Hey guys, just a quick thread.
I think this phone needs more LB support. Has anyone even tried a bypass method for us with LB to be able to flash custom kernels? I know back when I had a Bell Motorola Atrix there was a hack that gave us the ability to unlock our bootloaders. Why aren't we trying to find one for this phone?
I understand that those with LB can't use the official method for unlocking the bootloader, but is there not a hack we could work towards? Has anyone even tried to unlock the LB Xperia Z2? There must be a way.
Besides that, I also think it would be good to have more LB support in android development. For example a CM11 that can be used on LB devices. I'm currently running Miui 4.4.4 and it supports both LB and UB.
Cheers

The best way to support LB is to have a rom version that uses the stock kernel. Hopefully this is what happens moving forward with the release of a sony lollipop update.

I think I saw from some other threads that the reason why we can't work towards unlocking non-unlockable bootloaders is because we need to break sony encryption or something like that?
I don't know, sorry.
We are at the peak of Locked Bootloader Support.
We cant do anything more unless someone wants to spend so much time to do so.
Cracking sonys bootloader encryption results essentialy in an unlocked bootloader hence thats somewhat pointless
We cant unlock a non unlockable Xperia unless as said the encryption is cracked
And sonys encryption is almost FBI level and it may even vary per Z2
Cm11/12 on locked bootloader is possible but its extremly complicated and setting up a rom like such on LB is complicated too
You have to root your device, install a custom kernel to the fotakernel given that its not bound by the bootloader then we have to make a modified rom which reboots the fotakernel then the custom rom that matches

Best to wait for OTA lollipop update then?
If it were standardized, say if CM11/12 took on the responsibility of releasing a LB rom, would it not make the process easier for everyone else?
Just do the same as me, sell the phone and buy another brand like motorola or something like that.
But nobody wants a Z2, hard to sell as hell.

Or just do your research and don't get a locked device.
Actually I think it shouldn't be too difficult to install cm11/12 on LB. There is a method which has worked now for some months on the Xperia SP which let you run any ROM on the stock kernel. I think these modified for LB ROMs load a custom ramdisk at a late point in the boot process. I'm not familiar with the way it works but I guess with some reasonable work amount it might be doable for the Z2 too. If someone is willing to try to port it pm me, I can provide you with the usernames of the people who made it on the XSP.

The easiest way is to change your phone to an unlock BL allowed: yes one.
If it was easy to run custom kernels on a LB , having an UB or LB would be practically the same...
I also have an unlockable phone, but it's my own fault for not researching better before buying the phone. i never had sony phones before, i should have researched more. Since the security of the z2 is very high i'm not expecting to run customs kernels anytime soon, if i ever need it it'll try to sell my phone and buy an unlocked one...

So what about this? Why not just give it a shot for CM11/12?
As I said previously I'm currently running Miui on 4.4.4 and it gives you an option for locked or unlocked bootloader in the Aroma installer.

miui is stock based hence why it works on LB
Its extremly hard to get any custom kernel to run on a device to have it work on LB as said its pointless bugging people about it.

Oliver and letama are rhe ones behind CM10 for Xperia S
Is far as i know they have a smaller custom kernel in /system Most of the rom uses the stock kernel i think.

I think 42 years of brute force testing is how long it should take i thinm.
Unless someone can get a lucky catch.
Hah, well hopefully people support LB by including a stock kernel version for all roms (especially with release of official lollipop stock kernel --soon?--).
Firmware change (htc one m9+)
Hi! I heard that HTC ONE M9+ will be relased in ITALY...
But I have imported it by Hong Kong...
Will be possible to change the firmware?
Maybe with a RUU?
Thanks in advance!

I don't think so. It's actually more of an HTC device which happens to use Mediatek SoC. It's highly customized to HTC's spec. It's not just an iteration of Mediatek's turnkey solution, like almost all other Chinese minor brands.

The reason I'm creating the cleanslate rom is to offer an easy way to update Chinese imported phones. That only needs the usual unlock and custom recovery, which are present.
The more complicated part is when you want to go back to ota.
But of course, I'm just trying to provide what fits in my schedule, and what I use myself everyday. So my stuff is just a possible choice to go with updates instead of ota, like I'd do with other phones custom roms. Admittedly I don't do much customization in the rom I cook, no time for that, but with xposed and sense toolbox working I don't see much reason to reinvent the wheel
I'm guessing we might see some more choices soon, as the phone gets into more countries, and devs might start to buy it.
Still my bet is aosp won't happen too soon with a mediatek chip, but who knows, maybe some talented devs with lots of lots of time might even try that

Dont try to flash the kdz, you will brick your device.......................... I never said anything about flashing the kdz................
I learned a long time ago in my G3 days, Kernel deving which I still do for the HTC10 now, but the LG Korean Editions are the same hardware that the T-Mobile Editions use...........
Look on this thread for when I ported the Korean MM rom over before it was released for T-Mobile.......................
When you work with enough kernels like I do, and you should know the kernel is the main part for hardware controlling, you get to understand your device and any device that pertains to it,
The defconfig for the G3 f400 was a perfect match to the defconfig of the G3 D851 -T-Mobile, except F400 had one exra part that didnt make much of a dif........
Out of the 9 variants that LG Put out for the G3 only 1 device came close to the D851 T-Mobile, and that was the f400 Korean edition................
Now do you understand how I know this? Unless LG changed something to keep it from booting on anything other then the intended device, It should boot on our device with the proper extracting and fix
ups.............
Do not flash the KDZ, you will brick your device....................................................... Only 2 parts of that whole KDZ can be used.. and thats boot and system ................
and system has to have some modifications done to it, or playstore will keep crashing.............................
I went though all this on the MM port as well.......... took me 2 days to figure out what it was............................
When I ported the MM over to the T-Mobile Edition, I ran it for 4 days with a few testers, on the 4th day I released it to the public, 45 mins later t-mobile tweeted they are releasing MM that day............
So I know LG/T-Mobile troll this Forum.......... maybe not as much anymore since v20 is surpassed the v10 ..
thank you eliminator for the explanation. i was completely lost and almost bricked my phone.
Could you please mention clearly that flashing KDZ files on DIFFERENT VARIANTS will BRICK DEVICE
It is most important.
THANKS

It is NOT to be used as a finished product.
This is not a rom lol.ive tried booting this using system and boot.of course it didnt work.probably need the 7.0 bootloader too.it doesnt get past lg splash screen.
My kids LG Stylo 2 Plus got Nougat before my V10. Shame
man..... I love the V10 so much I just don't think it got enough public attention to be in enough peoples hands like Devs who could get a bunch of working and stable ROMs. Kinda sad really when this phone is really underrated.

not to mention you have to have the correct version............ I only tested 1 of the Korean roms to prove it works on our device.......
I have thought about messing with this.. but I have no desire really to do it...............

No one needs to hack on this. In a few months time the builds for our versions of the V10 will be released and then hopefully we can use dirty cow to root them the same as we did marshmallow.

I guess it may be too early to know, but does anyone know if the boot loader will be unlockable on the US version? I know it doesn't release until mid July. I'm contemplating this because I like the looks and even the specs (I don't need the latest and greatest processor). The copper colored one on Amazon looks fantastic.
I think this thread is important. Keeping an eye on it. Would consider a purchase if unlockable. It would be a ****ty move to not unlock it. They could sell more phones if unlockable
