How is the display after replacing the display ? Does the problem still persist or it fixes permanently ?
If you manage to get a newer LGD display, the problem will be fixed permanently as newer panels don't have this issue.

Btw , there is no moto service centre in my area...
We able to fix the screen burn with rooted and custom ROM but why can't the Motorola's can't fix it . Since we can fix it with rooted phone I think there will be a way to fix it through update or something ...

your new digitizer probably needs to be calibrated, is it genuine lg? because there are alot of subsitute replacemnts which may be the reason why is shakes soo much

It's probably the digitizer itself that has the problem, like i asked? is it genuine lg? you can try flashing V20a but i doubt that will solve your problem
I have heard that OTA for Android N soak test is catched and many people started using it.
Will updating to Android N fixes this issue?
I read somewhere that it is a firmware issue and LCD screens wont burn.
No,The problem still persists.

So we must have to replace the lcd screen as a fix?
There is no other way?
The firmware in the LCD driver chip needs to be flashed. That's not part of the OS installation.

How ?
We won't be able to do that ourselves. Although we can still visit the service center for the same. (or just use BlueLight filter at 5% black/set the rgb values (needs root))
Clearly, lcd color recalibration via kernel params can mitigate this issue.
However, it looks like Moto simply doesn't care. They could've patched this in any of the OTAs they've sent out! :/
I doubt that RGB re-calibration is working on all the affected screens.
And BTW, you don't need root or kernel access to install a blue light filter:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ne.hardyinfinity.bluelightfilter.free&hl=en
I'm not saying it'll fix it for everyone - rather mitigate or lessen the issue. They could at least try it.
A blue light filter is a suboptimal solution - they render a blue layer, which consumes extra power and gpu render cycles, leading to excess overdraw.
This is a well documented issue with all such apps, it's the only way to do it without root/custom-kernels.
The system level solution adjust the actual color render values, which has zero overhead and looks much better.
Hello,
I replaced the screen of my G2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGZDcDyg2e8&feature=youtu.be
After starting the phone, everything works perfectly (normally) but after using the standby mode, only stripes are displayed and the phone is unusable. Anybody has an idea, why and if it is possible to solve the problem? Or is the new screen just broken, what I suppose.

Just replaced my display too and I have the same issue. Thing is I'm going throught the second display that acts like this after replacement. My guess would be, that there is an issue related to the different screen models. I assume (and am going to try) that a ROM reflash already helps.
Yes, could be!!! Because some shops tell you from start that those displays don't work with Android 4.xxx but i also have a doubt because , i have the same issue when i am in the recovery mode (which is kind of an independent os in my opinion, - though than a kernel update still might help in theory)
Which version do u have?
I'm very angry with the shop though, because I asked if it works with Android 4.xxx
The screen also has a physical damage. It's cracked. Neither the glass isn't attached well to the frame .
I brought it on ebay from the_phone_depot
please inforn me , when you have tried out something new.

I can confirm that this is the case. A reflash helped. I'm using Resurrection remix. Shouldn't matter what ROM tho.
Buuuut: I didn't have the issue in the recovery while i had it with the first screen. But the first screen had a bad digitizer also.
I can also confirm that it works with higher android versions. Though the seller confirmed it should be also working with android 4.4....
Thanks a lot dude!
Still a big progress!
Hi, can you tell me if knock knock function works to wake up the phone? or is there any trick how to get it to work. Thank you

Works for me. I'm aware of the issue and we know, that it's ROM/Software and not hardware dependant.
In G4+, Many G4+ Having BOE Panel reported Ghost Touch Issue. Motorola recommended to Replace Screen still Few Got Same BOE Panels and Some Got LGD which was prone to Image Retention.
So I would Like to Ask, Any Member, Who Flashed ROMs and Got their Issue solved.
As Many Times, Developer With some tweaks are Able to Solve, And Qudos to Developers for these Hard Work.
But Need confirmation, As I wanna Flash Something Stable, as My Father will be Using It from Now.
You may try these option

Hi, i always have this issue with MOTO G4 plus searched a lot about how to solve this Screen retention Problem some says Ghost Screen whatever it. I have also replaced the Display of the Phone but nothing done.
Then i got some information from the web about to change the RGB value of the display as for me it works at 240,240,240. You can change the RGB value of your display with the current ROM also. But i am using a custom ROM named [ROM][FINAL - 10/29] Resurrection Remix v5.8.5 [7.1.2_r29][athene] and changed the RGB values.
You can find the ROM details https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/rom-resurrection-remix-n-5-8-0-t3507275 and you can change the RGB value to 240240,240.
I think the screen retention problem can only be resolved by changing the RGB values. As you asked for a stable ROM thats why i mentioned the ROM else the Color value can be changed in any Rom.

No, changing rgb values have no effect on ghost touch. That's a different problem.
so ghost touch is hardware or software issue ? I mean, if we use custom instead stock rom, it will fix it ?

Have a look at here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/real-reason-ghost-touch-issue-apart-t3700930
Reducing screen brightness can be a workaround, maybe.
There's another thread about ghost touch, have a look at.
Hey everyone I'm facing an issue recently that of image retention.after using the phone normally I can sometimes see retention of previous apps well I can see it mire noticible in the status bar
It goes away if I keep phone off or if I try some burn in fix app but again comes back

Bro this is not a software issue, so no matter how many times you factory reset or update or flash custom rom, it is not going away. This is hardware related so your only destination is either service center or OLX
I know it's late to recommend that but you should never use your LCD device at maximum brightness. This kills OLED displays and affects quite a large number of IPS display types.
