I have the Verizon s7 Build PI3. My phone is rooted and FoxFi does work with it but I want the native hotspot app to work . I tried looking through build.prop but I had no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
thanks

I think you have to go with a custom rom. If I'm not mistaken they patched it after the initial release of pe1. I'm running the stang5liter rom and it works right out of the box.
If you flash 930u you can have wifi tether but lose wifi calling
So is there any possibility of free hot spot for grandfathered Verizon people with nougat? How do we disable auto update?

If nougat is released for the U firmware and you flash it to your phone then it should have native tethering just as marshmallow does.
So Is there root for the s7 Verizon nougat? Trying to keep my stock s7 from updating to nougat but not even package disabler premium will keep it from updating? Just want stock Fox fi on my unlimited data plan to work

There is root for nougat. If all you're looking for is tether, there's a debloat s7 rom with tether enabled stock without needing other apps just fine. The root for nougat isn't very stable.

My S5 is running OG5 and FoxFi works just fine for WiFi tethering.
I still have VZW Unlimited Data, so having a working hotspot is not a given (i.e. not automatically included with my data plan).
Recently, my phone started prompting me to install an update. I have not allowed it yet.
Is that the OK3 build I see references to? Or is there some newer firmware out there?
Whatever it is, does anyone know if FoxFi still works with it?
I definitely do not want to let my firmware update and lose my ability to run a hotspot!
If nobody knows about FoxFi, can you at least confirm that the build I'm being prompted to accept would be OK3? Other than FoxFi, is there any reason to either want it or specifically not want it? If it seems to be okay and I just need confirmation on FoxFi, I will email the developer (once I know for sure what build I need to ask about).
Thanks for any info.

Thanks! I let my phone update. I'm now on OK3 and FoxFi is working just fine. I'm posting this from a laptop connected to my FoxFi'ed hotspot. And, for the record, I am not rooted.

Well, I don't see why previous updates broke FoxFi, either.... But they did. The developer has always come out with an update to fix it. But, I don't want to be in a position where I have upgraded and can't use my hotspot until the dev fixes something. The S5 is 2 generations old now. It wouldn't surprise me if the dev stops supporting it soon.

any word on if the update prompt for the samsung galaxy s5 is the pb1 update and if so that foxfi works with it?
I'm pretty sure it's PB1, but still no word on FoxFi. I emailed the FoxFi dev to ask and have not gotten a reply from him/them, either.

My S5 is totally stock, not rooted. It is prompting me to let it update to 6.0.
I have Verizon Unlimited Data (so no free hotspot). I use FoxFI to turn on the hotspot in my phone.
Does anybody know if FoxFI still works after installing the 6.0 update? I don't want to update to MM and then lose the ability to run my hotspot.
It works

It worked for me when I first upgraded. I'm now unlocked and rooted, but had no issues initially.
Hey guys, I'm stock, rooted, s-off with magisk and I'd like to be on Lee Droid or Viper Nougat with working Magisk and Verizon features. The way I'm reading their guides, it seems I would have to be on Nougat firmware for that. Does that mean I can convert to US Unlocked Nougat with updated firmware, then to Lee Droid or Viper Magisk and pass safety net while having nougat and advanced calling and such?
Thanks guys
I'd love to know the answer to this as well. I don't have many friends using Verizon, so I don't use the Verizon features much. I'm just kind of tired of Verizon being slow with their updates. For some reason I keep being stupid and buying Verizon phones despite the long updates for 4 different phones that have been on Verizon. :/
you guys have to flash the US unlocked RUU and then flash the Verizon radio for it to work. From what I've read you'll have the features you want. But since I haven't personally tried I cannot be 100%. there is guides on how to do this.
IMHO, I would wait for Verizon, it is always best to use your carriers firmware. It wont be much longer even though itll feel like a lifetime.
I'd love to get a confirmation on this as well. I can say however from my own experience that running VZW firmware with viper10 4.x.x ROM that everything works great EXCEPT volte (HD calling/ advanced calling features) I'd like to mention to others who are experimenting as well that I can format data, flash 3.5.0 and have volte back up and running no problem. My theory is the issue lies in the VZW firmware being a MM version. My next step is to flash the nougat RUU, flash the VZW radio, and then the viper nougat ROM. I'll share the results once I get the chance to do everything. Again if anyone can chime in on this method that would be greatly appreciated.
ROMs now support Advanced Calling with Magisk.
now just need vzw nougat.

