Hola
I love my my anime. I am, have been, on Lineage OS (v7.1.1) and the crunchyroll app does not playback any anime video. It simply shows a black screen.
Can someone who is still on the Nougat stock firmware please test if the crunchyroll app works to playback actual video. You do not have to be a subscribed user to check it out.
Crunchyroll support is saying that they built the Android app to work with stock firmware only. I believe that this is baloney because I was using the same app when Unjustified Dev gave us CyanogenMod 13.
I think the issue is related to any v7.1.1 ROM. Or if anyone has any suggestions on root cause I am willing to listen.
Thanks.
"So what you want me to do 'bout that?"
I have the same issue and I have been trying to figure out what is going on. I think you are right about it being 7.1.1 that only works. I have a OnePlus 3T and the only rom I have tried to use that works with it Freedom OS which is base don 7.0.0.
It is super annoying because I was previously using a ResurrectionRemix rom which was perfect for me, except Crunchyroll doesn't work and I always relax in bed at night watching some anime. Trying desperately to find a solution to this.
Good question on that one. Running the experimental official build and it's not working.
Works on stock firmware
Hola
Sigh, I don't know what now to do. There is an active thread about this issue in the crunchyroll forums, but no one from crunchyroll as provided any feedback from what I see. Direct support is useless.
I will try to get them to answer via twitter or other social networking sites. I see that Funimation is working without issue on v7.1.1.
Same problem here LG G5 Resurrection Remix. Crunchy wont play on phone
Same thing here on LineageOS (7.1.1) on my Moto Z. Could someone send me the link to the discussion on the CR forums? Can't find it
Has anyone here or in another forum tried to get a logcat to see if there's any errors or anything else that's useful?

Hola
I had opened a support ticket with Crunchyroll and they acknowledged that the issue exists and were actively working on a fix. There a number of forum threads on the issue on the Crunchyroll forums - Android section. Support could only say that a new update of their app will happen when the had a working fix, but until then, unless you are in the US, no feasible workaround exists. If you are in the US or willing to make use of a US proxy, you can sign up to their VRV.co sister site, add Crunchyroll as an existing premium link and use the VRV android app to browse and view their content.
The VRV.co workaround obviously requires a premium account and US IP to work. I have tested it and the experience was not as fluid as the native Crunchyroll app. Plus browsing through the shows doesn't seem to expose all of Crunchyroll's anime content.
"So what you want me to do 'bout that?"

HULU just announced that they now support both the TF101 and the prime. So you can now download the the App directly from Google Play. The Interface is much improved over the converted Xoom version we were lucky to have
Was excited until I installed it and got the message:
Required DRM not supported [93]
Your device does not seem to have support for the required DRM engine.
Please check that you have all the latest updates applied to your device and try again.
I am on AOKP 1.5 (haven't upgraded to 1.6 or 1.7 as it is so stable now).
Edited to fix typo
Trouble with new HULU App
Going back to the modified Xoom apk?
Never worked right for me (previously on Krakd 1.5.2), wouldn't show the list, just a big white area where the shows should be.
I am wondering if it is detecting root and not allowing it. Might have to see if any other tablets are having the same issue (the ones that were added today) and if anyone has resolved it.
Possible that AOKP isn't including that portion due to its very nature.
Read on another thread that it works on rooted stock. Hopefully one of our awesome developers can hack the app like the last one, or find the necessary libs from the stock ROM.
On EOS nightly-14, DRM not supported.. although the set up looks very nice, and just browsing around seems very smooth!

I should have noted, that I'm presently NOT rooted. Lost it on the ICS update, and haven't touched anything waiting for the re-boot cure. HULU app works fantastic!
I'm getting device not supported on lastest ota not rooted. Anyone else getting this?

