Hi all, I have been using my One M9+ for just over a month now, on Android Marshmallow.
I understand that this phone was built mainly for the Chinese and European market and that it's not getting the Nougat update. I've been thinking of flashing Cyanogenmod since my phone's stock software doesn't get any updates OTA. I also found out that Cyanogenmod was released for the regular M9 but not the M9+ (source - official CM site). Does anyone know any CM ports from the M9 which I can flash, or would it be alright to flash CM for the M9 onto my phone? I mean, apart from the dual camera, fingerprint scanner and larger screen, the two are pretty much identical. Has anyone had any luck flashing CM onto this phone without bricking it?
I have yet to unlock my bootloader and check out my CID once again. Checked it once but can't remember I do remember that my phone is S-OFF and unrooted on stock recovery, and running 2. 27.1405.1 software.
Cheers!!
I'm also awaiting for same cm

m9 has snapdragon and we have mediatek.... thats a lot of difference and the reason we dont have cyanogen or much roms
Related
i actually tried to find it under m9 developers section but there is nothing so i guess the only place for M9+ is (m9+ general ) but there is nothing here i could find so if there is really no custom rom for M9+ so why i need to unlock the boot loader (which i did) or root the device ?
no one knows ?!!
I guess it is just bit too early for having a lot of options. There is one custom ROM atm that is in fact just a crutch for those who have imported phone with no support for EU languages.
Unlocking and rooting has nothing to do with it... especialy rooting...
But for example I had to get S-OFF to change the internal CID identification so that the phone things it was made for EU and download EU based OTA updates. And for S-OFF you need to unlock and root the device first anyway.
Maybe it is just because all the people are waiting for Marshmallow update and they are generaly satisfied by HTC software?

a.s.j thanks for ur replay i think im waiting too for marshmallow hope it comes soon i have the Taiwan version and thanks again
We have CleanSlate
Apart from CleanSlate which is an improvement, we don't have anything else like AOSP which would be a good framework for further development. Hopefully some devs will pick up our phone.
CM13 is supported on the M8 and M9 so it may be possible to port it to ours in the future

Hi,
Working quite for sometimes on an APP ( not published for the moment ) to make your own remote control.
I started it first with Samsung GS4 and purchased last year the ONE M8 for its TRUE IR leaning capability ( love truly the device )
Now since the update to Android 6.0 ( I use T-MOBILE NL ) HTCIR blasting/learning is gone, the standard Android IR CONSUMER still working.
It's a pity and I have sent a message toHTC but doubt this will go anywhere.
I believe the problem is not the SDK (HTCIR.JAR) but the ROM / KERNEL somehow removed that feature.
My question being, is anyone aware of that issue. Not sure if there is any solution? anyone an idea? (rooting changing ROM etc..but what's the point) or the reason from HTC why this got removed ( voluntary or not )
I guess I will purchase a second hand HTC ONE M7 as I believe it will never receive Android 6 update and from what I believe it has learning capability like the M8 right ?
THANKS
If you are curious about the APP you can see this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290996
It is no longer upated but lot happened since in the APP and I really wanted to post the APP for HTC one user.
Here video on last version including learning capability when it worked fine/
I can confirm IR Recording is not working on MM. Tried several apps without success.
cant you just downgrade to lollipop ? or is that just a dumb idea.
Thanks for the answer and sorry for late reply.
About downgrading, yes this is what I will do, truly that learning capability was great and just don't understand why they removed ( if intentional ) this say I know IR start to go away even blaster IE Samsung EDGE 7. So only half surprised but when you compare the usefulness of a very un-precise HR monitor VS IR blaster/leaning IMO it does no make sense...
Now my HTC ONE M8 is from T-MOBILE NL and is not s-off.... So RUU is not possible AFAIK. So will have to ROOT it, this is no issue ( I did once) but not sure if I can flash IE HTC_One_M8_Lollipop_5.1_LMY47O.H9.zip (ORIGINAL from HTC) via TWRP without issues...I say this because when I got the HTC one M8 not knowing much about it I broke WIFI ( no longer switched on ) and T-MOBILE wad nice enough to replace the phone. So if anyone can confirm I can do this of course at my own risk...
Thanks

