Hi Guys,
Just wanted you to know that for past 3 monts I've been using latest RU firmware (RU1.1.134 I guess...).
Wanted to get rid of russian phone keyboard I switched to latest EU firmware LRX21M5.0.0-EU1.1.124b (downloaded off: ftp://fw.ydevices.com/YotaPhone2/Firmwares/EU/ and installed with yotaphone flasher. No problem with that. Although 134 RU firmware was new prior to 124 EU, I do not see any important differences, so in case anyone wants
to do the same, You are free to go
Cheers,
spinecki
I would say no thank as I just moved from EU to RU.
The benefit is to be on RU ROM you can have new updates quicker as they always release updates for RU first.

Phone came with HK1.0.3.61a firmware. Looks like Russian and European firmwares are the most recent updates, if moving to Lollipop. I'll be operating in English language. The phone is a YD206. I understand regardless of which version of firmware I flash, I'll want to retain the HK or CN "RADIO" folder settings, to function properly with the hardware. It seemed that some thought that the RU version was more stable than the EU version. I guess I don't really know what the real differences are between them...any insight would be helpful. Also, I assume that I'll want to upgrade to Lollipop, but some have suggested that function is better keeping it at KitKat.
What are your opinions here?
Thanks!
-Marty
The RU and EU firmware don't differ that much but since YotaPhone being Russian the RU gets the a new firmware first (if EU gets it at all). Firmware version RU 124 (Lollipop) is running smooth and has good battery life and version 134 looks promising as well (only had that for half a day now). When I got my Chinese YotaPhone I updated it to the latest RU firmware right away and haven't regret it.
Just ordered an international version from EU warehouse, cost £20 more but it will come quicker.
Any idea what firmware the YD201 will have on? EU or RU?

I ordered mine from an EU warehouse as well (TinyDeal) but to be honest I didn't bother to check the firmware (it was stuck on KitKat as the update option was removed from Android on my phone). I just flashed it right away to the latest Russian firmware without problems.

Cool will just check once it arrives.
I currently have 3x Yotaphone 2 phones (one arrived today) and the two I am using so far have the EU firmware 124b. The main reason I installed the EU firmware instead of the RU version is because I find the phone keypad looks so strange with the Russian characters. I realise that it is better to use the RU firmware as there is a later firmware available with Marshmallow due to be released soon, too.
Is there a way of using the RU firmware, but keeping the normal EU keypad, or alternatively installing an alternative keypad app.
Perhaps by swapping one of the files used in the firmware update?
Maybe it will look familiar, if you change the firmware language to english.
Not sure you can change the stock keypad, but you may download any dialer app to your liking.
I have used the stock dialer for years now so I'm unable to recommend any app.

I have started to look at alternative dialer apps as that is probably the best solution. Does anybody have any good suggestions as there are so many to choose from?
Can I change from the EU firmware to the RU firmware without losing my settings and data? The version is the same so is it just a matter of flashing the files without formatting the user area?
Note, my phone is currently rooted. Can that be preserved (with data) while switching to RU?
So after buying and reflashing an YD206 to 5.0 .124 RU (updated by ota to RU .134), I have purchased a YD201. It had HK .116 and updated itself to .124, but nothing else. Its IMEI number is a YD201 type, and its radio is S01_0034240_RU1_M05
I will keep it as a backup by now, so no hurry to update. But will it be updateD by ota to MM some day or should I flash its HK ROM to RU?
EU and RU will be updated to Marshmallow, so a YD201 performs better with those firmwares (of course RU radio).
Thanks, so RU ROM installed now.

Not at all, both phones work the same. Same poor wifi range too. What issues do you mean?
My YD206 had the RU radio files installed when it arrived. After reading the threads around here I switched to the CN radio. Haven't really noticed any difference--still gets pretty damn warm and gobbles up the battery.

Some people complain about refreshing rate and only working on White mode sometimes. The black mode when it works displays grey instead of black.
Hey all, I'm a newbie here and frankly I'm not a developer or anything else. I got my Yotaphone 2 recently and cannot upgrade Android to Lollipop or Marshmallow, apparently because of the Vodafone firmware I have now, see the answer from Yota Support:
You have the firmware version KTU84L.4.4.3-S01-003-VIT.0.3.50a. Originally this Vodafone firmware version can't be updated to Android Lollipop at all (and furthermore to Marshmallow). We have plans to update to Android 6.0 all those phones which have RU (ends on 1.1.134) and EU (ends on 1.1.124b) firmware versions.
That's why I would like to flash the firmware to either RU or EU version (dunno which one is better?). I went through the threads here and couldn't really find step by step manual for dummies like me. Any help would be superappreciated. Thanks.
Greetings,
Could someone point me to the right direction about updating from HK 1.1.124d to a stable RU one?
I really don't want to mess up my current setup, and I'm not sure if the yotaflasher method mentioned in this thread could be safe in this case.
As far as I know I won't be able to update to the latest marshmallow release with my current firmware.
