DLNA on new S7 Edge Uk on Three - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I apologise if this has already been covered as I had a brief look..
Just ordered my S7 Edge on Three mobile. Coming from HTC One M8 (EE) which has DLNA and ability to send stuff to smart TV and Bluetooth soundbar etc.
The new S7 states it doesn't have DLNA. Does this mean I may be disappointed when trying to use my phone with my Spotify account and via my van car kit (Parrot MKi9200)...?? Currently I can sync contacts and play music through the carkit, but wondering if now I have made a mistake in not sticking with HTC!!
Thank you and I appreciate any support and help.

After a 5 second google search, the S7 does have DLNA. You can look it up and there are guide on how to use it.
Also if you have a Samsung Smart TV you can pretty much play anything and everything from your phone. You can even mirror your phone screen or control your TV.

Thanks Interceptor777
I did a Google search initially when I was comparing that to my HTC M8, and like for like it said it didn't have DLNA, which I guessed may be wrong as I wouldn't think such a device would be without it in this age
Thanks for your help anyway!

MirrorLink on US SGS3

During the official Samsung announcement for the SGS3 on May 3, they talked about integrating MirrorLink support into the phone. This is actually why I purchased this phone. I recently purchased a MirrorLink compatible car stereo, the Sony XAV-601BT. After several frustrating hours, a Samsung rep told me that only the Korean version supports MirrorLink. He suggested downloading an app from the Play Store called "Sh.air" by a company called M&SERVICE. It's the only thing that he knows about that would make the SGS3 compatible with MirrorLink at this time.
The problem is that the entire thing is in Korean (I think...I can't read it). It doesn't do me any good to have a Korean interface on my car dashboard. However, this means that the MirrorLink standard is software based and (probably) only requires the MHL connection in a cell phone.
Does anyone know if there are any MirrorLink compatibility apps in development? I would really like to get this working in my car. Any help or information is appreciated.
I'm using MHL with a Pioneer AppRadio 2. It's an option for you if Samsung doesn't implement MirrorLink for you.
How do you like your AppRadio 2? I was actually looking at that radio some time ago because I've generally had good luck with Pioneer. I couldn't find a lot of reviews about using it with Android, but what I found made it look like it's not very Android friendly. I've also read that it has a delay in the user interface. Can you give me some feedback about that stuff?
I'm mostly just interested in syncing my phone for navigation, phone calls, and Pandora. How does it work for that stuff with Android? Have you used Inrix Traffic with it?
I like the Sony XAV601BT because it's a solid head unit with MirrorLink capabilities. The AppRadio seems to try to be a phone interface first and head unit second.
Well, some things about the AppRadio 2.
It's definitely a phone interface first, car audio system second. Without the phone plugged in and operating it's a basic AM/FM receiver.
Android support isn't as good as iPhone support. There's less apps available and generally speaking it seems like Pioneer added the Android support as an afterthought.
Every time you connect your phone, the phone will prompt you to accept the PIN number that the radio sends it. Every time. It's highly annoying, but someone on avic411 has a tasker script that apparently has the phone auto-accept the prompt. I haven't tried it yet as my phone isn't rooted (I'm swapping it later today for the Pebble Blue that a buddy got and he doesn't want it rooted).
Inrix doesn't work on Android over the AppRadio. They haven't added support yet and Pioneer has a lockout so that you can only use apps that have been approved.
Google Navigation is another app that doesn't work, although Google Maps does. If you want full voice navigation the only app that they have available is Waze at the moment. Waze isn't bad, but I dislike the cartoonish appearance of it.
AppRadio supports Pandora Radio. If you have it, it can natively control it through the deck. Pandora's not available in Canada, so I haven't tried it.
AppRadio also has an ipod interface on the main screen. You can't get rid of it either, which is highly annoying if you're like me and don't have an iphone/ipod.
There is a very small lag in response when you use the touch screen. I believe this is because it uses Bluetooth to communicate with the phone. It's there, but not really that annoying unless you're trying to scroll using CarMediaPlayer. That said, CarMediaPlayer is a half decent app for playing media on the AppRadio. I find it's a lot faster and doesn't lag like the stock Music app on the phone.
Edit: I implied above that you need Pioneer approved apps for it to work. You can use other apps, but they won't have the ability to control them through the deck.
For my use, it sounds like the Sony unit is the better way to go. Hopefully MirrorLink gets some support, either third party or otherwise.
Thanks for the honest feedback about the AppRadio 2.
spumington,
Samsung will release its MirrorLink app in the next weeks.
The solution is software only, but just an APK. You need to modify your system in order to make it work.
And it's not related to MHL, just USB.

Where did you get this information? I also purchased the Galaxy S3 partly because it was the only Android phone announced to support Mirrorlink.

MirrorLink question

I recently just bought a Sony 601bt touch screen head unit for my vehicle. I am very fond of this piece of technology as It has the capability to push Pandora via bluetooth. It also has MirrorLink, which allows for a smart phone to push the display onto the display, wirelessly. I own a Galaxy Note n7000 as well as a HTC One X. Is there anyway to add this functionality to either of these phones? I have the Note rooted, so I would try for that at first.
Currently limited to only the S3 I'm afraid but there are a number of members here hoping for compatibility and a couple of guys kindly looking into it when they can...

