Hi
Not sure when this started, or what ive installed or removed to cause this problem. But, now if i add an appointment, it appears twice. If i add a program, the icon appears twice. If i try and add a contact to the speed dial, it complains it already exists (i.e. tries to do it twice).
Anyone suffered this?
The only thing i did was remove the o2Active from the startup folder to the windows folder. Havent removed anything else.
Have installed quite a few things though.....
btw, im sending duplicate SMS's also!....
so this could prove costly!!... what should i reinstall, uninstall?
problem solved. Seems like a problem in Battery pack App 2004. If you select in the options "clicking X will close apps", then for some reason it seems to commit certain things twice.
Not sure whether its battery pack thats the prob, or something else in the o2 setup on the machine, that is playing around with the battery app setting.
Could someone please be so kind as to list the entires in the notification queue of a fairly clean JasJar for me. Just the main program, found using Pocket Mechanic, and excluding standard calendar entries.
I mistakenly deleted something, and I need to try and figure out what it was without going thro a hard reset...

Pls don't get angry on me.
I have the same sound/nomore calendarwarning at all/ and random alarm problem.
I downloaded, on you advice, pocketmechanic, and am now in front of the Notification Queue.
Can you tell me what I can delete and what I can't?
huib
You can delete CALENDAR and TASKS entries - they will re-add themselves. But rather not cos you have nothing to gain
\\.\Notification\.....SCRIPT... entries seem to cause problems. If they are due to activate soon, leave them alone. If they are due to go off in a few days, kill the little buggers. I think that many of them are registration checkers.
You WILL have duiplicate sddaemon entries with yellow icons. Kill them ALL and enjoy it!
You should find 1 of each of the follwoing:
- repllog
- \windows\calupd
- CALNOT
You will find 2 of each of the following:
- calnot
- clocknot
- repllog
ANything else is 'interesting'. Google it and kill it if it does not point to something u r happy with. I have never had one not sort itself out if it was required (eg weather updating - will come back when weather app next loads).
OK, so I did. Deleted 46 dups.
And than a soft reset:
Still 46 dups over there. But first:
The warning sound that comes up, starts before even asking for the Sim pin. Nearly immediately after soft resetting, this sounds comes up It keeps warning me for quite a time and then stops. I think it repeats about 8 times, but everytime with a slower interval between the (three tones) beeps. Do you think it should also be in that queue?
I really don't want to hard reset any more. It is so much work.
Before this problem started I had my battery drained , ignoring low battt warnings. Could that be the case? That the jasjar shuts down before properly handling the sounds?
The calendar does not warn anymore, so somewhere in this queue something is blocked?
Interesting, right?
Huib
Hell, not sure 'interesting' is the word I'd use. This sounds awful.
I did hear that running the battery empty is indeed bad for a Universal. But I think it was bad for the battery not for the ROM.
I don't understand why your duplicates come back! Post a list of the following:
- A few of the duplicates in detail
- An idea of what all these duplicates are (are they all the same)
- A list of progs in \windows\startup
- A list of installed apps (excluding games and things)
This is surely easy to solve. Let's see what we can do.

\windows\sddaemon.exe apprunAfterrestore action details: n/a
Notify when a device restore is complete. handle: 0x300056
and many more nearly the same but with handle 0x3a000055 or 0x3f000056 or idem but with 0x38000059 etc etc
Alle of the dups are in that list, close to each other. So they are more or less the same.
What about a suggestion to" Just remove sddaemon.lnk from \windows\startup\
then soft reset. it is ok"
from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=180017#180017
In windows startup: Poutlook and sddaemon + spb GPRS notify (GPRS is recently new, after the problems started)
progs: listpro, pbreeze ( But I did not have that installed when the problems rised the first time I had them) Pocketweather, Ewallet ( now removed) NR de Luxe,
Edited: oops , I forgot Agile. And I also forgot to say that I had many freezes, using Agile. So also here there could be a source of problems.

Create a new folder \windows\StartupDisabled, and move sddaemon here. Kill the duplicates, and soft reset. I can't imagine that they come back. Does this solve the startup issue. If not, you'll need to tell us exactly what else is running under notifications.
If it works, keep it like this for a few days and see if voice command still works OK. I'm trying myself right now after reading that post.

