Comparison of Nougat 7.1 ROMs - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I'm a pretty avid Moto X PE user (whose only now made an account ) and I have been experimenting Nougat ROMs. I've settled with (for a couple of weeks anyway) CrDroid v2.2, but after seeing that Resurrection Remix is being maintained again. I want help deciding.
First off, the ROMs that I need help comparing are LineageOS, AICP, RR, and CrDroid.
The most important aspects me are mostly features found on Stock, mostly gestures (camera and torch) as well as added features and camera startup time. Ambient display is also important, in case there are any differences between ROM's.
Also, is the ROM a CAF-based or AOSP? I prefer CAF.
Is it possible to play Pokemon Go on the ROM? If so, how? I can't get it to work on CrDroid. (Also Android Pay, I know it's a stretch, but can it work?)
Finally, what makes each ROM special? What features does it have that the others don't? Convince me to switch!
P.S. Anyone use Cloudpath at their institution? I haven't been able to get it to work on any of them!!!! I would like to save my data but I keep getting the "Your OS version is incompatible because your administrator has chosen not to enable it yet," even though they have. It's worked with custom roms on other devices before! Also, installing the certificates manually fails too and I have no idea why. But, this isn't the reason for this thread!

1 for other, Validus.

i ve got problems with every single nougat rom on my Moto X style

Currently running Dirty Unicorns 1/28/17 build. Apart from the flashlight not working, it's the smoothest and most battery friendly nougat rom I've tried so far.

My 2 cents, none of them are fully there as of yet. Each may do something the other may not but as of now, I would not recommend any. I would still give it time for each to improve. Out all I seem to have them the one with the least issues is Dirty Unicorn but even with that I have experienced lock ups.

I find tesla good not only because of feature's but also for stability

I can't say who's the best but am currently using Tesla (02/22 build) and am quite impressed.
Here's my review for that ROM;

For me there are no bugs. There's a volume fix for that Speaker playback. That bug is there in all Nougat ROMs since last week as it was produced from LineageOS and all other use LOS as a base.
Here's the thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/solved-low-volume-nougat-custom-rom-t3559769
You just copy paste those files and set permission as rw-r--r-- Reboot and enjoy
Haven't found any bugs yet. Everything is smooth. All the features and services.

It should work with appropriate files and also the issue needs to be in those files. (If some other files is causing it then hard luck)
You can try it yourself though. Get the files from old build of Dirty Unicorns where it was working fine. Set the permission to rw-r--r--
Hope it works.
Or you can also take the Stock audio config files from Stock ROM. If Dirty Unicorn is based on CyanogenMod 13 then take the audio files from any CM13 build.

I'd like to ask a simple question, whether the NFC working normally or not...

[ROM] [OPX PORT] [Oxygen OS] [3.1.0]

Hi folks,
It seems that a dev from the Oneplus forum, PMehra, managed to get OOS 3.1.0 working on our beloved OPO
He also made a OPX H2OS v2 port, though the official one is out.
Actually there are two OOS 3 ports that was made by two different dev (the other one is on Oneplus chinese forum) at the same time (almost) !
These are ports from the OPX 3.1.0 update dated of 08/18.
I've only tested the PMehra OOS 3 port.
What's working :
Almost everything is working, including NFC
Known bugs :
Mobile network take little bit more time (actually, it's insignificant), switch flight mode on & off after boot. Expected to improve in next update.
Longpress actions doesn't work on any button. Expected to be fixed in next update.
When the software buttons are turned on, the hardware buttons stay active and can also be used. So stay with HW buttons for now.
You can't change priority/no notifications due to there being no alert slider.
Download app fc
Storage->explore->doesnt do anything
Storage->other-> settings fcs
Changelogs :
Soon
How to flash :
Reboot to recovery
Make a nandroid backup
Wipe cache/dalvik/data/system partitions
Flash the zip
Reboot and enjoy !
If you want to install another rom after this one, you have to flash a marshmallow modem from this thread before, or you'll be stuck at boot logo.
Gapps are included into the rom.
Downloads :
Mega folder with full rom and OTA.
Full rom on Google drive.
Don't worry if winrar say that the .zip is corrupt, it work anyway.
Root :
Flash these two .zip in this order :
Magisk V6
Magisk Super Su 2.76
Custom Kernels :
You can use a H2OS or OPX kernel on this rom, though no OPX kernel has been updated to OOS 3 yet because Oneplus didn't release any sources, as the original update isn't official, but just a community build.
Quick review :
Use it for few hours now, and everything work well, it's smooth like butter
The camera app is the stock OOSone, and it don't support 4K recording, but the manual mode work well, and the "HQ" mode delivers nice shots.
Battery is good : about 4-5 hours SOT on average.
There is no slow charging issue.
Here a video of the installation and quick review of the rom thanks to @acervenky :

