so i have a new zenfone selfie bought in china, so from the first day i noticed that headphones are not recognized, i read that this problem could be the firmware version so i tried to update via OTA, but no firmwares were available so i went to ASUS website to verify and in fact there is a newer firmware than what my phone has.
So i tried to manually download and update but when i unpluged the phone or restart it, it doesn't recognize the new firmware, so next step was trying to update it through adb.
in the phone settings it says that i have WW_21.40.0.1877_20160903 firmware so it's a WW sku firmware so everything i tried is with WW firmware updates and when i tried updating it with adb sideload it says "cannot read" so i was stuck until i tried a CN version firmware with adb sideload and FINALLY! something happened it started updating until it aborted installation, here is what the screen says.
since i can't post a picture i'll write exactly what the screenshot says

I repeat EVERYTHING I TRIED DID NOT WORK even though i'm 100% sure that i was doing everything right it didn't respond to any of the WW SKU firmwares, it only responds when i tried with a CN SKU firmware EVEN THOUGH i currenly have a WW SKU firmware installed....so i don't know what to do, i think i have to change my SKU from CN to WW but there isn't any clear instructions on how to do it, please guys can you help me with what should i do now?

Hello, I have the same problem and I cant update my Zenfone 5. Have you a solution ?
I'm having a hard time debricking my phone.
Everything started yesterday, when I tried to update my Zenfone to MM (6.0); I've downloaded the files from Asus Website, but in the first install, the phone suddenly started to boot in Fastboot mode. Well, I've download a debrick to get access to the Recovery mode, however, I can't install any stock ROM for two reasons:
If I try to ADB sideload, it simply shows:
Code:
* cannot read 'UL-Z00L-WW-1.17.40.1531-user.zip' *
I've checked the folder, and the file is there. I can guarantee that is not a problem in the path itself, since I am using absolute path to the file.
If I try to Install from SD Card, it get stuck at:
Code:
-- Install /sdcard/update.zip ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
How should I proceed then?
Experiencing the exact same problem, what seems to bother me the most is that there is no real 21.40 recovery for ZE550KL (or any zenfone laser for that matter) despite the recovery updating itself when you update the firmware.
if I could download a stock 21.40 recovery instead of the 1.15 they let us download it would help tons
Hello, my friend! I found a solution to our problems but unfortunently I can't post links here
try googleing this:
[Experience Sharing] ZE550KL: Manual update to latest firmware WW-21.40.1220.1708
it worked 100%. Hope it helps!
I think this is the link for solution
https://www.asus.com/zentalk/in/thread-88877-1-1.html
this will help i hope
Hello, today my sister updated her Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551KL from the automatic installer in the phones menu and now the phone is stuck in a loop of vibrating, showing the ASUS IN SEARCH OF INCREDIBLE logo and then rebooting again. First I went into recovery and wiped the dalvik cache, then I did a factory reset and neither worked. I also went to the ASUS website to download the last two most recent firmware files available and tried side loading from adb but then I would get cannot read '*name of file*.zip'. After that I tried using the "apply update from sd card" but I would get stuck at
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Then I did another factory reset, went into fast boot and tried to flash stock recovery and boot images but I would get FAILED (remote: Permission denied, phone is protected), probably because the phone is locked. I'm not sure what else I can do, any help would be appreciated, thank you.
I just got a new ZE551KL - Z00TD. I planned on unlocking the bootloader, rooting, and installing CM13.
The phone came with Marshmallow. I found out that the Asus bootloader unlock app will not work with MM. So I wiped the phone and tried to downgrade to LP.
I have tried to install two different ASUS firmwares via recovery:
UL-Z00T-WW-1.15.40.639-user.zip
UL-Z00T-WW-1.17.40.1531-user.zip
Every time I get the same error:
Installing update...
Device image SKU:
WW
OTA image SKU: WW
This package is for "Z00T" devices; this is a "Z00L".
E:Error in /sideload/package.zip (Status 7)
E: fota_return_code 409
nstallation aborted.
This error doesn't make any sense. The phone is a Z00TD. The label under the battery confirms this. This is the only mention of this error that I could find via google:
asus .com/zentalk/thread-96133-1-1.html
Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi all,
On my unrooted / unmessed with Yoga Book, I've been having issues with OS update for several months, every time I try, I get:
Supported API: 3
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
The update I'm failing to install is: YB1-X90F_USR_S000196_1611040312_WW06_BP_ROW_TO_YB1-X90F_USR_S000239_1612091428_WW06_BP_ROW_WCAC703BC6.zip
Any hints/ideas? The Lenovo forums just said "try again".. I have, for several months, still no dice
I have a local copy of the .zip, any way I can more manually apply it?
Thanks,
Jess
same problem here, any solution yet?