Sorry, but still dups ( 43 now)
And that stupiud warningn sound is still there. My right led keeps blinking, and I thought it should not blink.
A hard reset? (becoming suicidal)'
Huib
This does not make sense; we are going to check 3 things:
1) are u using PM correctly
2) are dups truly getting deleted
3) is the soft reset bringing them back
4) if so, let's stop it
1) Are you correctly using PM to remove dups? You need to TICK each item to be removed (each yellow icon), either manually or by clicking 'dups' button. You THEN have to click "remove" button. You MUST then check that dups have indeed been removed.
2) Exit PM, go back in and check they are not there. If they've come back, then you have a corrupted notifications queue that PM is not dealing with correctly. Hard reset I'm afraid - but look for another post I started on TIPS n TRICKS - it's not nearly as brutal as u think.
3) Now, soft reset - if they came back then it's the reset that's causing the porblem. If not, then you should be good. Is your SR going OK without the sounds now?
4) If they DO come back, then look for notification queue entires linked to "AppRUnAfterRestore" and tell us what they are.

Hell, this sounds awful. Only thing I can think of is to kill ALL sddaemon entries (you MIGHT then lose voice dial functionality) and try again. If they come back again, a hard reset may be the only solution. Sorry.

FIXED!!!

Subject: ! FIXED!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello All!
After 3 weeks of usage of my Qtek9000:
- all the Calendar notifications dissapeared (no text, no sound);
- the Alarms did have sound and vibra, but no text and Notification softbutton on the screen;
- alarms sounds could appear on their selfs on a random time and no Text on the screen.
I've searched the forum and it learned out that it is a Notification Que Issue.
It looks that upon a time, that que is being oversized or some mess (duplicates?) happened in it.
So, after that the "Notification Que" Issue appears.
HOW I FIXED IT:
1. Get the MemMaid \ PocketMechanic app;
2. find and delete duplicates, SoftReset (SR) (no success so far);
3. delete up to 200 CALENDAR.EXE entries, (SR) (no success so far);
4. delete up to 100TASK.EXE entries, (SR) (no success so far);
5. delete .\\notificatiopn.....script... entries, (SR) (no success so far);
6. delete all repllog.exe entries (2) and SR- IT WORKS AGAIN !!! ;
From this case - I dont know which of the manipulations actually brought my notifications back alive (is that really the repllog.exe entry?)
The possible longterm solution may be a 3-rd party App, which performs scheduled Notification Que clean up?
This is a very annoying and awfull BUG in the WM5 !!!
As I don't believe the fillowing ROM releases will fix this critical bug, the only way out - is developing the system app to perform a scheduled Notification Que clean up.
All, please, give your feed back: your experience, knowledge on the subject, etc.
Thank you.
Every so often I get this message:
"An unhandled error has occurred in the shell. Attempting to restart the shell."
The only thing I can do is hit OK and it restarts. This is my second wizard and the first had this problem as well. I thought that it might be the registry edit that I made to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:WMPLAYER
I changed string 1 to replace wmplayer.exe to another program but changed it back in an attempt to fix the problem but I still get the same error.
Any ideas?
Any chance you're trying to close the programs app or the control panel (proper close, not OS minimise). This also causes such a crash.
V
Hi Vijay,
I am also gettign this error, except mine only seems to happen EVERYTIME I close the Program Folder.
i am runing a Vodafone VPA Compact III (TYTN)
Any Ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks.
Yes, don't close the programs folder. VJOkButt has exceptions for the Programs Folders and Control Panel and other system folders, because closing them crashes the OS.
So as Beverly Crusher would say, "don't move your arm".
V
i g3t this also
i also get this.. not all the time but when closing file explorer i dont kno what it could b?
i started getting this a few weeks back. after readuing this post i can confirm it happens when i close my "Programs" folder. what gives???
any help is appreciated
thanks
This recently started happening to me too. Until 2 weeks ago i had never seen tis, not it happens every day.
It seems to happen under different circumstances, but often when i am using Opera.
The odd thing is that i have not changed and settings or installed any new apps...
...however, i did start happening around about the time it started experimenting with over clocking. I have since stopped overclocking, but still get this.
It damn annoying, i really do not want to do a hard reset.
the hard reset will not help. I also re installed the rom and still got the same message. this is really weird.
i guess there is some file somewhere corrupted.
as I played with the phone, I realized that the HTC X button, when set to close the apps, it causes this issue. so I uninstalled it. and I get no more popups.
It has started happening to me too and I have pinpointed it to trying to close the programs folder before the icons load. Any fix available yet?
Hi.
When using my Diamond I noticed some processes don't disappear when they should. They fill up memory. Either you kill 'em with some Task Manager, or you soft reset.
Don't wanna SR or kill processes manually? Let my thing do it for you!
NoTSR is a very very simple program which kills some predefined processes, based on my experience with Diamond.
Source code (eVC++ 4) is for you to use and modify whatever you want. However, it would be nice if you gave me some credit if using it!
Have fun!
p. s. Sorry for the icon.
If anyone is wondering, this is what it kills off (copied straight from the source code):
"Opera9.exe", // everything still loads well
"OperaPreL.exe", // after killing them
"pword.exe", // for some reason Pocket Word leaves its process even after leaving
"CommManager.exe", // other Office apps seem to be fixed
"AudioManager_eng.exe", // last ones are opened by manila for quicker loading of tabs.
"AlbumSearcher.exe" // killing AudioManager stops music and rewinds current track.
I keep getting a "Can't list processes" dialog box when I launch the app. I tried placing the NoTSR.exe within in the extracted NoTSR subdirectory and also outside the subdirectory.

