Unusable phone due to a huge lag - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
last week I've started having some serious issues with my phone. I wouldn't say it lags, it freezes for 10 to 15 seconds at a time and then it's smooth and fast again but it does it every minute or so and it also freezes with screen turned off, so I have to remove battery almost every time. First I thought that some app may be doing it so I did factory reset but it didn't help. Even though I was on stock I thought I would try some custom ROM to fix the lag but after flashing... the same story, so I reverted it back to stock. Only solution I've managed to find was to remove simcard and sd card but it didn't work for me either. Any idea how to fix it or do you think, that it's hardware problem? I have SM-N910F with android 6.0.1

SGS acting weird - screen turning on and off repeatedly

My cousins SGS is having some issues. Last night the battery died, since then the following problem has arisen. The screen turns on for one second then turns off for one second then turns on for one second and so on repeatedly. Even when the phone is locked. No new apps have been installed. We have cleared the RAM. Turned the phone off and removed the battery for a few minutes and re-inserted, but still hasn't solved the problem. Factory reset still hasn't fixed it.
Will flashing to another rom eg Doc, potentially solve the problem? She doesnt really want to send it back to Samsung as it will result in the phone gone for a month or so.
She is running the stock DTJG4 rom (Australian 2.1), no lag fixes, not rooted.
Any ideas?
Bump. Anyone? Could it be a hardware issue?
yikes.. i think its a hardware problem... but just in any case try reflashing with odin to confirm this..

[Q] S4 I9505 keeps rebooting

Hi guys,
I have a galxy S4 I9505.
After the lollipop update a while ago my device kept rebooting 10 min after the update and became extremely hot after a couple of reboots.
After a factory reset the problem was gone for two weeks and then came back.
I did a factory reset again and and now, 10 days later, it's back.
Now I'm doing a factory reset while writing this post, but it is becoming pretty annoying.
Anyone knows what the issue could be and how to solve it?
Some info:
Not using any microSD card.
Tried different battery any apps. I was still with Touchwiz and the default apps.
Tried to only wipe cache partition
Device is not rooted and never was.
Warranty is expired.
Well, if it is getting too hot then that might be one reason.
Since you don't have any warranty you might want to try a custom rom.
If you're a touchwiz fan then go for the touchwiz roms.

I'm not a Touchwiz fan. I'm actually using Nova launcher for quite some time
But I left everything as it was just to make sure no apps or launchers are causing the reboots.
It's really weird cuz it just starts rebooting out of nothing.
Last time the phone was on the table then I heard the startup sound.
Btw, after the reboot it doesn't ask for a SIM PIN. It stays on for 5-10 seconds and reboots again.
I might try a custom ROM indead. But if that doesn't help I don't really know what to do else

I guess that's a hot reboot or soft reboot. They are both the same. It doesn't turn the phone off completely. It just restarts the OS I guess.

Note 4 (T-Mobile) Lag, Freeze, Crashes, Restarts.

This is my first post on this forum. I searched around here for a solution, didn't really find one matching my problem. I am not a phone wizard or anything like that either. So I'll try my best explaining my problem.
First things first:
Phone: Note 4
Model #: SM-N910T
Android Version: 5.1.1
Rom: Stock Rom
Rooted: Rooted Once and used a custom Stock T Mobile Rom Once.
Here's the ROM I used at the time: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...10tuvu1cog2-debloated-deodexed-stock-t3175406
Recently I So recently my phone out of the blue started lagging, freezing, and restarting itself. I didn't download any applications or anything like that for it to freeze up. I was currently then on the custom ROM I have mentioned above and it was the updated version. I have tried everything to my knowledge to try and fix the problem. I have tried going back to stock T mobile ROM (currently on stock rom now) through odin and stuff. After all that, it was still lagging, freezing, and restarting etc... Ran it through safe mode and the only problem in safe mode is that the lag is gone, but the restart is still there. Running in safe mode, if I would turn the screen off and back on to unlock my phone, there would be like 40% chance that it would restart after unlocking the phone and the phone would just restart normally. Rarely, whenever my phone would attempt to restart.. I would get a "Could not boot normally" message along with couples codes below and the image of android guy. Then I would have to take my battery out and attempt to restart the phone once again.. I've wiped the cache and everything in recovery mode, nothing helps at all. Also, the phone is in perfect condition. Hasn't been dropped, cracked, no water damage, or anything like that.
This place is my only hope to fix my phone before I will go out to buy another phone from the carrier.
Thank you all for taking your time to help me
u r not alone

