Can't wait for this! Blackbird on my HTC One M8 was the best!

This is brilliant news

What your kernel does to make the phone sound better.
I tough that audio based on flinger and libs.

As beta's are now out, I'm guessing you'll be waiting on Official before releasing?, To me that's only logical....

Are you referring to the oos beta's? Because currently I don't have e any betas of my kernel for anyone to use... I am currently preparing source up for when my new RYZEN does come in the mail... Last part needed for my new PC. After that I will be non stop jamming on source.. won't be fully releasing details on plans yet either...Want some sort of surprise lol

Have been using his kernel in nexus 6. It's great to have you here.

Hi, do you plan to implement the conservative govenor? What about the option to disable some wakelocks like in elemental x?

[Poll] Best Rom for the Xoom

Receiving a used Xoom soon and was reading many many forums on Xoom roms and want to see what people are using. I would like ICS of course, not really concerned with overclocking. I run AOKP on my Galaxy Nexus and never have looked back. But not sure the best route for the Xoom.. I know ROMS are personal preference but still want to get an idea to see who's leading the pack and packing most of the latest features and addons.
Sorry if I missed any roms.
Thanks Guys

To be honest, most people use EoS, I think.
However since a couple of weeks there has been a huge battery sucker in it
CM is also one of the most popular roms, but I prefer EOS or the Bugless Beast ROM.
However the latter has come to a standstill due to some personal issues of the developer, still: it runs amazingly smooth without need to over clock!
All the other roms are okay, I guess, but I can't help you with those
Just my two cents ;-)

Thats what I run on my GNex too but didnt see many posts on the Xoom so wasnt sure if it was up to par as the GNex version.
AOKP has been my daily on the Xoom for a month or two now, runs like a dream.
I have been running AOKP on my XOOM for some time now. I really like all the extra features. However, I think that what the Xoom really lacks in development is a Kernel. I have been spoiled with Faux123 on my Galaxy Nexus. But the kernels I have been using on the XOOM have been outdated. Anyone have a kernel recommendation?

AOKP ships with stock kernel right? EOS and Rogue are usually on top of keeping their kernels up to date. EOS kernel is tiamat and there's a thread somewhere around here for it and Rogue.
Edit: Better yet get this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager
Its GooMamager. Browse files and under kernels there's are a ton that claim "Compatibility". I think the ICS kernel is very unified. Goomanager will also notify you when your ROM is updated, and as long as you have an open script recovery, Goo will download the Update and make a backup in Recovery (with rename prior to backup) wipe/wipe cache and install new update then reboot almost like an ota. So easy now. Also notifies when gapps updates. I guess its the new ROM Manager.
Anyways at the bottom of the kernel list is Rogue with what looks like an up to date kernel.

Yes. As far as I know, mz505 can be rooted. But these roms were not tested with it.
You can still root it. Also try to flash the rom of mz604 on it from team EOS since it is wifi only. Might work. Or just enjoy a rooted device.

[Opinion] Best optimized rom for gaming?

Hello! So I'm sure you've been asked this question before, but I'm curious to see some updated answers since there is a decent handful of roms available for the S4-1337 now.
I am very much an Android gamer, I've been using the sixaxis application with a Dual Shock 3 controller since the application was released; and have been hooking my phones up to TV's since I could. It's essentially my "gaming console".
Currently I'm not running any custom rom on my s4, it's just rooted and using xposed framework with wanam installed (for stock touchwiz customization).
I however have noticed that no matter what I do, I won't get the speed and frame rate I desire with the stock rom; as it's just too heavy on the phone. I'd like the opinions of other Android gamers here about what custom rom they find is best optimized for gaming and overclocking (if necessary). Generally something that's lite but has a lot of customization that I desire.
I currently am a devout player of the Modern Combat series, other games are touch and go once in awhile.
Thanks,
Branden.
I just want to give you a heads up, this might get closed down as "best for xxxxx" isn't allowed.
My suggestion to you is to flash a slimmed down ROM or a ROM thats well known and slim it down your self. Also, the stock Google edition base is a goof foundation. Don't forget kernel settings tweaks!