You don't need s-off to flash roms, only for ruu's
If you restore the nandroid from this thread you should be fine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376

You mean WiFi didn't work after you flashed a custom ROM? If so, this is usually due to firmware (hboot, radio, etc.) being too old, such as KK firmware, and you flashed a LP ROM.
But going "back" such as the case of what you want to do (running a LP ROM with MM firmware) is usually not an issue. Meaning, the firmware is usually backwards compatible. And in fact, there doesn't seem to be much difference between LP and MM firmware; no reports of broken WiFi that I've seen, even going forwards.
In any case, do a TWRP backup of your current setup (as you always should before flashing a ROM), and you can easily revert if you flash a ROM and run into issues.
Many thanks for the reply.
Since I have ONE M8 T-MOBILE NL it is hard if not impossible to find the RUU and anyway no s-off.
So I will go with that nandroid backup busy right now with it.
The WIFI issue I had was back one year ago or so when I unlocked the boot, installed TWRP, routed the phone and installed a marshmallow ROM and kaboom... could not get wifi back so went to T-MOBILE NL and they changed the phone no question asked this was after only couple days I got it. Thsi chilled me to play with HTC and custom ROM ( I'm more familiar with Samsung )
The fact that HTC removed learning capability somehow demotivated me on my project though I have a server for my APP that uses USB-UIRT if I need learning capability. But for sure HTC ONE M8 for me at the time was the best and the difference with the other.
So I will revert / try that ROM so to have truly universal remote control and be again motivated
Again many thanks for your reply that gives me extra confidence in proceeding AGAIN I KNOW AT MY OWN RISK, but I have nothing to loose I have another phone and intend to use now the HTC ONE M8 as a glorified remote control.
Thanks

I managed to flash HTC_One_M8_Lollipop_5.1_LMY47O.H9 and no wifi issue so that is good but it seems that the GPE ROM only has the blasting capability from the standard google class ConsumerIrManager and does not support ConsumerIrManagerHtc hence no learning ...
If anyone could provide me a link of a stock nandroid HTC ROM Lollipop 5.1 (not GPE) I'be be very grateful... Even if I loose phone.
Of course better would be CID T-MOB003 but I did not find...
Thanks

Stock TWRP nandroid backup (Sense LP for your CID) is posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Note that this is not a flashable ROM zip, but rather a TWRP backup. So you'll need to unzip the folder contents, transfer to proper location on the phone, and RESTORE in TWRP (not INSTALL). See tutorial steps 4 through 9 (then reboot). You shouldn't need to do the remaining steps.

Many many thanks for that. Was busy last 2 weeks but got it to work first finding a KitKat rom (before your post) working fine with HTCIR blast/learning and then installed fine the above all working fine as it used to be before the Marshmallow update that IMO regressed in this sense in HTC sense removing IR learning (I bought the device exactly for that unique capability). The good things is now since I did backup of both ROM I can test my APP on both and think about people using M7 that might want to keep this older device to actually have a powerful universal remote control with IR PRONTO hex learning capability. Still very busy with that APP and I hope to post / update it soon here for the M7/M8 users still on HTC sense ROM with IR learning capability.
Again many thanks for pointing me at the right link, I searched searched but missed it somehow.
Cheers
PS: M10 still kept the IR blasting for what I know, not sure about learning? anyone knows?

Hi Chaps,
Ive just noticed this post, is this definitley official then, no IR in Marshmallow??, i hope they sort it in the future then, ill be dropping back down to LP myself for now.
Does anyone know if there is a custom Marshmallow ROM for the LG VK410 (Verizon)? I hate that there's no Marshmallow release yet.
Could (or would) the VK410 take ROM's designed for the V410?
I've already checked for a CyanogenMod build for the VK410, but none exists.

