Is it possible to have the EU keypad on the RU Firmware - YotaPhone

I currently have 3x Yotaphone 2 phones (one arrived today) and the two I am using so far have the EU firmware 124b. The main reason I installed the EU firmware instead of the RU version is because I find the phone keypad looks so strange with the Russian characters. I realise that it is better to use the RU firmware as there is a later firmware available with Marshmallow due to be released soon, too.
Is there a way of using the RU firmware, but keeping the normal EU keypad, or alternatively installing an alternative keypad app.
Perhaps by swapping one of the files used in the firmware update?

Maybe it will look familiar, if you change the firmware language to english.

Not sure you can change the stock keypad, but you may download any dialer app to your liking.
I have used the stock dialer for years now so I'm unable to recommend any app.

I have started to look at alternative dialer apps as that is probably the best solution. Does anybody have any good suggestions as there are so many to choose from?
Can I change from the EU firmware to the RU firmware without losing my settings and data? The version is the same so is it just a matter of flashing the files without formatting the user area?
Note, my phone is currently rooted. Can that be preserved (with data) while switching to RU?

Firmware version does not change with KDZ upgrade

My new LG came with D80210b-466-92 firmware and I flashed it with the UK T-Mobile version - also tried the Eur open version.
However, while the phone took the firmware upgrade, its still showing the old version of firmware i.e. D80210b-466-92. I've done the hard reset and the phone restarts in Chinese. Once I change to English its fine and all the Chinese apps are gone but its still showing the old firmware???
If I flash, say, the D80210a EUR firmware, the version changes to D80210a-466-92, not D80210a-EUR-xx as I would expect.
I have flashed about 8 firmwares (including Kitkat) and the last five digits (country code) never change but the first 7 always change as they should. The flashed firmware does seem to work OK, just the version does not update.
Any ideas?

Yeah, no one seems to know, its a real head scratcher.
466-92 is the Taiwanese country code AFAIK.
I don't think it affects the phone at all but I would like to know why it happens. Its the only seems to affect phones with the 466-92 firmware.
No ideas anyone?
answer
hy
i was having the same questions about the "466-92" code.
here is the catch...
the country/region code is encrypted in hardware of the phone, meaning the phone was build for that region and cannot be changed in any mode! - this answer i obtained from LG customer service.
still, you can put any of stock roms for your device (d802 in my case) and will work, all of them are original and compatible with device, working with same parameters (differences are in fact some apps in addition or in minus for some regions/countries that are bloatware anyway), so the basic is same for all (ex. 20a, 20b, 20c, 20h or 20d or other letters released)
NOTE 1. you can put any of stock rom for your device BUT only with a custom flashing program (ex. LG_flash_tool - which i use);
NOTE 2. if you wanna update or change your software with LG Mobile Support Tool (default and official program from LG to change/upgrade software), the phone will receive the software version for the region/country accordingly to THAT number/code from the end of the software name (D80220c-466-92 - in my case).
if you own a taiwanese version of d802 it will show the "466-92" all the time and with any version of software !

for country/region codes of your phone model search google, it's easy to find - and see what region your phone was made for
every region/country or group of countries have a version of software by default
ex. taiwan has the kitkat version 20c - d80220c-466-92, europe open has kk 20d - d80220d-eur-xx, and so on....
search fot them, there are plenty of forums and discussions

Which firmware to use on YotaPhone2? Upgrade to Lollipop? Or keep KitKat?

Phone came with HK1.0.3.61a firmware. Looks like Russian and European firmwares are the most recent updates, if moving to Lollipop. I'll be operating in English language. The phone is a YD206. I understand regardless of which version of firmware I flash, I'll want to retain the HK or CN "RADIO" folder settings, to function properly with the hardware. It seemed that some thought that the RU version was more stable than the EU version. I guess I don't really know what the real differences are between them...any insight would be helpful. Also, I assume that I'll want to upgrade to Lollipop, but some have suggested that function is better keeping it at KitKat.
What are your opinions here?
Thanks!
-Marty
The RU and EU firmware don't differ that much but since YotaPhone being Russian the RU gets the a new firmware first (if EU gets it at all). Firmware version RU 124 (Lollipop) is running smooth and has good battery life and version 134 looks promising as well (only had that for half a day now). When I got my Chinese YotaPhone I updated it to the latest RU firmware right away and haven't regret it.
Just ordered an international version from EU warehouse, cost £20 more but it will come quicker.
Any idea what firmware the YD201 will have on? EU or RU?

