double tap to wake - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a TWRP custom recovery. I would like to install the "double tap to wake" feature. What's to be downloaded? I have the latest RR ROM.

Well our phone doesn't have the really "double tap to wake" my friend. Sorry you won't have that like lumia

That feature requires hardware support and the S4's hardware does not support it.

Add extra menu (reboot, shutdown, etc.)

Hello
You can add the stock off the menu and other options such as reboot recovery?
There is a tutorial? or how to do?
Thank you and excuse me if I have not expressed correctly
You need to have ROM like cyanogenmod

You can do it with a custom ROM - there may also be a mod floating around the site as well, but you would need root, still.
If you are already running a custom ROM you may have to check Developer Options and enable it.
Or you can add QuickBoot to your homescreen (or add it to Sidebar, even better IMO)

This gives you exactly the advanced power menu you're looking for, without having to flash a different ROM.

[Q] Menu option in RAZR M

Hi there. This is my first post, sorry if my english is not that good.
Is there a way to put the menu "button" like in the Eclipse Rom? Any modification or any patch?
Like that but without the search button.
Thanks.

On stock ROM - the answer is No (or if anyone will be able to patch stock SystemUI.apk to add legacy menu button). But you could flash CyanogenMod 10.1 or 10, or any other ROM based on CM. They all have NavBar settings.

Yep. You shouldn't need it anyways, as modern apps have an in-app menu, and it appears automatically for legacy apps

Thanks! I managed to put the menu button in the Configuration menu. The new DroidVPN app doesnt have a menu button anywhere perhaps. Thats why i wanted to put the menu button in the device. Thank you!

[Q] Take screenshot without using hardware button

Been using galaxy nexus before.
Now I am looking for nexus 4 ROMS that can take screenshot without using hardware button (vol down+power), for example long press navigation bar or shake or on-screen shortcuts.
Thanks a lot!

Any ROM that includes PIE controls can be used to take a screenshot without using hardware buttons, just enable the second row of buttons and screenshot is included by default. PIE is available on ParanoidAndroid, SlimBean, and many ROMs based on these ROMs (including Odyssey).

Thanks
Would it be possible to install that on google stock ROM?
And would that work if I unroot the phone?

No... PIE controls are integrated into certain custom ROMs such as ParanoidAndroid and Slim Bean and are not available as an app. If you want to take screenshots on the stock ROM without pressing and holding volume down and power buttons for two seconds, you will need to install a separate screenshot app which may require root privileges to access the screen image.

yes, it's possible, but it wouldn't be as simple as installing something, you would have to take the source and build it yourself, big headache i'm sure. You'd be better off using one of the near stock roms in the dev section and just going with one that has pie incorporated already.

Actually I have learned of LMT, an XDA app, that can simulate PIE controls on any ROM including stock Android although it still requires root privileges to capture screen images. You can find detailed information and download links for LMT at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150.

kernel tap twice to unlock

hey guys
I'm looking for a kernel which will allow me to double tap the screen to unlock it
I'm currently running PA latest version
thanks in advanced
Ariel
double tap to unlock wouldn't be a kernel function but an OS/ROM function, no? Double tap to wake is a kernel function, that's common amongst all kernels, I believe. It just needs to be activated.

Activated by app/rom (which typically loads a module), but kernel needs to support it as well. I recommend Touchcontrol.
im running PA and he's asking to change to stock kernel
should i allow him?
no other way?

You don't have to use stock (modded) kernel. A bunch of custom ones have module support too-franco, hells, faux...

double tap to wake

hi guys
i'm using resurrection remix rom 5.8 version for my redmi 2, in this rom there is a feature where you can double tap on the lock screen to sleep the screen. i want to ask is there any way to enable double tap to wake feature like the previous version of this rom. not using any third party app .. is there any flash-able zip to get this feature installed??
Please do not comment here for request, this page is for Developers only. Please ask the question in Redmi 2 Questions and Answers. Delete this thread.
Wrong place to post the question.
It should be in the Q&A section.
RR stock kernel has double tap to wake and sweep to wake already just install Kernel Adiutor app from playstore and enable it in 'Wake' section of the app.
