Has anyone experienced this on their device?
I moved both instagram and whatsapp on SD card, but i did that long time ago, and crashing is happening now regularly.
By crashing i mean, apps just exit.

There are applications that are not designed to work in external memories, and more if they use a large amount of data.Le Data can be corrupted. Also note that in the external memo was removed the possibility of changing the permissions of files and folders.

Hi there,
I apologize for my english.
It is not my native language .
But I have a frustrating problem.
My note 3 keeps self deleting files from my 64gb samsung sd card after a minute or reboot when the files created. So ie: I take a picture. It saves it. I close the camera app. Open gallery. File icon is there, click to open it and the file can't open.. Same with spotify, I add new music to my library and close the app and get back to it downloads it again.
Apps that are stored on the sd card, spotify music, pictures, movies, everything that was stored from two weeks ago.
So two weeks ago I had no problems. At all with this phone. Except the proximity sensor that kept the screen off after a call. But I don't mind that.
I can't save music(songs that were downloaded with spotify before the issue are still there, but when I download a new song it deletes after app close, pictures or what so ever.
What did I do before posting?
Okay, I backed up my sd card(only pictures, videos, downloads, etc, efc)
Format it(no quick format, full format) and put the files back. Copied and paste, not cut and paste(incase it wanted to delete it because it were 'new files')
And still the problem was still present. If you have or had this issue, you will understand how frustrating this is.
The only new app I downloaded that might cause this problem is a youtube downloader but I deleted that app, still same problem.
And if it is an app that causes this problem, the only thing that would help is a factory reset.
And if I do a factory reset, I really need to back up my apps. But if I back up my apps, I don't know what app is causing this problem.
Please guys, I have searched on google for this issue, and I really don't know what to do. I lost pictures of my daughters first school day. This is not funny anymore.
I have found a threat with a similar issue on note 2 but that was only with the videos and a sd card format helped for that guy.

Sorry your photos are gone forever....
Your MicroSD entered a state of read only mode....and there is another thread here...look at my post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54597235&postcount=9
Really? I just got the sd card like a month or 4 ago?
Guys, this issue pursuits me since ICS and Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) days. Pictures and videos stored on external SD card become duplicated and even triplicated all over the places. On Lollipop they appear inside Documents, G+ Photos...
Now this is even causing a lot of force closes related to media service when even opening wallpaper settings on latest Temasek CM12 build, but I already heard from other ROMs users that this is also happens.
I remember that was an app that forced system to recognize only one path to external SD card to avoid this issue, but I simply can't find it anymore and probably it even wouldn't work on Lollipop, since so much has changed.
What I found for now is that I need to clear media storage cache to get rid of this temporarily, until next reboot. Also, this causes a lot of battery drain and takes time to G+ Photos index everything again.
Any permanent workaround for this, excluding moving all files to internal storage?
Hi all,
I'm having this issue for too long and couldn't find any details on the web.
I'm an heavy user of Whatsapp and it crashes and freezes many times...
The most annoying thing happends when I try to open a photo via Whatsapp media and to pinch to zoom in,
I'm getting a force close.
I tried to format the phone\clear data and restore backup and no luck...
I have 2 more friends (With the N6 not N6P) and they having the same issue.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Daniel.
I used to have the same issue ... turns out there were TOO many image files in the WhatsApp media folder. When you open an image in whatsapp, it tries to refresh the list so it reads ALL the images again and thus the app hangs and you get that force close message ...
I had to delete all old images from the WhatApp\Media\Images folder and everything went back to normal ...
HIH
I have this issue for as long as i have my Oneplus One ( ~2years). Really annoying. If you delete all backups and all media, and do a fresh install of whatsapp without database restoring, (as if you were using the app for the first time in your life), the issue seems gone. Only problem is that I like having all texts available at any time :/ Samsung phones don't seem to have this bug, but every CM Rom I've (and some of my friends) tried have it. If anyone has a fix for this, I'd be very glad to hear about it.
hello.
Im using my note 4 about 3 years.
From a month ago, my pictures started hiding one by one and I noticed that .nomedia files are created in every single folder.
I did an odin flash/ didnt work
Unistalled some apps /dw
Installed media rescan and deleted media storage data and scanned pics.
The pics showed up but reappeared again.
Its frustrating.
Any help pls?

