I wonder if anyone can suggest a remedy for my little problem, apart from throwing the phone in the bin.
My gt-i9505 recently stopped connecting to my provider and is showing a no service message at the bottom of the screen and a round circle with a line through it at the top. Samsung repair center say that the main pcb has failed but refuse to repair it saying that the phone was not destined for sale in the U.K but was intended for the Asia market.
My thoughts are that it cannot be the main pcb as the phone boots up o.k and also finds a satellite signal ok, the only things not working are the wi-fi and phone signal. Would I be correct in saying that these items are modular and can be swapped out? It may be a delicate job beyond my capabilities but if these parts are replaceable I do know someone that can do it.
It's a pity to dump the phone as it is only 12 months old and as new condition, so any suggestions or help would be gratefully received.
The phone is running the latest kitkat 4.4.2 ind is fully stock.
Bad efs folder. Is your imei and baseband correct?
Use/ask someone for a z3x box or a jtag.
"If someone helps, never forget to hit thanks ? "
Thanks for the reply, it's much appreciated. Yes my imei and baseband are all o.k. so I don't think it's the efs folder. The phone has never been 'played with' due to the knox problem negating the warranty. I have however played with an I9000 with many successes.
I also upgraded the phone to the latest version GNG8 hoping that this would cure the problem but that didn't work either. What would using a z3x box or jtag if it is a hardware fault?

Well as @MAX 404 once said...
The efs folder, even if shows the correct values, can go bad.
Before going too technical, did you try flashing the latest modem for your phone?
Do it too but before proceeding take an efs backup. (Many ways, many playstore apps to take efs backups)
Hardware fault. Unlikely in this case , but cannot be ruled out altogether.
Z3x box is a multi utility box which has the power to bring devices back to life and writes the imei codes and stuff properly once again.
And a JTAG + Z3x box have the ability to bring an almost dead mobo to life.
You can read more about it on xda, how z3x has saved lives. I wont say buy one, but you can always ask if someone has it.
"If someone helps, never forget to hit thanks ? "
Thanks once again for the reply. What I flashed was the newest software, I9505XXUGNG8, for the phone downloaded from the SamMobile firmware page which I thought contained the newest modem. I will however download the relevant modem and reflash. I will also ask around for someone with Z3x box, as I will be away from home now until Wednesday next I will be unable to reflash modem until then but I will report back as soon as possible with the results.

No. Just flash the modem via recovery (if a recovery modem file exists) or via odin.
After you flash keep the phone off for 30secs or more..and then turn it on..
See if anything improves..if nothing improves then just data wipe the phone..

I have now re-flashed the kernel inclusive of the wi-fi fix from this thread here
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50965837&postcount=2627
and the phone now connecting to the internet successfully. The circle with a line through is still at the top of the screen and the phone is still showing the no service message. With a sim card in place the network is showing as unknown, service state is showing as out of service but the phone number is showing correctly as is the imei. I will have a look around for someone with a Z3x box to see if they can help.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
Hi all,
First of all sorry my English not that good,
and please read it to the end
few days ago I tried to downgrade from Lollipop 5.1.1 to Kitkat 4.4.4 which i found later it is something can't be done,
but back then processor failed and i get some things on Odin , it stops on sboot.bin and fail and my phone in download mode says : sw rev check fail device 2 binary 1
so as an android user i looked all arount the web and Xda forums and found a way to flash Kitkat with a way to avoid
sw rev check fail device 2 binary 1
which was to delete sboot.bin and modem and compress them to .tar again , and guys that was the dumbest thing i did,
My note won't start and says : FIrmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again
so as usual I looked again and someone somewhere said "why don't you try PIT file"
so i tried and that work for me and WoW my note work again , and from then i I stopped all the Experiments at the poor Note 4.
but yesterday some App on my note (which require Root and I can't tell you what it is) do some weird stuff and reboot.
the devise work but this message appeared (com.google.process.gapps - unfortunately google play store has stopped) constantly, constantly and constantly ,and that is painful , so I backed up my files and wiped every thing and restart the devise but still getting the same message , so I tried flashing lollipop again but still getting the same error on download mode
sw rev check fail device 2 binary 1
so i used PIT file again but nothing worked
so you know the deal , I looked around and again someone somewhere said use CWM to deal with sw rev check fail device 2 binary 1
So i did , and get into recovery and I use every wipe option i did found,
and restart my note , and THIS IS THE END MY NOTE STUCK IN GALAXY NOTE 4 LOGO NO MATTER WHAT I DID
right now i am downloading Ukranian lollipop firmware but I don't think this will make a difference
Any help guys any solution to fix my phone , please i can't afford to pay to fix it
thank you in advance
UPDATE : My friend told my to root it again maybe it will work , but i just got the old recovery but still STUCK IN GALAXY NOTE 4 LOGO
So my device now working i just download this frimware
HERE
Ukranian one , and work like magic , I hope this thread work for someone else ,
If flashing the latest stock Samsung firmware back onto your device doesn't fix your problem. I would recommend taking it into a Samsung Service Center to see if they can fix it for you. If it's software based they will usually fix it for you free of charge.

