What have you tried? I would suggest posting in whatever guide thread you are using, detailing which step you are having trouble with.

i follow the steps and rooted the phone successfully ,
in the process adb complain about version not compatible , i just downloaded adb.exe and replaced it and it worked nice.
my only problem is that this method upgraded the ROM to android 6

Can you answer these questions:
Is your boot loader unlocked now?
Do you want a stock version of 5 or an after market version. If you have an unlocked boot loader do you want CyanogenMod 12 or a variation of it?
Why did you root your phone?

You can root any ROM with TWRP & Magisk. You just need an unlocked boot loader to get started with.
If you don't want to or can't unlock your boot loader go here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...oot-method-t3561529/post71147687#post71147687
and click the box below the "If your eMMC CID starts with "11," start here:" statement.

u need to unlock BL. no unlock = no root.
if you are still interested to root:
1. Backup your TA (or not, it's your choice)
2. flash TWRP
3. Install Magisk
Is there already Root for the G8141 Pie?

There's only one correct way to unlock the bootloader, with the unlock code sent by Motorola.
Here's a tutorial:

This is about flashing stock, below you'll find flashing TWRP and Magisk i.e rooting. Links for TWRP, ADB and Fastboot and Magisk are included.
I'm about to make an own thread for this and expand it with things like unlocking, decrypting etc .

You don't have to flash stock (that part of the tutorial was written for another user).
After unlocking the bootloader your device will be wiped and if your build number is OPSS28.85-17-6 you should actually receive one more OTA up to OPSS28.85-17-6-2 (Feb 2019 security patch).
After unlocking and maybe getting that update you can flash the latest TWRP as usual and root by flashing magisk.zip from there.

[FIG-LX1 EMUI 9.1] help needed to install custom rom

Hey everyone, first post here.
I've got my phone here and I want to install a custom ROM on it. Lineage OS for example.
It's completely stock. Latest version and bootloader isn't unlocked or anything.
Is this still possible? And if so, can someone assist me through the process?
any?

You need to unlock the bootloader first to install any custom ROM.
Be aware you will have to pay to do this (around 4$) DC-unlocker method

Hello,
based on my experience with this device, this is only possible
if you followed rules by Meticulus...
Using his recovery you should have created a backup
through which return to rooted stock.
If you don't have that backup this is not possible anymore...
Cheers
Sadly i dont have any backup but i have the bootloader unlock code. If i do a full ota can i unlock my bootloader with the same code?

Sure, but...
you have to go back to stock first.
