Speakers Crackling - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I am now on my 2nd axon 7 after returning my previous one for the same issue. The issue is that my speakers frequently crackle/pop when I play music at high volume levels or bass heavy songs. It happens mostly on the top 4 volume levels and is more noticeable with certain songs. I also played the same songs on my brothers moto X pure and it didn't have any crackling.
This is the perfect phone for me apart from this issue so I want to know a few things.
1. Is anyone else having this issue?
2. Is this a hardware or software issue?
3. Can flashing arise or viper fix this?

I have this issue, except as far as I can tell, it is only on my top speaker. Mine is an Australian A2017G Axon 7 Quartz Grey. Currently waiting for a reply from R&D as they are on their Chinese New Year holiday. Not sure if its a software or hardware issue. Haven't tried flashing a A.R.I.S.E/VIPER so not sure if that could solve the issue, however if its just over-gain on the speakers, you could possibly just lower it. But yeah I haven't played around with it. Don't want to do anything till I get a response back from R&D.

Same here, but just the bottom one
Really annoying..

I thought mine was due to over-gain but I've noticed that it still happens on lower volumes too so I think its a hardware issue. However, I also noticed that theres crackling over bluetooth too so that's software. When you get a reply let me know what they say.

[INFO] To all who own a transformer..

Hey everyone,
Just received my Transformer today. Overall the hardware/software quality of the unit is pretty good.
HOWEVER, I'm a bit bugged by the issue with the sound/speakers where the audio is louder on the right speaker than the left. The sound balance is quite off.
Anybody else experiencing this issue? I've read a review a month ago regarding this and the reviewer references this problem as well, just wanted to see how many other people (if any) are exeperiencing this.
Thanks!
I actually noticed the same thing today, but thought it was the song I was listening to. Probably will be resolved with software update.
speaker only or does this happen with earphones too?

Just ran a test and its only an issue with the speakers.
Wasn't this fixed with the latest update? Or am I thinking something else? :/
It seems most people have this issue and I'm hoping it will get dealt with in a future firmware update.

To my knowledge it wasn't.
I think I really lucked out with my unit. I received it yesterday and after reading the reports from other lucky owners throughout the week I was really worried. However both my speakers play perfectly. And the screen has very little lightbleed on LCD test at max brightness.

Bought new Lg gpad 8.3 My story!

Dear all,
I just Bought the Lg G pad 8.3, 5 days ago and want to tell you my story i faced.
I just purchased and i was too excited for its screen, light weight and good specs.. But when i bought within 2 days without installing many apps i got Over heating issues with watching you tube. my tab used to restart with a msg that its over heating and needs to restart. Even i was not able to move my brightness of screen to its max level. Then finally i thought to order a replacement. and after 3 days i went back and Replaced it with other one. New of course. and this time again my bad luck the hearing issue still exits but not as bad as earlier also speaker sound comes disturbing there is kind of glitches and sound is not good in full volume...
I don't know if anyone else here is facing over heating problem? or other issues or its only me??
Do shoot your stories and comments here..
Thanks,
Sounds like you are having bad luck. While there are some shortcomings on the unit mine has been solid and my main complaint is purely the screen gama issues. I'm hoping someone can inject a fix into a customer kernel like they did for the V510

Ditto. Never had any overheating problem.
Mine gets warm after an hour or two of straight gameplay but not watching a movie.exchange it again.
I had no idea they even shown an Overheating Msg.. Maybe you should try a different Vendor if you have that option.. Try to get one from another batch.. Are you also saying you have speaker issues with the stock LG ROM? In most cases, it's the loudest speaker option without adding something like Viper..

May I ask you.. Where are you purchasing your G-Pads from?
This is the screenshot of the error i got in my last tab (Sorry its in Chinese) ..It says that I cant turn the brightness to full because of high temperature of tab...

What I like, and don't like - and you may agree?