Big thanks to @pradeepsmehra who made the port, thanks to him :good:

Apart from the camera quality what are the other benefits of using this ROM over say a cm or other stock roms? I am currently on hydrogen ROM purely for the sake of trying a new look.

Hardware buttons buggy
There's a few bugs with the hardware buttons that I've come across. Firstly being that no long press/double tap gestures work, and secondly when the software buttons are turned on the hardware buttons stay active and can also be used. While they're only minor bugs, they can be a bit annoying to deal with
---------- Post added at 01:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 PM ----------
Also, another bug is that you can't change priority/no notifications due to there being no alert slider. Will edit this post if I find any other bugs.

Hi, which firmware should I flash to install cyanogenmod 13 or 14? Thanks in advance
Have you tried a different camera app than the stock one to try record 4k? For example: Bacon Camera, ColorOS Camera.

unofficial cm14 rom for oneplus one

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.0 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
CREDITS to OPO devs " Wu Lin " , this is a first build of Cm14

Hello guys, I installed the rom tonight (clean). No "pinkish look" for me.
I tested it now abut two hours and I´m surprised how stable the rom actually is!
No reboot, no troubles at all.
Installed all the apps I need, and again no problems. Perfect WiFi, best data connecion and extrem fluid.
If we would get a few features more... would say perfect. M deepest respect to the developers and for this early and quick build :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

My overall white parts of the letters or photos had a pinkish tint... I wonder of it was because I flashed a custom kernel or used a profile from it???

Hohoho, don't flash a custom kernel at this time. I think it is to soon. In those early state of developement we should use the stock kernel. How I sayd, no such issues after a clean flash.

I too am experiencing the pinkish hue. Also, when I try to activate Now on Tap the system UI crashes. Otherwise, the ROM is very smooth so far. Very impressed with this early build.

i had the pink tint on stock so no it's the color calibration vs a kernel thing
Been using this build for a few hours. Love how smooth it is and I have experienced very few bugs. I did have an issue with the Bluetooth. Went to connect my jaybird BlueBuds and they connected fine. However, when I attempted to stream through Spotify the audio wouldn't play through the BlueBuds. It came out of the speakers. Has anyone experienced this bug?
So the Pinkish thing is something were working on, at least I'm looking into it tonight as well as some other bugs, now on tao with HW keys will crash sys UI AND hw encoding hasn't worked for me so videos can't really be recorded. The CPU temp is fixed in this build and I'd refrain from Outside kernels for noe because I've experienced some issues. Might be my kernels but I'm not sure. I'm working too see if I can get more settings opened up since most CM settings are greyed out for coding reasons. not done yet, please inform me of any other bugs I will address with the others soon

Chop chop doesn't work at all no gestures work at all as soon as you try to use them advanced settings instantly crash and gesture doesn't work. On lineage os for moto g4 plus. I have rebooted many times and redone the install and still same issues.

