Remove the edge panel? - Samsung Galaxy Tab E Questions & Answers

I can't find any option to remove or disable the edge panel. Is there a way to do that?

Try going into Settings> do a search for "edge".
Turn off.

There is no such setting anywhere in the settings.

Open edge panel, punch gear icon, turn off

I would do that if that'd be an option. No gear icon.
I have Samsung Galaxy Tab E 9.6 (Android 4.4.4)

Try finding it in apps.
Sure it's Samsung Edge? Not another app or malware?

I really tried everything! That's why I asked here. I'd appreciate if someone who turned it off on this exact tablet would tell me exactly how it was done.

Without the gear icon you can't adjust the settings. With the panel open it appears in the lower right hand corner at least on Notes.
I like Kitkat but it's primitive compared to Pie.
Possible malware... play with it.

No option to disable it. Not malware, just a "feature".
Maybe there's an app or something that gets rid of it? I have my tablet rooted.

OMG, I just figured it out. It's called "Multi window". Disabling that gets rid of it. Multi window
Problem solved!

Yeah I can see why it was hard to find
However Edge Clipboard is very useful as it allows you to store a dozen or so cut/paste's.
I use this constantly. The hidden tab is fully adjustable on the Note's so it doesn't get in the way.

[Q] Is there any way to disable Recommended Shortcuts in notifications?

Does anybody know how to disable Recommended Shortcuts in the notifications shade? It appears every time I plug in the headphones. I remember that I had to freeze an apk on my Sgs3 to disable it on early firmwares. Later there was an option in the clock settings to turn it off. For the life of me, I can't find that option anywhere on the sgs4...

I've noticed that if you stop the Page Buddy service before plugging in headphones, it no longer appears. That said there's no option for Page Buddy like there was in the Note 2, or at least not in the same place it was on there.

Yes exactly, I have it disabled on my note 2 (haven't yet managed to sell it on).
I wonder what does this page buddy do on a SGS4?

From the description it's supposed to provide contextual pages.
I disabled the app and the notification went away. I'm leaving it disabled for now to see if it affects anything else I use.
Also there is an option for "Show notifications" for the Page Buddy service Application page. I just unchecked that, leaving the application enabled and the notification is gone now.
I wonder: What is "recommended shortcuts (earphones)" and where can I configure it? I like the idea, yet I'd like to configure it.
But I can't seem to find a setting or app. Is it really connected to a "Page buddy" app? I have no such app on my SGS4.

Air Gesture not working

I've just bought GS4 since yesterday and I found an odd problem...
When I enable the air gestures for example air jump, air move etc. none of them works.

even It's icon doesn't appear on the status bar, but it appears when Im trying the tutorial... and It just disappears when i go back to the menu..
And I have not installed any rom or update yet...
any Idea?

I found that when u enable it, it just works when on certain situations... for example when u are viewing pics u can go to next pic with air gesture or when u have a call u can answer it... but when there's no use for air gesture for example when u are in menu it's automatically disabled...

I'm in the same boat. Air View works maybe 10% of the time across all apps that support it. The odd thing is that I took my new S4 into an AT&T store to see if they could figure it out. They checked all the settings, which were correct. They were stumped also. We could get it to work rarely, just enough to frustrate you. There were two guys trying to figure it out. They finally just gave me a new phone. We set it up for my account etc., loaded everything from the cloud backup, and what the hell the new one does the exact same thing. We just sat there and looked at it in disbelief. We must have played with both phones for an hour and a half and made no progress. I even started deleted various apps (I don't have a lot), but nothing. I'm totally stumped.
did you guys figure out anything, because my sgs4 gestures do not work at all, none of them, and they are ALL switched on in settings...
Very odd...
I used to have problem with air gesture .but noe its working good .
Check that
menu-my device-accesibility-put magnification gestion to off
AHA about Gestures not working!
For some reason, Samsung has hidden toggles for the gesture features WITHIN the gesture features... what I mean is if you toggle ON the gesture called "air gesture", NOTHING WILL HAPPEN unless you then tap to the LEFT of the toggle switch, and go INTO the Air Gesture sub-menu. Once you are in there, there are 5 OTHER toggles which must also be on if you want to use all the air gesture features.... WEIRD that Samsung did this without saying "Tap Here to select Air Gesture features" or something...
Mark.