Did you do anything special when you installed the ROM? Could you tell me what steps you took installing it? Just wondering if I'm missing something. I have the latest VZW firmware installed as well. Are you positive that advanced calling is working? I notice that when you make a call the data signal icon will remain on the status bar (unless you go into venom tweaks and change it to anything other than the stock icon, then it will disappear) but there won't be any traffic and I can confirm it by trying to load a web page.

So this is the last intermediate step to getting the extra verizon functions to work? Im assuming once androidkitchen is fixed to set the values properly, we should be able to build it in directly?

That's what it's looking like to me. With some work it is possible to get ROMs working on MM firmware with VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling. Santods rom has had this for a little bit and now with this new information, if one was to say combine both, the outcome is great. But I'll leave that to those more experienced than myself, but it is possible now thanks to all these brilliant minds.
Is the magisk files in the magisk repo?

Even better. Didn't realize that 4.6.0 was out, so I don't know of the change log.
Wasn't bragging by any means also.. Was just stating that it works, and was sure smarter devs would get it soon.
I can confirm that the viper 4.6.0 upgrade does fix volte for vzw devices running mm firmware. The changelog says only working for non magisk version, I suppose that's due to no nougat firmware/RUU released from Verizon yet. If that's a deal breaker your gonna have to wait, otherwise make sure your running the supersu only version. I upgraded from 4.5.0 and it works perfectly. Something I've noticed over the last few months with all the flashing I have done is that if you go into the hidden network info screen, if it shows 3107 for your carrier, it won't work, if it says Verizon wireless as your carrier, then everything is working as it should. Thanks for the update in the rom guys this is GREATLY appreciated for the hard work.
Is G930AUCS4BQE1 (May 24/25 2017) the latest SMG930A firmware?
I'm on a factory-provisioned SMG930V (Verizon) and and looking for the latest U(nlocked) and A(T&T) firmware, to try them each out and see how they play.
Also related, as I understand it, the 5th letter from the right ("4" in the above example) indicates the bootloader version, which cannot be downgraded. Is that correct? i.e. I couldn't go to G930AUCS2APH1, which has v2 of the bootloader?
Thanks.
You are correct about the bootloaders, and the most recent OTA for ATT is QH1 from August. But we should be seeing Sept leak soon, and hopefully beta 7.1 as the Note8 is suposidly shipping with 7.1
As far as the U firmware goes, I personally dont keep up with that as I didnt want to give up videocalling/volte and cannot do without wificalling.

Thank you very much.. I need to do some more research on U vs. A firmware, it seems. one of my big pet peeves is the carrier bloat. Has your AT&T phone got much bloat?
Also, regarding wificalling, am I correct to presume that it's integrated with the phone itself, and not just another form of something like the Google Hangouts Dialer?
My phone has all the bloat froze or disabled, so its managable. You can search on here for a debloating app or script.
as for wifi calling, its cooked into the rom, but no one has been successful in getting it to actually function on ATT.

I came across this, which suggests there are fixes/patches that can be used (and one person insinuating they've done so) to get wifi calling operable on the U firmware:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68011352&postcount=36
I've got a couple of debloat scripts in my S7 folder; just prepping the final path of whether I to A or U firmware... I've heard that the U firmware should be (carrier) bloat-free, but no wifi; I'm using a V model on AT&T so the AT&T would be useful, but I"d need to deal with carrier bloat.
Have you found that OTAs still work properly, after freezing or disabling bloatware, or have you had any adverse impacts to functionality?
mine works fine no issues. And that thread is for verizon's wifi calling which is different from ATT. It would also require root.

Actually, it's in the Verizon section, but it's about taking a Verizon model to Unlocked firmware.
If you are on the U firmware, flash S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_Debloater_V15.zip then Verizon_VVM_Volte_Wifi_Calling_G935U_Fix.zip
Note: I realize it says G935U, but it works on the G930U firmware as well.

I'm using the ATT device with Google Fi Oreo firmware. Everything is working mostly ok except the hotspot feature. I read that it only works on ATT and T-mobile SIMs apparently. Is there a way to enable it? Either via some third party app or Xposed module?
Flash to GFI/NA Pie and you'll have hotspot. Hotspot is borked on Oreo at least 10h version.