You've downloaded the 13/01 build from here? https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B1ZbHDX3hq1yMzZaQThhbmphVEU
Also, did you wipe your system in TWRP before installing (so wiped Dalvik, cache, system and data, you can keep internal storage untouched)? Did you install Nougat before installing Lineage OS?
Yes
Yes it's the latest ROM file from that download location by that person. not sure if it was mm or N it's Android 7.1.1 know though not the greatest memory after my heart attack and being zapped alive 10 times.
Yes I did do a full wipe when installing I even did internal memory, one of the golden rules of Roms I was always taught.

It seems to be a launcher problem, use the one that comes with it and many errors appear like no text at all on screen use Google now launcher and all text issues are gone and swipe to Google now cards works perfectly, were as it doesn't in default lineage OS launcher. Icons are back with text and folders have text when in Google now launcher but as soon as I go to lineage OS default launcher no text on icons or folders.

Official lineage os is live. With experimental and nightly rom.
Hi,
Has anyone already tested the new offical ROM?
I've seen in the build.prop that again this ominous line "ro.sys.sdcardfs", which causes access problems on the SD.
How are the experiences?
Using it now and it is super slow on downloads even on WiFi, it removes the moto boot screen from non official lineage os build and now has lineage os boot screen it also removes the nogurt software buttons that are in non official build and replaces them with mm software keys. Has a proper ota updated now but that's super slow running at 200kbps even though WiFi is 14mbps, so far bug free unlike unofficial build.

Personally, i like Pixel Experience and HAVOC
I put together a How-To for those who are interested :
Flashing ProjectTreble GSIs on the Essential using TWRP 1) either boot or fastboot into TWRP
2) Wipe Cache, System, and Data (1 GSI required internal to be wiped, i forget which)
3) From Main Menu, select Install and Flash UN-ZIPPED A/B system.img
4) Reboot Recovery (It's going to say there's no OS, act like you didnt see it.)
5) Reboot System and Enjoy!
6) Most of the later GSIs from October to Present I have flashed and am happy to say
they all contain pre-installed Magisk and ALL but 1 contains Gapps.

Well, it is not that I'm too lazy to search. But I'm sure that there is more than one havoc treble in the whole world. But you have apparently stumbled upon one that works well. So if you by any chance do have a link, that would be very much appreciated.

Here ya go, there are 2 havoc for treble, this one is the only one that would work on my essential. I believe they Are a unified project now as the other havoc treble thread is closed.

Many thanks! I have one more question. Some users are reporting on this forum that Havoc P does not work for for them, this was posted in September 2018. When did you successfully install Havoc P on our phone?

I ran it from late August to current. Builds before 10/27 required a selinx permissive changer magisk mod to be flashed preboot from recovery to enable the kernel to be permissive instead of enforcing.. starting with the 10/27 build this isn't required, just flash as normal gsi installation. And the other havoc thread had builds that never worked for a lot of phones, prob was that thread..this is different. U should be fine

Looks like a new GSI has been released, at least an update has 2 hrs ago, for Pixel Dust... I think i'm gonna give that a test...

Pretty sure pixel dust and havoc are almost twins. Just havoc was the primary twin and absorbed most of the nutrients and pixel dust is cool don't get me wrong, I just had a couple force closes vs havoc, none.

Do report back with any issues here, also do tell me if the notch is being detected correctly
New Pixel Dust running great, without issue
Yes pixel dust is amazing and my fingerprint reader works perfectly
no notch support so status bar has some spacing issues other than that couldn't be happier

Discussion: it does really worth to stay on Android One?

