Which Stock Rom Version? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

To cut a long story short, I tried to root my device yesterday and ended up making a right mess of it. I now want to go back to stock Rom but am unsure which version to use. My device is a UK sim free unlocked Galaxy S7 Edge.
These are the details I took before attempting root.....
Baseband G935FXXU1DQB1
Build No. G935FXXU1DQB3
Can anybody link or point me in the right directionto
direction to return to stock rom. Thanks in advance.

Are you saying to remove the back panel? I wasn't aware this was possible without damage to the phone. Is this the only option?

No no need to remove back panel..Just see below of your backpanel, there is something printed..For eg..On the back panel of my device i see device model no as SM-N920G made by samsung in india..See like that on your phone's back panel

The only version released in UK as DQB3/DQB1 is the OXA CSC aka BTU firmware (Details).
If you install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ you find under firmware / Latest firmware the one which should be on your phone.

If you cannot see on your screen what's going on as it is broken, flashing stock via Odin seems to be your best bet. You should be able to find the right one for your country on sammobile.
Turn off phone then boot into download mode (power+volume down)
Give it a minute then press volume up.
Connect to Odin.
Put .tar image in PDA section and press start.
It will say pass in Odin when it's done.
That's it, easy.

really? how long would i know before its done? and if i just put a sim in afterwards would it ring with out all the setup? just so i could check its working?
The screen is broken so it would cost me £150 to repair or sell it for £80 to recycle site as it is but with out custom roms.
or sell it on ebay for maybe £100?
Im now trying to find the right tar file thing!
the phone was a EE provided one but i unlocked it so should it be flashed with BTU or just the EE firmware which is I9505XXUAMDD for and old one or I9505XXUFNC4 for a new one.
thought it would be better on a old firmware knox purposes as this phone is pre knox
Anyone help with what version?

i don't think that will be a problem if it is to repair your screen..it'll be a problem when you send to repair your phone software.
Mazumma will give me about 60 for it. But would imagine it needs stock firmware

Which region is my LG G2?

Hello there, I am just wondering what region my newly purchased LG G2 from ebay (it was sent from hong kong) It's the red 32GB edition and it has MAS on the box - so I presume Malaysia?
I'm very tempted to experiment with custom roms as I hate the LG interface. Is it possible to restore the phone into such a state where LG wont know that I installed anything if I've to send it in for service . Does the phone have any sort of flash counter, etc that samsung phones have?
Thanks

Thanks once again. I'm having a look through the page and it appears the region field is blank. The reason I'm asking this is just incase I have to return everything to stock incase I have to return it to LG service ( I flashed a EU rom and I forgot to make backup) or will LG just not care provided that it's an official rom on the phone ? Thanks.
Edit: I can't post links, but the attachment is what information I'm being displayed

Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated. I reverted back to the Hong kong rom One question: When I was flashing my phone firmware back, on the phone it said my phone was rooted, even though I never touched anything like that before. I flashed the phone again and it said that it wasn't rooted on the flash screen.
I just checked the status now by going into the firmware update screen and it's now saying rooted. I'm not on the one directly installed now but rather the initial kit kat update (for personal preferences)
http://storagecow.eu/Xda/LG G2/Stock/Hong Kong D802/HK KitKat 32GB D80220A_00.kdz
Is it normal to do this? Again, I'm not rooted nor have ever tried rooting my phone.
Hmm... I tried flashing the firmware that's provided by the LG and the firmware flash page now displays at "unrooted" . I would prefer to use the kit kat without the knock on update. Is this possible without it displaying as rooted? This is strange

[resolved] wrong phone model after root

I have a Galaxy S4 on Bell network (Canadian), the model is I337. Last year, I followed an instruction rooted my phone (but I cannot remember what I did :silly::crying:, which method I used thru ordin). Everything is working fine after root, but my phone's model number changed to GT-I9505G since then. It seems has no impact to functionalities, but just wondering is there a way to change the model number back to the actual model it should be?
Update:
Found the way to change it from another thread

I'm not sure what's going on but it seems your phone has been hacked to make it look like an sgh-i337. If you're in Canada you should have a sgh-i337m though, not a sgh-i337 which is the At&t version. I9505G is an international variant I think.

yup, the label on my phone is SGH-i337M (sorry, I missed a letter). I might used the procedure for I9505G to root my Canadian version phone. Luckily, my phone was not bricked. I don't know where the model number be written, just curious if that can be changed back to SGH-i337M?

Are you looking in settings, about phone, or are you talking about when the phone boots up it says i9505G on the Samsung splash screen? I you are talking about in settings/about phone, I am sure it can be changed back if you have the know how. As for the splash screen, that comes alng with being rooted I would imagine. My at&t Galaxy S2 says i9100 on its splash screen because I rooted it.