I ordered mine from an EU warehouse as well (TinyDeal) but to be honest I didn't bother to check the firmware (it was stuck on KitKat as the update option was removed from Android on my phone). I just flashed it right away to the latest Russian firmware without problems.

[YotaPhone2] Anyone wanting to switch from RU to EU

Hi Guys,
Just wanted you to know that for past 3 monts I've been using latest RU firmware (RU1.1.134 I guess...).
Wanted to get rid of russian phone keyboard I switched to latest EU firmware LRX21M5.0.0-EU1.1.124b (downloaded off: ftp://fw.ydevices.com/YotaPhone2/Firmwares/EU/ and installed with yotaphone flasher. No problem with that. Although 134 RU firmware was new prior to 124 EU, I do not see any important differences, so in case anyone wants
to do the same, You are free to go
Cheers,
spinecki
I would say no thank as I just moved from EU to RU.
The benefit is to be on RU ROM you can have new updates quicker as they always release updates for RU first.

Yotaphone getting too hot

Hello Everybody,
I bought a Yotaphone 2 model YD206 at Gearbest. The Smartphone arrived with Android KitKat, I used for some time and it was OK, but after updating to Android 5 ROM CN it started getting too hot while casual using such as Facebook, E-mail, Whatsapp.
Is that normal? I expected that it could get warm only while playing games or using GPS, but for my surprise it is getting too hot only for normal usage.
Is there anyone who get the same problem? If I change to another rom such RU or EU can solve the problem?
I already root the phone and also installed xposed together with L Speed to see if the problem persists, but it is still happening.
Thanks in advance!
Is there a chinese version of Lollipop?
Anyway, I see many people like you complaining about the phone getting hot after an upgrade. My guess is that its related to the baseband version. Since your model is YD206, are you sure you have flashed the correct chinese baseband with this so-called CN firmware (isn't it HK? Isn't it for YD201 models?)?

Yes, the model before updating was YD206 CN and after flashing to Android 5 it changed to YD201 HK 1.124d.
Is there a CN firmware running Android 5? I only found HK. Maybe this is the reason it is getting hot, the baseband / radio from these versions are different, can it be?
Yeah, I would definitely flash the YD206 baseband.
In this thread here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/yotaphone-one/help/guide-everything-to-yotaphone2-t3547194), there's a revamped version of the YotaFlasher attached to the first post. With this one, it is possible to select what to flash individually to the device, i.e, whether system+radio+userdata, or only system, or only radio etc. With that you can choose to flash only the radio files from YD206 firmwares.
Use this reworked YotaFlasher, download any chinese Kitkat firmware and make sure to allow to flash only the radio binaries when prompted.

I want to go back to 4.4.3

Hi,
I've loved the colour screen changes but since my EPD is messed up from the 6.0 update, I havent used it at all.
I would go back to 5.x but I didnt like how hot it got with that so my best bet is to go back to 4.4
Problem now is that yotadevices' ftp is down so yotaflasher doesnt work.
Does someone have the latest 4.4.x rom so I can flash it through twrp?
Seems like Yota is cleaning the slate for Yotaphone 3. As for the firmware, download it from below and decompress it in the 'firmware' folder where the Yota Flasher is installed. Follow the instructions of the installer.
Here you go:
Yotaphone 2 Kitkat 4.4.3 HK
is this same software as in yd206 from gearbest

I can't say about that, though it's the official HK release from Yotaphone site ftp.fw.ydevices.com when it was online.
I am trying to find the 4.4.4 firmware version but I can't. Maybe it s because what you say that yotaphone are erasing the old files for the new model. Can any one help me with a link for the 4.4.4 firmware? I have a YD206 version, but I am no sure if its important.
Thanks

Kitkat remained briefly on my phone, so I did not update to 4.4.4. I hope someone might still have this lying around.
I just searched a torrent options and I found a 36GB ONE, which has dozens of firmwares for every flavor (HK, CN, RU, EUR,...), and no one has the 4.4.4. If some one have a link of the image and can upload to somewhere I would be gratefull
My firm is from HK. Why is everybody moving to the RU? It's because tis (I think) the most attented one? And the last questions.... When you move to a RU version it appears in an easy way to change it to english language?
Many thanks

Many thanks glasseffects, but there aren't any 4.4.4 furmware version there, in any world region. It seems it just desapeared from internet
That seems to be the case. I haven't encountered it either, though 4.4.3 wasn't bad either in contrast to Lollipop, which was catastrophic.
