OTG Does not work directly on the s3 neo because the usb port doesnt have enough power, you can try to use a external powered otg cable.
Or do it like me:
There is an APP which can enable otg, required ROOT privileges, and you can use USB stuff like:
USB-Mouse, USB-Keyboard, USB-Stick(i tested 1-16GB), USB-HardDrive(ex. 500gb external usb HDD), Charge an other device/phone/Bluetoothspeaker, and so on.
App required ROOT privileges!!!!!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-neo/themes-apps/otg-enabler-t3423727 (I'am using this)
or you use: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-neo/themes-apps/root-neotg-otg-enabler-t3438645 (not tested by me, just read the comments)
On the app(first link) You just install it and open it, tap the switch, allow su access, and you'll see your device getting Charged(Top left power led is glowing), and usb devices do work. If you'r done, just tap again the switch and use it normally and yes you can close/minimize the app while otg is enabled
Don't Charge your Device, i dont know what can happen so dont try it, may be nothing happens but i dont want risk my device!
Sorry for my weak english(-grammar)

Backtrack 5 running on N7100

So I installed backtrack 5 successfully on my Note II running ARHD 14 and Perseus kernel, but I have a little problem. I can partially run airmon-ng but the internal wifi adapter can not be used in monitor mode so I want to find out how I can make a WN722n adapter to work using OTG adapter.
Backtrack seems to recognise the adapter as shown by the lsusb command. So I think is driver related the missing part to make it work. Any idea where I can find and how I can install the appropriate driver to work?
Anyone have an idea?
Hi,
can you please send me the post or the HOWTO you used to install BT5 on note 2 ?

All linux OSs that has been ported to android, are not quite perfect. They are still in beta. So some things may not work. If I will find solution how to fix that. I'll post it here as soon as possible.

while i can not help you out, i would just like to say that having bt5 running on that bad boy just sound awesome.
are we talking command line or GUI ?
i would love to see a video if you find the time.
While i have no idea where to ask, i don't think this is the right place. i am not sure it will be helpful in any way but there was a lot of work put into porting BT for the original Xoom, and as i remember, it was also using an adapter to set monitor mode. you could maybe ask it as a general question and not device specific, and get some useful information that way. i will look into it when i finally get my Note II.

[Q] Nexus 7 Utorrent external pendrive

Sooo i was wondering, i want a good tablet that i can also use to download big files from torrents...
But, what i want to know is, can i plug in a usb flash drive into my nexus 7 using an adapter, and download torrent files or normal files directly to the usb flash drive??
please answer
Dont see why not...
Theoretically, yes.
You need to be rooted, have a USB OTG cable, and use StickMount.
When you download the torrent, just set the download directory to the external drive and you're done.

Thanks soo much for the answer
Can anyone else confirm this?
and does this only works if downloading from utorrent or any other kind of download?
BTW, does any adapter work or it has to be an OTG cable? or any usb adapter will work?
Yes it works....but mounting the pendrive for longer duration may damage your tablet.

You can try with any, but it is recommended to get a Micro USB to USB OTG cable, such as:
This one here
Easy as that buddy
And you can store anything on your tablet onto a hard drive/USB drive

A custom rom such as the current cm10.1 with a otg cable should do you just fine. No stickmount needed.

