i recently switched from moto g3 to i9500 and surprisingly im getting only 2hrs of sot with normal/light usage no gaming at all. even on standby battery trains quickly. i tried ale95 rom then first flight now im using RR and here is not change. is it normal or is my battery doomed? it is a fairly old battery so im wondering if this is normal or should i buy a new one
New one.
Although, S4 batteries aren't made anymore, so I guess any stock you find is old one, but make sure it is actually genuine.

Me and my wife we have MT4g mine I got it on Froyo her was on GB, I rooted mine and downgraded her. But I found that any custom rom on her the battery go out of charge in less than 1/2 a day. mine i ok with battery life I flashed 6 different Roms on both phones to compare the battery life mine is good her is out in no time. Any ideas appretiate your help
Switch batteries to see if her's is going bad?
I did that before and it's is the same.
She might be downloading an app that is draining the battery. Check to see what is using the most battery in settings.
hello everyone, I'm a new note owner, I bought it used and I think it has two years on it, but it is in great shape. I noticed however, that the battery life isn't that amazing as people have told me, this coming from a Galaxy alpha user. I will leave screenshots of today's battery life and I think it isn't that amazing what it got
I've heard about battery miscalibration, is this really a thing? I can try and calibrated but I need to root it, & I wasn't really looking forward to reading it, since its lollipop on stock rom.
The screenshots are bellow of screen on time and total time, you can see that it's not consistent and I charge my phone two times a day.

I'm using lollipop official rom flashed on Odin via download mode, yes the rom is compatible with my country's frequencies so there's not really a problem there.
I notice however that the battery sort of goes down faster sometimes more than others, sometimes even going as far as draining 10% simply being on stand-by with LTE enabled for 2 hours in my pocket when I'm in class.
Is this normal behavior?
I don't think there is any such thing called miscalibration, I mean I am not sure, but well.
If your phone is 2 years old, then I think the battery has seen its life, time to get a new one mate.
Battery recalibrates itself .
However as the battery is old then Drain the battery to 5% power off charge fully unplug wait one hour top up charge and use .
Next step is new battery Anker brand is good .
Wiping battery stats/ supposed calibration has nothing to do with battery calibration and will make no difference .
Lithium-ion batteries last about 300-500 charging cycles, after that the risk of it dying increases exponentially. Some last 5 years, some 1. It depends on usage and environmental factors.
There is no such thing as recalibrating a modern lithium ion battery. It doesn't have a memory.
New battery costs about 20 quid, it should solve the problem.
Also, did you do a reset after the update? Updates can cause battery drain too, quite often.

No, I did not do a reset after the update. But I noticed this before updating to lollipop, I had to do some running around before I got home the day I bought it, and it was running KitKat 4.4. I got it with 93% of battery, walked home for a bit and was down to 65, went to the shopping and back, got home with 40 to 35%. (I bought the phone at around 5 pm and finally got home after going to the mall at around 8pm)

Then it's the battery, most likely.
Hi guys, i'm experiencing an high battery drain by like 2 weeks; i had the resurrection rom when the battery gradually started to lower the percentage really fast. I tried using all apps I could to improve battery but it was all useless. I restored stock rom and the problem is still here. At this point the battery itself should be the problem, right ?(but it's not that old, a year or so)
Replace your battery, it is probably damaged or wasted ( life cycle )
Yeppers. Or try to reflash the stock once more, and use it after 1 or 2 full charges. But dont install anything.
I once bought an extra battery, official samsung (i think), it doesn't have nfc. And it drains like crazy. It has also gotten a lot thicker, i can rock it back and forward on a flat surface. Meanwhile the battery that came with the phone still works like a charm. My phone is approximately 1 year old. Do you still have the original one, or is it another one? either way i also recommend to replace your battery, but watch out for the really cheap ones! (mine was around $6)
Hi all,
i own my OPO since january 2015 and started noticing that the battery doesn t last like it used to be. i now usually get 3 hours of screen-on and it seems that the battery even takes longer to charge. How is your opo battery doing after more than 1 year of service? i'm asking because i want to know if it's a software problem that drains the battery (latest cm13 nightly) or really the battery got degraded
almost one and a half year old and the battery is still good.
after 2yrs, my batter gone down from 10hrs to 5hrs