I can confirm that.
What did we wrong? Do we have to place it in a special folder, like windows?
It worked for me, but my phone was very sluggish after running the app and I had to soft reset to bring it back to par.
Thanks for starting this development, there is definitely a gap to be filled by it, I use oxios hibernate and a task manager to finish off opera .exe, this is much easier to use and your icons not so bad either!

Thanks for positive feedback. I wonder why th sluggish reaction. Loading of opera as well as some TF3D tabs will for sure be slower, but whole phone is weird. After all, it just kills and leaves (see src if unsure). I use NoTSR myself and I got no problems at all. Maybe you could test it again and if it slows down show the list of processes?
@others: try using the app with rest closed. It should work in any folder; I keep it in my docs and launch via Start.
Thanks again for interest!
same error message for me. sprint touch pro with jd6.1 rom
I can't reproduce that error to analyze and fix it, so I post new version which tells you what went wrong. Try with it.
trying now

OK, so I've been using the NoTSR app for a couple of days and I can't reproduce the lag that I had when I first ran it, odd. I think it may be something to do with the fact that when I first ran it it was from within file explorer, after using it I could not get explorer to open up again properly. Now I have put a shortcut in my windows/start up/programs folder and I am running it from my start menu everything seems just fine and is all working as it should with no sluggish side effect, so thanks again kosherpig for the very useful app.
SKTools Lite (free) comes with a small program called "Free up ram." During SKTools Lite install, it will tell you something about your windows version, just click through that and let it install.
Once it's installed, go to your programs page and you'll see it there: "Free Up RAM". Just run it once. It will look like nothing is opening, but its because it's working in the background. You'll get a message box very shortly telling you how much ram (in KB) you freed up.
http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?sktools/m_lite.html
I use it all the time. Brings me from 45 -50 down to 35-40. Lowest I've seen was 32%.
Our programs are slightly different. My one doesn't free RAM by itself; it closes processes which won't close by a "close all" command. And NoTSR is not resident (after all its name is No Terminate-Stay-Resident ). Its goal is to be as small as possible, also in term of occupied disk space (~9kB now). Maybe this SKTools and NoTSR could be used in conjunction to free up even more RAM?
And, I also got the error message 2 times.
1st when I was running FM radio.
2nd when I was at the Music tab.
I solved them:
1st by closing FM radio and invoking NoTSR. Everything went OK.
2nd switched to the Home tab. NoTSR failed again. Waited some seconds, ran again. OK now.
Solution: fails? Shut everything using the HTC task manager, go to today/home screen, and invoke NoTSR after some time. I can say the behavior is really weird, since my code doesn't depend on running apps.
However, I run NoTSR everytime after using Opera. I got that error 2 times in my whole usage.
Anyways. Thanks for all responses
I find "Oxios Hibernate" frees up more ram than sk tools "free up ram" does, it is also free, but must be run manually, a useful addition to any start menu.
I'm getting about 10 mb back with NoTSR after opera browsing, "free up ram" or "hibernate" practically nothing back after opera browsing. Basically if you use opera then this is a "must have".
A small update.
If you know when Oxios Hibernate works and NoTSR fails, check this exe out. I tried to contain the Hibernate in it.
This version is bugged.
Please use version from 1st post.
If you ran this version already perform a soft reset.
Sorry for inconvinience.

