Okay, so you might have seen plenty of these posts but I don't know why I haven't received it yet. Phones in my region have gotten it yet I haven't. Here is some info that might help. My phone is updated to Android 7.0 and has Google Play Services 10.2.98 and the Google App is updated with the current version. So, I don't know why I don't have it yet. Thank you by the way.
The rollout is Google Account based so you will get it sooner or later. You might want to update to 10.2.99 Play Services, try a soft reset and/or accessing Google settings which may trigger it (as far as I heard).
Maybe you should update to
Google Play services 10.5.37 beta
wont let me install latest version

Do you have to be rooted? When ever i try to install the updated apk it says "app not installed" Package appears to be corrupt. WTF? Any help would be much appreciated.
Nope, no root needed.
Did you select the right version? APKMirror

Updated play services to that beta build a few weeks back, I'm still waiting for Google assistant to be enabled on my S7 edge. Been using the assistant on my s4 for a few months though with a custom nougat rom and I like it.

Working fine on my non-rooted S7 Edge. Just have to set the system and Google search languages to US English

Play Store usually updates itself but mine is still on 4.8.
Is 4.9 only for KK and up?

Occasionally when Google decides that they would release a better/optimized version of Play Store for a specific set of devices, they hold off till they get version XXXXX instead of getting version XXXYX, to ensure that they don't release broken updates.
Like how apps on the Play Store doesn't always state their version as they "Vary by device". When downloading an app, your model information is sent to Google and then verified that it can run it perfectly. If for example version 0.00012 works on most other devices, it doesn't mean it will work on yours. They may have a 0.00012a, which is NOT 0.00012, but a tweaked version.
Hi all,
I just updated my Nexus 4 to Lollipop and I sometimes get this notification:
An application requires an updat..
Requested by Google Play services
Whenever I tap it, it just brings me to the Play Store, in which I have no updates.
I updated to Lollipop via the OTA and have never flashed/unlocked/restored my phone; it's basically been on the same ROM since I bought it.
Any ideas how I can fix this notification?
Thanks.

Ya, this seems to be a bit of a bug. Try to download the latest version of Google Play Services apk from apkmirror and install. It may or may not resolve the issue but it'll not harm.
Hello,
Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask, sorry if it isn't.
I've noticed that after the lollipop upgrade I don't have the "smart lock" option in my settings->security. After digging through the www for a while it seems that I don't have the latest Google play services update (which brings the "trusted places" feature).
Is this correct? This is the reason I'm not seeing the "smart lock' feature?
Play store says I have the latest version (I currently have 436, which is NOT the latest version). Why? I got the play services update this morning and yet it's not the latest version. Should I wait a little longer for the update?
Is it safe to update the latest Google play services manually? apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-6-5-87-1599771-446-apk
Thanks in advance.

apk mirror is a site of android police to upload their apk's. i trust them and i installed stuff from there a lot of times. the apk signatures are correct and the apk update correctly to newer versions after the insallation. so it is a matter of trusting the source. i trust them so a lot of other readers.
android police is a serious site. so do your research about the site and decide for yourself if you are willing to trust them or not.
P.S. the reason that you don't have the latest version is that the roll out is usually done within the span of a few days to weeks depending of where you are. so the update will come eventually.

I always prefer to do the update the "regular way", via play store, so according to your advice I think I'll wait a little longer for the update.
Thanks. :good:

for me the only reason to update via apk mirror is if i want to check something immediately. for example when the new google apps with material design was out i updated from there instead of waiting. i couldn't help my self

Well, in my case it's just a cool new feature I want to try out. I'll give it a few more days and if it won't come on it's own then I'll update it manually.
It's basically just getting the apk and running it (wherever it's located), correct?

you download the apk on your phone and install it like any other app. it is called side loading. there is an option under settings/security to allow you install apps outside the play store if you haven't done it already you must unclick it.

Yep, I'm familiar with this option, but thanks for reminding me to recheck it before installing. :good:

glad to help
For the Nexus 4 (with Lollipop), I believe this is the version you want from apk mirror:
Google Play services 6.5.87 (1599771-436)
Edit: the notes section on apk mirror explains the version naming/numbering for the Play Services apks. The last three digits indicate which version of Play Services is right for your device.
I was notified immediately after upgrading to L that my Google Services are outdated and I was redirected to Play Store before even could get to home screen. Maybe it only happens after standard OTA...?

It's perfectly safe, as it is the exact same version you will recieve from play store.
I'm not sure what the problem is anymore.
I looked at a friend's Nexus 4 that was also updated with Lollipop and he has the same Google play services build as me and he still gets the 'smart lock' option.
Could it be something with the settings on my phone? Maybe I need to do something in order to enable it? I've already tried enabling a security lock screen but that didn't help.
"no eligible devices for app install"
This is what I get when I try to install "YotaMap for YotaPhone" directly from my laptop's browser. I ended up doing this because these apps don't even show in the play store if I search for them in the phone itself.
I got my Yotaphone 2 yesterday and I was thrilled to see what kind of things I can do with the back display .. but .. why are all the fun apps unavailable to me? Does the location matter?
Do you guys have any idea what can cause this behavior?
PP: this happens not only with the "YotaMap" but with many other Yota apps I was able to find in the play store from the browser.

Which version of Android are you running? If you flash to the latest firmware all available apps can be installed from the YotaStore, which in itself is an app on the latest firmware.

The phone is running android 4.4.3
I don't know how to upgrade it actually. My last phone notified me that it wants to upgrade to 5 .. and I just clicked "do it!".

Read through this post to find out how to upgrade. Also try searching YotaFlasher in the forum.
Just a FYI kind of thread.
(I know that v20c-sea-xx has it already)
Nope. Google updates its Google Play framework in order to install Google Assistant, but it has nothing to do with an LG update. 20C is out since a few monthes already, by the way.
Does actually anyone have Google assistant on unrooted/locked bootloader LG G5 on nougat v20a EUR? I've got all the services updated and even beta versions and still don't have Google assistant here in the UK. Tried changing the language into the English US but still nothing.

I've had this version of play service for good 2-3 weeks now and still nothing. When you say reset my phone you mean to do factory reset? I'm certainly not doing that just to get Google assistant lol.

Then that guy is privileged because no update more recent than 20C has leaked yet. Anyway, everything is possible, a new update would be welcome, talking about security.
You can easily get Google Assistant by flashing the (non LG) FluenceUHD patch, letting Google Framework think you have a Pixel instead of a G5.