I am looking for the way to change it on settings/ about phone. More details, on my Google Play store, it also shows my phone is GT-I9505G (dunno if that's why some apps complaining not compatible with this device in Play store), same as when I restore the backup from google. Can this be changed back to SGH-i337M?
It can be changed back, but you need the Android programming technical know how to do it.

Since I am only an amateur modder and not a developer, I wouldn't even know where to start myself. Have you tried swappng out the kernel? This sometimes can change the model number in settings.

N-910C Camera Failed - Even HW replacement doesnt solve!

Hi All,
Im posting this thread after review all others.
I have the phone for almost an year and everything was working fine.
Suddenly the Camera stopped working.
The problem is only in the rear camera. Front camera is working.
Wipe data / Factory reset from setting or Pwr+Home+Vol up doesnt help.
Also i even went to a phone shop and tried to replace the camera. After 3 different cameras the tech told me he dont know what to do and think need motherboard replacement. Another thing is the flash that i tought might stopped working but it is still functioning properly.
Need your wise help guys! Appriciate every comment or suggestion!
Thanks,
Eyal.
Have you tried reflashing the stock ROM back onto your device? There is a chance that the drivers for your main camera maybe corrupted or have been deleted. If that doesn't work then you are going to need a replacement motherboard.

Thank you for taking time looking amd replying.Thats an intresting option. I didnt tried that.
However i also didnt found a root method for the N-910C. I would need to replace the kernel with a different one and i cannot find a suitable Kernel.
Let me explore this option and lets see.
If you have any direction on the rooting part it would be great.
Thanks,
Eyal.
Ummm, if you have no experience in rooting your device I would strongly recommend you avoid doing that as you can easily brick your device. I'd highly recommend you reflashing the stock ROM back onto your device to see if that will fix your problem. Otherwise you will need to replace the motherboard.

Thanks man, ive rooted many devices i had in the past, the New ones dont need that as everything is quite good out of the box.
the problem is to find a kernel matching the 'C' version. all the rest is easy.

Its a N-910C it still has warranty for a few months as each samsung phone comes with 24months. How could the Samsung Tech not replace or fix the camera under warranty?
Also why did they try 3 different types, you would have though after the first they would stop if they matched up the model number of the parts etc before even opening the phone.

You would be better off just reflashing the stock ROM back onto your device rather than go hunting for the individual kernel. As the original firmware file probably has that within it.

From what I understand you should be able to reflash the stock Samsung ROM back onto your device. This will remove the root functions and restore your device back to when it left the factory.

No, you shouldn't have to root your device in order to reflash the stock ROM back onto it. Just download the stock ROM from Sammobile and use Odin to flash it back onto your device. It's as simple as that. But you will loose the root features after you do this.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for your responses, i have tried with Odin and downloaded the correct firmware from Sammobile (by verifying *#1234#) and after Odin pass successfully the device was not able to boot from the new firmware. so it rebooted again and returned to the former status (with all the apps and everything i currently still have ) means in other words Odin failed or i did something wrong.
i will keep trying. and update you.

What did it fail on? If it was sboot.bon that's the bootloader and you need to get the same version that was previously on your phone (Didn't read the post above. Try below, that will probably work).

In all honesty, I'd load Odin on your PC and the flash the Official Samsung Rom from Sammoble. Touchwiz is pretty good these days and has been fast on my T715 for the last 2 years. If you intend to use this tab without LTE, remember to turn on Airplane mode and then wifi. If you don't it may drain the battery looking for a signal etc.

You don't need to get the tablet unlocked and any firmware you download from Sammobile and install using Odin doesn't affect your warranty.
When looking on Sammobile, just look for the latest firmware that's UK or failing that, O2. The UK firmware contains less bloat of course. Once flashed, just use Nova laucher or Google Now Laucher to get that stock feel. :victory:

You need to make a decision on whether you are prepared to possibly void your warranty. Flashing anything custom trips KNOX and can potentially void the warranty.

I am completely fine with that, It is a second hand unit any way so is probably out of warranty any way. I have flashed plenty before but never samsung, so never had to deal with odin and knox, also with there being loads of different model numbers it is a bit confusing which roms can go on which tabs.

Root or install a custom Rom, you will need to install TWRP first.

That's what I am looking for. Am I correct in thinking that the only one I can use is the lineage that has been built for the tm-819? Or can I use any of the others?
Really appreciate any help.

You will need to use a rom specific for your device.

If you choose to stick with Samsung stock and don't root, I'd go with this on Sammobile using Odin. https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tab-s2/SM-T819/BTU/download/T819XXU2BRB2/212254/
