Tmobile invaded my browse - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I've been using the default browser on mty S7E which is very fast and impressive until now. No matter what I set my homepage to it keeps going to a tmobile site with a google search bar. Its kinda creepy. H9w can I get rid of it? Its odd that one day last week it just started doing this when I noticed the out of place pink T at the top of the browser.

Leo Impressions

Hi Guys, just thought id post my thoughts on the Leo.
Ive been using mine now for over 2 weeks having come from an N95(and several failed attempts at finding something I liked inbetween including various iphones, N97 etc etc) so to the thoughts.,
The screen for me was a bit tricky as many have said before, I have huge hands, but decided to persevere.
Has to be said that after about a 10 day period typing messages etc became much easier, after 2 weeks it was brilliant, but then came the eureka moment, which it has to be said was'nt good for me, but telling all the same.
After flashing the ROM, the typing experience became similar to a fair proportion of others on here, infuriating!
Now thinking logicly about it, I decided it couldn't be the screen as was fine before, only thing changed was the ROM, so was software, tried a screen align, hmmm, worse still, did it again, slightly better, but still no cigar, went and checked settings and set to how id had it before, no vibrate(seems to fubar typing), keyboard click on, screen click on, correct as you type on, complete words in both XT9 and ABC both on and did screen align again, now zoila, its better than before(after another screen align) no more false inputs although xt9 has to learn my vocab again(annoying) but it really is a revelation.
Now the only thing annoying me is the long sms list issue (although partialy sorted by selecting all messages and going in through WM)
Can I just add, absolutely epic site guys and thanks to all those that spend there own time making the WM experience better for all!!
Noooo! you've got it all wrong. You're supposed to try typing for 5 minutes, throw your toys out the pram and go buy an iPhone.. *then* come on to xda developers and post a nice long rant about how poor the entire phone / windows mobile is (bonus points for expletives and spelling mistakes).
Fixing problems in an intelligent, logical manner? whatever next?!
I just got my HTC HD2 from Royal Mail. Everything seems to be working flawlessly. The screen is just gorgeous and the navigation is really smooth and snappy. The videos online really do not do it justice.
I've just got a few of questions. I heard that Opera does not support flash, is this true? and will this change in the future?
I tried using IE to open youtube but it doesn't seem to play anything. It has the flash 9 logo and that's it. How do I play videos via the web browser?
Also, when I open up IE it says that it connects using my data plan and I may get charged. Does it not work over WiFi?
I'm just uploading files onto it right now but yes, this device has had my jaw on the floor since I opened the packaging. By far the best phone I have ever owned.

Opera doesn't support flash.
Use the You Tube app already on your handset, it works perfectly.
For playing videos within your browser, download the Skyfire browser for free. I don't like the interface and therefore only use it when I have to but it supports flash and you can play videos and surf for porn on it lol.
gamma500. looks like you still need to find the return key (aka as enter key) as this is the only thing missing in your message. Or did you type it on a PC keyboard, and is the return key (aka as enter key) broken?

I don't have the youtube app, where can I find it? I got my phone from T-Mobile UK if that helps. And I thought IE did support flash?

Opera doesn't support flash and IE only has 'flashlite' which isn't suitable for playing video. You will need to download Skyfire but the You Tube app will be in your start menu - press the icon at the top left of the screen or the windows button in the middle at the bottom - then scroll through the icons.

I don't have it pre-installed, is there somewhere I can get it? It's wierd that they didn't include it. Is anybody here on T-Mobile UK who has it pre-installed?
Dont have a HD2 ...yet! But from what I have read Youtube is not included on the T-Mobile handset.
Thanks Christonabike, personally don't see the merit in ranting, seldom effective in sorting issues and htc-hd2, in an effort to be cloggy friendly have inserted a few returns just for you!

Fantastic! Disabling the vibrate response was one of the best things I could do! I can actually type for long periods of time with little errors and the XT9 and ABC is working great now, I didn't realise it could learn... so have been typing in all of my Northern Irish phrases that we use over here!
I'm happy once again, I'm really starting to love this phone; was a bit doubtful at the start and was thinking my N95 8gb looked like a good option to go back to but my faith is growing in this device by the day!
Once again to OP, thanks!
It Just gets better with time Rossimac, which only became apparent after having flashed the ROM and thereby losing two weeks of it.