Hello ive tried to root my s7 edge and successfully works, and for some reason, i turned off the oem unlock in dev options. The time comes when my phone got empty, so i quickly tried to charge it but it stuck on s7 edge logo and has a red font above saying "custom binary block by frp lock" i managed to get through it by flashing stock rom from sammobile but on the first boot, my s7 edge was so laggy and cant even make a simple home button it takes so much time for keys to function and there are popping up errors "com.sec.epdg has stopped" and " IMS Service has stopped" and in notifications bar saying "upgrading android/updating android" something like that. luckily i be able to turn it off and go for factory data reset. but after setting the phone, my settings got messed up like theres 2 application, 2 device maintenance and and other additional settings like t roaming, service provider which i dont see on my settings before it all messed up. I also realize that i cant find the fast charging settings which explains why its not so fast when i do charging. Can anyone please help me? You think i flash the wrong stock rom? My original product code is :crying: and i cant seem to find it in sammobile. sorry for my english but any help would be so much appreciated.
Btw, my phone was bought from UAE and im pretty sure that my model number is SM-G935FD. My phone is dual sim. However, when i chose the SM-G935FD category in sammobile, i noticed that there were no UAE country, so i choose to download the stock rom coming from vietnam because at the box of the phone it says manufactured in vietnam so i think thats what pushed me to download it. please help
Dear All,
I have a Samsung Galaxy A8 (SM-A800F) phone (obtained via service provider, but unlocked). It was hardbricked when I put it for charging after slightly over one year of use. I got it fixed from a local shop, who somehow, installed the chinese ROM (for SM-A8000). Now my phone has following changes from original:
1) It has chinese ROM without the google play store and most of the default apps are in Chinese.
2) It has also changed the model no. to A8000, which can be seen at download mode and it is different than what is on cover (SM-A800F).
3) The serial no. has been changed from what is on the cover. (Not sure what the shop guy did and he is not responding to my plea).
4) The phone internal memory has been reduced to 16gb from original 32gb.
5) The main camera is showing a dark green tint during shooting and it comes on the pictures also.
I tried to flash the Singapore version of stock ROM using Odin, but failed with "Unsupported dev type" error and when using smart switch (based on original model (SM-A800F) & serial no.) also failed at "Secure Check Fail: PIT".
I am here to know, if there is a way to install the singapore based stock ROM (SM-A800F) on current model (SM-A8000)? I am not worried about warranty anymore.
I was thinking, if I could change the model no. and serial no. in "build.prop" after rooting it and use Odin or smart switch to flash the correct stock ROM, will it work?
Please help me, as it is frustrating to use a phone where most default apps are in a language which I do not understand and also to know that the phone memory and camera are not working after paying for the repair.
Thank you so much!

Yes Sir, It it the same phone. The cover shows SM-A800f but inside it is SM-A8000. And I was also baffled at first, when I knew the issue. Memory reduction may occur due to ROM (thats wat I have learnt from some forum discussions) but how did the serial no. and model no. change. Also I forgot to mention that the IMEI of both SIM card slots has also changed from the wat is on the cover.
I was told that he change the power IC, but seems may be he changed quite a bit of hardware. Could it be?
Nevertheless, now I have installed the Hongkong version stock ROM along with the PIT file from Hongkong one and now I have google apps. So far so good. And my both sim slots are also working fine, contrast to some people whose Sim slots were not working after they changed to Hongkong firmware from Chinese.
However, I would still like to know any solution to change to original A800f firmware, if any.
Thank you in advance.

Hello, I'm not sure whether this is the right place for my problem but I will give it a try. I have a problem with TWPR recovery on sm-a8000 Chinese version.
Every time I try to flash any zips it fails.
Error 70 failed to mount preload (invalid argument ) I can't do factory reset either. I'm able to root the phone and the phone works normally except for the custom recovery. I tried to do factory reset in original recovery and it worked.
My aim is to install Google play apps.
Here are some pictures of the recovery result. My internal memory is only 3Mb in the recovery but if I connect the phone to my computer it shows 16Gb.
Any idea what's going on?
Hey everyone!
I've got this VodafoneTV Box made by Sagemcom from friend. I tried to find some documentation but no luck. It is very popular in France, Spain, New Zealand.
When i turn it on it starts with the setting up, pair your remote, connecting to network...etc but allways stuck on " SA005 contact technical support". Tried to do button pressing combination, but nothing. Only makes an upgrade. But does not go into recovery mode, if it has any.
I was thinking if i could install a clean androidtv firmware but i didnt find any solution for this model.
This is the model: https://i1.wp.com/witchdoctor.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/vodafone-tv-3.jpg?fit=1200,727&ssl=1
It has a Broadcom BCM7252 Soc which i found in several other models, which made me think if others can upload other firmware why i cant?
Some more foto:

Also i found this article: https://www.anquanke.com/post/id/147139 My board looks very similar to it.
So does anyone know more about this product?
Thanks!
