Good day guys,
I am from Singapore and I want to flash custom rom for my Note 3 LTC SM-N9005. I am not new to custom flash as I have done it successfully last time using Cwm.
However I been facing problem flashing custom on this note 3.
I have downloaded AryaMod ROM, rooted my stock firmware with chain fire auto root(flash using ODIN), installed twrp 2.8.7.0 using flashify.
I copied the rom to my SD card, power off phone, enter recovery mode (volume up, power and home) with Twrp interface . Wipe up the necessary delvik cache etc, then I install the ROM.
However I get to the screen where it says
Installing external_sd/ROM.zip
Checking md5 file.
Skipping md5 check. No md5 file found
.
.
.
Flashing file 1 of 1
External_sd/rom.zip
It run for about 2 mins. Then it auto goes back to twrp page. I reboot the phone into system mode but the firmware is not being flashed.
External_sd/rom.zip
What zip file is it ??
Edit: Didn't realize that AryaMod uses Aroma so latest version of TWRP is a no go.
If its an Aroma install then newer TWRP may/will not work .
See Rom faqs .

Download this one and flash it in your current twrp https://dl.twrp.me/hlte/twrp-2.8.7.0-hlte-4.4.zip.html
After that reboot again to your twrp and start flashing your rom.
You probably have flashed the one for 4.3 bootloader, a wrong one...
I guys I have the same problem when I'm trying to flash any Rom my phone its a 9005. I thinks its not TWRP 2.8.7.0 4.4 hlte etc... because I have it and did not work. tried by 2 ways: by updating bootloader/modem and without them and the result are the same. Im running stock lollipop, now without root neigther. So Im kind a stuck here in this obsulete 5.0 lol
any ideias, thanks in advance

Hi it's aryamod rom
Factory reset .
Flash stock rom through ODin .
Put Araymod zip on ext sd card .
Flash TWRP file through Odin .
Boot to recovery and flash zip .
FOLLOW ROM INSTRUCTIONS .
Installation Steps
Root permission and Custom recovery (PhilZ Touch 6.48.4 or twrp-2.8.7.0) is required for flashing any custom rom so make sure you are done this part.
Make sure your phone is fully charged to 100%.
Now follow as below:
Download the ROM zip and make sure md5sum is matched then transfer to your phone
Flash odin latest modem and bootloader from here
Boot the phone into Recovery Mode
Do a FULL wipe: Dalvik Cache, Cache, Data, System even if coming from a port rom
Flash rom
The first boot may take 15-20 min
After booting up in setting wizard make sure to uncheck diagnostic data

Hi,
I have a SM-N900 Exoyns device. Whenever I flash any rom on it using a recovery (I have tried both CWM and TWRP) post flashing the phone doesn't turn on. I have tried CM12.1, Resurrection and Pekaka roms. Here are the steps I have tried.
1. Use Odin to first get Stock ROM
2. Boot phone up and transfer rom to the device
3. Install recover using Odin
4. Go to reocvery (CWM or TWRP) and install the zip (After formating /system and /data)
5. Reboot phone
I tried this with 3 custom roms and none seem to then boot up the phone. When the above process finishes and phone reboots I get the SM-N900 text and then when boot animation should come, nothing happens. The display is blank and stays that way.
I can however flash stock android using Odin as many times I want.
Any idea why the phone is behaving this way? Thanks