[Q] Adtrack.King Popup leading me to download Candy Crush from the Play Store

This might not be a Nexus 4 specific question but it's starting to bother me quite a bit.
A few days ago, I was browsing XDA on the Chrome Beta browser. I might have (not sure) accidentally tapped on an advertisement. It lead me to some URL that was related to adtrack.king that would popup, and then the Play Store would come up to get me to download Candy Crush. I've tried deleting the browsing data in the privacy settings of Chrome, as well as going into settings, then deleting all data from Chrome. It works for a bit but when I try to get back onto XDA, the popup happens again and again it tries to get me to download Candy Crush.
This link from the Google forums is an example of what happens. You can search on the internet and there have been many people complaining about this both on Android and iOS, but I have not been able to find a fix for it.
http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/EDJTbPaW5dg
For now it seems it only happens on XDA forums, but from reading up on the internet, it seems it appears with whatever forum that people originally get the issue from (ie. if someone got it from a car forum, it would be whenever they go on the car forum that the popup would occur).
EDIT: OK, I've noticed that it is specifically the page that I first experienced the issue that the popup ad will occur. I first experienced it on my phone when reading the dbrand skins thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095261&page=245) that the popup will occur. I start looking at any other XDA page and it won't happen but it's in that specific thread that it will happen. I'm starting to think this is linked with Chrome along with pages on a forum that a person will view.
EDIT #2: Here's a video of someone on an iPhone that experiences exactly the same thing. Only difference is that I'm on Android, and that it leads me to the Play Store to download the game.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGJhYq95IFo
This is the URL of the popup (DO NOT CLICK IT): http://adtrack.king.com/modules/adtracking/adclicked.jsp?type=ad&st1=hitfox&st2=candycrushsaga&st3=us$st4=&st5=aff_lsr&st6=102917ff4f43ecab466d8a83825d58&link=market://details?id=com.king.candycrushsaga
That popup will occur before Play Store opening up to Candy Crush
Does NO ONE else know what I'm talking about or something? Just throw "adtrack.king" into Google search and there's plenty of hits.
I got the same thing too, and I'm pretty sure I don't click any add while browsing

OK, I see in my initial post I said I accidentally tapped an app and that might have confused you guys, I meant I might have accidentally tapped an advertisement, not an app when browsing XDA. The popup is always to some adtrack.king thing and it leads to the Play Store opening trying to get me to download Candy Crush.

I'll try that out, but I feel like the problem will still be there, it's just blocking. In the sense that I think there's something wrong with the cookies but at least this does prevent the ad.
Has no one else seriously experienced this? I find PLENTY of Google hits but none with a solution for it. No, clearing cookies & browsing history does not fix it.
Open 2nd tab with any adress, close the aftrack-tab and restart your browser.

I have had the same problem on my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and this is how I solved it.
On your home page, tap on the symbol of two rectangles in the lower left corner, this will bring up several icons on the left side of the screen.
In my case, I found the Candy Crush icon, I noticed the word "network" beside the CC icon before I deleted it, (this identity may be different on your device) hold finger on icon, and tap "remove from list".
At the bottom left tap "task manager". This will bring up a list, select "downloaded". Find an icon on the right that has the same identity you noticed along with the CC icon before you removed it. When you find it , regardless of what app is associated with it, tap "uninstall".
In my case the app was a game my grandkids downloaded called "Plants vs Zombies".
After following the above, the Candy Crush item was gone when I started my device. This was three days ago and it hasn't occurred again.
Hope this helps.
I get it using aosp browser from this site... Also on my PC using opera, it asks to opena file called 'push' fairly often when opening an xda page
Just use file manager and try to find the ad and delete it or install appbrain ad dectector
from the google play store

stupid ad
i finally got rid of it! it was popping up each time someone would call me on my s3. the popup ad covered up accecpt/ deny with its own interface. tricking users to press on popups answer key which took you straight to candy crush game. luckily i had just pressed back each time it popped up. Today i missed a very important phonecall and i am sick of it! so, 1st i cleared all the data cache, cookies etc.. from all browsers I use . That didnt help.so, I just manually looked for shady apps installed from apks. i uninstalled nearly half of my apps . oh well. anyhow the culprit was a app called "MUZ" i have never used it before didnt even know it was there. as soon as i uninstalled that app popup went away immediately.
hope this helps anyone.
I downloaded OI File Manager and saw a folder named .adc and it had all of the jpg's and videos from the pop ups so I just deleted it from the person's GS3 that had the problem. I need more time to see if it is a long term solution but for now it looks as if it works.
Sent from my TMO GS4 via TapaTalk 2
anybody truly figure this out yet?
Idea
Yeah, I'm having the same problem.
I'm also thinking that we are looking at the problem incorrectly. Candy Crush Saga is just a red herring, the problem is having a link/page able to automatically launch the Play Store in the first place.
So I would submit that we need some way to modify the association to the "market://" protocol in Android itself.
I have this happen at LEAST once a day, and it's always annoying.
Anyone with MIME experience in Linux/Android that can point us at modifying this?
THANKYOU!

