I download the packacke via OTA and restart device. Then it boots to TWRP. I have to reboot device again and it goes back 6.0.1 with failed update notification. My deivice is unroot and still lock bootloader. Is there anyone having the same issue with me? And possible way to fix?
Thanks

You have to restore stock B29 recovery. You can't accept an OTA with TWRP.

It still fails. After restarting device it boots into installing screen with miFavor logo instead of TWRP. The processing bar runs to about 24% then stops to reboot. I notice that the log at bottom screen say mismatch. And I got message system update package does not match the phone.

You have to install it in stock recovery. Put it on your FAT32 sdcard and then in stock recovery select "Apply update from sdcard".

Sorry, you can't sd upgrade
I think you have to enable OEM unlock in developer options, first. Then, you can install B29 via SDCard.

Thanks. I forgot to unzip the file and put it in the root of sd card and I have done what you said too. It is running installation now.
I'm failing now? I went from ZAD v.3 back to stock B29 (I have an unlocked bootloader). I do have the MiFavor recovery (not TWRP)
I got the notification there was an upgrade, it took 6 hours to download... but the update "failed". I tried applying the update via SD card, but I get about 32% in and says "Update failed"......It also lists "Status 8" and "system partition has unexpected contents".
Sounds like y'all are having a hell of a time between the slow OTA speeds and then getting it to actually flash.
So I think I'll hold off for now. Hopefully we can get some TWRP-flashable zips soon enough... I think DrakenFX is already busy with all that
You guys are making this way too complicated.
The full B29 firmware will flash just fine with twrp.
Only OTA *updates* require the stock recovery. The difference is the update patches existing files while the full firmware contains full partition images.
Be aware if you download the full b29 firmware from zte, it will also replace your recovery and bootloader. You won't be able to flash recovery from the bootloader/fastboot screen then. Also, it wipes all your data.
DrakenFX put out a modified version of the full firmware file which doesn't modify the bootloader. I believe it also leaves the recovery intact.
After flashing official A2017U B29 firmware from ZTE the signal network service is lost. I ignore this and continue to upgrade to Nougat successfully and I get lost signal. I notice that Dual Sim Setting is working. Does official firmware overwrite original chinese baseband/bootstack? Can someone please upload chinese baseband/bootstack A2017 please?

No more complicated than it's turned out to be....
I followed DrakenFX's guide to B29 stock... The Nougat OTA downloaded, in 6 hours, but failed. So, I tried the SD card method, and it also failed at 32%.
Not sure what else I can do? Just wait for DrakenFX to make ZAD v.4 is my plan for now since I already wasted about 11 hours trying to upgrade today, and another 3 restoring back 6.0.1 and all my apps.

No problem upgrading using the OTA on an sdcard here. Flashed the draken stock_system zip, then fastboot flashed the B29 stock recovery. Reboot to recovery (which is now stock) and update from sd card. If you've messed with other partitions, you may need to flash more B29 .img's.

Does anyone know how I can update when having TWRP installed and rooted ?
The phone says there is an update but doesnt install.
So I used yotaflasher to download the new firmware and took the recovery.img from the folder
and flashed via fastboot the stock recovery.img.
But the phone always says there is an update and reboots. then the green android is displayed but only for five seconds. then it boots and says again that there is an update and if I want to install it.
And so on...
Do I have another chance to update my 5.0 Firmware.
I don´t want to lose my apps and userDAta.
Can I still flash with yotaflasher and NOT lose all my settings and updates ?
Thanks in advance.
yotaflasher
is what I used. I was rooted, but still with stock recovery.
yotaflasher writes all partitions, and asks for user data. if you answer no all apps and settings are preserved.
maybe there is still the update file in /firmware ? try deleting.
good luck,
Stefan

The easiest way was to download yotaflasher, let it load the latest firmware and boot your mobile phone into bootloader mode (via quickboot app).
Connect your phone, then let yotaflasher flash the new firmware but say "NO" to overwriting UserData.
Thats it...
After all was setup again (and rooted) I reflashed TWRP and made a backup.

