kernel. if motivated he can work on G4 kernel. - G4 General

he says if he gets motivated.. doantion he could work on a kernel..
I will be honest with you, I have no motivation to work on a kernel for the G4.. the one I did for the V10 I put together in 2 hours.. it was really nothing..
I am very busy with my EAS kernel for my HTC10......... and I hate LG.... I will never buy another LG ever.........
if you can motivate me to do it, then I will. but man I do this on my time.. and I dont get paid to do anything.. and donations are next to NONE/ZERO .......
and I work my butt off.. not to mention all the people that kang my crap....................
now that you understand..
unfortunatelly i cant help donate.. for many reasons.. just wanted to share this.. would be nice if someone could work on llama kernel stock-CM.
if you are insterested then pm him.

But why do we need another kernel? XD I would consider that if he is skilled in porting G5 to G4(UX 5.0) or Nougat before LG releases it

I know but I'd rather have one great kernel than thousand good ones. I had such on my Galaxy S3 and I never had to switch to other one. G4 is low interest device and it has few kernels but every is really good. Right now I would go for Llama as it's well feature packed. The only thing I miss is proper G5 port nothing else

This. I think it's safe to assume that we're not getting any more updates, since they have far more profitable things to work on.
@OP Forget officials, go custom
I've contacted lg a few weeks ago and they said that the update will be out soon but i'm still waiting for that miracle! But costum roms are getting better and better, so I think that a little correction here and there will make that roms like mur4ik's, ... as good as the originals

Random Builds-AOSP

I've been messing around for a few days trying to get AOKP on my Moto X. Finally got it working. Thought I would share the build. It has been a while since I ran AOKP and I'm surprised to say that it isn't what it use to be...Anyway, here is the build. I still have some sepolicy stuff to sort through so it has the kernel from yesterdays cm nightly.
ROM~~~~> https://app.box.com/s/pdvjj7cikxhk6hg0087n
GAPPS~~~~> http://goo.im/devs/kxp/gapps/aokp-full_gapps-kk-20140211.zip
Check under your Google acct after setting things up and make sure you didnt get a sync error. If you do just uncheck then recheck everything. It will sync correctly. I havent encountered any bugs yet.
And It should work on ALL variants
Of course you do flash this at your own risk...

I was gonna try to get Moto X up to date in AOKP but doesn't look like there is any interest in AOKP anymore. Very unfortunate. I remember when AOKP was most peoples favorite :-/
AOKP used to be my favorite, it was awesome - loved the customization features. But I realized it was a little heavy and switched to slim as my new fav. But since I've been on the moto x I haven't felt the need to flash any roms (not that there were any available ). stock has been great and Xposed + gravity box solves all my customization desires and more!
I appreciate the effort though, I might give it a shot if I get bored. Thanks!
PS What did you mean when you said it isn't what it used to be? better or worse?
Aokp used to be bad. Ass I loved it but after ICS/job they dropped a lot of customization and its not really worth it for me I guess. I'd rather flash a cm bases rom these days. But still awesome you got aokp going!!
Sent from my Moto X using Tapatalk
I have to agree....it isn't disinterest in aokp, for the moto x anyway......its just I'd say the majority stay stock and use gravity box. So they don't lose their moto features.
Awesome tho that you brought it to this phone.

Sorry for ot.
I miss lots about the moto x....my wife has it now and loves it!! I just missed the busy development community and the freedom of a nexus. I got bored with my perfect moto x. Lol
Now I've discovered multirom.
Never need to wipe my daily driver and can flash ROMs left and right.
As far as comparison.... They're very comparable phones. The moto x is definitely my recommendation to almost everyone....UNLESS they like to play with the phone like us xda'ers do.....nothing beats a nexus for that.

Why would they make a rom that doesn't take advantage of the phone's best features?

There is not an AOSP based rom that has ANY of the stock Moto X features you refer to. Probably never will be. Active display can be downloaded from Play, I believe its called ACDisplay.
On another note. I've seen people discussing the speakerphone issue in other threads. FYI @dhacker29 fixed it and I have yet to see any other "bugs", in recent CM builds or this AOKP build.