Stock Samsung Browser

I know a thread has been made about this before but theres has been no help for the force close issue im having. Is there a way to get the stock samsung browser on the Verizon S5? I like chrome but hate how it always refreshes pages and my girlfriend hates chrome all together. I know there are other browsers in the play but i want the samsung one. Any ideas?
When you say, "how it always refreshes pages" if you mean when you open a page, go to homescreen and open another app or simply have your screen off for a while and then go back to it and the pages refresh, using the stock one or any other one won't change that, thats just how it works, I don't know a solution and i appologize but i just thought i'd put that out there.

Hmm maybe I get lucky haha but the stock browser and dolphin never refresh at the rate chrome does for me. Sometimes I'd have 10 tabs open for over a day and open the pages no problem.

Facebook Scrolling Issue

Hi All,
Overall a happy S8+ owner, however i've noticed an issue while scrolling in facebook, which is becoming a real annoyance..
I'm not sure if it's some sort of fault or maybe a Facebook / Touchwiz bug,...
So when viewing a post on Facebook with any amount of comments that requires scrolling, using my thumb on my right hand as most probably do...
I'd say 65% of the time, when my thumb leaves the screen i get the option to 'copy, hide, report, cancel' as you would when you long hold on a post... it's really annoying. I've uninstalled - cleared Cache and Data etc with no success. It only 'seems' to occur on the Facebook app, but im not sure what other apps have a similar mechanism.
Anyone else experienced this?/
Cheers
Paul
Same issue here galaxy s8+ Not sure what is causing it. My roommate has a normal galaxy s8, and his facebook app looks completely different than mine and he does not have this issue.
Mine has been doing that since the latest update (ATT S8+ version). It almost seems like the touch sensitivity has been increased and is now too sensitive.
Facebook has been acting funky for about a month now. Is it almost like you're trying to scroll with Spider-Man's powers in overdrive?
I have the same issue on my Pixel XL. Been having it for a good week or even more. Probably has something to do with the app, not the phones.
same here, i blame facebook, they seem to employ monkeys in development. still can't understand how such a huge company sucks so bad at making a reliable app!
Thanks guys, at least now i know it's not just me... and that my thumb isn't defective...
I think it is the version of FB preinstalled on the S8. I know it is updated but it feels a little different to what I have on my Nexus 6P. Really annoying
Same here...and I think it's up to FB app, since it's only one with that problem.
Also, sometimes it won't open picture when I tap on it, but it acts as it's opened, can't do nothing on screen that i see...so I have to go step back (nothing happens on screen) once to continue scrolling FB wall...
Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
Try uninstalling the fb that comes stock on the phone and download straight from the play Store. This way it will be a slightly different variant of fb that is monitored and controlled by the play store and not the s8 built in fb manager
Yeah brother you're not the only one and it is very annoying!
Same here with Oppo R9s Plus.
Very annoying when I want a quiet reading but quick scrolling would cause accident react or like on some random comments.

Clunky scrolling on S8 but not S7

Hi there, wondering if anyone has experienced this issue. When i access this one web site,
www.live-footballontv.com
it takes forever to scroll up or down the page. It is very stuttery.
I just assumed it was some kind of coding issue so have persevered with it.
Anyway didn't have my phone to hand tonight so used my wife's s7 to look at this same page and it worked perfectly. Could swipe my finger up or down and page scrolled smoothly.
It only seems to happen on this one page, anyone any idea why it should work so poorly on the s8 as opposed to the s7. Both phones running Chrome. Thanks for any ideas.
I've just got a s8 and noticed on apps and web pages its so jittery its horrid to the point I'm sending it back not to mention the rubbish battery life , you can change animation scale to .05 in developer setting some say helps but can't say I've noticed much improvement also reduce screen to fhd+ rather than WQHD help battery a little but why should I have to compromise full potential of the screen to help save battery 3000mah on a WQHD display is just not sufficient even though virgin are sending me a new unit I'm still cancelling and going with the mate 20 pro or p20 pro , I don't think it's just my unit its just samsung lagwiz full stop,
Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
Yea if you shut of all 3 of the animation scales it helps a lot and makes almost any device feel faster
Can i ask anyone that has looked at this, have you clicked on the link and if so, how does the page scroll for you. I have checked my S8 and wifes S7 and settings in chrome seem to be the same, curious if it is just on my phone or all S8's, thank you.

No scrolling issues for me on the page /link you provided on my s8. Worked well both on chrome and the Samsung Internet browser
Well, after a bit more hunting about on line, i found someone mentioning lag etc. and said it was caused by a password manager they used (last pass) with a setting in accessibility.
Well, i happen to use True key to manage all of my passwords so looked in accessibility settings and there was a setting there allowing one touch sign in using True key.
I switched it off and went back to the web page and it works perfectly, infinite scrolling when you flick your finger on screen. I have absolutely no idea why this would interfere with this one web page as it is not even one that i log in to.
My issue is fixed but it bugged me not knowing why this particular setting would cause such an issue. Anyway, quick google search for "password manager, accessibility and lag" found the following page that explains the reason for it.
Thanks again to all for their input.