Well I already got rid of my note 4 unfortunately before anyone could help me here so I had to upgrade my phone to note 5 and return note 4. While I still had my note 4, I realized something weird. While the phone was lagging and crashing etc.. When I had it plugged in for charge it would work perfectly fine. No lag, it wouldn't freeze up or restart (had it running perfect for 7 hours). It was like my phone was brand new again. As soon as I unplugged it from the charger, few minutes in and it was back to restarting and all that. I never knew why it did that.
Anyone know why this mightve happened?
Might be the battery though
I thought that too. I tried my brothers note 4 battery for awhile and it worked for a little bit and then it started doing the same thing even on his battery. Shrugs.

In the COH update iteration there is an annoying bug that affect fingerprint.
The bug causing the phone to restart, lagging & closing all apps randomly when the fingerprint is set.
May be this one is also the same.
Try to disable all fingerprint related settings.

I never used finger print scanning on my Note 4. Always disabled.

Note4 boots into download mode.

So, here is my problem. I've got an almost four years old Note4. I flashed some custom ROM's after i bought it but then I found an old X-note 4.4.4 based custom ROM and i was using that for more than 2 years. Yesterday around noon i noticed that if I try to use Viber, it takes seconds till it opens, and lags badly. (Before that the phone was working perfectly for years). I deleted it, reinstalled, but the problem stayed the same. After a few hours all the other apps started to do the same, the phone became really laggy. As time went by it got worse and worse, around 8pm it started to freeze, reboot, became almost completely useless. I thought maybe a factory reset and a new flash would help. I did a factory reset, and flashed a completely stock ROM on it. It started well, was working good for an hour or so, and then the same problems occured again. Lag, freeze, reboot.... And then nothing. Did not even restart. I can switch it on every now and then, (like in every 20 minutes), but it boots into odin mode. I thought maybe the battery, but that is less then 2 months old. Anyone any idea what happened? I mean the phone is almost 4 years old, so I'm not really pissed off, the only reason why I wanna keep using the Note4 cuz it's removable battery. I don't like phones with built-in battery, this is why i did not upgrade to Note8 for instance. Any help would be much appreciated. By the way, my device is an SM-N910F.
Well, things got even weirder later. I found my old battery which i replaced 2 months ago, still had some juice in it, i put it in, and the phone started!!! Worked perfectly, for about an hour and a bit, then the same problems occured again, lag freeze reboot, and now it boots itself into recovery if i can start it up at all... All the same story. Anyway, i threw it in the drawer and bought a new phone.

nexus 4 randomally shuts off?

have an old nexus 4 i wanted to try fixing a few issues with so i could keep using it as a backup phone.
It likes to sometimes not wake up from stand by. i'll go to use it and the screen won't wake up and it is hard to get to reboot but eventually does then works fine for a bit then repeat. Sometimes even when the battery is fully charged i could go to sleep one night wake up in the morning and it's like it just randomally shut down and is sometimes hard to start other times not, but always has to fresh boot.
not sure what the issue is.
i have re flashed OEM roms in the past to try and fix the issue, and ofc it just updates to 5.1.1
>< all help appreciated.
probably battery issue

It's probably battery. Does the phone shut down on charge?
I have same issue and I don't think that it's something wrong with the battery, because I already changed the battery and nexus 4 still freezes sometimes. And it's looks like freeze, not regular shuted down phone, because it's hard to wake up after that happens.
I read somewhere that this may be issue with internal memory, but I'm not sure about it.

Had same issue running on stock 5.1.1 or something like this. Shut downs, reboot, frozen screen, donĀ“t wake up, start problems, networking complete breakdowns.......installed Lineage 15.1 official and no such issues so far.
So it might be Android related.
So best thing, unlock bootloader by Nexustoolkit, flash latest custom recovery TWRP (you have to flash an older version first, if not having TWRP allready) and then install Lineage 15.1 official. Use instructions provided by XDA. It might be dropped, but it runs great.
