I just got the LG Quantum and I tried to unlock it using MFG. Since then, I can't hear any sound on when I make/receive calls unless I put it on speaker mode or plug in a headset!
Does anyone know how to fix it???
Semi Solution
I'm not sure if this will ever get noticed, but I think I probably need to start about here since I'm having very nearly the identical problem (and I can't post in the forum that I felt was more applicable since I'm a lurker/noob).
I can actually fix it by opening appmfg (dial ##634# password appmfg#*#) and then I go into ELT Mode / Manual Mode / Audio Loopback then just exiting, and that starts the audio working properly again, but this doesn't persist through reboots, so I'm hoping to fix that.
If I go to Engineer Menu / Device Test / Sound Test / Audio Call Tool, I can play around in there with RX Voice CAL, RX Device Volume CAL, RX Stream CAL and Subsystem CAL. In RX Voice I can change the settings and they stay while on that screen but revert if I go out and back into the tool (for all Device Types). RX Device Volume keeps the settings but not through a reboot I think, and it doesn't seem like changing them changes the actually sound output anyway. Same for RX Stream Volume. But Subsystem won't change any settings though it lets you try. I'm not sure if this is where I should even be playing around to fix this problem, but in the appmfg its the only place I've found to mess with audio settings.
I'm hoping that its a registry change that occurs when I use audio loopback to reactivate my hardware speakers and that I can apply that tweak permanently, but I'm not familiar with messing with WP7 registry. How should I try to investigate that? I theoretically unlocked my device, I've been thinking about sideloading a registry tool but I haven't just yet, I'd like to see what folks think about the problem in general. I did try going back to 7.0 but it was no different than 7.5 for my audio. The other weird thing is that sometimes it will make notification noises all by itself, but it won't play music through the speakers or anything like that. This is a just for fun phone so it doesn't have a SIM, and I can't, like, return it or anything.
It seems like WP7 has a lot of audio glitches like this, I've found a number of similar threads with no solution for mine or to improve mine.

sound issue
i too am having a no handset audio issue. in test loopback modes all speakers work. the headset just isnt relinquishing sound to the handset, i was hoping someone out there knows the registry enough to tweak the sound options or make a super simple app that will let me select the speaker since the software maybe having an issue.
So I've had this tablet for about a couple of months, and the sound was fairly loud. However, after I decided to factory reset the device, the sound became considerably quieter. I tried listening to some music but it was barely audible. This is also happening with touch sounds, notification sounds, etc. I have to put my ear right next to the speaker in order for me to hear the sounds. Is there a possible fix for this problem?

hi, did you expand volume panel to check all volume sliders?
click the setting icon, you have three sliders
notifications, media and system
alternately, plug in ear phones then unplug, that works sometimes.
I had slightly opposite problem after a factory reset on this tab, the sound was too loud, crackling speakers.

I checked all volume sliders and they are all at maximum volume. I tried the earphone thing, but it didn't work. Is there anything else that I could try?

The only thing left i can think of is in running factory reset you broke maybe a scipted/configuration between
kernel and module, or something written back into /data after reset is carrying the wrong setting, [configuration file]
Look at accessibility section in settings for a sound boost option, you may need to use samsung services to download/deploy
additional accessibility applications. Install a custom recovery and make a backup of your system as it is before you do anything else.
Make a backup to external card as well. There are a few repacked stock roms for flashing via recovery, try one of them out.

I have found that each time that I connect my bluetooth audio devices to the phone the volume resets to the loudest setting. The change seems to happen as soon as I start audio the first time after connecting. When I adjust the volume I can see momentarily that it was on a lower setting and then it jumps all the way up to maximum. This has happened with three different brands of headsets. It does not happen with wired earbuds. An app called "Bluetooth Volume Control" will automatically adjust the volume based on the bluetooth device connected. This work reasonably well but not 100% so far. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
Edit: I found a solution for this. In the developer options under the "Networking" heading, there is an option to "Disable absolute volume." Turning this option on allows the volume to stay where I put it.
Well, I love having mine maxed out every time. I had the Nexus6p which did something much more annoying. It would always set the Bluetooth volume to the middle and then I would have to turn it all the way up every time. I set up a Tasker option, but like your app, it didn't work 100% of the time either.

In the past it would have been less of an issue but the combination of the new phone and my newest bluetooth set means that half way is ear damaging. My older sets were less so but are still uncomfortably loud.
My god, I hope no one else complains about this. I can't stand devices that default to a safe volume limit. FYI, when connected via BT, the phone volume is software based and what ever device you are using is hardware based. It is ALWAYS recommended to max out the software volume and then use the hardware (actual device) volume to adjust to your preference. On other phones I would always have to readjust both volumes, not fun. OnePlus does it right.

Not all bluetooth earbuds have volume controls. It would be nice to just have the volume stay where I put it. That would be the "right" way. you could leave it high I could leave it lower.

It allows granular control over volume, presets for different devices, boosting or reducing the overall volume... etc.
For example, in my car maximum volume is preferred because I would rather use the volume control on the dash, however my wireless earbuds have no volume control and this newest pair have a truly ridiculously loud maximum volume, and I want them to default to about 50 percent. This app lets me set up separate presets for each.
It also lets you adjust the maximum volume and the rate of change when you use the volume controls. This was useful also.
free to use with ads but it is $2.99 to make it useful though.
I think that is problem solved but I wish that I didn't need an app to prevent an automatic volume change. It isn't about loud or soft. It is the fact that I put it where I want it and the phone changes it. In my case these headphones are capable of such loud volumes that starting soft would be preferable.

Thanks for the solution! I've been having the opposite problem, i. e. every time I connected my Bluetooth earplugs the volume was always at the minimum. Now it's working fine.

