Sidebar in Android Marshmallow 02/2017 Update - Galaxy S II General

I just installed the latest software update for Android 6.0.1 the other day on my Samsung Galaxy Express Prime (SM-J320A) and since the download I have an annoying sidebar with no ability to turn it off. I also have no multi-window options which is what Google search results suggested I do. How do I turn this thing off???

You are definitely in the wrong thread, anyway check "developer options" to enable multi window, don't know about the sidebar, it's probably a rom option, so you will find it in settings..

I've got the same annoying bar on samsung sm-a8000. Need help to remove.

a voice comes up when editing folders in drawer

Hi guys.
I flashed RR v7 on my note (so ICS).
Maybe I have got a hidden setting I didn't know the existence before.
If I put in edit mode the app drawer to manage my apps in folders, when I open or close the folders there's a synthetic voice telling "folder opened, folder closed" plus something else....
Am I wrong? Any suggestion? I want to get rid of that. Only doing this operation I hear that. Really annoying. I did not check anything in voice settings...
Thanks.
Check System Setting > Accessibility for a Voice Over feature. Turn everything off in that menu, might be it.
Thx mate. Already checked and everything is off. In my opinion is due to the custom ROM I have. In fact it is the only place of the entire phone where I have such voice "help". There must be some hidden recall to voice function active on that. Quite annoying but I can survive.
Thanks for your reply.

I had this 'bug' using the new galaxy s3 launcher. I've reverted back to stock launcher before i found the cause of it.
Hope this leads you in the right direction

Mate, you are right.
I changed the default s3 touchwiz with the classic one and the "bug disappeared".
So it is related to the new touchwiz itself.
Thanks so much to have given to me the right tip.
Cheers!
You mean feature lol

Feature? Yes if it would be a thing I can choose..
Not this case...
I had a similar problem but was triggered by my 'Iphone Notifications' app, it looks like apps enable under 'Settings/Accessibility/Services' can trigger this wierd behaviour in touchwiz, i disable iphone notifications and the 'Folder Opened' voice goes away, I enable it and it comes back.
If you disable any Text to speech (TTS) apps installed, usually have a Google one and a Samsung one installed in Stock ROMS, the problem should disappear. Its a well documented problem with Google Talkback.

Hi.
Creator of iPhone Notifications here.
Here is a fix to your issue :
http://www.productigeeky.com/faq/#1
This is a bug in Samsung's software, their dev team has reported to us that they have found the bug and made a fix and it will be released in the next update.
Thanks for your interest for our apps.

[Q] Is there any way to disable Recommended Shortcuts in notifications?

Does anybody know how to disable Recommended Shortcuts in the notifications shade? It appears every time I plug in the headphones. I remember that I had to freeze an apk on my Sgs3 to disable it on early firmwares. Later there was an option in the clock settings to turn it off. For the life of me, I can't find that option anywhere on the sgs4...

I've noticed that if you stop the Page Buddy service before plugging in headphones, it no longer appears. That said there's no option for Page Buddy like there was in the Note 2, or at least not in the same place it was on there.

Yes exactly, I have it disabled on my note 2 (haven't yet managed to sell it on).
I wonder what does this page buddy do on a SGS4?

From the description it's supposed to provide contextual pages.
I disabled the app and the notification went away. I'm leaving it disabled for now to see if it affects anything else I use.
Also there is an option for "Show notifications" for the Page Buddy service Application page. I just unchecked that, leaving the application enabled and the notification is gone now.
I wonder: What is "recommended shortcuts (earphones)" and where can I configure it? I like the idea, yet I'd like to configure it.
But I can't seem to find a setting or app. Is it really connected to a "Page buddy" app? I have no such app on my SGS4.

[Q] How to Remove "ongoing wifi" on Galaxy S4?

Hello Guys,
Can any1 figure out that how to remove this "ONGOING WIFI Connected" from notification list..??
I am using AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4..
Will appreciate your help..
Thanks in advance
There's a mod for it in the development section that changes several aspects of the phone including the wifi notice. The search function in the development section should bring it up for you.
If you've updated to AMDL check out my Dev-Resources thread for an installer that includes this mod.

Your thread and Adam's "restore" thread need to be stickied in the Development section. Unfortunately, people seem to not read anything before they mess with their phones but if it were stickied, maybe more people would see it. Thanks for the great work.

Hello, I found out if you hold the notification then go to "app info" and then you click on "force stop" it goes away!

it worked! good call!
xposed options
That thing is a waste of notification space, isn't it.
I personally would be hesitant to force close a system app. At the very least, it will eventually come back. Possibly it will have some unintended consequences.
I think that hiding the continuing wifi notification is one of the things NottachXposed can do:

I'd think Wanam (xposed) can do it too, but I didn't see it specifically listed in the long list of features on the playstore:

Any Way to Remove "Recommended Apps" w/ Headphones?

Is there any way to remove the "recommended apps" notification that pops up when you plug in headphones, with or without root?
Settings -> Application manager -> swipe right to "All" tab.
Scroll down to PageBuddyNotiSvc....click it...Turn off.
This will turn off all of those recommended apps. Not just when plugging in headphones.
There's another way to disable each one, but requires a Nova launcher from the market. If you use that, let me know. I can post that way too.
I would like to know please.
Thanks

I was looking for a way, then realised you can use Xposed Framework to do it - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-installer-versions-changelog-t2714053/post24267797
Install from the link above, then install Wanam Xposed, there is a option under Sound to disable it.
Hope that helps.
I've searched many forums and no one seems to have the settings I have with my Galaxy Note 3 running 5.0. I don't know why Verizon hasn't updated this model to 5.1.... but, I don't have "Pagebuddy", mine is actually called "Recommended Apps". I can see the process running. I can Force Stop it. But it comes back. And there's no setting that I can find in all of the android settings to turn it off. So am I crazy, or does this particular setup have no way to shut off this notification?
(and I can't root because it's a company phone)
SM-N900V.07
Android 5.0
Kernel 3.4.0
Build LRX21V.N900VVRUEOF1
Config B13.SAM.SMN900V.0
*** EDIT ***
Found it!! It wasn't under "Sound and Notification" as expected. It was in the "Display" settings. Then in "Notification panel", it's called "Related Apps". Turning that off gets rid of the notification for earphones.
Hope it helps someone...

Remove the edge panel?

I can't find any option to remove or disable the edge panel. Is there a way to do that?
Try going into Settings> do a search for "edge".
Turn off.

There is no such setting anywhere in the settings.
Open edge panel, punch gear icon, turn off
I would do that if that'd be an option. No gear icon.
I have Samsung Galaxy Tab E 9.6 (Android 4.4.4)
Try finding it in apps.
Sure it's Samsung Edge? Not another app or malware?
I really tried everything! That's why I asked here. I'd appreciate if someone who turned it off on this exact tablet would tell me exactly how it was done.

Without the gear icon you can't adjust the settings. With the panel open it appears in the lower right hand corner at least on Notes.
I like Kitkat but it's primitive compared to Pie.
Possible malware... play with it.
No option to disable it. Not malware, just a "feature".
Maybe there's an app or something that gets rid of it? I have my tablet rooted.
OMG, I just figured it out. It's called "Multi window". Disabling that gets rid of it. Multi window
Problem solved!

Yeah I can see why it was hard to find
However Edge Clipboard is very useful as it allows you to store a dozen or so cut/paste's.
I use this constantly. The hidden tab is fully adjustable on the Note's so it doesn't get in the way.
