Hey guys,
I hope someone can come to the rescue with this matter. I did an OTA update on my LG G2 (D803) and it booted to twrp option menu. I downloaded the stock firmware (which is a ".kdz" file) for the phone but can't find a way to install it on the phone since the PC is not connecting to it neither does it have external memory. I played around the options like restore, advanced but it seems empty. I can't even turn off the device with the power button. What can I do? Please help

OTA updates don't work when custom recoveries are installed. The device would be bricked. Sorry you found out the hard way. If you can boot into TWRP, you can download a ROM and Gapps. Buy the usb flash drive that has both USB point and Android 3.0 point. Copy the downloaded ROM unto it, slot into the charging port of the phone, boot into recovery. It should detect the usb flash, navigate to downloaded ROM and flash. This would work if you can boot into TWRP. Hope it works. Give feedback. Good luck

What about ADB or terminal command? I see it under the "Advanced" Menu in TWRP?
If you can do into download mode and allready have KDZ file just use flash tool 2014 to go back to stock (search here for "going back to stock:" post)
Also.. if you can send data over usb cable, try to use sideload to upload custom rom, or like stated before, use USB stick with OTG
You can also try this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71044359&postcount=2
or this as a last case scenario: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/lg-g2-unbrickable-fix-real-hard-brick-t2904404

I have moved the kdz file to a usb stick and attached a usb stick to an OTG. But where in TWRP do I go to read the usb stick and how can I complete the process? Also I did try the SRK tool from on the links you provided. The phone is not detecting the computer while plugging in the usb while the phone is on TWRP and the computer makes a noise when the usb is connected but srk tool is not reading the phone.
You can't flash kdz with twrp or other recovery! Download custom Rom and gapps or a debloated stock rom and flash it with twrp. The custom Roms are zip files. Do you have twrp installed?
Gesendet von meinem LG-D802 mit Tapatalk
Yes you CANNOT flash KDZ with TWRP you need FLASH TOOL 2014. Download flash tool 2014 (search it on xda) than, in your G2 go into download mode, connect your phone to pc with usb cable and than run flash tool to flash kdz

How to root Lenovo TAB A7-40 A3500-FL?
[Solved] See the guide below!

MS Board. A3500FL
Bar code: this was my device's serial number
SW Ver.: ALPS.KK1.MP1.V2.10
Custom Build Verno.: 1408775889
Managed to get cwm and root with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...vo-a3500-h-t2879208/post55491817#post55491817
Modified the guide for Lenovo A3500-FL!
EDIT: Also some users have reported that this guide doesn't do the trick or is out-dated, so copypasted the guide from this post here.
Guide
1. Download attachment cwmRecovery.zip and download latest Flash_tool (version 5.1352.0) can be downloaded from here)
1.1. Enable USB-debugging. (How to do this)
2. Manually install the drivers from the attachment a7_40_drivers.zip for the LenovoTablet before plugin it to computer (win7 dirvers work for win8 too).
2.1. To install unsigned/uncertified drivers on Windows 7: http://en.kioskea.net/faq/3914-windows-7-how-to-install-unsigned-drivers
2.2. To install unsigned/uncertified drivers on Windows 8: http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
2.3. After you have disabled the driver signature verification, you can install the drivers like this: Right click My computer, Manage, Device Manager, right click your computer at the top, Add Legacy hardware, next, Install plapla manually, next, Show all Devices, Have a Disk.., Browse to the driver folder where you unzip them, choose example windows7 and the 64 version (win7 drivers work for win8.x too), install every device. Then follow the guide.
(Note: Otherwise Windows only installs the normal automatic drivers and its more difficult to install the other drivers.)
2.4. Plug your device to PC.
3. Download the latest supersu zip file (version 2.46) from attachments or from https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/
3.1. Move the zip.-file to the Sdcard.
4. Turn off your device.
5. Unpack cwmRecovery.zip
6. Run Flash_tool.exe with Admin Rights.
7. Chose Scatter-Loading and choose MT6582_Android_scatter.txt (in Recovery folder).
7.1. Now you will see checekd only one checkbox - recovery, if not click on it and choose recovery.img
7.2. Press Download.
7.3. Connect your device.
7.4. Wait few seconds.
8. Have CWM on your device .
9. Unplug your device.
10. . Boot to cmw recovery by turning off your device. Then press and hold VOL DOWN + VOL UP and then also press and hold POWER for about 7 seconds.
10.1. Choose " Install zip from sdcard." (To confrim always use the Power Button)
10.2. Choose "zip from sdcard".
10.3. Select SuperSU-v2.46.zip from sdcard and apply.
10.4. Have a rooted tablet.
It might be necessary to always flash the CWM with the Flashtool directly before you startup the device. Otherwise it will start the original AndroidRecovery again.
It might also be necessary to use different drivers from here.
If the supersu zip doesn't install, try toggling the signature verification to disabled from cwm->install zip from sdcard->toggle signature verification.
Tested and working on Levono A7-40 3500-FL with kitkat update, build number A3500FL_A442_01_25_140823_SE, from ota. Attached screenshot for proof. Also other people have reported that this works for later updates too, for example A3500FL_A442_01_27_141127_SE.
You can update to the latest OTA firmware by first going back to stock recovery. See the second post for the guide.