Yup....still says Transformer TF101 not supported. APK anybody?
Two TFs on ics revolver 1.31, hulu works great on both. This was the only thing I have been waiting for on the TF... I'm a happier Guy now.

wow, must have been one of the lucky ones. running on rooted stock, and everything seems to be going well.
i've actually just started my hulu plus trial today. I'm trying to watch some naruto episodes (don't judge me) and the app doesn't seem to display any subtitiles (it's an anime, in japanese) ... is this just how the app works, or am i missing a setting?

Are we talking about regular Hulu or Hulu Plus? Hulu Plus has been supported all along IIRC. I've been waiting for support for a regular Hulu app.
Post the apk please.

I think the DRM issue has to deal with the adblock that is put in place by the ROM makers. I just switched from Revolver to AOKP and Hulu now no longer works. With Revolver's Spare Parts you can disable adblock. When it was enabled Hulu didn't work, when it was disabled...it did...Now that I am on AOKP adblock comes standard and there is no way to disable it in the settings. While I know enough to follow directions with scripting I don't know how to go about disabling adblock via script on my own, or if it is even possible. I pour over these forums all the time, but never had an opportunity to post anything since all of my would be posts would take place in the developer section. And since there is a 10 post minimum to post there I just continue reading until I find my answer. This situation is to new to have found a workaround for, and I thought I would come out of my shell and post about it. Any help or research into this subject would be fantastically appreciated and I look forward to posting on here time and time again!

I don't think the Ad Block is the primary issue. Revolver is based on the Asus firmware, right? The roms having problems are AOSP based. I'm running Team EOS at the moment (no ad blocking) and I still can't view in the Plus app. I think it has to do with missing libraries that the "supported" tablets have. Hopefully all it takes is someone more knowledgeable than I to pull them out (this is how we can get Polaris to work on AOSP roms).
Now if you go ahead and block ads, this will prevent viewing as well. Just as it does with the cracked version of Hulu Plus (old app).

Heya. Disabling most ad blocks are quite easy. Just open up a terminal using a Terminal Emulator and run the following commands:
su
rm /etc/hosts
echo "127.0.0.1 localhost" >> /etc/hosts
exit
exit
You have to reboot your tablet after doing this (to flush the DNS cache), but ads will be enabled then. If you want to re-enable adblock, I suggest grabbing AdAway from the Google Play Store, which will make enabling/disabling ads easier in the future.

Yeah I think you are correct, I thought about that after I posted it. That makes more sense than just adblocking.
Does anyone know where this required DRM stuff sits? Is it married into Adobe Flash, and we're missing a certain Flash version?
Anyone who hasn't rooted their Nexus 7 get Amazon Instant Video working on this? I root and try different rom's on my phone (SGS2) like crazy because I don't care about losing access to videos, etc. But I really want the Nexus 7 as a content delivery device and while I really would like the the tablet UI prime instant video would be a good enough reason not to root. Anyone have any luck?
There's already a thread about this.

i love posts like that, if you know there is one wy not post a link?
sorry op, i havent tried, and i havent seen the thread.
I haven't had much luck with Amazon prime video. I can get it to play in a window with dolphin hd and side installing flash. However, the browser crashes on full screen. The Amazon video app doesn't work at all for ics/jb regardless of root.
Questions go in the Q&A section
please search in the future, or just look around as there are at least 3-5 topics regarding amazon/flash.
The Amazon Video On Demand app will not work on ICS or JB.
you can install flash manually with the apk and then install an alternative browser (flash does not work in chrome) reports are that it will crash in fullscreen but aside from that it will work.
oh and seriously. USE SEARCH. 10+ topics about this now.

Works on mine, just had to side load the latest version of flash, then watch in Firefox browser, full screen works fine too.
So since my N7 doesn't have WAN connectivity, I'm trying to play with any/all apps that take advantage of anything wireless. I know there's the standard NFC, BT, WiFi apps, but I recently learned of this new thing called WiFi Direct. Does anyone know of any apps that use this new technology? I came across one which I posted about here, which I thought was really cool so i'm looking for other apps that use this kind of wireless P2P connectivity. Anyone know of anything else besides Tapestry?