Hi guys
What is the least troublesome way of getting to 7.1.1 rooted/twrp from 6.0 rooted/xposed/unlocked/twrp installed ?
I'm willing to wipe, and would really just like a flashable zip but don't see any.
I'm not that familiar with update.zip's , but it seems like that might be the long way around, is to wipe system, apply the update.zip from ZTE and then accept the latest OTA? I don't know if that overwrites TWRP or whether an update.zip will even apply over TWRP ... ?
thanks for any advice

I don't know if you can get to 7.1.1 yet, but you can get to 7.0. I think you might have to wipe, and XPosed isn't availible for Nougat quite yet. The OTA update from ZTE won't work because your phone doesn't have the stock signature. Most stock ROMs you flash will take away TWRP and replace it with the stock recovery.

Hi!
I'm looking for a way to either root/twrp v1.2.0b02 (coming from stock files), or a way to apply the ota on a twrp'd/rooted v1.2.0b01.
I have tried this guide without luck starting from the point where the tool tries to flash twrp. when the phone tried to reboot into bootloader it just rebooted to the system.
With this guide i can't apply B02 as i get a mismatch error (forgot what the actual message was called).
any ideas?
thanks in advance!
edit: further information: i am currently on 7.1.1 b01 with unlocked-BL/twrp/root thanks to this guide, BUUUT i can not update from that to b02.
when i flash stock recovery and try to update via ota i get a "package mismatch" error during the update installation process while in the (stock-) recovery.

If yes, just flash stock recovery with axon7tool and update your system in the usual way. If done, flash back TWRP and supersu. Done.

Hello,
I'm on A2017GV1.2.0B02, and I'd like to root it.
I have installed adb and axon7toolkit, but it seems there's no stock recovery anymore since 7.x firmware. So when I issue adb edl reboot, the phone is just rebooting the OS. :/
Which steps must I follow for rooting my stock A2017GV1.2.0B02 ?
Thanks.

the command to edl is: adb reboot edl.
To boot into recovery it's just power + vol+ button.
But since nougat you cannot boot into bootloader anymore. This would be necessary to unlock the bootloader. Therefore you would have to follow the steps I already mentioned in this thread.

B01 is what? Android 7.0 or 7.1.1? If you are already on 7.1.1 you don't have to flash anything. You will receive the update to B02 OTA. Otherwise you have to follow the official steps to get where you want to be. Described a lot on xda.

you need to go back to stock recovery, aply update from system, wait for process and then, reboot edl, and reflash recovery.
then from recovery root

My stuff was for reinstalling TWRP on an unlocked phone after Nougat deleted it.
You should try axon7toolkit and see if that does the stuff. Another way around would be to downgrade your phone to B10 (Marshmallow) via MiFavor's update by sd thingy, (i'm not 100% sure if it lets you get to mm from nougat, but it's definitely worth a shot) then trying the BL unlock thread (NOT mine!)

You'll always get that mismatch regarding what you do or try. You'll need a custom made twrp flashable zip. Tron1 and I have tried to make one but no success. We will try to make a full flashable zip based on the full image.
Even if you flash your stock recovery back and do the OTA, you'll always get a mismatch regardless what others might say.

Question: If I install a full stock zip, does it overwrite:
Boot stack? <- Yes if from stock recovery / ? if from TWRP
Fastboot? <- Yes if from stock recovery / No if from TWRP
Recovery? <- Yes if from stock recovery / Yes if from TWRP
I've flashed a full stock zip and fastboot. just want to make sure I don't need to also flash stock bootstack for RMA purposes.

If you want to RMA your phone, flash an official zip through the official recovery. Those overwrite the bootstack, the recovery and the bootloader. Or use MiFlash. But I wouldn't risk locking the bootloader with not everything fully stock...
After flashing the official zip use axon7toolkit to relock.
I followed this process and I locked my phone.

