First of all I would like to say that this is a revised version of an earlier guide which focused on xposed together with goodix. Since Magisk 11.1 was released we can now have systemless superuser and xposed on this rom without much trouble. I will also list steps for F2FS on data/cache but I won't be doing a guide for those of you with roms without Radon kernel built in because it is a pain in the you know what and I already laid out the steps in a previous guide.
So, first of all here are the things that you will need:
Links at bottom of page
a) Any version of Resurrection Remix 5.7.4 for those of you using EXT4.
b) My version of Resurrection Remix FK 5.7.4 with Radon built in for those of you using F2FS
c) gapps
d) Supersu 2.79SR3
e) Magisk 11.1 zip
f) Magisk Manager apk or internet access to download from Play Store
g) Xposed v87 johnwu edition (systemless)
h) Xposed material apk
i) Radon kernel installer
j) goodix patch for goodix fingerprint users
k) Arise swansong installer (I am using v2.90 at the moment without issue)
For those of you using F2FS follow these steps first:
Make sure you are using my version of Resurrection Remix 5.7.4 with Radon built in. See above.
a. Using a F2FS compatible recovery such as Strix M4-0, wipe all partitions.
b. Convert data and cache to F2FS - in TWRP > Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Choose data partition > change filesystem > F2FS
c. Repeat step b for cache partition
d. Go to settings in TWRP and check "use rm -rf instead of formatting"
e. Continue to step 2a.
Now let's get to the steps to get this up and running:
1. If you are using EXT4 for data/cache go ahead and wipe all partitions and format data
2a. Install ROM + Gapps and reboot to system. Wait for setup screen to appear and reboot to recovery. Goodix users go to step 3. FPC users go to step 2b.
---------------------
2b. This step is only for F2FS users with FPC fingerprint sensor. If you have a FPC fingerprint sensor and want to stay on stock kernel you can skip this step and go to step 3. Install radon kernel then reboot to system. Wait for setup screen to appear and reboot to recovery.
---------------------
3. Install Supersu 2.79SR3 and reboot to system. Wait for setup screen to appear and reboot to recovery. (this step will block magisk from installing it's own implementation of superuser which currently does not allow a proper interactive shell in terminal)
4. Install Magisk 11.1 first and Xposed johnwu second using add zips. Reboot to system and allow setup screen to appear.
---------------------
If you have a goodix fingerprint sensor complete steps 5a - 5c. If not continue to step 5d.
5a. Reboot to recovery.
5b. Install goodix_fp_8.zip first and Radon 3.9/4.0 second using add zips (choose goodix). Reboot to system. Wait for setup screen to appear and reboot to recovery.
5c. Install supersu 2.79SR3 again. Reboot to system. (goodix patch will break supersu so this is necessary for goodix users)
----------------------
5d. Complete setup and install Magisk Manager from play store or apk.
6. Install Xposed material apk.
7. Done! For Arise audio continue to step 8.
---------------------
8. Open "AudioFX" app. Toggle the "on" switch to the "off" position.
9. Go to Settings > Apps and find "AudioFX." Click on it then click the disable button. Reboot to recovery.
10. Install Arise zip. Reboot to system.
11. Done!
Right now I have only tested a few things because there are so many options in the Arise installer. Don't use the "remove deep buffer" option because it presented issues for me and is unnecessary on this phone. Right now I am using Viper4Arise 2.5.0.5 with the default ICE audio configuration and default ICE preset. Everything else was skipped except the option to repair sd card permissions (why not?).
--------------------
Note: To pass safety net check install Xposed module "No Device Check."

With Magisk 11.5 came many bug fixes including for devices that have a separate vendor partition. We can now use Viper4Android systemlessly with the magisk module. This will not affect the lockscreen visualizer or the audio fx tile visualizer. So we can have viper4android without sacrificing these features.
1. Install magisk 11.5 in twrp recovery, reboot to system.
2. Install latest magisk manager from playstore or apk
3. Open magisk manager and select "downloads" option in menu pane.
4. Search for "Viper4Android FX" and click the download button then click install.
5. Reboot.
6. Open magisk manager and select "downloads" again.
7. Search for "Viper4Android FX" under "Installed."
8. Tap the tile (not the download arrow)
9. Click the link that says "download the latest apk here."
10. Install apk you just downloaded.
11. Enjoy Viper4Android systemlessly on Redmi Note 3.

It all depends on what headphones you are using and what quality the music is, i.e. lossy or lossless etc. Just play with the settings and find something you like (our ears aren't all the same).