G4 port 😂

In your opinion Do you think that we will get a port of the g4 ?
If yes , when do you think this will happen ?
Lg G4 review >> https://youtu.be/zqF7HsjVay4
Most likely after g3 gets the UX 4.0 update.
Which probably won't happen until 5.1 or 5.2 is released for the G3.. and with no release of 5.1 or 5.2 for the G2 (let's face it, even the 5.0 G2 release has been really awkward), we're out of luck.
If someone makes a custom rom...
I would pay for a port.
I'm thinking we can raise money and then if someone makes a port, we give this bounty to him. I think that there are online platforms that allow this kind of things.
I highly doubt it. A lot of the developers have vanished already, i would love it if we did though
Pretty sure we will see it ported on some korean/vietnamese forum
Sent from my LG-D802
It would be pretty awesome, but would it be possible? I mean, the G2 and G3 were seemingly pretty similar (Sorry, I'm not a developer) but the 808 with 64bit and much newer architecture, would it even be possible? Except if the G3 or G2 gets the update officially of course, but that is way into the future. Would love to hear some devs' take on this.
My plan is to get the actual G4. Not much development left on this awesome G2 device. I am still very happy rocking CM12.
Why? Let CloudyFA work on CloudyG3 and stop trying to trick yourself with interface tweaks....G4 interface on the G2 is utterly useless.
at least could the lg g4 camera app be ported to the g2?

besides completely different camera hardware on G2 & G4 (new & bigger sensor, F1.8 lens,...) - afaik - G4 uses different (newer) camera framework (or what's it called anyway)
so, every new "fancy" feature of G4 camera wouldn't have sense on G2...
xdabbeb explained it somewhere...
don't get me wrong - i wish i was wrong, and all of this would be possible - but i doubt it...
edit:
the only camera feature from G4 i'd like to have on G2 is the long exposure...
but again - with the G2's F2.4 aperture lens (much less light comes through than with F1.8 lens from G4 + the smaller G2 sensor) - the photos with even 1second "long" exposure would be noisy as hell...

Oh sweet, thanks for the info - I was getting discouraged that I'd bought this phone that I THOUGHT was going to be very mainstream/heavily developed and had no idea it would take so long before a legit "daily driver" custom ROM came out for it! I'm still missing some of the features I used to get from Xposed in earlier releases of Android. As long as I can turn off the camera shutter, disable the disabling of screenshots, have a good "privacy guard"/Ap Ops/Permissions manager don't have key features like the trackpad navigation (and a working camera!) missing all I need to really add is Ad Block. (I'd rather smash my phone with a hammer than be assaulted by tons of ads)
I'm on Xenon HD at the moment, I'll try switching to LineageOS tonight, or read the Xenon thread and see if they've rolled in the fixes...
Thanks! :good:

[Poll] Mido: Best ROM, (Best Kernel) ... What do you use as a daily driver?

As some options are missing I'll try to add them by listing them here. So answer to the thread to tell me that you use them.
Oreo Pixel Experience: 1
Oreo Ressurection Remix: 1
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hey guys,
what I'm trying to do here, is not to only gather some advice for me but for anyone else who is asking himself the same questions, especially newbies.
I hope this thread becomes a place of vivid discussion about recent ROMs (and Kernels), their pros and cons and also what you like most about them.
If it is running well like I'd imagine it, I'd as well collect all your information in the main post like experienced bugs and things alike.
So let me be the first one to share his infos.
I'm stuck now since dunno maybe September or so on AOSP Extended 4.6 and am pretty satisfied with it.
Using it with Arnav Gosain's Velvet Kernel 6.7 and Spectrum set on Balanced. Also am running Magisk and xposed with several modules.
Unfortunately I experience random reboots on a regular basis - maybe once or twice a day. But seems to only happen during idle, so it doesn't bother me too much.
I'm thinking about switching to an Oreo ROM and am curious about which one would be the best to choose.
So come on guys. Everyone's invited to take part in that little discussion.
P.S.: I know there are already several "Whats the best ROM"-threads but they seem to be meant only to serve single persons interest. That's what I definitely not want to achieve on here.
P.P.S.: Please tell me if you're favorite ROM is missing from the poll - I'll try to add it as soon as possible!
Looks like the Poll isn't editable afterwards. Too bad. So I hope I just have the most popular ROMs in the list..

I use default kernel settings for franco kernel with no problems. The rom comes with google framework like dialer, contacts, calender and google assistant works as well and preloaded Gapps. And for Google camera manually downloaded gcam apk and flashed camera2api from magisk to work and believe me the the HDR+ images are mind blowing.