How to go back to stock rom/recovery and update to latest Lenovo OTA firmware update
So, it's pretty simple, you take the stock_recovery.zip from the first post, extract it, and replace recovery.img in the recovery folder with the stock one.
Then :
Quote:
4. Turn off your device.
6. Run Flash_tool.exe with Admin Rights
7. Chose Scatter-Loading and choose MT6582_Android_scatter.txt (in Recovery folder)
7.1. Now you will see checekd only one checkbox - recovery, if not click on it and choose recovery.img
7.2.. Press Download
7.3. Connect your device
7.4. Wait few seconds.
And that's it !
On a side note, if it seems stuck on a black screen with a loading circle after factory reset, you have to put the tablet in landscape mode and restart (the shutdown menu appears without any problem) - this issue doesn't seem related to recovery, but a bug within lenovo firmware and the first configuration screen.
Side note 2: The first boot after flashing new update might take 15mins.
Side note 3: After updating to the latest OTA you can go back to cwm recovery with the guide from the first post.

I got the same tablet and I also am looking for a root. :/
Another waiting for rooting lenovo owner.
Same here, i was looking for a root guide and i couldn't find anything.
Does anyone else has a problem with long charging times?
Well it charges long and the charge stays long, so no issue here.
Seems that not that many lenovos root easily, but of course this is a pretty new device(?).

Installed everything and tried vroot once again (I have tried it before).
Still not rooted. And btw that vroot at least tries to install bunch of bloatware crap on the pc.
Edit:
I would suggest for anyone who installed Vroot to your pc to scan the whole pc after you uninstall the vroot.
Here are the scanning tools:
Malwarebytes
adwcleaner
superantispyware
hitmanpro

I got a successful root by flashing Recovery.rar from lenovo-forums.ru, (it's easy to google, I'm not allowed to post links) with the included SPFlash Tool and afterwards flashing the needed SU binaryies and apk. However, this will mess up the OTA updates, and I can't find the stock recovery again.
Therefore, I really beg anyone having the stock recovery to post it, enabling us to switch between them, whenever we want to apply any OTAs.
Thanks a lot!

Well I very highly doubt that there will be any more updates for a device with this price range. And since the next android version is the L version, which requires more work than before.

I dont know what you two are trying to do but this thread is about rooting the lenovo A3500-FL not about lenovo stock rom.
Rooting..
Yes indeed, that's what I'm trying to do. Rooting the A3500-FL. According to the instructions you need to install the SuperSU from a zip on your SD card. When I try do that it gets interrupted every time. Installing recovery went well. So I'm not getting what I do wrong? Any ideas?

Then it starts installation, but aborts it in a few seconds. So am I booting to just a normal recovery mode and not CWM? (Sorry if all this seems totally ignorant, I have only flashed roms before, never rooted a new device)

Yup.. This is the problem. The recovery runs fine from Flash Tool and claims it installs it. (Download ok) But I still don't seem to have CWM on the device. It's just normal recovery mode. So any ideas about the CWM-installation? What could possibly go wrong? I get no error messages. Cheers.