I've had my Mocha Mate 9 4gb 64gb since Thursday so been playing quite heavily all weekend.
I'd say I'm a heavy user BTW!
Battery - its on 80% today after 7 hours, and last night was 40% when I retired. As the battery will get stronger on the next few days this will be a killer battery and easily last 1 day plus. Charges very quickly.
Size - Its HUGE! I have big hands and you need to juggle it on occasion. However it makes it so much more usable.
Screen - lovely. Great colours and detail.
Camera - WOW. Just wow. I am now selling my Sony digital. Just wish there were some obvious settings to set where the pics get saved to etc.
Speakers - not bad but I don't believe there are 2 in the bottom...
Fingerprint sensor - rocket fast! I use my phone in my left hand so its easy to set up, but in trying to set up for right handed use I kept hitting the power button by mistake and eventually gave up. This might be a problem for lefties who use the phone in their right hand.
A couple of times I've opened apps and the on screen menu buttons have not appeared. This makes it quite difficult to switch between apps with this bug.
Also plugging in a USB cable to transfer in pics from my laptop has resulted in the connection hanging. Its fine on my Oneplus3 so assume a bug. Good job it has a removable SD card!!
Phone manager keeps popping up (in the notification area) referring to power hungry apps but it doesn't seem to let me cancel these notifications permanently.
Another gripe is the notifications (as mentioned elsewhere). It gives you a total number but not the actual app icons to show what the notifications are! This is probably the worst thing about the mate 9.
Smart lock Trusted Places/location isn't available as Huawei in their wisdom decided to remove one of the great android features!
Google Play Music appears to have lost the equaliser in android 7! I've reverted to Captune and Poweramp.
A few tweaks to fw would make this awesome. I'm loving it - shame theres no s pen (ex note 7 user still in mourning).
I bought it in the UK from MYGSM.ME and had it from dubai on 4th day. Pretty good. I also like the included snap on case.
Hope this helps with anyone thinking of buying.
Only one speaker (right) works but you'll find some audio via the top earpiece too. But it's very quiet in comparison.

True, i hope they crank the volume up a tad in the next update
Notifications should be fixed on the final build. It's still pre-release software on retail devices for some reason.
Hopefully improvements to camera and audio as well.
hey mate did you get a tracking code from mygsm? I also bought from them last Thurs and haven't received one. Can't wait to get my hands on mine , also got the same colour
thanks
Defo agree with all the things you've mentioned. Can't wait for the notification and other bugs to be fixed.
Really liking this phone so far!
Btw I'm on Build B110. Is this a pre-release build?

Me too.
Loving every bit of this phone. Have 2 major issues:
1. Notifications are a disaster! Why Huawei tried to reinvent notifications in android is beyond me. This is my first Huawei phone so not sure if its been like this always or mate 9 is special. I have to enable each app individually to show notifcations in the lock screen and even then its very unpredictable. The top notification bar only shows the number of notifications rather than showing the apps icons. Anyway, i hope this gets fixed soon.
2. This one I haven't seen anyone else complaining but maybe its not serious enough for others. When i am using the phones, it sometimes does not register my tap and i have to tap again. I see the problem gets worse when tapping something close to the edges of the display. Not sure if its some sort of Huawei technology to avoid accidental taps by your palm when holding the phone in one hand and try to reach far ends of the display, but its driving me insane.
Anybody else with these issues?
Apart from these, its the best Android phone I've ever used. My last one was galaxy s7 edge, just to give everyone a perspective.
Cheers,
Hi, I recognize the taping problem and it's very annoying. Clearly software related; lets hope it's fixed now with the new firmware.
Yes same problem here, but I think it's a software problem. I can draw with my knuckles in the edge areas with low sensibility.

have you tried enabling touches on the dev settings? Might be worth doing that to see whether the screen is responding as it might indicate a screen problem over a software problem.