Same problem here
What do you mean by stock? Are you trying to flash stock samsung firmware in odin but it has a problem?
Well it sounds to me that you are not even rooted dude. Flash the SuperSU zip from recovery, then you will be rooted. I don't know exactly which file to flash for Exynos models, but Google should be able to tell you.
I have TWRP installed and the phone is completely wiped. I have installed the OK1 tar via odin. When i go to flash any TW Rom i get a recurring loop. The phone boots but the rom does not boot. I have tried an array of roms and have failed to have one load.
My steps:
Format using the option given in TWRP
Wipe every thing except my micro sd
Flash ( Any rom) and clear both caches
Reboot to system
Watch in despair as phone keeps booting.
The phone boots perfectly when I odin. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advanced
It's a kernel problem. Which roms in specific did you flash?
I flashed all of your Stock Zips and the Hybrid X roms
Can you please give me step by step instructions for what to do. Thank you very much
I have a SGH-I337M S4 via Koodo in Canada. I've spent 15 hours on this so far and am now really confused.
History: I installed Cyanogenmod a couple years ago. Recently wanted to change from that so I decided to install stock first via SamMobile for SGH-I337M Koodo. I downloaded 5.0.1 from here sammobile
I had it installed fine and then went to root, so I used Odin, enabled USB debugging - and installed CF Auto Root. That worked.
Then I went to install Clockwork Recovery mod and it errored out and I don't recall exactly what happened but now I'm stuck with the yellow exclamation point saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
In the TOP LEFT of screen is says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I337M
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
KNOX KERNEL: LOCK: 0X0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0X1
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0X30
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
WRITE PROTECTION: ENABLE
eMMC BURST MODE: enabled
1) I tried to do emergency recovery through KIES but my phone isn't being recognized in Kies.
2) I uninstalled Samsung USB drivers and tried just KIES alone
3) I tried just USB drivers with flashing stock firmware via Odin in download mode - it errors out and says no partition found or says FAIL in red.
I've read a lot but i'm not that technical when it comes to this.. not sure what to do at this point. I can get into download mode but I can't get anything to work.
Is the phone ruined??
No, the phone is definitely not ruined.
Are you using the original Samsung USB cable that came with phone? Tried different USB ports? Tried different versions of Odin?
With the phone on the "encountered and error screen", connect the phone to Odin and try to flash.
If Odin can't pull the partition information, you'll need to flash stock with a lit file for the phone. Your phone has 16 gb of internal memory?

Hi Audit,
Thank you for the reply. I was able to try the original USB cable now and loaded the stock Koodo firmware through Odin and it worked flawlessly. Once loaded and rebooted, it went right to the homescreen and skipped past all the normal setup stages, so I assume something on the phone was there already but just corrupted on a bad upgrade.
Never again using an older USB cable.
Whew, that was a learning lesson. Now I'd like to:
1) re-root again
2) Install custom recovery (clockwork?)
3) Install the marshmallow OS via Broken I believe.
I will keep the thread posted for others who need help and for my own reference.
Don't use cwm, use twrp and flash supersu via twrp to get toot. This has method has always worked with me. Also, I am sticking with twrp 2.8.7.1 for now as that is what works for me.
Root is not required to install a custom recovery or custom rom.
The data files were still on the phone because flashing with Odin doesn't normally overwrite the data partition.
I suggest using twrp to backup your phones efs partition and keep it safe in case it gets corrupted during a bad flash.
Alternatively, you could have flashed twrp from the error screen with Odin, performed a full wipe in twrp, and flashed the custom rom of your choice.

I did not know that. I thought I required root first and then had to install a custom ROM. Interesting.
Ok, so the plan then is to find twrp for my phone model and install that first... I'll search and try to do that now.
Flash the tar version of twrp in Odin as that is the easiest way in my opinion.

Done. I used the latest one for the tar and I have v2.8.4.0 right now. I held volume up and power and it went to Teamwin with a bunch of options. Install/wipe/backup/restore/mount/settings/advacned/reboot
On the TWRP website it says: "Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install."
1) I'm not sure what it means by typing that. I'd like to keep TWRP as I install my custom rom. I have the custom rom on an external SD card along with GApps. Should I insert the sd card and then boot to recovery, wipe all data and install from zip on sd card? Is that correct?
2) How do I keep TWRP from not getting overwritten?
Thanks so much for the help. Really appreciate it after a weekend of terror.
I backed up the EFS portion and it wrote it to the internal storage of the phone I believe... data/TWRP something. I did not have my external card in when I did that. Is that the correct way and how would I access that backup if I needed to?
Sorry for the questions. Trying to learn without running in circles.
After I backed up the EFS it also asked me to install SuperSU and I did that - then it rebooted automatically.
If you flash twrp and then just boot the phone to the rom, the boot process will restore stock recovery. If you flash twrp, you need to boot into twrp before booting the stock room for the first time after flashing twrp.
Copy files to internal memory or sd card. If using an sd card, place card into the phone, boot to twrp, and flash.
If twrp doesn't detect root, it will try to root the phone for you. I always choose no so I can flash supersu.
Btw, upgrade to 2.8.7.1 as you may get errors because the recovery is too old.
While in twrp, connect the phone to the computer and use explorer to drag and drop the twrp backup files to your computer.