LG G2 Stock Firmware (Go Back to Stock)
Just search that on here and download necessary files, flash, then use Stump for root and AutoRec for recovery.
---------- Post added at 09:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:45 AM ----------
...After you download your files, DELETE all existing driver files and reboot...THEN re-install your drivers.
To enter download mode for flash, simply hold the volume button up and plug in the usb.
GIVE IT MAYBE 10 min. to install if it doesn't immediately see your phone.
Solved
I tried this but i hadn't time to download a new rom. And had not the drivers too, but i finally fix the problem
I installed the drivers with the ADB driver and used the adb to push my zip file to the storage memory. I cant remember where i found the tutorial cause i did it in the morning. But i can search it again if needed
Thx for the help
next time, buy yourself a mini usb/otg stick (i.e. sandisk dual usb/otg stick)...
if you can enter twrp - just flash the rom from that otg memory stick... no computer or drivers needed...
ok, you need a computer to transfer the rom zip to the memory stick
cheers
After considerable pain I have rooted my VK810 5.02 and have Supersu.
Thanks to @Hnk1 and others for their posts. I tried them all several times and for several days without success. It just didn't work for my tablet. I also found the instructions to go back to 4.2.2 kind of confusing and difficult so I did not go down that route.
I start with unrooted Lollipop 5.0.2 (VK81035A_08.kdz and flashed with the LG Flash Tool 2014 (attached). Root with iRoot. Then download the Supersu-Me app from the Google play store and run it. Binaries will update and Kinguser is removed.
Here are the instructions:
Flash Unrooted Lollipop 5.0.2
1. Download LG Flash Tool 2014 and VK81035A_08.kdz from this post.
2 Unpack LG Flash Tool 2014 from zip file on your computer.
3. Put your VK810 into Download Mode (power off - Then press power button and volume down button the same time and plug in the usb cable that is connected to the computer) Your screen will show download mode.
4. On your computer, put the VK81035A_08.kdz file in the LG Flash Tool 2014 directory.
5. Run The flash tool.
a) In the first screen that pops up select the VK81035A_08.kdz where the app says "Select KDZ file"
b) Press "CSE Flash"
c) On the next screen just press "start"
d) Select "another country" and "English" on the next screen that pops up
e) Ignore any errors that say "server not found" The app is running properly.
You will now have unrooted 5.0.2
iRoot
1. Download and install iRoot on your computer.
2. On your table, enable Developer Tools by going to settings/about tablet/software info and tapping "Build number" 8 times.
3 Go into "Developer Tools" Toggle the on/off switch, and check "USB Debugging"
4. Go to "Security" under settings and enable "Unknown Sources"
5. Plug the USB cable in.
6. Run iRoot.
7. You'll get a pop up on your tablet having to do with USB debugging. check it and click ok.
8. retry iRoot. It should see the tablet. Let it run. it will install Daimon and some Chinese apps.
9. IRoot on your computer will show a "Root" Button. Click it. It will root your tablet using Kinguser.
10. Unplug your tablet when rooted.
Supersu-Me
1. Download and install Supersu-Me from the Google app store.
2. Install it on your tablet.
3. Open it and press the Big Button. Grant it root access (through Kinguser - it will ask you). It will run and tell you that it is removing KingUser and Installing Supersu. It will then ask you if you want to update the supersu binaries. Click "install" and then "normal"
4. You should get a "success"
5. Go to your apps page on the tablet and remove any remaining garbage Chinese apps.
Your done!

Thanks a lot for your contribution to the forum and writing it all down. Much appreciated.
Iroot gets flagged as malicious software by chrome when trying to download it.
I had taken the 35A OTA and had lost root. I didn't bother downloading and installing the kdz since I was already on 35A. It took me a couple of tries but this method worked and I am back to being rooted again. Thanks!

This worked flawlessly when I did CSE flash of the .KDZ, but I had trouble when I did a normal flash (so as not to lose my stuff). Ultimately, I did the CSE flash so I could start with a clean slate.
As soon as the tablet rebooted from the reflash (at the very first page of the setup screen) I went into the system settings menu (pull down the notification bar and tap on the settings icon) and allowed USB Debugging and plugged in the cable. This way, the tablet prompted me to allow ADB connections from my laptop BEFORE iROOT ran. I chose to do this because when iROOT first ran, I missed the prompt on the screen and the tablet disallowed ADB so iROOT wouldn't work. With the tablet still on the setup screen, I ran iROOT and let it reboot.
After the reboot, I was still at the setup screen so i skipped the email setup and used an extra Google account (to avoid it trying to restore all of my settings) to allow me to install SuperSUME from the Play Store. After it ran, installed SuperSU and updated the SU binaries and rebooted, I ran SuperSU and used the "Install SuperSU in /system" option from the settings menu. By doing this, I could do a system wipe from the settings menu to remove all of the Kinguser and iROOT crap without having to reinstall SuperSU from the Play store.
Once it rebooted one last time, I let setup run like it was supposed to, plugged in the charger, and let all of my settings and apps download themselves.
I hope this helps!