Justop K9B stick MK809 ii

Hi, my first post so be gentle!
Does anyone have one of these, it is the Bluetooth version of the MK809 ii and although I'm generally happy with it, it does have a few shortfalls. I am using it with a lan adaptor which works well.
I have a webcam that sort of works with Skype, but the large (Skype caller) and small (local webcam) images are the wrong way round, so if anyone calls I have to squint at the tiny picture! I tried the version off xda but it's the same. Any help there would be appreciated.
I've never dabbled with flashing anything android but should I be looking at doing this perhaps, and if so I have not seen any mention of the Bluetooth version of the MK809ii. I'll probably turn it into a vegetable anyway!
I welcome any thoughts/experience with this gadget.
Cheers
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
which lan adapter are you using and how much.
I am looking to buy the mk809ii, and was wondering what are some CONs and disadvantage you are seeing now? I heard it is much better than the mk808 as it has less glitches?

I'm using the BOBJGEAR usb to Lan android adapter, works fine out of the box on my tv stick.
Aside from the Skype problem above (REALLY annoying!), not too many cons to be honest, just minor niggles mainly with some apps not being suited to it.
-Youtube seems to have lost its ability to go full screen for some reason, works fine on my Nexus 7 and is the same version.
-I have tried a few DLNA media apps to try and view pictures, videos etc from my NAS and they appear to be occasionally laggy across my network, the media app that came with the stick seems to work the best but looks pants!
-Watching films is generally a good experience, but the rendering isn't fantastic on darker films, probably mainly due to the quality of videos I have. Youtube HD videos are perfect.
-Google earth works but there doesn't seem to be any zoom buttons so is useless, i haven't looked into that yet.
All in all i'm happy with it, I bought a Xenta bluetooth keyboard with built in mouse which connects fine directly with the built in bluetooth. The mouse is a bit frustrating though so will be buying a bluetooth mouse.
Hope that helps
hi sadsplace, im just thinking of buying one, are you still happy 2 weeks in, any new suggestions?
thanks

No Skype calls on new MK 809 II
I just got this new TV stick which seems to be working fine. Still, I'm unable to make calls in Skype. I attached a USB webcam and I also paired a bluetooth headset, I enabled video calls in Skype, but when I get to call anyone, after 2 or 3 rings, the call fails no matter if the other party answered or not. The only error message I see is "Call failed".
If anyone experienced this, is there a way to at least see if the webcam and the BT microphone are correctly installed? I tried several webcam apps from Google Play just to get an immage on my screen and finally I got one, but not in Skype.. .

IR-Blaster not working?

Have anyone got the ir blaster to work? I have tried the pre-installed Smart Controll, Peel, Anymote and a few others. But the P10 plus is not communicating with my Philips TV, Xbox, noor Pioneer receiver. My old Galaxy 6 worked, and this was the only feature that I really wanted on my new phone.
I bought mine in Sweden
Mine worked straight out of the box with the default app. Have LG TV and BT Youview+
I'd DOA it. Also try remote learning, point a remote and see if it can receive signals from a controller...as the phone can do this too.
RoOSTA
Hey!
I got mine running with Anymote SmartRemote. There was only one IR-BlasterI to choose and it would not send any command initially. I had to select "Use alternate IR Commands" in the settings to get the blaster working. Now, it works with all of my devices.
Might be worth to check if other Ir-Remote apps provide a similar option.
And no, I do not get anything from promoting the app...
[edit] Huh... Just realized that this was the first post after 4 years of silent reading. I deflorated myself over an IR-Blaster...

Samsung galaxy watch+ galaxy buds

Hey guys,
Brand new to this forum, one of my buddies has been on here for years and recommended me to join in for quite some time now.
I did a bunch of searching for this answer online but havent come across anything helpful yet so I apologize if this has been covered already but I actually even reached out to Samsung and they were unable to give me a straight answer as well lol!
So I just got the S10 along with the Galaxy watch(42mm) and the Galaxy buds, now I can pair both wearable to my s10 but it seems as though you can actually only have one wearable fully functioning at a time. Example: if I pair my watch to my wearable app it will NOT allow both my Buds and my watch to work simultaneously together which is a bit of a hassle considering they will both FUNCTION together BUT if I'm using my watch I have no access to the buds features like the ambient sound or even the equalizer and so forth. I have attempted to pair my buds to my watch as I have seen some people doing this but my watch continues to play media and calls through itself even when I have gone into the BT settings on my watch and selected the buds to process phone calls and media.
I wouldnt consider myself a total noob with technology at all but I'm looking to be able to use both wearables at the same time as being able to adjust settings for them. Has anyone else had this issue? The rep on the phone for samsung mentioned something about having the wearables app on the watch itself but I dont see it anywhere In the store as far as being able to download it strictly for the watch. Any help or input on this would be greatly appreciated and forgive me if I am posting in the wrong thread as i said this is my first post and I havent had much time to explore other than searching for a fix to this issue.
You will get more help in the correct forum for the Samsung Galaxy Watch, not in the Wear OS forum.