I'm not sure if I can post links due to the new account, but the latest files for me are found on dl.twrp.me/jfltecan/ and the only tar image is twrp-2.8.4.0-jfltecan.tar
I will have to go over your other comments on my own to see the functionality. As of now, this is what I have:
1) Stock firmware
2) TWRP installed
3) TWRP asked if I wanted to root (I said yes, figuring that's what you meant)
4) TWRP installed SuperSu and rebooted
5) I downloaded Root Checker and it verified root.
I did just test it by powering off phone and then booting into recovery. Teamwin came up - so I assume that it's all working correctly and the stock ROM did not overwrite anything?
Questions:
1) Now I can boot into recovery mode and install the custom ROM via a zip file on sdcard?
2) Do I install GApps via recovery mode after I install a custom ROM?
3) Should I wipe/format before installing and if so, which one - "Advanced" or "Format" buttons?
I did a factory reset via TWRP then installed the custom ROM. Seems to be working quite well. Maybe I will try it a couple times in order to get the hang of it.
In order to determine that TWRP is the default recovery - it should load when I go into recovery mode correct?
If the phone boots to twrp once, it should not revert to stock recovery in the future.
Is there a stable ROM for a S4 i337m that is newer? I'm having some trouble finding a solid list that is known to work. I don't want to install a wrong version and mess up. I did try the "broken" ROM but 50% of time when someone phones me, they can't hear me speaking so I'm going to have to go back to stock firmware for now.
You could try ROMs made for the 9505 and i337.
my device is samsung s3 neo i9300i.recently i install twrp 2.7.1.0 and accidently delete all partitions and system and data.so now there are no os system.and i cant boot my phone.phone stucks on samsung logo.but i can boot into twrp recovery mod.then i decide to flash stock rom throgh twrp recovery but it fails and also try cm 12.1 official and unofficial it also fails.its showing no md5 file found.patching system image unconditionlly and updating partitions.so what can i do.i dont have pc.so give me solution which can i solve with twrp 2.7.1.0 .and one que. can i install noble rom 2.1 on this mobile in this situation?please help me......
I think you still need to find any PC with samsung drivers installed and Odin. Boot into download mode (vol down + power) and flash service firmware to recover partitions. Maybe exist any other solutions, but this, IMHO, is what you need to do.
After installing cm12.1, doesn't it boot?
Don't worry about the md5 file warning or patching system unconditionally. If you got no errors (other than what i mentioned here), it should boot fine.
in twrp there is an option of terminal command.but i dont know how to use it.when i click to open this terminal conmand then open systems folders and files and bottom line there is a option of select current folder.so how can i use it to flash rom with this.anyone have idea then please help me
I several times wiped everything at once through TWRP, then just restarted into recovery, copied .zip files for the ROM and gapps from a computer and flashed them, so can't really see where is the problem in your case. Doesn't the PC find your phone as a storage drive after wipe and restart?
yesterday i successfully install nobel rom 2.1 in my device.but now problem is i cant boot my phone.its showing samsung logo and then automatically going in download mod.before this installation i several time wipe every partitition and succedsfully install noble rom 2.1 but cant boot my phone.problem always there.please please help me
Maybe the problem is with the ROM and it's incompability with your phone. What if through Odin you flash a stock ROM from a computer in download mode and then try another custom ROM?
But of course first try to enter recovery and directly flash (another) working ROM, because going through stock with Odin takes much more time and nerves. Also, with Odin you have to be extremely careful to use the exact stock ROM for your device, so this is kind of a last-case scenario.
Plz check the rom u r downloaded is not corrupted

If you deleted ALL partitions, you have to flash Stock. If not, then just install something.