To me it goes from 63% to 61%...

thats frustrating...
Hi there, trying to use this app I'm getting the same error as others...
"Can't list processes: The parameter is incorrect. (#0)"
Task Manager is empty, I've tried leaving it on the home screen for 20 secs and running it but still the same problem.
Any ideas? I'd really like to get this working as Dutty 3.1 does appear to suffer from this memory problem.
EDIT.... OK, did a reset and it's working fine. I'll play with it over the next day or so, and fingers crossed Dutty 3.1 will be good enough for me as I don't need YouTube.
EDIT2... Worked for a while, now has the same problem as earlier.
Are you using the version form 1st post?
If not, please use it.
By the way, something is really wrong... AFAIK "Invalid parameter" has error code 87, 0 is "success". I've looked at program code to see where I could mess up memory, but I saw no such places. Help with finding this bug (you've got the source) would be very appreciated.
hi kosherpig
can you add a settings file where we can put our personal process to stop?
I've try to modify the source but I'm not able to compile it

Hi Kosherpig, I am using the version from the 1st post.
I'm happy to help finding the bug, but not sure what to do here! I THINK it stopped working after I used TomTom7, but can't be sure.
It's only 1635 and it's down to 16% battery already (I think this is a problem with Dutty 3.1), so I don't want to do lots of tests. However, when I'm home and charging it, I'll try each app individually until I pin point which one "causes" the problem.
Does this help? Anything else you want me to try?
Hi kosherpig, getting on great with NoTSR now, I just have one small idea that it would be nice to show the memory stats in the pop up dialogue in a similar way to oxios hibernate. Unless of course this would significantly affect the size and speed of the app, in that case I think it is easy enough to check on the memory usage other ways with a couple of quick taps.
I have an issue that is making me crazy. Starting about 1 month ago, my N7 plays a very annoying "tune" for about 1-2 minutes precisely at 12:35 AM every day.
Some specifics:
- volume cannot be controlled or muted
- the "tune" that is played is not one of the normal choices. It is kind of crude sounding (like MIDI).
- does not provide any notification of any kind or show up as a running app
- does not appear to be associated with clock or calendar
- the only way to stop it is to power off
Steps I have taken to try to kill this thing (leaving out the obvious)
- "soft" factory reset/restore from N7 Settings menu - fail
- "Hard" facory reset using power/volume controls. Did not do a restore.. Only logged onto wireless and into my Google account . - fail
- complete wipe/reflash using adb/fastboot/nakasi image from Google developer page instructions. - fail
I'm a complete Android noob, but not a software/hardware noob. This defies logic to me. I found reference to a very similar problem on another forum, but the post was never answered. I have several other Android devices and none have this issue. I'm convinced that this is something malicious. Where is this thing hiding that it can survive a reflash? Please help, I'm beginning to think my N7 is haunted.
Bump for help
Sorry to bump this but it appears that the views have stopped and so far no replies. As noted in my original post I have seen this issue reported elsewhere but not solved. I even tried loading Cyanogenmod and it's still there! I realize that asking for help on you first post is asking a lot, but I really could use some help/suggestions. Is there somewhere in the file system I should look for the code that is running this? Are there monitoring tools I could use to identify the process that is running? Are there log files somewhere I could look at?
Besides being really annoying, it's hard to feel secure when something like this keeps coming back after the device has supposedly been wiped multiple times. If I can't solve it, it's probably going to get beaten to a pulp with a sledgehammer! Thanks for any suggestions.

This is solved. I'd like to say I know exactly what worked, but apparently after the umpteenth wipe/re-flash, the poltergeist got bored and moved on. Thanks for thinking about it.