you did something a month ago that caused this, probably a new app, if you are rooted backup your apps with titanium backup and uninstall them one by one to test which one is responsible for this problem
Also install various anti-virus apps from playstore and scan for viruses/malwares

I have bitdefender paid.
When delete the nomedia's, takes some time for it to reappear. So I wont be able to test it by unistalling my whole apps one by one. Is it certainly caused by an app?
Solved!! (I think)
In my case, every time I used to add my sd card, the internal pictures started to hide. Even after deleting every .nomedia file and deleting Media Storage's data, and using Media re.scan, the pictures were shown up, but after a reset or reinserting the sd card, the pictures hid again!
Even unistalling apps, didnt work for me.
So I noticed that its a problem from the sd card!
I had nothing Special in sd, but an Android folder full of files and folders.
Deleted the whole "Android" file which was in sd card, and after that, my pictures are not hiding!!
THAT MEANS THAT SOMETHING **** WAS HIDING MY PICS FROM THE ANDROID FOLDER!
I hope this fixes problems of others!

My phone is working great for the most part except every few days I have to restore my TWRP backups because internal storage space starts decreasing for no reason. I start out at about 6.33GB then a couple days later i'm down to 4GB or less. No installation of apps and all photos/videos/downloads go to my external SD card. I researched the issue and have installed the app DiskUsage but can not find any apps adding storage. I have also went into Device/System/Bin and went to Dumpstate and Dumpsys properties and unchecked write and execute. I clear all app caches and davilk all the time and restart phone. But problem still persists! Since my phone isnt stock I can not access the #0990# or whatever the code is to access the menu to delete dumpstate as going thru dialer does not pull up the hidden menu even tho hidden menu is marked 'ON' in my settings. I'm getting a bit annoyed by this internal storage issue! Any ideas? Anyone!?
UPDATE: 12/22/2019 I restored backup again and took screenshot list of all app sizes to compare for later when storage drops. I've found out most of my apps are taking up more space and i'm not referring to just cache without doing anything the ones that I hardly use or know that dont save data. Why is this happening!? I went from 60% to 68% taken space over night.
Did you ever sort this out? I am having the same problem with a custom rom on my rooted A3 2017.

No it's still an ongoing issue despite weather I use the android version mentioned, 7.1.2 or Android 11. Something to take note I never had this issue on STOCK roms that I can recall or before Android made the decision to use Adaptable storage for apps I want to say that happened in 2015 or 16. Previously you could just put most apps on external sd card.

My issue with disappearing internal memory appears to have settled down. I've installed the "Disk usage and storage analyser" app from the play store and for the last week my internal storage has been stable at 4GB. Don't know why but the app seems to be limiting the amount of internal memory that the apps can take.
I'll give it another week and see if things take a turn for the worst.

I think I might have talked to you about this app before. Anyhow nope it didnt work for me. In the past week in storage has ballooned to more than a gig. I have to restore my phone anywhere from every couple weeks to a month because of the storage issue. Apps are writing to internal storage once installed. Thanks for trying to help with the situation.
Try something like SD Maid to clear the caches.
Google Play Services and other Google apks are notorious for building "useless" bloat data bases.
Make sure Google Firebase is disable.
Find the data hog 3rd party apps and take the trash apps out. Multiple browsers are prime targets.

Thanks for the tips! I did install SD Maid it's helped clear out space but still having the issue. I looked into disabling Google Firebase but I can't find where it's located? I don't have too many apps installed and just Chrome browser. Most stock apps are trashed.

You're welcome.
Phone settings under Google.
Disabling Google play Services probably will kill it too although the data will remain.

Yeah I can't find firebase under google settings. Disabling google services will make Google product apps stop working. I need PlayStore, Gmail and Maps etc.