I went directly to aosp based roms as soon as I got this phone. Sorry I can't help.
It shows driver installation failed due to busybox. But I have installed the recommended Busybox.. Please help
i know magisk is to hide root. but i didnt know about it has viper capability. now my speaker sound louder. thanks.
Thank you for the guide, followed it step by step and it works perfectly!
I just had a question
I am on XenonHD so if I flash an update, I only have to flash magisk again right? Or must I do something special for V4A
Note: THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH SYSTEMLESS XPOSED, YOU MUST USE THE CLASSIC VERSION!
Configuration tested on:
Redmi Note 3 Kenzo 3gb goodix variant.
Officially unlocked bootloader.
Installed latest global dev rom (7.7.20) with miflash in edl mode then installed TWRP official 3.1.1-0 then installed 7.7.6 firmware from LineageOS 14.1 thread.
Latest LineageOS build (2/8/17) with Radon Kernel 5.3.
Steps:
1. Install latest global dev rom to make sure you have the proper nougat binary blobs on your device. Preferable to use miflash and phone in edl mode. Allow phone to boot one time so rom can partition the emmc properly.
2. Install latest TWRP official (3.1.1-0) by putting phone in bootloader mode and connecting to PC via usb cable. Copy the twrp recovery image to the same place that fastboot.exe is located. Open an elevated/admin command prompt and navigate to where fastboot.exe is located. Type "fastboot flash recovery NameOfRecovery.img" (without quotes of course). When that is finished type "fastboot boot NameOfRecovery.img."
3. Install zips in this order. LineageOS rom, OpenGapps, Radon Kernel 5.3 (selected all default settings), Magisk 13.3.
4. Reboot to system, set up phone and install any apps that need to pass cts safety net at this point. E.G. Super Mario Run.
5. Reboot to recovery.
6. Install the latest Xposed build for SDK25 ARM64 from PurifyOS Xposed thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-android-nougat-sdk-25-arm64-t3639221. DO NOT USE THE SYSTEMLESS MAGISK VERSION.
7. Reboot to system.
8. Install latest Xposed Material installer by DVDAndroid - https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/material-design-xposed-installer-t3137758. At this point you will fail safety net. The next step will fix that.
9. Install Root Switch 1.3.3.2 apk.
10. When you need to pass CTS Safety Net use Root Switch to disable Xposed. It will ask you confirmation to perform a soft reboot. After the soft reboot Xposed will be disabled and you will be able to pass CTS Safety net again. DO NOT USE THE DISABLE ROOT SWITCH! THIS WILL PERMANENTLY MESS UP MAGISK!
THIS HAS ONLY BEEN TESTED ON THE LISTED CONFIGURATION. DO NOT ASK IF IT WORKS ON ANY OTHER CONFIGURATION, TEST IT YOURSELF. I WILL NOT BE RESPONDING TO QUERIES, IF YOU FOLLOW THE STEPS AS LISTED YOU WILL BE JUST FINE.
Linn for root switch
tried this on rr rom redmi note 3 kenzo working absolutely fine highly recommend
Works on One Plus 3T with Oxygen OS 4.1.6!
Thanks!
If the root switch app disables xposed, then what is the use of it
Hello everyone,
As you might have seen, Google Safetynet APIs have been updated. Since Official Magisk is using old API, when you try to pass Safetynet, it will automatically give you an error like " The response is invalid" or something like that.
So, in order to bypass this issue, I've been searching for a long time and I found a solution.
THIS WON'T WORK WITH XPOSED FRAMEWORK INSTALLED!!
1- Uninstall completely Magisk using official uninstaller.
2- Once the device rebooted, download and install latest unofficial Magisk Manager APK available on this page: https://github.com/ianmacd/MagiskBuilds?files=1
3- Open Magisk Manager and go to Magisk settings
4- Click on Update Channel and choose Custom
5- Insert this URL and click OK : https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ianmacd/MagiskBuilds/master/updates/ianmacd.json
6- Click on Clear Repo Cache
7- Return to Magisk Startpage and check for update
8- Install Unofficial Magisk 16.8
9- Once installation done, reboot your device
10- Go to Magisk Manager and check for Safetynet
If it passed, Congratulations, you're done.
If not, continue.
11- Download this Magisk Module : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528046758
12- Once downloaded, disconnect your phone from Internet (turn of the Wi-Fi, 4g, etc...). It's very important
13- Install the module using Magisk Manager and reboot
14- When reboot done, wait 5 minutes before turning on Internet connection
15- Go to Magisk Manager and check if Safetynet passed.
It should be working, it worked in my case.
Have tried on two devices:
- Leeco x626 with EUI ROM ( Cuoco) using the module
- Leeco x526 with MIUI 10 without the module
FOR EUI ROMs:
You could get an error saying you're using a modified software or something like this, after uninstalling old Magisk.
Do this :
- Download official Magisk uninstaller AND Unofficial Magisk 16.8 ZIP
- Reboot to TWRP Recovery
- Uninstall old Magisk using the uninstaller
DO NOT REBOOT
- Return to TWRP Home menu and install unofficial Magisk 16.8
- Reboot your device and it should be okay
Wow it worked. Thanks a lot bro.