Absolutely! And it drives me insane too! X( I am barely able to write a text. I also tried few different keyboards, just in case. But the problem seems to be the touchscreen itself This and the okayish battery life (with Huawei Watch and Gear Fit2 connected) are major deal breakers for me. It's just not worth that much money... To make matters worse, one could buy a S7 Edge for the same price! And that is one of the best phones I ever had -_-

I already now have OnePlus 3T in my other pocket and using them side by side. I might just switch over to Oneplus if Huawei keeps on delaying the release of a GA firmware. That'd be pity because i really really liked the phone and its camera.
Im also facing a similar problem with touch response and im wondering if a replacement will fix the issue...
My main problem is it's nearly impossible to touch icons or arrows on the top right corner right under the notification bar

Do you feel its a software issue (some icons don't have proper touch mapping) or digitizer is faulty?
yes i am also having trouble registering key press specifically on the number 1 or alphabet q on the keyboard.
if this is unfixable by firmware update I might sell and go back to samsung

MiA1 or Nah?

Hey guys. I've been toying with the thought of buying the MiA1 or the Redmi 5 Plus. Redmi 5 Plus has an 18:9 Screen to body ratio and larger battery, but only has single camera and Micro USB. I'd like to hear your opinions first since this would be my daily driver for the foreseeable future. So does the odds go to the MiA1 or can the shortcomings of the Redmi 5 Plus be justified by its Pros?
I would definitly buy the A1 again, awesome phone and I don't have anything to complain for.
Don't listen to these retards saying xiaomi is a **** company for not releasing the kernel source yet, they will, but probably also around the same time they release oreo in january.
I can't say anything about the redmi 5, but stock android > miui

Personally I would like to try MIUI but again, there might come a ROM with MIUI in the future though so I don't mind. Thanks for the thought.
I would not buy the A1 again. No Oreo (which was released in August), hardware problems like the horrible hissing from the earphones, lots of bloatware and spyware from Xiaomi preinstalled, etc.
Pictures look really bad too, so don't think the double camera is any good.

I haven't found any more hardware problems. The hissing is present in all phones, it probably is a motherboard design error (which they simply didn't care about, because I'm sure they noticed it).

There are 3 A1s in my family, and none of them has any hissing sound from headphones. I use Skullcandy ink'd headphones. They aren't exactly "premium" but they offer very good quality and works great with miA1.

Cheap earphones have cheap cables which a high impedance which means the noise is not audible because it is "cut off". That's one of many reasons why cheap earphones sound bad.
I use good earphones and the noise is audible and really annoying.

I have a few earphones here and they all have the noise. Sennheiser (forgot the model), Apple Earbuds, and also Xiaomi Piston and Xiaomi Pro HD.
I would buy it again as well. Except the hissing noise and night/low light photography (both can be solved though) I have no complaints. It's really an improvement to my previous phone Nexus 5X.
I don't experience any of these problems mentioned here.
Sure, Xiaomi has like 3-4 apps preinstalled, however, just uninstall them and you are good to go.
Also I'd rather have a stable oreo release than a bugged one which renders my device unusable.
These guys think, that the developers just have to turn a switch and we magically have a stable ROM.
Also, if you guys have sound issues, buy some decent earphones then, I have Shure SE215 and even they are good enough to not experience any of the problems

My boy , the hissing is, according to me , due to the high output of 10v. I get the same hissing in 3 of my laptops. I once used some Sony headset (pretty heavy , The one which DJ's use) no hissing. Probably in Oreo they'll fix it with there own Mi music thing in the settings.
I have Sennheiser CX 275s and no hissing sound.