Hi, pals.
Since September, when in my birthday I got a Mi A2, I am following this forum.
I was proud of my mobile. It was fast, pretty, cool, with a nice set of cameras and frequent updates from Xiaomi and Google, but in the since then, I discovered that the sky isn't so blue as I expected.
Daily I see people complaining about updates. Some updates brick their phones, or put them in a bootloop. Xiaomi's way of do things to Android One project are no that good and even with compatibility, it doesn't enable a very requested feature - Camera 2 API.
With this in mind, I get myself frequently thinking about give up Android Pie forever in this device and install for good the Mi 6X image - MIUI 10 - with no rollback option, however, before do this, I need to know from users of both OSes.
First of all: does really worth migrate?
2nd: are the camera issues solved?
3rd: does 6X MIUI camera has the portrait option?
4th: is there any complain about MIUI?
5th: if you already did this, are you regret?
Thanks for getting in discussion
I've switched to Havoc rom two weeks ago, after having stock rom for about 6 months - that's a new phone. never going back.
I converted my A2 into Wayne (Mi 6X) after owning this phone for 7 months and I never look back. MIUI is so bug-free and performance is a lot smoother than stock android one.
I tried on A2 Stock, Miui 10, Pixel Experience and Havoc and this last one is the best option, the phone is faster, the battery performance is excelent, cam2api, etc etc etc. don't waste your time and go to Havoc.

How stable it is? Does it need additional kernels? Is the audio echo fixed when talking with someone?

It's stable. No addition kernel needed, but some people suggest Hex.
The call audio is kind of low, I don't know if it's been fixed in the newest versions.

Of these four you tried, is Miui 10 the only one that - allegedly - allows internal audio to be recorded during screen capture?
I bought the phone about a month ago and it effectively replaced my laptop for most of the stuff I do while out of the office, but the fact you can't record internal audio on stock greatly limits its potential imho.
I am gonna say I converted from my mi a2 to miui 10 then I tested see how it was I was like not bad to be honest I began to love it but then I thought same phone same features right?! So I went make to Android one ? to only find out that my experience was way better on Wayne so I did what you should do and I recommend permanently convert to the mi 6x Wayne on stock cn miui 10 beta locked bootloader having a great experience and performance oh is so much better
No issues whatsoever. I totally recommend Pie
my vote is for stock android one. i would consider switching to custom if and when stock support ends.
i have used miui before and i couldnt go back to it after android stock. everyone has their favorite, you're the only one that can make the choice. but as long as it works i woulndnt try to fix it.
After using stock for the first few months after getting this phone and then trying out every custom ROM that exists out there I ended up converting to 6X and flashing the xiaomi.eu MIUI 10 ROM. All of the A2 ROMs have certain bugs and stock has the most out of all of them. MIUI on the other hand is working just fine. I used to own a Huawei before the A2 so MIUI doesn't feel strange to me and it certainly has more features than stock.

O did It! Now I'm on Miui.
Spoiler: I'm loving!
Later I'll share my experience.
Ok, as promised, here's my experiment and experience with the process of converting:
MIUI is an incredible version of Android, for sure. I installed it following this guide, made some adjustments (enable Camera2API without rooting with TWRP Terminal using part of this guide) and corrected the camera closing issue with part of this guide and TWRP (later I'll make a tutorial), installed ARCORE using this version (APKMirror ->
ARCore 1.7.19012814 - arm64-v8a + armeabi-v7a. Works flawlessly) and installed Google Camera (Tolyan V1.4a).
Benefits of having MIUI over Android One on MIA2:
- Double Tap to Wake
- Raise to Wake
- Dual Apps (excelent for Pokemon GO players)
- Stability
- Speed
- Battery
- Customization
- Call recording
- Slide down three fingers to take a screenshot
- ARCORE works (it didn't work in Stock Pie)
Disadvantages:
- Installing updates only by TWRP
- Android Oreo
Soon, I'll share a guide - unlocking bootloader, installing MIUI and activating Camera2API without rooting.
See ya!

So You mean in Terms of battery and Performance MIUI 10 is better then pie ?

Sure it is.
Pie in MiA2 is full of bugs and performance is lower than in MIUI10.
Maybe because Oreo is more polished than Pie.

6X is getting Pie this week, so we'll definitely see how polished Pie truly is.