I noticed this and had it on but I turned it off, then I noticed that the volume was not staying like it did when I used other bluetooth earbuds. After reading your post, I then reenabled the option and works nicely. I got the IdeaUSA v203 headphones today, and I was trying to keep the volume about the same via bluetooth and aux cable, in-case I ran out of battery and need to plug in aux to use headphones. This works perfectly for me. I use Poweramp and nicely done for this. It says up to 40 hours playback but I think with the way I got it might give me a few hours less playback but I am willing to sacrifice for volume. One reason I love Oreo or higher OS now. My S7 Edge is nice with this.:good:

I have 'disable absolute volume' ON and i still have this problem. Its a very big problem, because having music defaulted to large scares the me so much and also is causing damage to my ears.

Same here. Toggling that did nothing at all.
My issue was that if I took a phone call while any media was playing, when I hung up on the call the media volume would jump to max and playback would resume which DESTROYED my ears.
My solution was to uninstall the Samsung Sound Assistant app and then rebooting my S9. (Because the behavior persisted until rebooted after the uninstall.) That fixed the issue entirely. I miss the functionality of Sound Assistant so I might try reinstalling to see if it works itself out but for now having the problem fixed is very nice.

I've just bought a pair of Sennheiser Momentum Headphones for the Galaxy series (M2 IEG) and i'm experiencing some very weird distortions.
Best description would be a compression effect, taking out all the base and highly accentuating highs and mids.
First thing i though was there's some handsfree sound option, like a voice preset, that gets activated if there's a 3 pin 3.5mm jack detected, but i can't find anything.
I've tried the following permutations:
- New headphones with PC soundcard and with older HTC One -> no issues (other than volume up/down, next track etc commands were mixed up on the One)
- S7 with another pair of headphones -> no issues
- switched on/off pretty much all audio settings on S7 (equializer, surround, upscaling, adaptive sound etc), factory reset -> no change.
What i did notice after a factory reset was that when i started the first track, it worked fine for a few seconds, then the sound got distorted as soon as i turned the volume up (timing might be a coincidence). This leads me to believe it's a software issue. Maybe i'm blind, but i can't find any more sound options to change.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

This is strange. Never heard of this as a software issue with any device. The description of ur distortion almost sounds like when I dont put the headphone fully in the jack. Could a phone case maybe be preventing the jack from going fully in? Otherwise I'm at a loss.
I managed to fix it, but it's a weird one.
I cut a thin strip of scotch tape and isolated the bottom pin on the jack, so that the remote commands were blocked out. As i was expecting (since the remote commands are the only difference between these headphones and the other ones i tried), it worked just fine.
What i didn't expect was that after removing the isolation, it kept working fine. I am now several reboots and updates later and everything seems to be ok.
Maybe someone more tech savvy can figure out what it was, because i sure can't.
Ever since I upgraded to 8.1 OPM1 last month, my car no longer plays it's default generic ringtone when a call comes in. I have basically done everything I can to fix this but nothing is working. Anyone else having this issue? The only thing that remotely works now that didn't before is if my phone volume is ON, it will play my phone's actual ringtone through the speakers on the car but that defeats the purpose. I have my phone on vibrate nearly 100% of the time and when I get in the car, I don't want to have to turn on the volume to hear the phone ring. I have completely reflashed the image multiple times, reset my settings in my car, pair/delete/re-pair multiple times, turned off media streaming on phone, but nothing is working. The only thing I haven't tried is completely factory resetting my car's MMI system. There have been no updates to my car either. I contacted google support/nexus forums but they didn't think it was a bug in 8.1 even though the issue started with 8.1 and was find on 8.0 and below. I still think this is an OS bug. For reference, I have a 2014 Audi S4 with the MMI 3G+. I am thinking about pairing my phone with my wife's car to see if it works with hers. I have not gotten the January OTA yet but will probably manually flash it if I don't get it tonight or tomorrow. Any ideas?

My Bluetooth crashes on my phone now when I connect to my stereo ever since the 8.1 update. No problems on other Bluetooth devices like speakers and headphones. My Clarion CX505 has the latest updates. The January security update didn't help the problem for me.

Exo, I had Dev options enabled already and from what I can see in your screenshot, my settings are the same except for disable absolute volume which I have on (my jbl speaker doesn't like to play nice sometimes and when I connect, it's max volume for no reason). So do you have any specific settings in there that you have played with? The only thing I can think of would be the streaming codec. As stated in my original post, I do not recall my phone ever playing the phones ringtone over the car speakers no matter what. Even if I had the volume on, my car would always play the generic tone which I prefer. Now, it'll play my phones ringtone over the speakers only when the volume is on and the phone's volume setting effects the volume that's coming out of the car speakers too. It's super annoying and I honestly just want it back to the way it was. Now, I'll get a call while driving and my entire system goes silent and the only indication of a call I get is a faint vibrate buzz sound from my phone sitting in the cup holder and my MMI screen which I have to take my eyes off the road to verify wtf just happened.
Very strange and sorry I guess I didn't read through enough of your post. The only issue I have is when I first get into the car must turn the Bluetooth on my phone off and then on again after first connect in order to play music. Hope you can figure that out sounds super annoying.
Well for anyone who may have this issue, I finally figured out a work around. Go in to Dev options and turn off "Enable in-band ringing". I then turned BT off/on, tested and now working as it used to. Never noticed that option in there before today but honestly haven't spent much time on it. Cheers.

Nope, I got a Pixel 2 XL that has 8.1 with the Feb patch and it does the same thing. I may try reapplying the Bluetooth update to the radio and see if that helps.
