This file manager has a bug which can't open the external SD card even with the root permission.
Use ES File Explorer app or any other file manager app.

Ok thanks all

Delete the .Android Secure Folder in SD card to Fix. (use PC or file manager to deleted it)

[Q] Installing App without market

Hello folks,
I've got an .apk file on my sd card. To install that app, i need to unmount my SD-Card. Therefor i cannot install my app - which is located on the sd card - anymore. I want to do it without the market. I already tried to move the file with the astro-manager to the mnt folder (which you can still see even you unmounted your sd card). But i couldn't copy the file with astro to this folder.
Any suggestions?
Try AppInstallerV2
You may need to move files .apk to a PC via Wi-Fi.
I do this.
Move. Apk file to pc.
Run ES File Explorer on MINI connection WiFi to PC part to .apk.
Click to .apk.
ES File Explorer to install the files. Apk by way of it to Phone.
Or do it using the adb install command.
Have a look here for ADB Infos.
Upload apk to DropBox, copy link, paste in Browser and install
*ouch* Why didnt i have this idea?
Thanks codiak that worked
i used this command ( just for other users which have the same problem as me )
adb install path/on/windows/myfile.apk

I think it is not pre-installerd, only Astro file manager.

[Q] Viewing nook system files on my computer?

I am a bit stuck... I rooted my Nook Touch using the TouchNooter method. It worked well and I can install apps from the market easily.
But I think I missed a step. I want to be able to access nook system files on my computer and can't seem to figure out how. When connected via USB, I can see the normal Nook folders for adding books and such but none of the system files.
I want to be able to add/remove apk's using my computer. Is this even possible?
The easiest way to do this is copy apk files to your SD card and then use ES File or Root explorer to fin and install them.

Even Astro get to install apk, and it's free on market.
While the OP can get Astro she will not be able to see the system files with that. ES File allows access to root files and is free as well.
I have not wifi and any file mangers
I rooted my nook touch.
I have not wifi (unavailable to me)and any file mangers (root explorer &...) how can i install file manager in my nook ?
I want to be able to install apk's using my computer. Is this even possible?
you can install using adb throught wifi. google adb.
I've successfully rooted my touch, and am trying to install Messagease & Instafetch.
Using ES File Explorer, I can't gain access to /system/apps, which is where i'm told they need to go- ES File won't go navigate above the SD card, although I've enabled root access & /system mounting.
i've tried copying the apks to an sd card, but install fails due to non-market issues, although i've enabled installing from non-market sources as well (as far as i can tell, anyway- maybe i have to do that in another place too?).
any ideas what I've done wrong? let me know if i need to post any other info. I'm using LinuxMint.
thanks!

If you enable it using Nook Color Tools, you should untick and tick again the checkbox to make it work
Also, it may be possible to access the system partition booting with noogie.img ...
merci mille fois!
sorry for the question, but is rooting a 2nd time with noogie.img a bad idea, or will it just overwrite the image i created with touchnooter?
thanks in advance,
-steve
i may have figured something out: i remade a new image with noogie.img, the rebooted the nook with the sd card in. once the "rooted forever" appeared, I plugged in the USB and 7 partitions showed up on my computer screen. i was able to access the files there and put the messagease.apk and instapaper apps in there that way.
thanks again!

[Q] Cm7.1 root access?

I recently installed Cm7.1 on my Nook Color, does this give me root access? The reason i ask this is because i was attempting to access my build.prop to try to get some games to work but i can not seem to be able to access it via Astro File Manager. Also on a side note, every time i install an app and do not have my sd card in my Nook i am prompted to do so instead of using my internal memory?