Disabling Swipe to Call/Swipe to Message in Stock Messages App on Galaxy S5

Im trying to disable the swipe left to right to call, and swipe right to left to message feature thats in the stock Messages app on the Verizon Galaxy s5. I find myself accidentally calling people Im texting, and trying to explain why I called. I like swipe functions, but this particular one can be quite annoying, especially since the option to turn it off isnt exactly the most obvious to me.
Ive tried going into settings in the stock messages app, and theres nothing there about swipe commands. I even went into the settings and tried the motions and gestures option, nothing. Language and input, nothing. I even tried to edit the settings in the phone app, and you can only disable swipe to call when youre in the phone app, but nowhere else, which seems a little counter intuitive to be able to turn it off in the phone app, and not in the messages app.
Is there something Im missing? It really isnt making much sense to me that it cant be turned off. The Messages app Im talking about is the one that looks like a white envelope, with a yellow sheet of lined paper coming out of the top, not the Message+ that comes with the Verizon bloatware.
If anyone can help Id really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
Cannot just disable the message portion you have to disable the complete swipe action. To do this, open dialer then select menu ->settings -> Contacts -> uncheck "Swipe to call or send message."
I know this is older but I am trying to disable the same feature. Un-checking that box only effects contacts, not the action from within messenger. Is there a way to disable it in messenger also or is the only option to not use the Samsung one?
I do hate when crappy "features" are not optional.
I ended up ditching the stock app and going with a paid version of chompsms. Works great and doesn't have this feature. To delete or call a contact from the conversation screen its actually a long hold action, which is a bit safer from accidental deletions.
Worked for me. Was so annoying, thanks for the help!

Hey guys! Still nothing? Are we stuck with this "ingenuity" for good?
Man, I hope just one of the morons who designed this feature read this thread one day. I hate this feature.

what the heck is screen overlay detected on axiom 7

It about stops me from doing uploading pictures, downloading. It's driving me crazy anyone else having this problem?
Yea lots of people are. Anything that changes the status of the screen like some kind of screen filter like twilight, night owl, any of those things, can mess with this. It's been pretty annoying. I have Twilight set to a timer to eliminate blue light on the screen before sleeping and I have to freeze and defrost it several times a day. Apparently it's an issue with ZTE. There is a thread over there about it.

I guess that it should actually be a security feature to prevent an overlay app from abusing any open apps below it... but it is really annoying that the ZTE integrated feature Mi-POP will also make this warnings display... you can simply deactivate it through its notification bar shortcut but it's still annoying...

I'm going to guess you have MiPop enabled? is so turn it off and your screen overlay issue might go away.

Screen overlay is new in 6.0 to prevent apps from creating an overlay and giving permissions to themselves. It's not an issue with ZTE.
Yes screen overlay is new. Came from a N6 and never had this problem on stock 6.0 from Google. Facebook messenger will not do anything other than message can't call, or send pictures. Yes it is a problem with ZTE

Go to the "Apps" setting, and then click on the "gear-shaped" setting button to go to the "Draw over other apps" menu and turn off all apps that are enabled. Go back to the "Apps" setting and click on the app that needs permissions modified. When all the permissions are updated, go back and enable the "Draw over other apps" for those apps you disabled.
Use this app it will get rid of that annoying overlay issue.

floating pop-ups

hi. anyone found out how to disable floating pop-ups? i see the option to disable it, but then you'd also disable the vibrate/sound.
is there a method to disable only the floating pop-up?
What are you referring to?

no. when a text comes in, it pops up at the top of the screen. thats the thing i want to get rid off, but cant seem to unless you turn off sound/vibrate as well.
Did you try settings>apps> then select the app that you want to disable floating popup > scroll all the way down to the bottom and select apps that can appear on top and then switch this option off.
I did this for esexplorer which kept showing floating add icons
