Hi all !
This is a bit "newbie" but here goes.
1 => I have all my applications [ .APK Files ] backed up on both my SD Card and on my Laptop
2 => I am about to install a new ROM
3 => This ROM [ naturally ] will wipe everything and does *not* come with ASTO or RootExplorer or any other File Manager / Browser built in
4 => I know how to copy my .APK Applications back to the root of my SD Card and then put the SD Card back in the Phone
5 => my problem is then ...... once I've done Step 4, how do I find, see and open and install these .APK's to my Phones ROM given that ASTO or RootExplorer or any other File Manager / Browser is not already in the new ROM I just installed ?
Or in other words - do I have to go online to AppMarket to get a free File Manager to install my .APK's - I was trying to find a way to avoid having to do this ?
Hope the above makes sense.
Thx,
Ben
Hi!
I am also a newbie..but trying to help:
If must have root access in your ROM, which means you can control what to install. In the first page of the thread you will find that information. With root access, just install from the market some file manager (I use ES Explorer, and it is free) and click on the .apk file. Be sure you alowed instalation of unknown sources under applications setings.
Hope it helps!
Hi empat
Many thanks for your response.
I am aware about going to App Market and getting a FREE File Manager [ like ES Explorer ] as you mentioned but I was really wanting to find out if there is a way to install .APK files on to my ROM without having to go online to APP MARKET to get a [ albeit ] free File Manager ?Thx,
Ben
Sorry, Ben..now I understand your point!
Do you know Droid Explorer? This application is installed in your pc. I am not sure and can not test now, since I am out of my house, but it seems to me that this program is able to install those files on the phone.
once again, hope it helps!
Hi
Looks like Droind Explore is *not* compatible with a HD2 running Android 2.3 - maybe it doesnt like the HD2 and/or Android 2.3 ?
Ben
Hi!
What happens? The program does not recognise your device? I am not sure about android 2.3, but I used it sucessfully with android 2.2/HD2..
Maybe you can ask this question in the thread devoted to your ROM?
Good luck!
Hi empat

This file manager has a bug which can't open the external SD card even with the root permission.
Use ES File Explorer app or any other file manager app.
Ok thanks all
Delete the .Android Secure Folder in SD card to Fix. (use PC or file manager to deleted it)
You must have noticed WLAN_LOGS folder in your internal storage with some files inside it taking up considerable amount of space. These files re-apppear even after deleting them. WLAN_LOGS : https://imgur.com/a/pq32N
After further digging I found out that MIUI devs have enabled (or should I say forgotten to disable) WiFi logging on the final build of MIUI ROM. WiFi logs are dumped as soon as you connect to any WiFi. This issue is present on official MIUI8, MIUI9 ROM and MIUI based custom ROMs such as Xiaomi.EU, MIUI Pro etc. as well.
How to disable WiFi log spam (needs root access) : Root here
Install any file manager app that supports root access such as Solid Explorer, MiXplorer
Open the app and grant root permissions
Go to the root folder > data > misc > wifi > cnss.diag.conf
Open it with the text editor and change the values as under
Code:
LOG_PATH_FLAG = 0
MAX_LOG_FILE_SIZE = 1
MAX_ARCHIVES = 1
LOG_STORAGE_PATH =
Save the file and reboot your phone. WiFi logging will be disabled permanently.
it's disabled now on xiaomi.eu 7.10.19 dev ROM.
Thanks a lot :good:
Thanks for the mod.
Can we do this with a magisk module ? Just in case
Hi all,
Just sharing my solution, I wanted to avoid rooting
So I deleted the folder wan_logs and created an empty file in internal root folder with the same name
So the system finds itself unable to create the folder and consequently can't create files in there
Seems to do the job

Hi folks I am using S4 gt-i9505 I am using 4.4 stock rom I bought a new SD card. When I plug it into the phone, I can not assign anything to the SD card without root permission (from file managers) and I am also on the internet. I searched a bit and on the internet / system / etc / permisson/platform.xml (I'm not sure exactly) I had to change some code in the platfor.xml file on the internet, but I did not open the bluetooth when I restarted the phone and it was still in the bottom line. I can no longer assign system applications to the sd card nor file administrators can only make root explorer files.then I changed the platform.xml file that I took as a backup. Then I flashed the stock rom with pc but it did not improve on the yine. What should I do now. Please help me!!!
