Does anyone know if the Priv will get Android N? I'm getting one on sale ($280) Also, owners can share their respective experience with the device.

It is my understanding that the development of ROM for this phone may be limited since it won't be available in the US. Right now, I'm wondering if there's anything we could do to try to jump start development? I don't have enough knowledge to develop anything on my own but maybe I could supply data using my Moto X Play? I know enough to install stuff like TWRP without bricking the phone. Anyway, at least, we don't have to suffer the atrocities of an ugly skin like TouchWiz since Motorola adopted a bare to the bone attitude with its firmwares. I also heard that these Motorola phones will be among the first to receive an official Marshmallow update.
I'm in the same boat. I don't know what's all involved with custom kernels or anything, but would love to see how we could tweak our phones.
It's being released over there as a droid variant is it not?

On Verizon, which is quite different from a cellular radio standpoint (not to mention good luck getting the bootloader unlocked (I'm sure Verizon won't let you use Moto's unlock tool)
Hello i am considering this phone to buy on amazon india prime sale today.
So my questions to you guys are:
how is the community support here? I need a phone in which i can experiment and try new things.
How easy is to root this phone?
Also timely update from moto is anothre question? How often fast is moto giving updates?
Any other advice would you like to give me ?
1) In the US, Amazon sells 2 versions, a normal version, and a with ads version. The with ads version can't be rooted or flash Roms, so pay the extra and get the non ads version
2) there is a toolkit that someone made to root it easy. If you want to do it manually, it's just a few commands from your computer while the phone is in fastboot, nothing too complicated.
3) if you use custom Roms, Moto updates don't matter. If you stay on stock, assuming you don't buy the cheaper with ads version, Moto seems to be releasing updates to you guys within a month or two of the security patch. Not horrible, in my opinion. If you get a custom room like Lineage, you are ALWAYS on the latest patch!
4) it's a great phone. I really like mine a lot. No complaints here, other than a few odd software things, all of which were solved with updates or custom Roms. If you end up buying, get the bugger phone. In the us we have a 4gb and a 2gb version, I believe you guys in India have a 2gb and 3gb? Either way, spring for the higher ram version, it's worth the extra cash!
Thank you for taking time and answering me that sums it up. The only thing left now is if i am buying amazon ads version. I will contact amazon since i am not able to find it out on product page. Thanks.
Hey All,
Looking at picking up one of these phones certified refurbished from Amazon for about $170. I'm wondering what version of Android I can expect OR get automatically updated to when I set the phone up?
I really want (need) some of the features in Nougat, but want to make sure it'll get there without me having to relive my youth as a rom chasing nerd (which I loved but am too old to do these days lol).
Any other advice around this phone (or other similar "cheap" deals) people have will be appreciated.
Thanks much!
I wouldn't recommend getting a 6P due to the infamous bootloop issue caused by the Snapdragon 810 processor and the early shutdown issue caused by the battery. Also, it only has about 5 months of support from Google left. After that there will be no more security patches, official updates to Android 9.0, etc.
To answer your question: the 6P will probably come with Marshmallow or Nougat and is upgradable to Oreo.
I'd recommend getting a Google Pixel or Pixel XL. It will come with a least Nougat and is upgradable to Oreo. If you MUST have a Nexus device, the refurbished Nexus 6 my dad got from Amazon recently is pretty good. It came with Nougat installed, but that's the newest version of Android officially available for it.
Thanks for the tips man, I appreciate the advice!
I know Moto G7 users in the US have got this feature. Ive tried everything other than rooting it so decided to put it out to the forum
Hello everyone, new xda user here. So I have a korean LG v20 I bought used 2 years ago. Bought it because it had a replaceable battery and for these past 2 years, I have been happy using it stock and updated in to android 9 when that came out.
Lately, I have been getting an itch to install some mods and stuff but I'am clueless on where to start. I used to jailbreak iphones and ipads back in ios 6-8 and I had some experience rooting and installing xposed modules on some budget xiaomi and lenovo phones but that's the extent of my knowledge. I was wondering if someone could point me to the right direction... Threads to read and what not.
I've been reading some older threads here but I'm not too sure if it would still apply in a v20 on android 9. I'm guessing I would have to downgrade my software or something. Any comments or tips would be really helpful.
As for what I'm looking to do. It mainly has something to do with the second screen and modding it. Thanks in advance.
