Any option to turn of stock camera capture sound? Tried keeping all the volume levels to zero. Still you can hear the capture sound
T-mobile works. I don't think it works on Verizon.

Unfortunately, I believe the only solution is to root your phone. From there, you'd be able to modify system camera files to permanently disable any and all camera shutter noise.
There are several threads on this topic.
Apparently it's illegal in Japan to have it off due to privacy issues so they never changed it for the rest of the world. Drives me mad too.

Try turning your phone to vibrate or no ringer.

Have tried that still no good
Try turning on do not disturb mode see if that works.
Also go into accessibility, hearing, check turn off all sounds

Okay, I did a little searching on XDA, and found that the only way to remove the shutter noise and video record beep was to unlock and use an explorer to delete the .wav files... Is there an alternative to doing so? I am currently on NoDo, and I'd prefer to stay on it if possible.
On a side note, is this fixed for the Mango update? There are a few issues I'm looking forward to them fixing. I hope this is one of them. I heard it's supposed be a manufacturer's decision to add the beep, but Mango should still offer that option.

Touch volume up/down, than the "ring" icon on the upper right half. It will turn to "vibrate". For pictures/videos I had no sound in NoDo and don't have in Mango using this. "Restore" back after photos

I heard of that method, too. But when I change my ringer to vibrate or turn my sound down all the way, the shutter still comes up.
In any release prior to Mango, the only guaranteed way to defeat the shutter sound (without hacking) is to start playing a song in the Zune player, pause it, and then turn the volume all the way down on the phone. Anything else seems to have mixed results, but that method always works.
In Mango (not sure about the beta) there will be an option to turn off the sound.

That actually worked, thanks. I tried it with loading a video instead, and it also worked. Unnecessarily tedious, but at least now I know I can turn off the shutter sound temporarily.
I'm surprised there isn't a camera app yet with this feature.
I just updated to Mango with a dev account about an hour ago. There's a dedicated on/off check box in ringers and sounds now.

Definitely easier with an on/off for sound, but I prefer a dedicated shutter/record sound function.

Yeah. That's what I meant. Or at least what I think you mean.
You want the shutter sound to be off, right? The Mango has an option just for that. Leaves other sounds on, shuts the shutter sound off.

Yeah, it is what I meant. And I'm glad. Thanks.
I hope it starts having smarter data usage, like Android and iOS. Kind of annoying going to settings all the time to turn on data/wifi.
So I went back to stock NK2 yesterday to try the OTA 5.0 update for a little. I noticed silent mode is gone. You used to be able to silence everything EXCEPT your alarm but now it will silence even your alarm which is scary. I don't want to have to worry about remembering to make sure my phone volume is up in order for my alarm to go off. I googled this and found other people talking about it also. For now I am going to Odin back to NI2 but I was wondering if there was a workaround or fix for this because I want to try some 5.0 ROMs but not if this isn't resolved.
It's not gone. They changed it to Interruptions under Sounds & Notifications. You have to set up what to allow through when the phone is in the different sound modes.
There are three sound modes. Sound, silent (vibrate), and mute. Using the volume key all the way down is silent mode. My alarm works fine in silent mode. One more press on volume down puts the phone in mute. A pop up appears stating that the alarm will not work in mute. If you use the sound toggle to switch to silent then mute it does not give you this warning.

Yea I saw the new options and they are pretty pointless. I am going to have to avoid lollipop until they bring that feature back. From what I've been seeing online there is a lot of people complaining so I hope they will.
I just don't wanna have to worry which setting my phone is on for my alarm to work. I'm back on KitKat now and it's nice to never have to worry. My phone can be on full volume, vibrate or all the way silent and my alarm will always go off.

It is definitely a problem. Hopefully it gets addressed in a future update. Confusing part is that in the Interruptions menu it says alarms always are a priority, yet using the volume keys it states that alarms are silenced. Major oversight IMO.

