Sorry if this is duplicated question, I searched the forum but found nothing definitive yet.
Is there any information regarding the new official update to Lollipop 5.1 for Moto G 2014? (Preferably the XT1068 version, which is the one I have). I read on news that Moto G 2014 (and other models) were receiving the update because of that security bug, but haven't found any download for the new version so far... (maybe is too recent?)
Thanks in advance. Regards.
No. Motorla seems to do a soak test these days but there is no 5.1.x firmware out.
Thanks for the information!
Could we expect that this test will help us acquire it? I mean, the 5.0.2 for the XT1068 was also a soak test and we got it, right?

I'd say it's 99% certain that we WILL get 5.1.1 ... the only question is when.
My (wild) guess would be this year.
They have only sent out the standard survey-form which they do before every test but afaik they haven't actually started testing yet.
So, depending on when they'll actually start and how well the soak test goes it might be as soon as within 2-3 Months = probably this year.
(Again, just a wild guess and a bit of whishful thinking)
I know about as much as Motorola Support, which is absolutely nothing.

Seems like since the chinese bought motorola a lot has changed there...
Try Titan Prime 1.1.1 with stellar kernel 5.1,fast,stable and good battey stats.
It´s based on stock and my daily driver. But (yes) it´s based on #*+% android 5.0.2 not on.....you know.
maybe because lenovo have bought motorola.
sry for my english
Huh, I'll give it a try! cm12.1 is really buggy for me
Soak tests haven't been started yet, only forms have been filled.
Problem with Android is Google is releasing versions so fast, vendors do not have time to adapt each and every version (plus: why should they? they make no money out of it)
Maybe we will not get Android 5.1 on Moto G 2014 but Android 6.0 when it's released really soon.

They make no money but I think for many people fast updates are an argument to buy a device. And on the other side, if I was a vendor I would be very careful with the release of a brand-new firmware after the disaster with 5.0 and probably better come out with a stable 5.1.1 than a (eventually) buggy 6.0.

How may people do care about updated versions? Very few, really.
App updates? Sure. Give them new a new version of WhatsApp, Facebook, etc. Maybe even an enhanced camera app. But a new firmware? Very few people even know what that is.
So a device with guaranteed updates? Yes, there is a market for that: developers or curious people. And that's why the Google Nexus class of devices exists and sells well.
Yeah,these android nerds...?
What about security? I think that the best way is that the system gets update not depending from the manufacturer, like with the computer. Will be possible in the future of Android?

Hey everyone
I heard the Android 7.1.1 update for Galaxy S7 & S7 edge is in testing at carriers and is just about to come for us
Anyone heard when exactly ?
The Beta testers will probably get it first. Release date is probably somewhere near february or even march.
I'm starting to seriously doubt if 7.0 will ever come. I rather stick to MM right now as not much dev been going for the Google Pixel.

I'm still running 6.0.1 on AT&T. Why the delay?

Because it is only a beta release and AT&T does not allow betas.
Final version is rumored to be released on February or March, and even then, carrier specific releases will probably take longer.

No, the official Nougat will be 7.0. It was announced on Samsung Members here in Korea.

Yeah I saw that, and some beta users here inquired if that is true, only to get answers saying No.
Well I do want to stop getting disappointed at Samsung changing their words(or giving different answers). Hope we can get 7.1.1 ...

Oh... Didn't know that... Let's keep our fingers crossed :fingers-crossed:
Before the G6 launched I read a review that said something to the effect LG was trying to get the device out with 7.1. Well that didn't happen but there's been silence since. Anyone have info on LG releasing a 7.1 update? I know LG doesn't have the best update track record, hopefully it isn't months from now.

No 7.1 in the G6 future, LG never update to this "minor" release, only security patch updates with enhancements, like in previous LG smartphones
7.1 is more than a minor update though. It fixes the bad standby drain that's present in 7.0. If they don't update to 7.1 I'll likely dump LG if this is indeed how they do things. Thanks for the reply

Then jump immediately, they won't update to 7.1, they'll jump directly to Android O.
I don't think thats true. LG said they're gonna update to 7.1 to pre-production reviewers so they're probably gonna do it.

Heard at least cpl of reviewers say it. Don't remember who tho. I've watched a lot of G6 reviews but only read a cpl.
Either way, if they aren't pushing 7.1 they'll probably hurry up with Android O, as you said. They're usually one of the first ones to update their eligible phones to new Android and Android O is supposedly really close (fall release).
Rumor has it the g5, V20 and now I assume G6 are jumping from 7.0 to 7.1.2. That only recently was released to pixel/nexus phones.

Absolutely not. Android O Will be released too late for LG to keep this phone without the update. Android O Will probably be shipped on the next "V" device and the G6 will only see it next year.
My money is on 7.1 being the only "big" update we see this year

Lol have you ever followed the LG scene? Seems not.
As I already told LG never updates to this minor release, it is also one of the fastest OEM to release the major versions of android, G5 received Nougat officially on November.
Again, this is based on the past of LG, which are facts, not on rumors without source.

Either way, an update to either will be nice and the sooner the better. But, to be honest, I am more concerned with gaining root/twrp. Being on a tmo model that is bootloader-unlockable out of the box, we usually get it sooner than later...at least on my prevous g2, g3, g4, g5.

Agree, if this year LG decides to make better updates releasing 7.1.1 for G6 i'll be pretty happy, this sort of things are always good, but well i don't have much hope for the reasons i've already explained xD
Root won't be a problem for Europeans H870, as always, but for the T-Mobile one, if it won't support the official unlock then you have to hope that devs find something similar to the findings on the G5 and V20, good luck :fingers-crossed:

What is so annoying is they let us unlock the bootloader on the TMO model, but they strip out all the fastboot commands, which screws over. I believe the Euro mode still has the fastboot commands, but I am not sure.
But now we're getting way off topic. :-0 See you in the proper threads
Based on the updates I'm receiving on the Korean model, I'm optimistic about a 7.1.2 update coming in the fall maybe September.

That's not a valid excuse, 7.1 came out in oct 2016, 7 months later the s8 was released with an os that came out in august 2016.
These are not midrange phones, we deserve better.

So what is your complaint exactly? You're angry about the fact that we didn't get a rom then, even though we're getting the latest version now? You knew about it, bought it, then came here to complain about it 7 months or so afterwards?
What was so important that changed from 7.0 to 7.1? I have a feeling you're just looking to whine about anything possible
My complaint is pretty clear, not sure why you can't see it.
When Android 7.1 was released, it was seen as a Nexus/Pixel exclusive with pixel-only exclusives. It's more surprising that the Note 8 did come with Android 7.1 than the S8 not getting an update. Most skinned manufacturers decided early on to skip 7.1 in favor of 8.0
Why didn't we get 6.1?
Samsung releases the major builds and frequent updates. We don't need stuff that's more suited for a pixel. If you're that concerned, buy a pixel.

Sorry I should have been more clear and misunderstood. By the time that 8.1 was out development on 8 would have already started.
Short answer. Do you seriously expect them to complile thousands of packages all over again for a version that changes basically nothing, only to do it all over again 2 months later for a major release?

Yes, that's their job, they dont get to take a year off after compiling one version of android. If they can release x.1 updates on the note they can do the same on the s8.

Googling about this topic, I can see expected release dates for U11 and U10, but not for U ultra... when the h*ll are they planning to deploy the OTAs? It's been seven months since Oreo went GA... the 2014 Nexus 6 I left behind two months ago, had a newer android version on it (7.0.1)... okay, it was a Nexus, but a 2014 one...