if it got really degraded, change it.
Before replacing it, what should i check to be 100% sure that there is no battery drain on the software side?
With the right ROM and kernel I have much better battery life than two years before.
Oneplus One
I'm having less battery time than when it was new.
I have 3h SOT max currently.
Me 2. Currently looking for a good battery replacement...
After 2 years the battery is still extremely good.
Still lasting a day with ressurection remix and governor set to smartmax with lte, only wifi if i charge it to full it will consume only 35 to 40%.
I've had my OPO for over a year and battery life is excellent on Omnirom Nightlies (screenshots attached)
I get about 5 or less hrs SOT on CM13 Nightlies but with a custom kernel like Boeffla I can UC CPU and GPU and get about 6 hrs.
When I had my phone new on 4.4.4 KK I used to get 6 hrs SOT on COS with no tweaks whatsoever over 2 or more days.
Of course it will less, but I'm still getting 4-5 sot. I bought mine since the invite was sold like 40 dollars lol.
remmember that lithium batteries degrade when heated... and they get hot (40 C).
another thing to remmember is that android 4.4.4 that the OPO was delivered to us lasted more that MM and Lollipop...
after two years my battery is good, not bad not awesome like it new, but good.
I'm using ressurection remix with undervolt -130 MV
And I still can go to university and home with 50% battery.
The problem is you'll not find any ORIGINAL replacement battery for that phone. Its all label-faked batteries which will not last as long as a 2 years old original one...
I tried already some of them..
in GPS, choose the "DEVICE ONLY" mode and see that the battery will last more. CM bug...
Hardly any of the replies in this thread are useful. Most of you started out with KK and then went to LP and MM, which have much worse battery life than kitkat, so you don't know how much of the degradation is from battery wear. Flivercod's new AICP MM rom is the only one I have seen since kitkat that has a similar battery usage profile to kitkat - the screen uses at least 4 times more power than system, play services, OS, etc, so to me only someone who was running this rom could make a valid comparison to how their battery life was now vs how it was new. For me, I have dropped about an hour of SOT, from 6 to 5 due to battery wear, which is about what you would expect. Due to this, I would like to replace my battery.
It peeves me to no end, like Guido83 said,. that you cannot find an OEM battery for the OPO. They all appear to be counterfeit crap from reading the reviews. Oneplus does not answer emails asking how to purchase an OEM battery for the OPO. So, I guess you are SOL when your battery gets wonky or just old. With phones now being fast enough and good enough to be used for more than 2 years, except for the frigging battery, I am waiting until some manufacturer decides to make one with an easily replaceable battery (and that has good support on XDA) before I purchase another. Until then it's the OPO and my backup Note 4 (which I rarely use since it has awful GPS despite having a replaceable battery and SD card.)
15mths in and my battery life has improved dramatically just by switching to RR. If you're rooted then it's worth trying out another Rom.
Third time lucky for me. Oxygen was by far the worst for me. I couldnt even get to 4pm without a charge up. Since installing RR I'm finding battery life has more than doubled.
HTH
One.five year old with max Sot of 4 hrs
I bought this phone from a friend, he warned me the battery life is horrible and that hes replaced it twice already.
Factory reset after purchase, wasnt too bad, ive seen worse. This week though it started what I feared. Today lost 40% battery while at work, never touched it once, no apps running, restarted before leaving the house. I even kept the sensor covered so no 2nd screen, but 6 hours of not being used, not even a call or text, I pick it up and see 60% remaining...
I'll buy a new phone before i buy 10 batteries.
Suggestions much appreciated!

Root if possible and use a custom kernel, should help battery life significantly

Replace the battery! Look through the battery threads in the "accessories" section for suggestions.
My V20 has terrible battery life also, sadly. Now I am using the Mi Max 3 which I only have to plug in once a week. I bought a spare OEM battery for my V20 and the battery never charged. I love the V20 for it's camera and the quad DAC. I can't use it as a daily driver tho due to battery going flat rather rapidly and it can't be rooted to test kernels.
I had terrible battery life and thought it was one of my batteries as i have 2, but it turns out that its the software i was running oreo but downgraded to Android 7 and the battery life is fantastic. I have tried custom roms but they are missing camera and fm radio apps which i use. Hopefully if we get Android pie it will have a better battery life.