CM7 is a rooted ROM. The file access model is setup to make sure you know what you're doing to prevent you from modifying or deleting a file that is essential to the system even though the ROM itself is rooted. I don't use Astro so I don't know how to get root access for that app. File managers like File Expert (free) or Root Explorer (cheap) will allow you to access the root and system files, but you may have to enable the capability in a setup option. In addition, you will have to set the directory to read/write from read-only to actually modify a file.
Thanks for the info, thought i did something wrong when i was installing cm7

If you use ES File Explorer (recommended) then it has a setting to make the system directory read / write. You can then just long touch the file, open it using the built in text editor and save it.
Yup i did that, checked both boxes under root settings but i am unable to navigate out of the sd card
es file explorer
To get out of SD card, go into settings and change home to / instead of /mnt/sdcard next time you open it will start in base directory

App install Fails?

hey all iv noticed this a lot with the stock 2.2 rom on my POV Mobii tegra 2 (advent vega rebrand).
e.g i uninstalled a game called jelly defence, then tried to install an updated version of it. the install fails saying aplication not installed.
ok so i then tried to reinstall the first version i had working on the tablet, and that also fails to install saying again application not installed..
why would this be happening? iv noticed that it happens on a fair few number of apps that i install, then uninstall, then try to install again and they fail to install.
installation is done via apk file from sd card. even tried over wifi and still same error.
I know this might sound rude, but did you try Google?
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4226132/application-not-installed-error-on-android
ahh, could be something to do with the certificates or the AndroidManifest.xml file.
where is this file located so that i can check its permissions?
This might be a tough nutt to crack...
"AndroidManifest.xml" file is inside .apk files.
ok i managed to fix the problem. i mounted my sd card to the pc with card reader, and in the android.secure folder there was a file called smdl2tmp1.asec , i deleted that and now the app installs fine. got both jelly defence and few others installed with no issues.
strange how i cant see that folder on the tablet itself because its hidden. need an app to see the folder and its contents directly on the tablet so i can delete it again if needed.
Yeah, folders and files with a dot infront of their names are invisible.
It's a Linux thing!
Glad you got that sorted out!
is there no file manager app that can see these files directly on the tablet?
Just tried "iFileManager" app I got with stock tablet software and it can see hidden files/folders.
I also tried Root Explorer and it can see hidden files/folders, but this is a paid app.
Astro File Manager can also see hidden files/folders, but you need to go into Preferences-->Look and Feel-->and enable "Show Hidden Files" option.
Maybe your current file manager app also has such an option?
Hope I helped, and don't forget to give a thanks!
ahh, i have stock ifilemanager, but i dont use it, i use ES File Explorer since i can access my LAN shares with it easily over the wifi. will give ifilemanager a go in few mins time.
thanks again.
just checked ifilemanager can see the folder but it cant see any of the file which are inside the folder.
Just checked some "hidden" folders myself on my tablet.
Some have files / sub-folders inside and some don't.
Not all folders need to have files inside.
but when i check the folder on the pc via sdcard reader, there are files in the folder.
cant see them directly on the tablet, but when connected to pc i can see the files in exact same location.

[GUIDE] Disable WiFi logging on MIUI ROM

You must have noticed WLAN_LOGS folder in your internal storage with some files inside it taking up considerable amount of space. These files re-apppear even after deleting them. WLAN_LOGS : https://imgur.com/a/pq32N
After further digging I found out that MIUI devs have enabled (or should I say forgotten to disable) WiFi logging on the final build of MIUI ROM. WiFi logs are dumped as soon as you connect to any WiFi. This issue is present on official MIUI8, MIUI9 ROM and MIUI based custom ROMs such as Xiaomi.EU, MIUI Pro etc. as well.
How to disable WiFi log spam (needs root access) : Root here
Install any file manager app that supports root access such as Solid Explorer, MiXplorer
Open the app and grant root permissions
Go to the root folder > data > misc > wifi > cnss.diag.conf
Open it with the text editor and change the values as under
Code:
LOG_PATH_FLAG = 0
MAX_LOG_FILE_SIZE = 1
MAX_ARCHIVES = 1
LOG_STORAGE_PATH =
Save the file and reboot your phone. WiFi logging will be disabled permanently.
it's disabled now on xiaomi.eu 7.10.19 dev ROM.
Thanks a lot :good:
Thanks for the mod.
Can we do this with a magisk module ? Just in case
Hi all,
Just sharing my solution, I wanted to avoid rooting
So I deleted the folder wan_logs and created an empty file in internal root folder with the same name
So the system finds itself unable to create the folder and consequently can't create files in there
Seems to do the job

On my Mi9 running MIUI 11 .conf file is located at /data/vendor/wifi and log files are at /data/vendor/wlan_logs
