Nougat Carrier Differences - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Hello! I succesfuly installed the Nougat version for T-Mobile on my Unlocked Sprint Galaxy S7 Edge. I love the system and I definetely cannot go back to Marshmallaw and that annoying random reboot issue I had (Totally gone after I installed Nougat). Everything works like a charm Voice, Voicemail, USSD codes etcetera. The only problem I have is that I live in the Dominican Republic and the T-Mobile version of Nougat I believe is not recognizing the 3G network of my carrier. I checked online and the 935T recognizes different bands than the 935p (If im wrong please correct me).
I only have 4g and 2g so far, sounds good when you read it, but here in the DR, not all the places or regions have 4G, so I get to have 2G in some areas and I just cannot stand such a slow connection and Im looking for a Fix so my phone recognizes the 3g network. I tried playing a little with the APN's of my carrier but in all the APN's the 3g (and only the 3g) doesnt work.
If I Odin to the Nougat version of AT&T or Sprint, I suppose the problem would be fixed.... Suggestions?

SM-G900i use with AT&T

Hello all, i have a question regarding an Australian Telstra Galaxy S5 with att service. the phone works with voice and text but has no data or mms. i have added an apn from my sim card in a galaxy nexus that gets me edge service. i have found band selection in the service menu but non seem to make it any better. I'm sure LTE won't work but thats ok. as long as i can get 3g at least. do i need to flash say the att s5 modems? if so how? i have the modem file and another already extracted from the att firmware. thanks in advance.

Using a foreign handset on a system will never give you perfect coverage. That is by design, as both Samsung and carriers want to lock you in, not make it easy for you to change carriers. Or do so without buying a new phone.
The specs for your variant suggest that it has full coverage on ATT's 3G bands and partial coverage of their LTE allocations. You don't need an ATT modem, just make sure that your firmware is recent - which it will be by definition, as the S5 was only released a few months ago.
Unfortunately you didn't provide much detail, in particular whether you were roaming or a regular ATT customer. Things that you might check in general, that your phone doesn't blacklist any ATT MCCs (roaming restrictions). That you have the correct APN information and that your ATT SIM is properly provisioned for LTE.
.
Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. In service menu, I was picking compatible gsm bands. Back to network screen in settings, had it on gsm/lte only. That was giving me edge. Read more into wcdma and used network mode wcdma/gsm. That gives me H or H+. I know I won't get lte but with that network mode and another apn, I'm satisfied with the end results.
It sounds like you inadvertently blocked coverage with your previous settings. The default setting is automatic band select which should have worked fine.
Glad you figured it out in the end.
.
Yeah. It was the apn that was hurting me. Default it used the wap.cingular apn. I put my sim in a galaxy nexus and used the apn that gave me. Plus changing network mode. Thanks though!

Any way to use Wifi Calling for T-mobile by Galaxy S5 Verizon?

Hi All,
I moved Carrier from Verizon to T-mobile, and found one good feature of T-mobile S5 is not working in Verizon version.
Wifi calling, I'm using Galaxy S5 Verizon, all others are good, except Wifi calling.
Sim error was already handled by rooting and deactivating service.
Is there any way to activate wifi calling feature in Verizon Galaxy S5 version, I searched, but by locked Bootloader, I can't install T-mobile firmware in Verizon version, and also I can't do Safestrap with OG5(with root) rom either.
My Verizon S5 phone is very good in most of area with T-mobile, except my office, by poor T-mobile signal (I guess, there is Verizon router in my office area, and locking my signal, for when I out of office, full t-mobile signal is detected, but when I enter to my office, all dead. , no problem when I used Verizon Carrier )
So I need wifi calling feature at my office, but I can't use it with Verizon version.
If you guys can provide any other recommandation. it will be very helpful to me.
Thank you!!!!!!!
I found the answer from the other thread.

Downgrade to NCG build (Kitkat) by odin again and then rooted.
And then followed guide in the link (I used Flashfire).
Only one thing in Twi5ted Lollipop 5.0 V7, Select "No thanks" to sharing data with Samsung in EULA Screen or will meet sim problem.

In that case to resolve the issue, need to factory reset and then restart initial setup again.
(I did )
Currently my one looks good
Wifi Calling, Bluetooth, GPS and all of other functions working good.
nm
I really wish wifi calling wasn't so locked down on Big Red (VZW). Hangouts dialer is a good alternative as long as the wifi is stable enough.

Simultaneous Voice Call and Data

I have the international Exynos version of the S7 Edge and find cellular data stops working as soon as the phone gets on a voice call. The H+ symbol disappears, browsing stops working etc. At home it is not a problem as the phone is connected to Wifi and voice calls don't effect it, however, out and about, when on cellular data, internet is all lost.
Is it that the s7 doesn't allow simultaenous voice+Data?. I thought that was a problem with Verizon only, GSM (AT&T etc) versions don't have that problem?.
Riz
Have the same version and same issue. Heard that it's not possible to do voice and data together...Not sure how true it is
Got tmobile in the usa.
I have always been able to talk and use the net at the same time.
I do it all the time. Seems like no one knows how to looks stuff up so they always call me.
This worms for me on network 4g and wifi
I have the same problem on my g935f unlocked in europe, so I can confirm it's not an American company issue. I'm regularly using my phone as a hotspot for my ipad and whenever I get a phone call the H+ turns into G (2g) and Internet stops working.
Same here. It was like that since my first Galaxy S, it's a technical limitation of network protocols. At least in Europe.

