Dear All,
I recently sold my wife's Ideapad K1 (Lenovo abandoned it and it was stuck in Honeycomb land forever) and am looking to buy a Nexus 10 for my wife. She mostly used her tablet for watching TV online, checking email and the normal stuff. I know that the Jellybean does not support Adobe Flash, which is what brings me to my question-
If I were to give one of you the name of one site, could you please see if it opens up on your Nexus 10 and whether you can watch the videos from the site on it? Since my wife watches videos from that site, it is important that I know that the site works on the tablet before I buy it.
Second question is - is there an easy way to get flash to work on Nexus 10?
Please let me know. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Chet
There are few answers to that.
1. Although flash doesn't work on jellybean there are few sites that still work. Also, majority of the sites have started using HTML5. So it should be fine.
2. If you're rooted, you can flash adobe flash player to get back flash. But I'm sure you're not gonna do that cuz if you buy the N10 you don't wanna mess with it the day you get it.
3. Get a video player from Play Store called MX player. You're videos should work.
4. What's the website? I'm on jellybean lemme look if it works.

D00mSlayer- thank you!
D00MSLAYER- Thank you for your reply. The website is in my native language (I am from India). It looks like all the videos on the website are basically Youtube based videos that are embedded on the website. This forum will not let me post a link to one of the videos from that site as yet on the forum. Can I PM you with the link?
Thank you so much for offering to do this!

Unless something has changed from 4.1.2 to 4.2 you don't need to root in order to get flash working. Can you not just find the app and sideload it. It should then work with compatible browsers like Boat and Firefox. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
You dont need to root to get flash working. Just side load the apk. Search google or search xda. Im sure there is a few flash apks roaming around. Also be sure to check Unknown device so it will actually allow you to download the apk tovyour device

Yes this is what i did to get flash to work, i searched XDA using google, i then installed the flash apk, then i downloaded Firefox beta, turned on plug ins and its as easy as that.
Thank you

Dear All,
Thank you so much for all the suggestions. It looks like getting Flash based videos to work on the Nexus 10 is not going to be a big deal. I think I am going to go ahead and make the purchase at this point.
Thanks again.

If you don't want to root you can try puffin browser. It loads the flash content on remote servers then send it back to your device. :highfive:

Sorry if the answer is obvious but I could nt find a definitive answer anywhere.
So is full flash experience with adobe 10.1 possible on HTC HERO. I have Darchdroid 2.8 running on mine.
thx
guys... theres like 15 other threads asking the same thing, and multiple posts within rom threads..
If you want flash in any kinda way (lite) you need to be running a sense_ui rom
For example both zenheroFX and zenEXP have flash.
Darchdroid, aosp and cm roms will not be able to run it.
Thanks for pointing that out. Really liked DD2.8 otherwise.
what are you guys doing that makes you want/need flash on a phone with a tiny screen? I really am curious, I cannot think of anything that I would want to do on a phone that requires flash. Are you trying to play face book flash games or something? Hulu could maybe be a use, but flash video barely works on an Atom running anything but windows, so it sure as hell isn't going to work on an ARM running android...
I am interested in some news websites that show live feed of tv channel. went to sprint's store and evo played it really well.
so flash video.... the evo is a much faster phone, also htc put a lot of effort into the version of flash that's on there.

Being that this dev community is the absolute best, I have to bring this to light.
Google Movie Support has just informed me that Google Movies will not work for rooted XOOMs. This just won't fly.
Is there anyone out there working on a fix or workaround for this?
I'd love root. I love movies. We shouldn't have to choose between the two.

I feel ya bro, and I'm pretty sure the devs are already looking into it. Since it is a DRM authorization issue, it is probably going to be a pretty good hack to get around it.
I'm confused by 2 things on this topic:
1) why does it matter if its rooted or not?
I would assume the answers is because root would allow us some magical privledge of copying a cache and possibly extracting video and then redistributing.
2) how the frig can it tell?

My guess is either one of: (1) checking for the ro.secure property being set, or (2) doing something "rootable", like being able to read a certain file/directory, etc.
If in the former case, I don't have an idea of what to do that wouldn't require the HC source, but in the case of the latter, it'd be relatively easy to ... wait- don't let me help El Goog out. It's not rocket science (think rootkit, but in reverse).
Well instead of listening I tried it as well with The Green Hornet and couldn't download it. Kept getting error but these developers will come up with the answers they have been nothing short of amazing when it comes to the Moto Xoom

Assuming scenario 2, wouldn't Super User prompt for permissions? I would think its likely.

This is the same with the blockbuster app on the Atrix. I can set SU to block requests from the app, but as long as I'm running rooted, it refuses to play (and tells you when you launch the app).
I don't understand the difference between this and running Itunes or Netflix on a "rooted" (admin capable) PC. Why is the phone different?

So did you still get charged for it? The wifi version won't even get the movies for awhile. I don't know why Google doesn't have it ready for both.
It isn't very surprising to hear. None of the major studios will allow media to be downloaded without some form of restrictive DRM and root access probably violates their policies.