Try just leaving it sit for up to 20 or so minutes anyway. Don't touch any Windows dialogs except moving them out of your way, if necessary. Usually these kinds of problems just require patience and it'll resolve itself. Not always but very often.

Did you try not hitting retry, like I said just let everything sit and don't touch dialogs except to move them out of your way? Try the original USB cable? Try a different cable? Try a different USB port? Try rebooting the PC?
Can you try on a different PC?
Ignore anything we covered before. It's been a while and I'm too lazy to look back. ☺

I've gotten myself at least rooted finally. Just have to install TWRP now.
i had the same problem as chucklehead (getting stuck at 60%) with a dialog box saying it was disconnected.
I fixed it by installing the LG Drivers
After installing the drivers, windows will try to "Search Windows for Drivers Update", to which I skipped and got it to work.

I haven't had a problem, but I've only unmounted the Micro SD card once or twice. The ROM this thread references is only for the VK810.4G variant, and isn't compatible with your variant which I think you're talking about the V500, right? Just in case you thought it might.

Thanks for listening. It is my device is the V500. I will try to do what he said.
Already taking advantage of, you know if LG will launch the v5.1.1 version 8.3 gPAD?
This ROM (the topic) is only for V510? (if I downloaded wrong) since I installed it here first:

You're welcome. I'm not sure what you mean (doing what he said).
No, I haven't heard anything about any other updates for the G Pad 8.3, but it seems to be different update schedules for each variant anyway.
I'm pretty sure that link is for the V500; I think the V500 is the same as the international variant.

Which drivers did you use and where did you get them from?
I'm actually still screwed and can't get my tablet rooted again.

I've previously gotten the drivers which were v2.22 from Verizon's support page for the VK810, but it appears things have changed both there and on LG's support page. Now LG has a v4.02 driver here http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-LGVK810#softwareFirmware. I just installed it and plugged my tablet in and it loaded the driver just fine - I haven't tested with flashing or anything beyond just seeing the device in Device Manager.
I still have v2.22 around in case 4.0.2 doesn't work for some reason - let me know if you need it. It's kinda confusing since 2.22 just came out maybe two or so months ago. The same driver package was given for the VS985 LG G3 too: v2.22 for both before, and both now have 4.0.2.
Ok, here's what I think may be screwing me up completely here. If I'm wrong, please let me know....
I'm think my issues may be due to possibly having the wrong bootloader (aboot.img) flashed. A while back when I started this whole thing I followed the instructions regarding flashing the 4.2.2 aboot in order to do downgrade and root. Once I did all that I may have never installed the proper aboot. Is that possible? Reading through the Viktory ROM post I see the newest aboot is available to flash but since I don't have root (su access) I can't actually flash anything. I'm wondering if that's why I keep getting errors while trying to use the LG Flash Tool also. Maybe it can't actually flash because the wrong bootloader is present.
Sound like it makes sense??
Any chance I can fix that??
I can't even do a factory reset through the phone settings OR through stock recovery.
I get this error:

