I really dislike 1440p, its just too laggy in graphic games, so i tried to change resolution with Resolution Changer Pro 2.1.2.1., but after changing it to 1080p (Im at stock B10 , and yes im rooted) after reboot capacitive buttons are not working. Is there any other app to change my resolution and DPI that actually work, or can I somehow enable on-screen buttons? Or maybe there is a secret fix to make buttons work again?
You can use 'button mapper' and 'root essentials'

hi, i have rooted my tablet and use rom tool box to change the dpi to 175, effectively give me full tablet UI.
which is very nice.
the notification bar at the lower left, when i swipe it upwards,
there is a brightness control.
i seldom use this slider because the auto brightness works so well.
i'm thinking it will be more useful if it can become a volume control.
is it possible? is there an app for it?
or is there any mod i can flash to make a volume control appear there.
hope to hear some feed back. thank you

'Volume in Notification' app
Also, from the conversations I've read, the best setting for tablet UI is 160.

Thanks for the app recomemdation
160 DPI? I've been using 175 for the last 5 days. No force close or hang. What kind of issue is expected?
Why is 160 the best? The font is smaller in 160.
If you use a strange dpi, then some apps might not appear in the Play Store because they have dpi requirements.
Just curious about the DPI. I have not rooted, but was "thinking" that the font would get larger if set to 160 dpi. I have a 5" Galaxy Player and the N7, and everything on the N7 is smaller (except the screen). Music Widgets are much smaller with a much smaller albumart. I was hoping if I rooted icons and text could be made larger. I have settings set to largest.... and I don't consider myself blind... just old
I'm kind of curious.... I had a kindle fire which had no volume buttons so a notification volume slider was crucial but the N7 has volume buttons so I don't understand why you would need a slider. Please understand I'm not trying to say you're wrong for wanting one, just curious why.

No problem. Here's an example,
Open a YouTube video.
The volume is too loud, find the volume rocker, top right,
Nope not there. Rotate tablet and check all sides to find it.
After a few seconds looking, found it.
If there is a volume control at notification bar,
Just swipe it down, and control from it.
Much faster, no need fiddle with the tablet looking for it.
Hi all,
My new phone did not survive a single day without (towel-)root. So after getting root, I was thinking about changing DPI.
default in /system/build.prop is 480. I changed it to 360 and 420, both seems fine for the GS5. As a scale referenced I used values from http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/general/info-official-galaxy-nexus-lcd-density-t1392089 - my Galaxy Nexus is running at 246 just fine.
But sadly, the stock lock screen is now shifted left. Any idea how I can replace the stock lock screen with another fingerprint-ready lock screen? A lock screen with 4x4 pattern would also do.
Thanks in advance.
PS: If I have time, I will make a thread similar to the linked above.
Is the camera workin properly on 360 and 420? thanks and the phone keypad?
I may be wrong but as far as i know you have to edit SystemUI for the lockscreen to look correct, or you can use app settings from xposed to change SystemUI back to 480 but that changes more than the lockscreen. As for camera and keypad, those need to be changed back to 480 in app settings, i wouldnt say its required but its not going to work very well on anything but stock dpi, i personally run 320.

Right now I'm using Nova Launcher because I need landscape mode in order to use MirrorLink in my car.
All is working well. However, I realised that there are 2 horizontal black bars at the top and bottom of the car screen. That's because of the aspect ratio. The car screen is 5:3 and S7 edge is 16:9. In order to reach 5:3, I need to change the default 2560x1440 resolution of my S7 edge to 2400x1440.
I'm using Easy DPI Changer (ROOT) to achieve that. In portrait mode there's no issues, screen resizes well and calibration it's fine. BUUUUT... When rotating the S7 edge to get landscape mode, it just reboots. Always, no matter the launcher. It's something coming from Android 7? Maybe TouchWiz?
The app is working amazing with a Sony XPERIA Z3 with Android 6.0.1. But it's not my daily smartphone so I need this to work with my S7 edge so bad.
Any help will be appreciated.
(Sorry if my English is bad)
Try to set dpi with that app while you are on landscape mode. This may fix reboot but don't know about potrait mode issues

not working.
"Easy DPI changer" it's in portrait mode only, although I put my S7 edge in landscape, the app launches in portrait and when changing to 2400x1400 and going to home screen, screen tries to turn to landscape and it crashes like before.
Seems like TouchWiz or Android 7 doesn't support other resolutions in landscape mode than 16:9 (1280x720, 1920x1080, 2560x1440)???? :S
It must be samsung systemui, the other apps are made to scale at any resolution
Im triying to go fullhd resolution on a H990DS. Im rooted using dots kernel, and while im able to set resolution to 1020x(1920+160)=>1020x2080, and dpi to 386, it would seem that i need to set up a different dpi on the upper screen( original seems to be 640 dpi).
With the above setup all seems tl work ok, besides the upper screen, wich seems to be out of propportion.
Any ideas?
Is there a way to decrease screen resolution so that I can save battery life? 720p is honestly fine with me. I tried changing it through adb with "wm size 720x1560" but that just made everything look big and the navigation gestures stopped working.

It won't save much battery at all.
You still need to light the pixels. The processor will need to interpolate down to 720p.
The power savings if any, would be very small.
The best way to save a bit of juice is to use a black (#000000) wallpaper both on the lock screen and desktop, and also use a black theme. Android 10 supposedly will bring an all black interface, but in the meantime, this will do it.
