Shouldn't this be in the general forum if you're not actually developing it?
Yeah Im just posting the news. Never been to the general forum part sorry and I didnt know.
Just wanted to fill people in!
So yes it should be moved to the SGS2 General forum
The link to the ROM you posted was from July 9th...
Anyways, moving this to General.
The link is to the miuiandroid build, from the 21st, and that is not official?? I don't believe they are releasing the official until another 2 hours or so?

Sorry but what's so special about this MIUI then, is it better than Stock ROM's?
why choose it over standard Android?

I used to wonder the same myself. To me it just looked like Android with an iPhone interface.
However I tried it and found things like...
toggles in the notification screen (configurable)
battery stats that go into a LOT of detail (configurable)
full skinning that allows you to mix and match theme elements on the fly (configurable)
built in call/sms firewall (configurable)
built in application security w/password (configurable)
They're just off the top of my head. There's so much more that it does above and beyond regular Android. Other than the configurable toggles in the notification screen (swipe left/right from notifications to get to a full screen of toggles) I've not seen anything that you can't do with apps, but it's all there and all works together.
Also, in my opinion it has the best browser available for Android.
There's more, but I guess you're getting that it's very configurable

this is the link to the download. but MIUI said on their fb they are uploading one by one and as of now the rom for s2 is still not up... =) fortunately i know a bit of chinese.
its been there since coupla weeks if am not wrong. and yeah they have weekly releases.
as far the MIUI port and builds out for SGS2 , I have tried a few and the general thing is battery life is not as good as sammy ROMs, battery stats are totally wrong (its a known issue). FM and Bluetooth work now.

You just got thanked! (accidentally)
The official rom is being released as we speak on the Chinese miui website... But that's in Chinese so we will all have to wait a day or 2 until miuiandroid translate it into english... But yes this is official support, and hopefully fixes alot compared to the .21 release...

The webiste is showing the S2 development rom for download. Only problem is, it doesnt give any info on installing this rom!
Does it have to be flashed via Odin?
ZIP placed on SD and Installed via CWM?
Do we Wipe any of the cache's?
Is data stored or everything deleted?
Anybody got the answer to these questions?

Features:
Android 4.0.4
Notification power widget
Torch
Superuser
Google Apps
T9 Dialer
more...
I do expect some problems, I haven't had much time to give everything a full run down, however the quicker bugs are reported the quicker I can fix before final.
SGS2 wouldn't be supported without the work of the teamhacksung guys, consider making donations there if you haven't already.

Oxygen Roms
I had an Nexus S before i bought my Galaxy SII. I have tried Oxygen and it was great but i need some more features. It was to simple so i flashed back to an other rom.
I will look forward to his new Roms and try them
just 2 little issues
1. The notifications looks dim ( always)
2. When I put automatic brightness it goes to 0% bright
Otherwise this rom is AMAZING!!
Thanx

I'd like to use tasker to automatically switch between 2g only and 3g only, so I'm looking for a cm based ROM that could allow this.
Can anyone advice me Roms I can choose from?
Thank you!

Last time I checked roms do not have such a feature.
Come here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121627&highlight=3g+only
I'm quite sure that feature is present in CM 10.1 as confirmed by the attached screenshot i found here on xda
but I'd like to know if there are other roms I can try besides CyanogenMod...

I was just going to suggest that some custom ROMs have customizable toggles that let you switch between 2G/3G etc. If you want to try other ROMs, take a look at the many listed in the Original Development or the Development threads and try the more customization-friendly ones From personal experience I know that CarbonROM, as well as XenonHD has such a toggle. I think Xylon might also have this, but I can't remember...

Thank you for sharing your experience
Can you confirm they also allow "3g only" and not just "2g/3g" auto mode?
Btw I just found the perfect solution here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739530
It should work on any CyanogenMod based ROM, so I should be able to use it with almost any custom ROM :victory:
I will try it as soon as you can
THANK YOU XDA :good:

I can confirm 100% that on CarbonROM the 2G toggle is ONLY 2G mode. So when you turn 2G mode on, 3G is off. I use a HSPA+ provider so when I go 2G my service ends. I'd expect XenonHD to have the same thing, because I remember those toggle settings to be quite similar on both those ROMs. I'd expect Xylon to be the same thing too, but I haven't been on Xylon recently so i can't say for certain.

im asking for features from the ROM not the ROM
it would be nice to see "always on" from Moto X
Why not port the full rom instead of individual features?

It will burn through battery since the G doesn't have a dedicated low power chip. Even with its great battery life.

If we have CWM you can simply make a flashable zip of this "always listening" feature one of the best things on android. The possibilities.
This ROMs will be available for both single and dual SIM versions? I'm afraid that we can't get CyanogenMod for the dual sim version of Moto G.
Honestly, unless you have something to show for it, this sort of thread belongs in general discussion and not development.
Did you read the thread that is stickied to this forum? It clearly says:

I'd like a solid device build profile so that AOSP based roms can be compiled before even thinking about miscellaneous features.

It is going to be based off of the stock rom so hopefully yes it will be able to run on both
I'm not an expert but probably to optimize the always listening feature should be useful modifying the kernel? I mean..it only one of the four cores is used for this function while the other three sleeps, probably the battery drain would be less aggressive? Sorry it I said something wrong. Anyway this device can become GREAT with some developing so happy

It isn't aosp it is based off of stick which has already been posted. And I can ask for features I'm not toting a rom I'm asking for ideas that rule is inapplicable
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534671 is one of the nicest themes I've seen...and I use it on my Note 3. My girlfriend LOVES it, but she's got the AT&T S4, which, quite frankly, has nothing but pretty standard and flat themes. This more 3D theme is awesome and I was wondering if there's anyone that wouldn't mind a quick port to the S4. Any help would be appreciated!!! Thank you!

The link you post says thanks to someone for letting them use their S4 theme. So it looks like the theme your linking is a port from an S4 theme to begin with : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2372902
Because its for the 9505 (which is essentially the same as the 337, as in runs the same hardware. the 9500 is the eyxnos one) it should run just fine.
HOWEVER because there could be small differences in the apk's between the variants i recommend getting the 3mint build associated to the android version her rom has and using 3mint framework instead.
Check the link it has all the required files to get it up and running.