Nothing? There's really only one app in the Android world that uses WiFi Direct? Either these guys are onto something or they're screwed!
Wi-Fi Direct is just beginning to get places, it seems. I know it's a feature that Miracast will utilize when it comes out in a few months, and most of "smart"/wifi tvs will be compatible with it.
But who knows?
-Ara
WiFi Direct is already supported in many connected TV's today...its just that CE companies do a poor job productizing it, and advertising it.
if you want to connect from android device to android device for transmitting media, check this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.budius.WiFiShoot
different from tapstry (that is a presentation app) WiFi Shoot is a direct share app, and works with ICS.
this was developed by yours truly, and I developed it exactly because I noticed there was nothing out there for WiFi Direct
I tested it between Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus, Asus TF300 and Galaxy SII (stock ICS) and all worked fine.
The most problematic of those were the Galaxy Nexus that not always want to connect, but between N7-GalaxySII was flawless.
At the moment the app just works for photo and video but I'll be expanding more, if you guys fancy helping spreading the word about it, I'm really looking forward to see the downloads explode on it.
Hi guys,
is anyone with interested in beta test my WiFi Direct app?
I started a new thread in the development section asking for Logcats if you're experiencing force close.
Also it's a cut down version of the .apk there to test part of the system.

any help will be great appreciated.
thanks.

can't wait to be able to share files, I like sideloading apk "not compatible" to my other devices and it's a pain uploading/downloading to device and sometimes the network is slow, so it's a hassle. hope this solves it, I have 5 devices I am testing this app currently.

I spent an hour or two a month ago trying to find out why Netflix doesn't work. What other folks were saying in various non-Glacier threads is that Netflix support depends on a specific type of HD graphics hardware support in the kernel. None of the kernels we have for the Glacier currently provide that support. Hopefully that will change when (if) a 3.0 kernel is successfully ported.

Thats NOT what he meant buddy. If you have ever been in this forum, you would note that question threads go in the QUESTION forum. People get pissed if you get messed up so consider this your ONLY warning because others probably won't be so "kind". Next time, ask your question in the right forum and i promise it will be properly answered.

Dear All,
I recently sold my wife's Ideapad K1 (Lenovo abandoned it and it was stuck in Honeycomb land forever) and am looking to buy a Nexus 10 for my wife. She mostly used her tablet for watching TV online, checking email and the normal stuff. I know that the Jellybean does not support Adobe Flash, which is what brings me to my question-
If I were to give one of you the name of one site, could you please see if it opens up on your Nexus 10 and whether you can watch the videos from the site on it? Since my wife watches videos from that site, it is important that I know that the site works on the tablet before I buy it.
Second question is - is there an easy way to get flash to work on Nexus 10?
Please let me know. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Chet
There are few answers to that.
1. Although flash doesn't work on jellybean there are few sites that still work. Also, majority of the sites have started using HTML5. So it should be fine.
2. If you're rooted, you can flash adobe flash player to get back flash. But I'm sure you're not gonna do that cuz if you buy the N10 you don't wanna mess with it the day you get it.
3. Get a video player from Play Store called MX player. You're videos should work.
4. What's the website? I'm on jellybean lemme look if it works.

Unless something has changed from 4.1.2 to 4.2 you don't need to root in order to get flash working. Can you not just find the app and sideload it. It should then work with compatible browsers like Boat and Firefox. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
You dont need to root to get flash working. Just side load the apk. Search google or search xda. Im sure there is a few flash apks roaming around. Also be sure to check Unknown device so it will actually allow you to download the apk tovyour device

Yes this is what i did to get flash to work, i searched XDA using google, i then installed the flash apk, then i downloaded Firefox beta, turned on plug ins and its as easy as that.

If you don't want to root you can try puffin browser. It loads the flash content on remote servers then send it back to your device. :highfive:
