Try the app GOODEV Sound Booster. Do not encrease booster over 40% bc it will damage the speaker. Also, I recommend lmiting max boosting to 20%

Step 1: Download ‘ES File Explorer’ for Android from Google Play store.
The ES File explorer is one of the best file explorers for Android Phones. It comes with an easy to use interface, is light on RAM and allows easy access to the root of the system. We’ve already posted some things we did using the ES File explorer. Download the ‘ES File Explorer’ and install it on your phone.
Step 2: Enable Root Explorer in the app.
The ES File Explorer also doesn’t want any user to get into the root of the phone, because messing up with the root of the phone could create problems. To protect unwanted access, the File explorer by default doesn’t allows access to the Root.
To access the root on the ES File explorer > Click on the Menu Button > Look for Root Explorer and turn it ON and now a popup will come asking whether you want to grant access to enable root access, in case you don’t allow. ES File Explorer won’t be able to explore the root files.
Step 3: Then enable write access on system partition as follows:
After enabling ‘Root Explorer’, Tap on the Root Explorer again and a pop up will come with many options, Among all the options, Click on “Mount R/W” and then select ‘system’ as ‘R/W’. Hit OK. This will enable write access to the system.
Step 4: Find to3g folder inside sound folder.
Now navigate to the outermost folder of the file explorer. Search for “Device”. You will see one folder named “device”. Now open etc folder and open sound folder. Look for a file named “To3g” and open the file as Text in ES Explorer.
Step 5: Change the Values of Sound using ES Note Editor to increase the volume.
Step 6: Save the File & Test the Volume.
Once done with the above editing work, you are supposed to save the file and reboot your phone. Now check the volume level, It should have increased, if you feel that the volume level has increased to a level more than it should be then again follow the above steps and set the level which is suitable to you.
Step 7: Turn off Root Explorer and Select “R/O” for system to remove write access.
Well, your done with the sound level on your phone. But you enabled Root explorer and also gave “R/W” access to the phone. So first select the R/O option for the system by clicking on the Root Explorer to remove write access and then turn off Root Explorer.
Step 8: Reboot the device, so that the changes are applied and work correctly. After the restart, you should see that the low volume level problem is solved. In case you are having High volume problem, then you can follow the same steps but just reduce the values.

Help with wpa_supplicant and Ad-Hoc Wireless

I am following the instructions as per the below thread to allow my Acer a500 see my Nokia N900 for tethering purposes.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033314
I have copied the wpa_supplicant file over the one thats already there.
Now when I open the Terminal Emulator to try ADB remount it comes with an error saying device not found.
I have the wifi turned off, I also have Root Explorer, but I found File Manager HD quite handy.
Now after trying the instructions I now dont have wifi - it comes with an error.
I have tried copying the stock wpa_supplicant file across, with no success.
Can someone please help.
to get AD-Hoc working you first need root and either root explorer (paid app but worth the money) or es file explorer (free but you have to enable root privaleges inside the app. its under the settings menu)
1. navigate to system/bin and copy wpa_supplicant
2. past this to your sd card as a backup
3. rename wpa_supplicant to wpa_supplicant.old
4. extract the file from the download and past it into the system/bin folder. (should be wpa_supplicant)
4. Long press on the file once copied
6. select Permissions and set to User: RWE, Group & Others:RE only
This is the easiest way to fix this... make sure in root explorer you set to rw at the top left in order to rename copy or past into this directory..
Good luck
this is the file .

Thanks for that, your a genius.
Now that my device can see my phone, I cannot see any web pages.
Is there something else I need to do?
That is very odd .. try rebooting the phone and the tablet..
also try on the tablet
go to settings / applications.. go to the web browser.. and clear cache and data..
is only thing i can think of ..
never had a issue other then my cell sometimes get hung on a cell tower and a reboot fixes this.. .
try connecting another wifi device to the phone to determine if its the tablet or phone..
I ended up changing the program I use to tether on my N900 and now works a treat.
Once again, thanks for your help
Thanks erica_renee . Worked right on point !
You are way too much girl....)))
So I guess THAT's why we should be nice to her!

I just remembers how to do it and do not mind sharing what i have learned with anyone...
So i guess i should say thanks to everyone who is actually a developer or close.. for all the hard work they have done to make my tablet enjoyable to use..