Yea I'm sticking with KitKat until its fixed..honestly with touchwiz there isn't much of a difference or a point to go to 5.0
Some days o really miss my S3 and unlocked boot loader. So many more options with ROMs. Even my original droid x and galaxy s4 had more of a dev community

Anyone else experiencing bugs with Moto assists? I've seen numerous reports of various bugs. Let's get them all out on the table in this thread.
When I go into driving mode my ring tone volume gets set to zero and then I'm unable to adjust it up ever again unless I reboot the phone. I spoke with Moto support and they had me clear cache through recovery but it happened again the next day.

No issues here. Do you have an app that adjusts audio like an equalizer? Are you using xposed?

No xposed either? So you simply go to the Driving Action and it kills the volume? Does the volume slider work but the actual ringtone sound doesn't?
No xposed. Yes only ring tone volume gets muted. Rocker won't adjust, nor can I by going into settings. I have to reboot to enable it.

I think I found the culprit! I use an app called Tablet Talk that syncs text messages with my Nexus 7. I was killing off apps one by one and when I killed this one my ring tone volume returned!
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
There is also an app called Shush
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.publicobject.shush
that when you turn your volume down to mute a scroll circle pops up and you can select the amount of time you want before it turns back on your ringer volume to the loudness of your choice. During driving, weather its enabled or not it plays havoc with the phone when a call comes in and flashes uncontrollably with the contact on the screen.
Some apps dont play nice while driving mode is enabled and working
My in call volume is too low by default and its super annoying to have to turn up my volume every time I make a call. Is there some setting I haven't found to turn that off?

Use the "adapt sound" setting man. It'll adjust the sound to your hearing type.. works great. It's more louder after enabling it.

Mine are hit and miss honestly. I have a lot of custom ringtones, and some are loud some aren't. I do have a set that I modified for the LG G3 that had the loudness boosted. I may have try them. I don't know if its a speaker issue, or what.

I think the placement of the speaker may have something to do with it. I mean. sometimes my email notification goes off, and its loud. and then if I'm holding the phone, and the same notification goes off, its softer, so I wonder if I'm blocking the speaker ya know?

Pretty sure sounds are reduced when you're detected to be holding the phone
I've noticed it really depends on the ringtone or sound itself. I was missing the ones i was using on my M8, so I ended up downloading them and adding them to the 10. Azalea is tone of the loudest notification sounds I've found.

yeah, here's where I downloaded them. Azalea is much louder than any of the stock HTC 10 notification sounds.

I have a slightly different question about ringtones and notifications. I've been able to add my own ringtone, but can't figure how to add a new notification sound. I thought it would be as easy as dropping a sound file in the notification folder like my M8, but nothing is showing up in settings. Is there a particular file it needs to be, or am I putting it into the wrong folder? Or am I just doing something completely wrong?

I also had this issue. I found that after placing the notifications in the Notification folder and then restarting the phone, everything showed correctly. For some reason the phone had to be restarted before they would show in the Notification selector screen

does somebody here noticed this? when the phone is ringing this ONLY sound in the lower speaker very muffled and low, the upper speaker not sounds at all
when i hear music this sounds very good in both speakers ( i´m usin poweramp)
it seems like a software/ error
Happening on mine also.
Transmissum est uti Tapatalk ab Xperia Z-IV tabula meo
Also happening on mine. Ringtones and notifications sound great when I'm selecting them, but when I actually get a call, email or text they sound muffled. Its very annoying. Any ideas?
I wrote to HTC chat ( customer support), I did everything that they told me, and nothing ( i cleared the wipe cache and them I did a factory reset). They said that the query was upscale to the developers and they should include a fix in the next software update . I´m sure about a software bug. Does somebody try to root and use Viper4A?
It's getting weirder: like you guys already said before, the ringtone only fires from the bottom speaker which sounds just muffled and overall bad. Though after around 9 seconds it seems like the top speaker kicks in and suddenly I have a clear sound, just like how the original file is supposed to sound. Is that are a hardware defect or just a really annoying software bug?
Edit: Just noticed this is the Verizon thread, while mine is a European model of Three UK/AT on 1.53.
Anyone figure this out? Once in awhile I've had it where it did play out of both speakers while receiving a phone call. Really don't like how low the ringtones and notifications sound out of just the bottom speaker.
