Hi there everyone!
I enjoy and am grateful for all the work that all the devs have contributed towards the Stock and AOSP roms for this device. That being said, I'm wondering if it is possible to get HD Recording @ 24Bits on those types of roms (AOSP). All the apps on the play store usually only show 16bit and don't allow for a 192 kHz recording. Is the recording ability linked to the LG Framework on stock?
-Thanks for your time. :good:

Do the MOD works on MIUI Rom? (Is it CM based?)
Just remembering, I'm talking about the PLAYBACK, I, actually, don't care about the 720p recording... Just need the 720p playback.
Thanks,
K.
720p playback is enabled by default on miui (yes it is cm7 based). That patch isnt required.
Although playback isnt that great. Its pretty laggy
There is a way to play it without lag?
(Actually, i tried to play it before on the MIUI ROM, I thought that it don't play 720p because of the lag, hahaha )
You can reduce lag by:
1) overclocking to 1.1 or 1.2 ghz and set scaling to performance
2) get a better sdcard (higher class)

My Defy can play 720p videos encoded with MPEG4 codec very well yøµ ju$t need to keep the bit rate low below 2mbps
Hi.
I am an owner of a Motorola Defy (MB525) with installed CyanogenMod 7.1.0-11
I would like to know how can I enable the recording in 720p without causing any damage to the device.
thanks
P.S. This is the link where I got the Cyanogen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654
P.S.2. I've already look through the different Thread without any success.
The CM7 doesn't support 720p recording, that functionality isn't released yet, and never will be on CM7, not in the Froyo Kernel based... i read that Quarx is working on that on the GB Kernel, with the time, will have 720p recording...
But you can improve camera quality herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030603

For 720p recording you can try ms2ginger 2.1 rom. Use LG camera pro and high bit rate, the video quality with 720p is too good. Also with ms2g the standby consumption is very good, for every 2.5-3 hours 1% consumption for me. with cm7 and roms based off cm7, idle time consumption is 1% for every 45mins. :-(. May be with all AOSP projects it is like that.
Hi!
I have a question about 720p also, but i didn't want to start new thread.
So i wnat to ask, if SOC module is capable of recording 720p? Somewhere i read that SOC module is not worse than BAYER, just the drivers of it are not written so good. So somehow can it be possible?
the lens is capable of capturing video at full resolution(15fps), 1080p (30fps), 720p (60fps).
But as i understand moto hasnt been able to implement the drivers to make it work. Since the camera uses proprietary drivers, we cant do much about it.
Even in the best case scenario we could probably get 720p (30fps) and not more as we are limited by cpu and gpu
Hi i'm new to developing and modding but a long time user of android. I've looked absolutly EVERYWHERE on this site for a camera mod for ICS 4.0.4 (ROM tiger 2.4) (KERNEL devil3_0.74). I have seen it for GB and FY but none for ICS why is this? so i would like to ask the great people of this forum to point me in the right direction if possible? i'm unsure if this is the right thread? if it's not please tell me where to repost it, any help is muchly appreciated.
So what i'm looking for is a camera hack that will increase video bitrate from 10mbps to 20-24mbsp (if possible, i'm sure it is as hardware is more than capable?) and recording audio in videos from 64kbps to 192kbps (more if possible but i know for sure that 192kbps is an easy accomplishment (sorry for spelling) for this hardware)
as i said ANY help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Haven't heard of any video mods yet, but for audio I can point you towards voodo sound (e.g. in semaphore kernel). Don't think you can change the bitrate, but you can configure the audio chip to oversample the input signal and also the microphone gain.
Just report back if you found something regarding video
There is a thread in android development called "hack i9000 camera i9000 FROYO &GB" check it out you'll understand. I've been working on making and moddifying my own source but its harder than I thought. I know its possible to change samplerate on the camera directly from 16000 to 44100 and the bitrate from 64kbps too 192kbps, and the video quality should be able to 17-24 mbps bitrate as the hardware can decode and encode 1080p so there is no limit at what we can achieve in 720p quality (I've done my reasearch). But I'm only a begginer (noob) at modifying files and development ATM. If anyone could move this to the DEV section I would be very greatfull. Cheers for the reply =D.

tried it, but audio same as default camera, even after setting it to higher quality!
When I had Xperia X8, I change video and sound bitrate by editing media_profiles.xml
I've tried that also - same result, default low quality audio.

My i337 is recording video at variable framerates depending on the lighting of the environment. For example, if I record a video indoors, the framerate drops significantly to 16 or 17 FPS. As soon as I point the camera to a window, the framerate then goes up to 30 FPS. I've never had any phone do that. I've analyzed videos from my Captivate, Atrix, S2, S3, and Note 2 and they all maintain 30 FPS throughout the entire duration of each video. My S4 is dropping the framerate in the middle of recording and can be clearly seen on the screen during the recording and even worse on the computer. When the FPS drops, the video quality is significantly worse than my Captivate videos ever were.
I have tested the following ROMs:
1 - CM 10.2 2013-09-17 nightly
2 - CM 10.1 RC2
3 - Kangabean Google Edition
4 - task650 AOKP
5 - Goldeneye (TW)
Of the tested ROMs, Goldeneye was the only one able to record videos at a constant 30 FPS. All the other ROMs were unable to keep the FPS up. This leads me to think that it is a software issue. I know the whole TW vs AOSP camera deal, but every phone I've had at least maintained the basic capability of taking pictures and recording video with an AOSP ROM. I should be able to use CM 10.2 and record 1080p, 30 FPS videos as well. I want to do everything I can to stay away from TW ROMs. Is there a way to install something like a driver for the camera to work on AOSP ROMs? What do you suggest?
Sounds like a aosp issue for sure. If I was you I'd get a logcat of when you are recording a video so the logcat writes out what's going on and create a ticket issue for cm team to try and fix this bug.

I too have come across this variable frame rate issue after installing a GPE based ROM.
Any solutions found? I hope it doesn't require going back to a TW ROM. :crying:
Thanks.
Whats the bitrate set for stable realse seven on the unifed build? Can it be increased at all or is their already an option to. The question being is my coworker wants to have his video recording at best possible quality. Im having trouble finding this information on whathe slimrom camera and video recording app is like on samsung devices.
Edited in my sleepyness it auto corrected bitrate to nitrate..