Would make more sense for it to check if you're rooted before the transaction goes through.
Nice Google, what a great way to pit the development community against you, even though Android would be nothing without us. Sellout.
Strange, I have unlocked and rooted Nexus One and could play any Netflix video in official Netflix app, so DRM works on rooted system. So may be it's problem with something else?
If you order thru your web browser by going to the web based android market and play it thru your web browser it works.
Thanks for the tip on the browser market thing it works

Lol you're an idiot. It isn't googles fault they had to do this. If you were selling movies and wanted to make some money, would you want them to be distributed for free without your permission? I think not...
Anyone who hasn't rooted their Nexus 7 get Amazon Instant Video working on this? I root and try different rom's on my phone (SGS2) like crazy because I don't care about losing access to videos, etc. But I really want the Nexus 7 as a content delivery device and while I really would like the the tablet UI prime instant video would be a good enough reason not to root. Anyone have any luck?
There's already a thread about this.

sorry op, i havent tried, and i havent seen the thread.
I haven't had much luck with Amazon prime video. I can get it to play in a window with dolphin hd and side installing flash. However, the browser crashes on full screen. The Amazon video app doesn't work at all for ics/jb regardless of root.
Questions go in the Q&A section
please search in the future, or just look around as there are at least 3-5 topics regarding amazon/flash.
The Amazon Video On Demand app will not work on ICS or JB.
you can install flash manually with the apk and then install an alternative browser (flash does not work in chrome) reports are that it will crash in fullscreen but aside from that it will work.
oh and seriously. USE SEARCH. 10+ topics about this now.

Hi,
there is said to be a tablet version for 7" tablets.
Could someone of you install Flipboard and mail me the apk?
Thanks a lot!
(You can save the apk file with FileExpert for example)
I'm not aware of any tablet versions of Flipboard. Do you have any references?
I wrote them and they said they have a 7" version.
If you mean that the devs told you that directly, then they should also be able to tell you where to get it, and I'd imagine that they would make it available on the Play Store. I'm going to assume that you asked them something along the lines of "Is there a version of Flipboard for 7" tablets?" and they said yes, but what they really meant was that Flipboard works on 7" tablets and there's only one version.
I do not want to discuss this further.
If anyone has it, I would really appreciate if she/he could send it to me.
End of story
No discussion needed, just ask the dev again.... then u know for sure because I also think they misunderstood u....

Yeah I just tested it and it's portrait only at the moment. On the bright side--cool app! Never tried it before.
It looks like 7" is where they draw the line between phone and tablet currently and tablets arent supported yet. As a new user I cant post links here yet but if you go to the official flipboard support page and enter searchterm "tablet" you can see where i got this from and add your voice to the requests.
There is a workaround using some rotation control app but feel free to add to the thread asking for a tablet version.

Thnx Phoenix, yes i bought one today (wednesday delivery) and was surfing around clipping and downloading stuff. about the MOJO. This looks easy enough to use. Thank you for your work already done !
Still in doubt if i want android TV installed or CM as i bought also a android TV remote with it (not even sure if these work but i costs only $4). Love the shields laucher/desktop.
Got one also start play with it now .....look cool and fast.
thanks a lot OP. very helpful.
Excellent work and thanks, @Phoenix4848! Don't forget that there are alternative methods of flashing, and also other ROMs out there. I recommend setting up Fastboot just as a safety net; it can save your bacon if something goes wrong with Flashify. This XDA section is a gold mine of info on the MOJO, but you don't need that link, do you?

Thank you for the feedback. Yes I want to install Remix OS on a different mojo; I won't attempt that until I have Fastboot up.
I created the folder/link for a kodi box support group on fb. The procedure is simple enough for the average user and it's important mojo owners get rooted and SuperSU installed - there is a piece of ransomware that is targeting Android 4 devices. CM 12.1 is stable and user friendly - and it's android 5.1 which will run the newer versions of Kodi.
Adding it here was an afterthought.

Good thought, even if it was after. You don't need fastboot to install RemixOS, or any other one, but if your MOJO is soft-bricked and you can't get into TWRP recovery you can fastboot boot the recovery and flash from that. You can also fastboot flash the recovery. And BTW you do not necessarily need MoDaCo's fastboot, if you're set up for other Droids like I was you can use your existing fastboot setup. I find it easiest to do from Linux.
Yes, I like the Lollipop ROMs myself, a huge advance over KitKat (IMHO they shouldn't have bothered to release KK). And Marshmallow is even better, much to my amazement. I wish I had the extra time to learn to port ROMs myself, there'd be a MM ROM out for the MOJO about now!

Not a clue. But here's a couple things to try:
1) Call or e-mail Amazon tech support
2) Try a different ROM on the MOJO
Remix maybe?

Probably not a problem with the Mad Catz device probably a problem with the OS. Stock is Android 4.2, CM doesn't seem to work with every player. Remix works with more players but I don't know if it will work with Prime. I'll try later.

It really is isn't it? Once you get over the hurdle of flashing a decent ROM, you're set. Fantastic little gadget. I was very lucky to get it for £60 here in the UK. I don't think I've ever had emulation play so well on anything before.

I'm a Prime member but it'll be a couple weeks before I get a real chance to fiddle with it, so if nothing more comes up to prevent it, maybe I'll try it on CM12.1 then. Too many irons in the fire now...
Last year, there was a workaround to play Prime videos via the Dolphin Browser with flash activated. However, ever since Amazon Prime Video dropped Flash support, it's no longer working.
Prime was the reason I bought my first MOJO, ended up selling it when the the workaround stopped working. As of now, I use the (second) MOJO for Kodi and the Youtube App only.
It's truly a shame we can't use it for a service we pay for, especially when they claim on their website that all android systems (>4.0) are supported.
I haven't tried any other custom ROMS since the stock meets my needs for now(minus Prime Video). But please do let us know if it works on the custom ROM you try.

I just got Amazon Video working on the Remix ROM. No tricks, it just works.
Additional note Xposed also works on that ROM. And Paragon should offer NTFS support. I like Remix - next step get a HDD working.