Hang on lets rewind.
Are you in the UK.
The 4G network here in the UK is getting there, But its still got along way to come.
One of them is the ability to pass Calls via 4G.
The problem you have in the UK is 4G is data, While H+ etc is for GSM
The UK have not bought the ability to do both yet.
What should happen, is you will be kicked of the 4G network to take the call, Then be re-connected when you finish the call.
This is not device specific, Its Network Region Specific

The S7E supports VoLTE. It's working on my device. But your carrier has to have it as a service.
Otherwise, you should still have 3G when making a call. If you don't, that doesn't seem right.
VoLTE
In order to make calls and use data at the same time mobile phone networks need to either ...
support VoLTE (Voice over LTE) on the network (Three in the UK is currently rolling this out).
or provide phones with dual antennas, one for voice and one for data (I believe some US networks do this).

No 3G, that's the way normal LTE does works. Just like 2G, because if you make a call under 2G, data connection will be turn off.

Basically it goes down to network support. I never have such problem with 3 UK but work Note 4 on Vodafone sometimes disables data when in call. Sometimes doesn't. Which leads me to believe that it's not just network but also particular towers.

Quick question about VoLTE: Has anyone tested if VoLTE works on the international version (SM-G935F) on AT&T?

I can only tell you that international version supports VoLTE, wherever it'll work on AT&T I don't know.

Each VoLTE network requires a special firmware. There is no AT&T firmware for international s7 edge (still, it might be custom roms supporting this).
I'm in Europe and with international s7 edge I can use voice and H+ data connection at the same time.

LG V20 H990N on AT&T - Help

I'm on AT&T and just bought an unlocked LG V20 H990N (Hong Kong version). I took the phone to AT&T to get a new SIM card and have it set up, but it wouldn't connect to mobile data. The people at the store told me to call customer service since the phone is considered "jailbroken," and they couldn't get it to connect. Customer service referred me to tech support. Tech support told me the phone isn't being recognized by AT&T's network. The phone is being recognized as a 2G phone, which obviously isn't the case. They submitted a request to provision the phone to their network, which could take up to two week. They said I should have 4G access as soon as it's complete. Has this happened to anyone?
From everything I've read online, the phone should have no trouble working. People use it on AT&T just fine so I don't know why this is happening. I can make and receive calls. It says "3G" at the top, but I can't connect to mobile data. I can use it on WI-Fi only. I'm not a tech savvy person. I was hoping to get some insight here. Any information would be helpful.
This phone (hong kong version) has several data networks like GPRS, EDGE, TD-SCDMA, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, TD-LTE, LTE, LTE-A
Theoretically it should work.
Ask someone at the AT&T store to check if the sim card is OK

If the SIM card isn't OK, would I be able to make calls and text like I can now?
Someone mentioned that the phone isn't working because I didn't use my old SIM card. Should this even matter?
I went back to AT&T. They tried different APN configurations and eventually got it to connect to mobile data.
But it's only a 3G connection. How do people get 4G LTE with this phone in the U.S.? This is so frustrating.
Using the Taiwan version H990ds, no issues. 4G LTE on bands 2, 4 and 17. H990N should support the same bands so you should get LTE.
Brother,
Can you advise where you find the root procedures or how you root the V20H990N (Hong Kong Version)? It is because I also has one but I don't know how to root this phone.

International S8 (SM-950FD) On Verizon

Hey guys,
I bought the G950FD on eBay so that I could root and tweak it the way I always have with my previous phones. I use total wireless which is on Verizon towers and have gotten the phone to connect just like it should, text, receive/make calls, and use data. To do this, I used the Flashable CSC Collection here to switch the CSC to VZW and it worked for a while, but after restarting I started to get some problems that I can't sort out.
1. Calls do not work anymore - I can't make or receive them at all. Dialing a number just says "Dialing" with some zeros below it, and calling my number goes right to voicemail.2. Data cuts out sometimes and shows no signal. Recently, I tried to search for carriers and reconnect to Verizon but now I can't get a connection at all without restoring a backup.3. Other observations: Using a signal info app, it seems like I only see band 1 and it is usually very slow. CDMA obviously doesn't work, so maybe that's why I can't register on the network anymore, but why did it work when I first booted up? I can't change the APN settings after switching to VZW CSC and also can't see an option for VoLTE, but that must be working right? Only some ROMs seem to work with the VZW CSC and allow me to connect to the cell towers. Changing the network mode does not do anything and just reverts back to 2G, which doesn't make sense because 2G shouldn't be possible. None of the codes that can be entered into the dialer to run the activities have worked or helped at all. When connected to WiFi, the no signal bar shows 4G connectivity and the signal bars reappear but I am still not connected.
So, what can I try and does anyone have knowledge to share about cell towers, SIMs, registering on the network, or anything else relevant to my situation? I am completely stumped and would love any input that you guys could give me and future 950FD owners who might have this issue.
I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys know,
Joe
Only verizon phones work on verizon, you can't use a non-verizon phone on its network even if its supports its frequencies. Lte on your s8 is compatible with verizon's but after it worked for a bit they disabled your imei from their network, nothing you can do about it.

Thanks for the reply! I do not think they have blocked my IMEI because I just restored a backup and everything works again. I believe it has something to do with the settings on my phone or possibly a bug with Android/changing the CSC because changing the network settings cause crashes, disconnects, and other weird behavior.

Lol don't give misinformation, they don't do this, in fact I'm pretty sure forcing all users to have phones obtained through Verizon would be completely illegal for a Telco to do. VZW doesn't even know what type of phone you have unless you register it and even if you do they don't care.
