Ubuntu Touch Port possible? - Moto G4 Play Questions & Answers

Is is possible to port Ubuntu Touch OS to our phone? I saw the WIP for Moto E (First Gen). I think it is a great OS because we can simply boot the OS in our phone to our PC, just like Windows 10 Continuum. If anybody is interested, please please please do it..... :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

[Q] Which is the best linux distro on the n7?

Hey,
I have used Ubuntu 13.04 and while it sort of works with LXDE (rotation issues), it is kind of old and so it's not very useful. The link to Plasma Active 4 KDE doesn't work, even the http://d-h.st/Khh one doesn't work (gets you a 14KB file..). Bohdi linux is ancient (early 2013 build). Arch linux installs with the latest slice (2015.07) but the wifi couldn't get configured (something with dialog missing) but the COM port serial connection worked fine. There is a Ubuntu Touch 14.9 RTM version but nobody seems interested in looking into the grouper version..
Anyone wants to provide me with a working archlinux image, a working link to Plasma Active 4 or help with installing Ubuntu Touch 14.9 RTM?
Thanks,
Aurora ^^
Nevermind the post, the stuff just didn't download on the nexus, on the computer it's fine ^^ Bohdi is good since it's based on Ubuntu 12.04 and has support till 2017 ^^ Anyone interested in Ubuntu RTM 14.9 though? http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch/ubuntu-rtm/14.09/daily-preinstalled/pending/

Not particularly interested, but would definitely like something other than Android for a change. Thanks for posting this
Okay! Maybe someone can make a script to make it work since it seems pretty interesting ^^

Ubuntu on Moto X ? Pls

Hey guys...I was just hoping to know if anyone is willing to port Ubuntu for the Moto x?
It is already there for the moto g and I thought it would be easier to port now that moto g has it.....really looking forward to using Ubuntu on this phone(just for a change)
Thank you for making moto x a better phone than it already is!!
Like, a chroot environment, or full blown linux loading from it's own partition from a special bootloader?
chroot is easy, true genuine linux might be a little more work.
I meant the Ubuntu touch (sorry)

{Q} Custom ROMS (AOSP/CM) for Galaxy A8 (SM-A800F)? Any possibility in Future??

Hello all
I was wondering if there will be AOSP/CM ROM for this device, not a single ROM is available and no dev is interested to work on such a great device.
Such a totally crap device, still stucked on 5.1.1 since launch, no dev is interested in the development either, where android n announced already, we are still waiting for Android M update, i wasted my money on such a **** device, will never buy a sammy mid range in future, m totally fed up with this
I think because there are few developer with that phone and they can't test their work. You can port ROMs such as CM to you phone by your self. There are tons of guides and forums. All u need is a linux OS (such as ubuntu, debian and others) and sources.

yep, I'm on kali and I use windows 10 to play games, so the only thing is: take care when partitioning. After you installed ubuntu there is a bootloader called "GRUB" and there you can choose if you want to boot windows or linux

Android rom dump?

Hello,
Can anyone provide a dump of their Android rom or a link to a full OTA?
Would like to try to get it to dual boot on Windows version of the book.
Thanks!
if i'm not mistaken it would require root to make a full rom dump.
unfortunately we don't have root by now.
Remix OS
If someone could get Remix OS working with dual boot that would also be awesome Very keen for a dual boot solution and I think Remix OS would be a good fit for the Yoga Book. Although I'm not sure is the keyboard would work, would you need a driver for it?

Yep, that's what I tried already but the screen is rotated sideways (portrait) and the keyboard doesn't work... that's why I'd like to check the custom version by lenovo =)
hi...
does anyone have stock rom for YB1-X90L android Or how can i get it...
thanks in advance...:victory:
Anyone has been able to install Android on the Win Yoga Book? I love the functionality of Windows but sometimes it's a little laggy. I'd love to use Android for the daily stuff and use Windows for more complex tasks. I've seen that Lenovo posted he sourcecode of the Android OS for the YB. How can I install that on the Windows machine?

RemixOS anyone?

Hey guys,
has someone maybe tried to install RemixOS on the windows version of the Yoga Book? I would be interested if everything works well or if there are any drawbacks? I think if it's good enough for daily use we could get the best of two worlds - if you need it you could fire up windows and otherwise you just go with the (imho very exciting) RemixOS Android for x86 systems.
I tried to get Remix OS to boot from a memory stick but it got stuck on the Remix OS logo. I'm not sure if it is because it was connected via USB 2 and not USB 3.0, or if there is another issue. I also have a feeling if you could get Remix OS to boot the keyboard wouldn't work.

It boots but indeed keyboard doesn't work, so you cannot go further in the android initial setup. Also screen is rotated (sensor seems to not work) by default.
There's been an ota dump provided in a thread I started here if you also want to hack your way there.
What about now
