I believe you can unroot directly without losing data. At least with chainfire you can use the unroot option and that's it.
You will void warranty when rooting however, so not sure why you would want to go back to unrooted once rooted?

I believe both SU and Magisk have options in then to full unroot, so it should be as simple as that.

Depends upon your usage. In case you are not a fan of customization, then remain unrooted.

[Q] question about returning to stock ROM

My question is this...I rooted through towel root and installed a stock ROM for google play. I would like to know how to return to T-Mobile stock ROM so I can return phone in case of warranty issues.
I'm curious as to the step by step process. I can find the build if I need to. I didn't save the stock ROM in clockwork mod. Its a T-Mobile s4 sgh-m919
Any help is greatly appreciated. If not, its not the end of the world. I just wanted to see if I could do it.

Hi mate ,
As long as you did not trip the knox you can flash a stock rom for your country and carrier from here
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9505&pcode=XTE#firmware
And it will be just like new.
You have to use Odin to do it
And even if you have tripped the knox flag you can still flash back to stock.
Many service centers will not look into it and will just service the phone anyway as long as you have stock.
is it possible

Mate ,
You mention " return phone in case of warranty issues." your warranty is void if the knox bit is set if you have a custom recovery or flash a custom rom , the knox bit is set.
Go to download mode there you will see if is set

Flash with Odin using a PC, yes. I have done it many times.
I do not know what to do if you only have a Mac.
Of course If knox is set warranty is void, but many times they will overlook it. It is always worth a try.

I'm not so much concerned about warranty. I would just like to flash back to stock. Is there an easy way to do that with Mac? Or can it only be done with windows? I rotted and installed GPE with only my galaxy. Not sure if unroot and restock is possible that way. I am a total newb. Sorry

Dude realy, to get to full stock unrooted first use Triangle Away to reset the system status and the binaries. Then unroot from within the superSU app and after that flash a stock rom and data factory reset.
Here's the link

[SM-A710FD] How to root without tripping KNOX?

I've been searching for a tutorial of how to root this phone without tripping knox and i do have some files in it (knox) too.
Back in the old days, i was using Galaxy Note 2 and I rooted with KNOX tripped (it was out of warranty already) and the KNOX won;t be able to be access anymore and that's a bad thing
So, how to root this thing without tripping knox and still have my warranty covered?
Thanks in advance
Kingroot or Kingoroot. If it works Do not convert to supersu afterwards.
so will the root be permanant if i use kingoroot?

It will brick your device unless you install it through recovery.

EDIT - Sorry, still a Samsung noob (not yet got one and only ever had Motorolas) so didn't notice A7 in thread title

What model? G950F/FD? G950U? There is a very simple way to root G950U/G950W devices already in existence. It's called SamFail and is listed with an accompanying rom in the threads section.

Sadly, currently there is no way of rooting Exynos S8 without tripping knox..
Unfortunately as mentioned above and beyond there is no way currently without tripping Knox. Sadly, I use Samsung Pay alot and like the idea of keeping that option hence no rooting as long as this device is my DD.

A question if anyone can help me.
I really need to Root my Galaxy S8 (SM-G950F) cause i need to try to recover some photos and most apps to recover need the root done.
I know that root trips Knox, but if i install an official firmware after been tripped, will phone get back to normal, or it will tripped forever??
Thanks

It physically trips knox warranty, so if it’s tripped once, you can’t recover it unless you replace motherboard.

Nope, you won't be able to use it again, even after you install an official firmware afterwards.
