I know that it moves contents to a private folder, where is it stored? Are the files encrypted?

I am using MemMaid to view which files are taking up a lot of space. My message folder is 14MB and I've cleared all attachments and messages. Is it safe to delete the contents in the folder? They are files with random numbers and letters.
I created a backup zip file of some images that were in the main sdcard folder that's found within the mnt folder and I was trying to delete said zip file as I thought I'd made a mistake with the zip file and somehow I ended up deleted most of the folders within the sdcard folder!
I checked out the Storage section within settings and it has the following information:
Total space]
13.11GB
Apps
3.28GB
Pictures, videos
245MB
Misc.
8.33GB
Available
1.31GB
Even though the information in the Internal Storage section is correct, when I check my folders using a file explorer software on my device which is rooted and running AOKP, it shows that the folders and files that I deleted are still missing.
Is there anyway to access the internal memory via an ADB-type software that will allow me to recover the files and folders that were deleted by accident as well as let me back up the internal memory to a PC once the recovery is done? (That is, when I can access the damn device as it's being a pain in the ass trying to detect it on my laptop!)
I use Recuva from Piriform located HERE ! It found and restored 234 MP3's that I guess I was pocket deleting on my DHD.
Thanks for the link. I'll check it out as soon as I can get my device recognised on my laptop and netbook!

The folders are maked by the apps, there are some cached files and data files.By deleting them, the apps data may be deleted.
Here .gps folder maked for yours gps datas and the svox for pico.tts app, which controlles the text to speech settings.By deleting them you will not have any major problem. But the datas for the apps will be deleted. And you have to download the text to speech data files one more time,if you delete svox folder.

I'm unable to delete files or create new folders on my phone's internal storage. Getting a write-protected error.
Also, my phone is rooted, and the contents of this clockworkmod folder don't even show up using ES File Manager or Root Explorer.
What do I do to fix this?
Hello, I just made Wipe data/Factory rest so now i have no content on my phone but
before I Wiped it I made a backup of my storage (Copy pasted Phone and card folders in a backup folder)
I had some Pictures on my Private Mode function,
- how can I locate those files ?
- where is the storage folder location ?
- is any method to get them back ?
thank you
If you didn't enable it before backup then it got wiped out. You should have enabled it first then a private folder would show up when you connect your phone on PC for you to backup