From reading this thread, I think posters have confirmed parts of it (downloading to a stick with the OTG cable, being able to download to the drive w/ uTorrent, etc. The only thing not confirmed is with your specific setup (stock rom). It's possible no one has that exact configuration to be able to confirm that. Seems to me it's worth investing a buck or two in a cable to find that out.
In any event, good luck with your quest. I hope it works for you.
One problem...
The problem is that not all OTG cables are compatible with the Nexus 7.
The ROM isn't a problem, provided you have root access.
You can download to a flash drive, and if not just copy it to the flash drive when download completed.
But, we can't guarantee it, not without using a confirmed cable, which yours isn't.
Try it, and report back and add it ot the list of confirmed OTG cables working with the nexus 7
Peace,
shandy1996
Thanks for the answer, i'm going to paraguay at the next month cause prices here in brazil are ridiculous, and them i'm going to see if it works ^^
Sooo, if the OTG cable work, and flash drive is correctly detected, is there an option in utorrent to download directly to it? and if i download something that isn't a torrent, what would be the best downloader to use that have this function to download directly to flash drive?
Btw: how much time do you think nexus 7 will hold on to the newest games? like the dead trigger 4 etc.
bump?
No it does not. I tried to do that and the speed when a torrent is downloaded directly to the stick is about 1b/sec. If you download normal files it works but not torrent, at least ttorrent and atorrent do not work.

You should have googled before asking such question, there was no need to create a new thread for the same topic
Your answer :
You need a y shaped cable, google it
You need a otg patched kernel, its in Android section thread by @justvarshney
you need a laptop.
Search for videos how to setup and how does it work.

I have 4 of these 32gb drives and they work in all my Samsung Galaxy Smart Phones ... 3, 4, 5 and 6. They also work in all my tablets ... Tab 8, 10.1, Tab S ... They auto mount and are USB 3.0 ... AND the BEST part? They have a standard issue USB port on one end and the USB mini port on the other so they can run just about ANYWHERE on any device. They Auto Mount up as "USB Drive 1" in all the portable devices and drive letter mount in computer type situations. Well worth the 12 bucks! I hope this helped! Link for drive:

usb flash memory stick

Dear devoleder
I asked about how to connect flash memory stick to my huawei p8lite
Does it support otg or not?
I see in the sitting / storage/ usb mount what can i do with it
P8 lite doesn't support otg.
Sent from my ALE-L21 using Tapatalk
I don't get it too the phone does not detect the usb flash stick and many people said that the phone does not support OTG but in storage settings there that usb mount ****, really weird...
Maybe it will work with some OTG cable not by pluging the usb stick directly into the phone who knows lol
I think it's just missing a kernel driver to support it.
AIDA64 in pheripherals shows DWC OTG Controller, pheripheral ID 1D6B-0002
Hello, OK the p8 lite didn't support otg cable/stick but with twrp and a otg stick it's working fine for flashing process

Really? TWRP mounts usb stick?
In this case it's only needed a kernel driver to have it working in rom
The OTG chip exists, but the kernel lacks support for USB OTG.
then rooting the phone and installing stickmount and using an usb otg cable will solve the problem I guess

No, a kernel driver is needed before everything else.

I think the driver is not a problem. The driver is present in the kernel.
The problem is probably a stock rom or stock system problem.
There could be a possible solution with a different rom like CM or AOSP.

At last, a spark of hope for OTG! Honor 4x supports OTG and they almost have the same specs....
I'm looking to push a CWM for the P8 Lite soon when I have the time... will look into USB OTG kernel support.
I think kernel suports fully USB OTG but it's only simply disabled.
The issue is most likely that the USB port isn't providing enough power (if any) to the USB device.
Can anyone who's patched their kernel with USB OTG support (there are many apps on the Play store which do this) confirm whether this is true, using a USB Y cable?
Somebody try to use something from Huawei Honor 4C? It's almost identical phone but with smaller internal memory and USB OTG support. It also runs on Kirin 620.

I used a Y cable without effect. But I will still try.
Ps. Whole true about USB OTG Now I'm dumping memory. May be soon I will upload image with USB OTG enabled. If somebody can help me, I appreciate it.

You need to be rooted to use that app
You can maybe build our own kernel with support of OTG?
Try changing line 1988 in the hisi_hi6210sft_defconfig: CONFIG_USB_OTG=y
https://github.com/XePeleato/androi...r/arch/arm64/configs/hisi_hi6210sft_defconfig
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/orig-development/kernel-boot-stock-android-6-0-t3344841
Don't know if it will work.
Attention! Flashing a kernel or changing a kernel can damage your phone