My ViKtory810 ROM already includes and flashes the right bootloader, which is 5.0.2, either the 35A or 36B aboot.img depending on which version of the ROM you installed. The only way you should be getting the secure boot error is if you had changed your bootloader version - although maybe it gives that same message when trying to get to TWRP and you still have the newer bootloader installed, I don't remember. Normally, you would re-downgrade the bootloader to 4.2.2 in order to, for example, get into TWRP - which at the very bottom of my ROM OP I note that you have to do just that to get into TWRP, and then from TWRP, once you're finished doing whatever you need to do in there, you have would have to reflash the proper bootloader (the 35A one if you have 35A ViKtoryROM installed, or the 36B one if you have 36B installed).
In my tests I've found that official 35A and 36B LG Lollipop for this device won't boot without the properly matched bootloader.
Could you clarify for me which things you can or can't get to? Can you boot the ROM? Can you get to TWRP? If you can boot the ROM and can't get to TWRP, that is because, as you said, you didn't flash SuperSU.zip from TWRP before booting ViKtoryROM, which is necessary in order to be able to re-downgrade the bootloader later in order to get back into TWRP when you want.
Can you get into Download mode? If you can get into Download mode, I've never come across an instance where using LG Flash Tool 2014 to flash a KDZ cared what bootloader, recovery or anything was installed.
First, install the drivers I linked to two posts back. Then reboot your PC. This isn't always necessary but it doesn't hurt anything and I've found that solved some driver installation problems for myself occasionally.
To get into Download mode, turn the tablet completely off. Wait for it to vibrate slightly as the screen goes black for several seconds before it actually fully shuts off, and it vibrates when it does so. Then, while holding the Up Volume button and having the USB cable plugged into your PC, plug the MicroUSB end of the cable into the tablet. Keep holding the Up Volume button until you see the faint "Download Mode" in the middle.
On your PC, open Device Manager and make sure you see the tablet listed under "Modems". If it's listed there then you're good. If it's the first time you've installed this particular driver version and first time you're plugging the tablet into the PC while in Download mode on the particular USB port you chose, it can take all the way up to 10 or 20 minutes to load the driver. That's extreme and again, doesn't always take that long, but it should be relatively obvious in Device Manager when it's fully loaded.
Once it is, then use LG Flash Tool 2014 to flash the 24B KDZ (or any KDZ 24B or older), then use the Stump apk in brute force mode to re-root the device, downgrade the bootloader to 4.2.2, install TWRP 2.7.0.1, upgrade TWRP to 2.8.7.0, then reflash ViKtoryROM810 36B and this time also flash the SuperSU.zip I link to in the ROM install instructions since once you reboot out of TWRP, you won't be able to get back into TWRP unless you use root from the running ROM to temporarily re-downgrade the bootloader.

First, I never actually flashed the Viktory ROM. I was going to but somehow lost root or couldn't get into TWRP first...which I thought was due to a bootloader flash mishap from another flash... so I tried to start from scratch but couldn't get Flash Tool to work. We had several back and forth posts regarding that. The drivers you posted didn't work for me so I hunted down ones after contacting LG. Those worked letting me actually use the Flash Tool and start from scratch which I subsequently rooted using the method here. Everything worked perfectly.
I'm now rooted but wary of even trying to install TWRP. I don't wish to go off-topic as my main problem has been solved already and I thank you for your help!!
We can discuss flashing TWRP elsewhere.
I tried to flash Blisspop 6.2 earlier and soft bricked my phone
Recovery (TWRP) + Download mode still there
I formatted my phone so there are no files on it whatoever, when i plug my phone in the USB port in my pc, it doesn't recognize it or does but as unknown device.
Installed LG USB Drivers so that's not the issue.
I went into Device Manager, and in ports the LGE port thingy is missing from there, installing LG driver only installs some unknown device which always fails to install properly.
What to do, please i need help badly...

Just flash back the Backup you made. It's always the first point in the "how to install" section. Without a proper backup you have to download Stock- or Custum-ROM grab an OTG-Stick an flash it via TWRP. No need to use a PC.

Thanks i guess i never make backups..
I'll try the OTG-Stick
UPDATE:
I didn't actually noticed that when my phone is plugged in when in TWRP recovery, it does recognize the phone not like in download mode which it refused to.
I simply moved then a flashable stock rom found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development-d802/rom-stock-30d-flashable-zip-t3070383
(Credits goes to somboons for the Flashable stock ROM)
and then i just flashed it, and now it worked.
Hey there and thanks for stopping by.
My Nexus 6p simply won't boot with any rom. I tried Chroma, Purenexus, CM. I'd like to flash stock now but it seems the bootloader just won't recognize my usb cable (wich is the stock one but displays message "Connect USB Data Cable").
I got Google Driver installed from SDK. So basically i get no connection through bootloader but under TWRP everything is fine. Is there anyway i could possibly flash stock through TWRP? Or how can i make the bootloader work?
I'm on twrp 3.0.0.1, EX kernel 1.18.
Huge thanks in advance for any help with this.
Fixed!
Despite the "Connect USB Data Cable" message, my device still saw my PC using Minimal ADB and Fastboot (with admin cmd prompt). I proceeded to manually flash one by one the stock files to my device and it worked flawlessly. I suspect my earlier format corrupted the EX kernel in some way although how, i don't know. Good luck to anyone bricking their device, that guide helped me a lot: http://www.androidtipsandhacks.com/root/twrp-the-complete-guide-to-using-recovery-on-android/
