What is stopping us from getting official TWRP support now when kernel source has been out for more than a month? Thanks!
None of the devs are actually willing to put in the time, I presume

whats the difference between the two maintainer and builder?
there are a lot of nougat roms but they are all not official...as far as i understand because there ie no maintainer. but there are builder. so whats the difference.
almost every s model including the minis have official nougat
Maintainer is a developer, somebody that actually knows programming and also has some experience with it. He or she is the one that fixes device specific bugs.
A builder is just that, somebody that builds the ROMs. Anyone can build a ROM, it doesn't require any programming knowledge.
And there are various guides on how to do it too, you only need a Linux system with decent performance, otherwise it might take some hours only to build one ROM zip.
The Maintainer job is purely a voluntary one. So somebody has to volunteer to become the Lineage maintainer for the S4. But this is not all. He or she also needs to be accepted by the Lineage team, because they don't just take anyone. You need some experience for it.
Another reason we have no official Nougat is because there are still some bugs (such as the reboot bug) and the Lineage team doesn't accept that from what I heard. Oh, and they want cleaner code too.
So yeah, I don't know if he will have any official Nougat any time soon, if ever.
But just because we don't have official Nougat doesn't mean we don't have developers. We still have some people that do some developing for the S4.
it has been how long since kernel source release, almost all xiaomi phones have official TWRP and ours not,why is that can someone tell me more?
All official TWRPs are handled by different persons (or mostly the same person), however not everyone has loads of freetime, everyone has their own life and issues
If you really want to get TWRP official faster, I suggest you to learn about how Android works, how to create device tree, and how to improve open source kernels
Or
You can also encourage the official maintainer by donating to him. Either works.
We all know it is not polite to ask for any ETA, but i saw multiple users asking about the current status of 9 0 ROM decelopment, can any developer of ANY ROM give us some information? Are they working on it? There is no development going on? Are they planning to? Thanks a lot!
Nick is working on Gzosp its stable according to testers. He is waiting for the approval of Gzosp team until the approval he cant release the rom.
Just wait patiently it will come out eventually...

Thank you, that's what i wanted to hear
This is a good question. So many times people jump allllll over someone thinking they are asking for ETA's and they are not. I have flashed the current Pie treble and every single time I get different results with apps not working, weird heat warnings, and reboots to recovery. I know the TWRP flashable roms will come sooner probably rather than later and am sure they will be awesome!
I see that it has root, but I don't see a single ROM for this model. Am I missing something?
I would also lika a Rom because lenovo wont be updateing the tablet anymore...
Lenovo is violating the GPL by not releasing the full kernel source code for this device. Without the kernel source it's hard to make custom ROMs.
If anyone is able to contact their support via email (I only have the address of their compliance department, email support is unavailable in my region) do request GPL sources and upload them somewhere if you get them.
I have emailed Lenovo several times and they did promise to release the source, but they never did.
Lenovo/Motorola, as well as most other OEMs, violate the GPL on a regular basis. Since violating the GPL has never (to my knowledge) resulted in any real punitive sanctions against an OEM, there exists no real incentive or motivation for manufacturers to release kernel source in any kind of timely fashion. Some OEMs (TCL is notorious) never release kernel source for their devices.
Official stock firmware for the TB-X704L is available here. https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=folder&id=27798
Full source code for the TB-X704L (including the kernel) is available from Lenovo's website here https://support.lenovo.com/cl/en/downloads/ds505957 for firmware version:
TB-X704L_S000056_181015_ROW
Can only agree, OEMs delay the release or do not release the open source code at all. I was surprised when Lenovo released the code for the X704F and L a month after I asked for it. In the German Lenovo Forum, there is a member of staff who is very committed to the customers, while in English none of Lenovo answers at all.
@jaybird779: Maybe you want to read this, maybe you can deal with it.

Hello... 'been using this phone for over a year now here is a clean build.prop from 6055B variant!
Also i'd like to help somehow, but I don't know how... I have zero Android dev experience (not really... last phone I ever modded was OT-918D *eons* ago, so it might as well be zero) but i'd be happy to test-drive anything as long as UI & RILd works.
I'll chime-in on Telegram too :good:

This will be the release thread for LineageOS 14.1
***LineageOS 14.1 Test Build for the 6055K is now live on Telegram with Download Link. Bluetooth and Camera aren't working yet***
If you want it to install on other variants, you will need to modify the installer script inside the zip. I'm not going to take the time to modify every Test Build to support every model. I'm running it on 6055U. If you do want to run it on another variant of 6055 and it's not installing, contact me on Telegram and I'll run you through how to modify the installer script to install on your device.
If you have anything to offer or just want to chat, you can find us here: https://t.me/Idol4Homies
Please don't report bugs here, we'd much rather you report any issues on our Telegram Group where the Dev will be able to see. I''m helping where I can and modifying little things but LimitedPython is doing the bulk of the Developing for this phone, please show your support and stop by the group to chat and say thanks.
5-13-2019- LOS 14.1 is currently booting to ADB but not posting yet. Sorting out some GPU issues and hopefully it'll be fully booting sometime this week.
5-14-2019- LOS 14.1 booting to OS. LTE Data and phone service works. Audio and most everything else is still broken currently but being worked on. If anybody has a clue what they are doing or how to help move this along to a public release, please join us on Telegram. I have a test image for people who can lend a hand but I'm not releasing anything publicly yet.
5-17-2019- LOS 14.1 working great so far. The only things not working at this point are Camera and BlueTooth, which hopefully will both be working very soon. I'll release a test build in the next day or so, so others can test. I'll be releasing TWRP and LOS 14.1 for the 6055U and 6055K variants. If you have another model you want supported from the 6055 line, PM me.
5-19-2019- This will work on every 6055 Model guys. That means 6055K, 6055B, 6055U, 6055R and 6055P will all work with this and future roms. No need to worry about "Bricking", as I have released Alcatel Stock Flashing software which will bring most, if not all the Alcatel Qualcomm devices back from the dead.
5-20-2019- Bluetooth fixed and working

I tried to go to your Telegram link for the LOS 14.1 6055U download, but it won't work. Idk why... Could you post a link to it here or something? Thanks in advance!
**scratch that I found it on the donate page**
Hello everyone.
I possess an Alcatel Idol 4 6055K, I would be very much interested in installing Lineage OS on this smartphone but I can't find any other source on the web on how to do it except for this thread.
I understand it should be possible with a release you're posting on Telegram, but if I click on the link it seems I can't acceed to the group.
Do you have any advice on how to try this OS on this marvellous phone?
So, no chance to ever see Lineage released for Alcatel Idol 4?

Yes, 14.1 has been out for a while now and 15.1 works too, I was told that a few days ago by the Dev. Come vist us on Telegram: https://t.me/Android_General_Chat
The Dev is in there and should be able to provide you download links for Los 14.1 or 15.1
We also still need donations as the Dev has lost his Idol 4 and needs a new one to continue making Idol 4 Fully Treble