I don't really want to give out names as I don't love to play favorites but since your new.. I'd advise against CM/AOKP ROMs that are nightlies as I think they're not for casual gaming since commits change daily. @task650 tends to put out some stable choices for a ROM based on aosp. (Aokp).
For kernels I've found there is community favorites. Faux, chronic, ktoon. (No order). Try them out and see for yourself.

[Q] Porting Oxygen OS to Nexus 6P

Would it be possible to port Oxygen OS to the Nexus 6P?
This is a good question.
I was going to ask this also.
I am very interessted to see Oygen OS on 6P. The latest OS looks very good!
2 questions
#1- Why would you want to?
#2- What is missing in stock that OxygenOS has that you want that you can't get with Xposed or one of the 20+ custom ROMs?

Not really. "Smoothness" is usually a very controversial topic because of how human psychology works, and you can't compare especially since there are a lot of other factors involved like the SoC, RAM, background apps etc. If you're comparing OxygenOS on the OnePlus 3 to stock on the Nexus 6P then I'm afraid you can't really make an objective decision because the OnePlus 3 has a 1080p screen along with a more powerful SoC. As far as the OnePlus 2 goes, based on personal experience it's not as good as stock on the 6P, but again my experience isn't something anyone can bank on due to above factors.
i doubt it will get alot of support being Proprietary software. i recall it wont be open source in 2015, just the sources for hardware.
like htc sence and touchiz you best buy the phone if you want it.

I wont agree. If you see AOSPA are the first custom rom which adds not only new features but improves core stuff as well. The camera and new post processing algorithm for example is better than OOS which is a huge step also the color engine though in its infancy is very good and is building on top of OOS theme engine. They have also fixed the voice call drain using custom firmware. So there are things they have done right and improved stuff. So I guess AOSPA has started right. If they can just continue making solid improvements its would be a fantastic idea.

Improved camera quality is a big boast. I don't think they'd do it if they couldn't back it up. It's been sitting on my internal storage waiting to be flashed. I think I'm going to back up tonight and flash my first custom rom tomorrow. That's really and truly a testament to OxygenOS as well as Paranoid Android.

Yes let's hope so. My intentions was to know whether this would be available on stock rom's or just custom rom's. I think Oxygen OS is above par as compared to the best smartphones out there when it comes to stock rom so this would be a stellar addition as and when it happens, or lets say if it happens.

Oreo 8.0 Custom ROM's popping up everywhere

As I scroll through everyday threads here on XDA I keep getting amazed how fast the developers are building Shamu ROM's with Google's latest and greatest Oreo 8.0.
So far I have used only SiXROM, versions 1.1 and 1.2 and it has been very good, especially the 1.2 version, which now looks more polished. Force closes are almost entirely gone now (it random rebooted just once, don't know why), and to my knowledge with only the NFC not working at all.
I've seen also (and getting very good reviews by users) that there are a couple of more Oreo ROM's like crDroid (version Beta 2 - 18-Sep-17) and Republic of Madness ROM Oreo (21-Sep-17) with a lot more coming, like PureNexus (I guess), LOS and Dirty Unicorns. And although we are still at early stages, these builds are almost ready to be used day-to-day.
Anyway, just wanted to know from you if you had a chance to use any of these Oreo ROM's for the N6 and what you think of them thus far.
Cheers and keep on flashing.

I don’t like these kind of polls because then we’re trying to favor one rom over another. We shouldn’t judge a rom based on feedback, because every rom is different. It’s like everyone will have a different opinion.
But anyways, I’m waiting for a stable build, I know these devs are doing good work but patience is a virtue.

What About GApps?
So far I've only tried S.i.X's first Oreo build, it was looking pretty good then and it's likely gotten jmuch better. Not only waiting for more stable build, but I want GApps, I use OpenGApps. My shamu is my daily driver, I travel a lot, and I use it a lot so it's gotta be stable. Though I usually keep a copy of a good stable release build at all times in case I run into trouble and need to get things working fast. Most of my favorite devs are building Oreo for shamu so I'm sure there'll be some cool stuff happening in the next month or two. I can wait. I think Carbon ROM is building Oreo too and I'm also curious to see what OctOS might do.