I'll download the latest Official Zip form ZTE and flash it officially just to make sure.

I have been able to download OTAs and update this way.
But when I try to flash a Stock update.zip either from SD card or internal storage it gives me an error about not being able to mount the SD card.
Will the OTA updates also overwrite to boot stack?

The phone downloaded the OTA for B19 and was able to run the update. How does ZTE check for a phone having been modified? Are there some steps or commands that can be run to check before sending it in? Should I just reflash the B19 full stock from Miflash to be sure everything is back to stock?

From what I know, in order to get the ota your bootloader needs to be the stock one, but I could not find it outside of full kdz packages.
I have not rooted yet waiting for this specific update (given the security fixes).
I would suggest you to backup all of your apps and settings with an app like Titanium Backup, flash stock, install the ota, reinstall TWRP, root and magisk and then restore apps and settings from the backup

maybe, for getting OTA should we just get unroot? How to do it properly?
If recovery is not the stock one, it will not be possible to install the OTA.
Alternatively you might need to wait for someone to make a flashable zip you could flash with TWRP, but given the fact development on this phone is not too active you might need to wait for a while before is available

I was also planning on flashing the complete 21c zip so that I could take the 21d OTA. Glad to know that might not work.
Anyone know if it would be possible to install just the stock 21c recovery image? It's my understanding that having a custom recovery installed is what makes the OTA installation fail. If TWRP is what's getting in the way of installing the OTA, wouldn't replacing TWRP with stock recovery solve the problem without touching the system? If anyone who knows more about this stuff than me could chime in, I'd appreciate it.

First I flashed the magisk uninstaller and rebooted back to recovery. Then I flashed the 21c COMPLETE ZIP and didn't flash magisk so it would replace TWRP with the stock recovery on reboot. Then I rebooted and when I tried to update it went to the stock and threw up an error then rebooted. Upon reboot it displayed a message saying that I couldn't update because my device had been rooted. So I rebooted back in to bootloader and flashed TWRP again. Then I flashed 21a COMPLETE ZIP and no magisk so that the stock recovery would replace TWRP. I rebooted and went through setup and took OTA updates until I was on 21d. Then rebooted back into bootloader and flashed TWRP. Then rooted and we've through setup. I tried every other way but this was the only way that worked for me. I hope it helps!
should be an easier way. Did u see some changes to the radio?
Some of you may remember that last year I had the misfortune of installing the Brightpoint ROM on my Unlocked G5, which completely messed the phone up by not allowing it to connect to AT&T's LTE. It was a process to re-flash the older ROMs/Bootloader and then rebuild it to a stable 21c. I had used it for a while like that, and the only problem I had was that when ending a voice call (HSPA) it would take a while to change back to LTE.
I ended up going with the S8 over the summer (Samsung discount + Note 2 trade in) which got it for $18/month. I've been using it ever since and the LTE to HSPA Voice to LTE change-off on the S8 is done within a second, unlike the G5.
My mom had been using an unlocked Samsung S5 for almost a year now, and it's constantly dropping calls, and this past week it froze on her and required a battery pull, so was thinking of having her try out my (unused) G5 to see if she liked it more. When I turned the G5 on today, I updated all the apps, and then installed the 21d OTA update. The hand-off from voice to LTE still is not as fast as my S8, but seems to be improved from the 21c firmware.
ROM Posted
Just to let you all know, I have posted the latest 21d stock ROM in my thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/stock-21c-roms-flashable-zips-imgs-t3679907
Hi. After 21d received my phone starts to rebbot when I try to play music on phone. No matter if this is stock player or google music. After self reboot music plays normally but if I click pause and wait until first stand by mode, the problem returns. Want to ask you guys to check if you have the same problem or I should download full version of 21d and check if the problem still exists. Thanks.
