Hi,
Is there any problem connecting my Joying headunit to my cars (Skoda Superb) original GPS antenna? OEM antenna is on the roof in a "shark fin".
There are FAKRA-adapters available, but Joying told me it's not gonna work.
Why? Is the signal different or what?
i used an adapter for my Jeep and it worked fine, got one for like 5 to 10 bucks on Amazon

Hi.
My Skoda Superb has navigation from factory, including GPS antenna on the roof. Does anyone know if this antenna will work with an Android head unit (Joying)? I need an adapter from FAKRA to SMA to physically connect it, but I don't know if the antenna would be compatible with regards to voltage, impedance etc.
The built in antennas has normally power fed to it. You need to verify it still has power or utilize
the antenna power from the HU. Else it should work. I've Hyundai factory antenna that I'm using.
Adapters are available everywhere. I bought mine from Aliexpress.

Ok, I've got antenna power for the radio antenna from the HU, but I don't know if it's needed for the GPS antenna as well. I will try and connect it with a passive adapter and see if it works.
Seems to work with just an adapter. I'm getting around the same signal levels as with the included antenna mounted outside the car.
I have one of these DAB antennas from a previous head unit that I used to own: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DAB-Digi...-Car-Stereo-/142339021511?hash=item2124111ac7. I have recently purchased an Xtrons PE86M203PL head unit.
My question is - will I be able to use the old DAB antenna or do I need to purchase a new Xtrons USBDAB01 antenna (http://xtrons.com/car-media-fitting-accessories/dab/usbdab01-usb-2-0-digital-dab.html) ? Not sure if they are essentially the same thing or if you need to have specific antennas for specific head units.
Many thanks in advance for any help/advice !
should be fine if your reception was already ok
What is your opinion about using the cheap included GPS antenna (more or less the same one comes with all head units) hidden behind the dash? Is it as good as connecting the head unit to the car's old GPS antenna?
I reused my Toyota factory GPS antenna (by means of a connector adapter available on the Internet) and the satellite reception is perfect.
The factory antenna is generally located in the best car's reception position, often difficult to reach for installing a new GPS antenna.
Yes same here with my Skoda. My aerial is a combined DAB & GPS so no need for a USB DAB connector either and reception for both is perfect
Is there a difference in signal quality in these window antennas? I am wondering if swapping the one i have now will boost signal?
My original car radio only had FM which worked flawless. Since upgrading to the android head-unit…FM is impossible to listen, strange as it uses the same car antenna to connect into it?
I opted to buy a DAB+ antenna as the head unit will accept one but this is not great either. Any ideas?
You may have an active antenna on your cars roof and missed to connect the power supply.
I only have bad experience with the DAB windows antennas so I was forced to replace the existing antenna.
Hi Since fitting myself an android Head unit we have lost the rear parking sensors

The link above is the one we bought , we didnt buy the rear camera as we thought the rear sensors would still work .
My question is this ...........is it possible to have the sensors working with the head unit at all or do we have to buy a rear camera .If we buy a rear camera do we just then get an image on the head unit but no sound from the parking sensors ? . If truth told i would sooner have the beeping from the sensors .
Bare in mind im no electrician and dont have a clue .But it is in and fitted and working on sygic satnav and i have installed DAB radio via a dongle to the cars own built in antenna not the packaged kit one that comes with the DAB usb dongle .
Im sort of bodging my way through it but the sensors look a step to far and an auto electrician is needed but i want to know if it is possible to do .
The car is a Ford Focus 1.0 petrol ecoboost 2012 reg hatch .
The sensors must have worked either through the stereo unit or the old display unit not sure which , i have connected up all the original possible connections from the car to the new ones for the android device but there is no joy so something is missing .
What does the reseller suggest when contacted for support? Has that been tried and what was the result?
Suggest consulting a reputable installer first.