Yes of course you can. Flash whichever version you want. Just make sure it is only for your device s3 neo not any other Samsung phone. If you have solved the problem, then reply here and all moderator to close this thread.
Hit thanks of it helped!
Hi everyone,
I posted this thread in general troubleshooting category and after some advice, I decided to post it in the S4 section.
I was since 3 years on custom ROM (CM and Lineage OS) and due to substratum, I had a bootloop.
My problem is quite particular, after a total clean (wipe and format cache, system, data, dalvik cache) of my device and flashing the stock ROM, custom recovery cause me some trouble.
Whatever I try (CWM touch 6 or TWPR 3.1.1), I can't flash custom ROM (Lineage OS 14.1), TWPR or CWM crash 1 second after the flash command and reboot, with disable touchscreen and even by using old navigation way and try again, same problem.
Tried also to disable file signature check but no effect.
Quick summary about what I did:
- Device: Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505)
- ROM stock used: I9505XXUHOJ2 ( the build on which is based the CF-Root file I used) and Bulgarian version due to mistake.
- I tried on these two ROM with in the two cases, no patch or Samsung ROM update made.
- Tried to install CWM by ROM Manager and ODIN (v3.09)
- TWPR installed by TWPR App using file in .img and not the second option (tar.img) for LTE Internationnal Qualcomm.
-Checked the root before last attempt with root checker and it was ok.
- Made 4 times already the clean and Stock ROM flash to clean recovery and try another way to install it (never had error after recovery install).
Actually I'm on the OJ2 Rom with update and patch delivered by Samsung with classic method.
In advance thanks for your help and I really hope it's not too serious.
By the way, sorry for my english, it's not my native language
Try flashing the stock ROM from sammobile.com or updato.com, don't root, use Odin 3.07 to flash the tar version of TWRP 2.8.7, try flashing a custom ROM.
Thx for the help/advice
Just to be sure, my stock ROM is actually from up updato.com but due to the patch and Samsung update I'm now on HPK2.
Here the detail of my stock ROM
https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2018/05/4/1517503670-screenshot-2018-02-01-17-43-00.png
(the integrated image link option made it as large as the moon so I prefer a simple link)
TWPR 2.8.7 is still efficient or another version would be better ?
If yes, I will try in the hour and I will give you news as soon as possible
EDIT: After some research, TWPR 2.8.7 jfltexx is not avaible in .tar , only .img and impossible to find it on net...
But 2.8.6 and 2.8.4 are avaible in .tar and 3.0.0 in .img.tar , which one is the best ?
I suggested 2.8.7 because Ihave used it in the past and it was very stable. Try a newer tar version. It's really just to see if the phone will take TWRP and boot it.
Whatever I try (TWRP 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 in .img.tar for jlftexx)
Odin (v3.07) do the job , my phone reboot as normal.
But when I shutdown it and lauch in recovery by manual way, got during a micro seconds the android logo of loading and intant "No commands " and I end on the stock recovery.
Edit: I will try the same method with Odin using CWM tar (never had problem with it before this day)
Same thing with CWM-v6.0.4.7-Touch-GT-I9505.tar
Android loading logo and "No command detected"
Problem solved
Well, I don't know how I made a sucess but it seems the "wild" method worked.
So here is the list of things I did in case somepne got the same trouble
Put your Zip file on SD AND Internal Memory (in case)
All the Zip files I used where on my internal storage during this procedure.
- Download mode:
uncheck Auto Reboot in Odin
flash TWRP3.0.1.0 jlftexx.img.tar with ODIN in admin mode
turn off device after flash ended
Obligation or the stock recovery will return automatically !
Lauch device in recovery mode:
If it's TWRP good news, slide to confirm modifications.
Recovery mode:
-Wipe --> Advanced Wipe--> Select Cache, Dalvik Cache, Sytem and Data (never check internal and SD storage)
I tried by mistake without wiping dalvik cache, and got no boot after 5 minutes so i made it again with all the wipe above
-Install --> Flash zip of the rom and Gapps (got an error at zip signature check on the ROM so I flashed after uncheck this option)
-Reboot --> System
Let your device launch on the new rom, set the basic parameters and after, if you want, return in recovery to flash the SU addon for root (got also zip sugnature fail so I ahd to uncheck it again)
Hoping no one will ever had the same problem but in case, I share my solution
Thanks again for help
