root the LG G6 H870 without unlocking the bootloader.
I've rooted and unlocked my Android phones for 5 years now so I know the process. The reason I'm asking for non unlocking methood to root my G6 is because There's probably an unlock counter and I don't to loosing my Warrenty after only one week after the purchase.
Kingo and King root are my suspects. anyone have experience with one of this tool? and know for sure the android version (not the PC one which does unlock bootloader) really root without unlocking?
It's impossibile, because the locked bootloader have a verification of what is booting (kernel, recovery, rom). When unlocked, this verification is off and you're able to inject root because the system veificstion check is off.

Soft Root only applies after the boot it is possible or atleast it was possible before.
are you positively sure that's not possible in LG G6?

I'm sure. Root without unlocking bootloader is possible, only in case the bootloader don't have a signature verification of partitions (kernel, system, recovery). I think that LG G6 have a signature verification of system partition, like Huawei smartphone.
Dears,
Any update if we can root without bootloader unlocking?!
Thnx