You're rooted on a Marshmallow VK410 ?
How ?
Typing from a VK410 on ROOTED VK41010A with TWRP 3.0.2 for v410 flashed via Flashify....
From the TWRP app or a powered off state you will see the STOCK RECOVERY when trying to access twrp recovery. I pissed a little when continuing got the system to reboot and not twrp... I tried again this time choosing to wipe cache in the stock recovery, this made twrp start and then I could use twrp recovery as intended.
Downloading CM12.1 then CM13 for v410... I'll report back!
Havent used this device in a while what the hell lets see what it can handle.
TWRP made a backup to external sd and restored with no problems++
My Google Drive for downloads if you wanna look around....
Maybe I will host a clean rooted 4.4.2 VK41010a Backup somewhere... along with the stock recovery.img and boot.img for that build.

I used KingRoot to do it. However, I installed a Marshmallow ROM, or tried to. Would always boot to the stock ROM. Is the bootloader locked?

What was the version of Android when you ran Kingroot?
Had it been rooted at all before ? The device itself..
If you're the only owner of the device you'd definitely know if you unlocked the boot loader..
Typically by default they are all locked.. The only ones generally friendly about openly allowing easy unlocks or ship that way are the newish revenue stream known as "dev editions" of devices.

When I rooted it, I was on the latest version of Android provided by Verizon. As I am the original owner, it had not been rooted previously.
And, is it possible to unlock the bootloader on the VK410?

I highly doubt it.
Most devices especially Verizon usually require an exploit & the interest in this device is non existent

Did you buy this recently ?
I turned off all the ota blocks I had setup but a marshmallow update has not come yet.
Even when manually checking for updates on the device.
What's your android version number specifically ?

I am on android 5.0.2.
I have tried modding it to get CM 13 on it, but could not get it to take. I am guessing that it has a locked bootloader, but I am unsure how to unlock it.
Oh damn I thought you had found a way to get to marshmallow even as rooted stock.
I guess I mistaked your wording
Yeah no marshmallow or nougat will happen unless things that aren't likely to happen do. From either mod devs or lg & vzw
Hey there everyone,
Reviving this topic just a little bit, found lots of threads that were never really completed or seem very outdated now with some dead links.
Currently my M9+ is on Android v5, assuming if there is no OTA update that is must be the HK edition and now the TW edition.
Is it possible to load the stock TW ROM on so that I can update to v6 from v5 or flash a clean v6 on the phone? At the very least I'd love to get the phone to Android 6, but if there is a way of getting 7 on it even better!
Thanks in advance!
I updated my HK version M9+ supreme camera edition (m9px) to Android 6. I did that in Dec. 2017 - maybe my memories are not 100% correct...
1. I had to unlock the bootloader.
2. Root the phone (I did it with sunshine) (maybe S-Off as well)
3. Changed the Code from HTC__622 (HK) to HTC__621 (TW)
4. Installed TWRP
5. Installed OTA_HIAUR_ML_TUHL_M60_SENSE70_MR_hTC_Asia_TW_2.15.709.1-1.09.709.3_release_4860058i0g1lhd7gn4x096.zip
(find a free download here hxxp://gsm-firmware.com/index.php?a=browse&b=file-info&id=12954)
6. Some more automatic updates and reboots later, it was done.
Regards
Thank you very much, going to try it today
S-off HTC M9 Plus sc
I have HTC M9+ supreme camera edition, and unable to S-off by XTC2 Clip, and haven't assess to sunshine paying from Iran. I would be grateful if any one could let me know Would it be possible to S-Off with XTC2 or other free way? I greatly appreciate your considerations.

Hi. I've never really liked the Android version in my Lenovo but I am now facing an annoying issue with Play Store downloads getting stuck and delayed and going to have to reinstall.
At this point I am ready for a root and changing the ROM but I am rather lost in what android distribution are working and tested at the moment as after reading for a while there are some which are only for the Win version. I also see some references to X90L on threads about rooting and installing twrp but I am assumming these would work the same on my F version.
So the question is, what updated current ROMs are working fine and are worth (better than the official one) after root and TWRP on the Android version?
Also, once unlocked and changed bootloader, where can you get the official ones again?
Thanks for any help.
"Also, once unlocked and changed bootloader, where can you get the official ones again?"
You don't need it if you flash YB via Intel Flash Tool with oryginal rom.