I downloaded es file explorer and enabled root exploring as well as "Mount File System" (which is supposed to make the system writable) and with or without the mount file system, I cannot find the System file nor bin. I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wifi Only. It's running Honeycomb 3.2. Any suggestions?
Not my credit
This fix is not from me.. I just re posted something that has been around since our tablet was released.. I would say give that person the credit. I am not sure who actually did it .. I think that file originally came from the ZOOM FORUM.
Anyway Just wanted to make sure that was POINTED OUT.I only know from what i have read for my own personal use.
Thanks All ... Erica Renee

Can anyone help me with this?
check you su. update the su root binaries . make sure busybox is installed and updated..
you can check the last two with root checker . a app on the market..
There iss also somewhere in the settings. that show a mount point . .something like /mnt/sdcard.
this should be just a / in there to have access to the system folder. I dont have es file explorer installed as i did not like it.. but i do remember having to change this defalt mount or folder option.. Astro file manager and some others also have this defalt . You can also keep going back and will take you there ..
Even though Titanium Backup says I have BusyBox, another app I tried to install said I did not and needed to install, so I went to the market to install and BusyBox says I need to perform Nand Unlock before installing BusyBox. Can you point me in the direction for doing that. I have the Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wifi Only. I see alot of stuff out there but not sure if it's right for my tab or if the instructions are universal to android users. How did you do Nand Unlock?

I am presuming you mean "File Expert"
Do this to allow you to delete system files:
1. Click the menu key and select More.
2. Within that menu click Settings
3. Select "File Explorer Settings"
4. Scroll down and select "Root Explorer"
5. Click "Allow" in the window that pops up
no root button in explorer
Okay let's do this another way.
1. Download ES File Explorer from the Market
2. Open it up and press the menu button and select "Settings"
3. Scroll all the way down and select "Root Explorer" and "Mount File System"
There.
thank worked can this way delet stock apps
You can, but don't get too crazy, some apps are needed for the system to function properly
directory apps system?

[Xperia Z2] Disable Charging Sound and Other Sounds (ROOT NEEDED)

Many people have a problem with this and don't know what to do.
I think the charging sound of the Sony Xperia Z2 is really annoying and useless. It makes the device feel cheap (at least for me).
So I explored some folders and files in my phone, and I finally found the fastest way to disable the sound.
Turns out there were some other sounds in there too!
Basically you need a rooted phone and a root explorer. I use Cheetah Mobile's File Manager but you can use anything you want.
Enable Root Exploring and then navigate to /system/media
You can see here that there is also the boot animation file.
Move on to /system/media/audio/ui
Find the ChargerPluggedIn.ogg file
Rename to ChargerPluggedIn.bak (basically you change the extension)
Reboot device, and there you go! You can also disable any other annoying sounds from there if you want.
Note: To restore any sound you disabled, rename it back to FILENAME.ogg or whatever the extension was, then reboot.

Thanks hicked for your work on this mod.
I followed the instructions but used Root Browser instead of ES Browser. (I don't know if this made a difference)
After the restart audio failed to work on the internal speaker or on earphones. It gave me an "audio stopped" mesaage
I accessed mixer_paths.XML through Root Browser and changed the permissions to the same as in my attached image. After another reboot audio worked again, and was noticibly louder through the earphones. Also tested on my Bluetooth speaker and on my Bluetooth headphones and they seem to be louder now too.
Great work!

I think it's too loud. Sound is distorted in max volume.
Thanks for this.
But I can't install it.
I am having android 4.4.4. My phone is rooted but I dont remember if I installed custom rom o not lol.
I love my z1 compact and it still working perfectly, I bought it in 2014 in Germany, I rooted it my self and never updated it for fear of bugs and problems with the battery.
My only problem whit the phone was that the sound is quite low, so I would like to try this. But I cant paste the file into the system/etc.
I think its because I dont have the privilege to rewrite the files in the system folder. I can activate the root explorer in the Es file explorer but wont let me change the r/w mount. When I check the read and write option nothing happens. Press accept, open it again and its still on read option... I tried with other explorers too without success.
Could it be because the super su isnt updated? When I open super su a message appears saying that the binaries arent updated. When I try to update it fails...
Thanks for your time and advice.
Finally I can use HyperX Cloud 2 with my Z1 Compact! With original file my phone don't have enough power to power them.Thank you so much man!