Google released the beta sources of Oreo so OEMs could update their phones in March, six months later (September) they released this phone, and then three months later (December) we still don't have Oreo.
Does it take time to update a phone? Definitely. Does it take nine fucá Žking months? No. I'm putting the blame where it is.
Its about ur preference.. Seeing the speed at which developments going, its clear xiaomi has only set very less number of developers for working on this phone.. If u r dreaming of a bug free stock os, stay away.. Experience till now is poor.. Atleast Miui will hav more developer attention..
It seems the reviews are doctored a lot by Mi.. None of the reviewers till now mentioned the contacts are not being linked automatically.. almost 4 months, and still no change.. And they have a great online marketing team.. Seeing the rude reaction of Mi fans in Miui forum & xda when issues are pointed out..
Wait till oreo update is out.. See if the bugs are solved.. Then buy..
The hardware is great.. Just ruined by buggy os & slow pace of development.. Dont buy expecting a google product..
OP, ask urself what you want and need. If you'd like to avoid issue like certain owners probably like the following example, then avoid. If you're one of those *****es who would start whinging why updates haven't been released on time. AVOID!!!
I'm pretty sure many companies didn't release thing on time, and completely bug free. E.g Microsoft, Apple so on ...

Thanks for the input. Thing is both the MiA1 and RM5+ have similar hardware aside from camera and USB port. If I were to ask though, is the Type C really that advantageous over the MicroUSB? Gotta admit the 18:9 ratio is tempting me though, but more importantly I want to have a durable midrange phone that I can use for quite a long time.

Galaxy Buds: issues!!?

The Galaxy Buds fortunately came for free with my S10+, otherwise I will regret buying them, are crap, when doing a Whatsapp call one of them stop working and I need to put them in box, close it, and connect again. A pair of buds that costs more than US$100 that has this terrible behavior, terrible.
Sambug is going from worse to much worse, they are selling buggy stuff... (the s10+ deep battery not working well... and so on)
UPDATE 2 (4-APR-2019): The ASCA firmware update seems or made a positive change, now I have much less skipping and interruptions, I will continue trading this Buds but the connection really improved with the latest S10+ firmware

I've had this happen only once, other than that the headphones have been working very well and I use them daily. Got the headphones on March 6th along with my phone so I've used them for a while. I've had no problems with phone calls, video playback or music with these.

It's probably because the bluetooth settings for the buds are configured lower on the S10. It's a weird problem, but if you want, try looking either at the bluetooth settings or the gear settings for volume control. Otherwise, turn on Dolby Atmos sound; it boosts sound levels.
I'm very picky and I love mine. Best BT wireless yet for me and they crank with nice bass with Dolby atmos on... dont know why some peeps are hating on them....there is a lot of issues in general with PIE and Whatsapp.... crapapp glad I dont use it lol

The old app in my note9 had an additional volume control so even if the phone was all the way up there was still some additional gain to be had. But in the s10+ app, it's not there. I wish mine were a bit louder too.

Have had them for over a week or so, no issues with disconnects nor Whatsapp. Works perfectly fine.
Great buds. Just wish they were a little louder
I'm surprised by the bad experiences with these. I've had mine since last Friday. So far, I've had no issues with the battery life being crap or disconnecting. In fact, I've had the opposite. Battery life been very solid and they immediately connect to my s10+ seemingly as soon as I lift them out of the case.
Sound quality is also very good.
Now, would I spend $150 on them? No...but that being said, you'd be very hard pressed to see me spend anywhere near that kind of money on ANY headphones.
I guess it's entirely possible that some got a bad batch or something...

Mine work great

I can't figure out why my Buds are loud when played on my Note 8 and S8+, but I can barely hear them on my S10+. I have the volume rocker all the way to the right.

After reading online the buds are to be set in the gear wearable app : EQ, parameters, configuration, etc.
I got mine today and after 2 tryouts have considered selling them as 1/ I have issue to wear/adjust properly in the my ears (hard to go thru the canal), 2/ the sound quality seems worse than my Jays not needing charging (worse than my previous klipsch) and they came in white.. like the silicon case they offered me for the delivery delays that came in.. black.. .. for a green S10+...
Indeed, volume is natively less with the buds I had to go max compared to the Jays (but I didn't take the time to open samsung gear/weatable)
They're not bad. I got the Pamu Scroll on an Indigogo special and they're really a top of the line contender. Way more bass and depth of sound. I'm glad to have the Buds as backup and think I have to put time in to optimize.
